I can't say enough good things about Cedar House Inn! We went last weekend for our anniversary. Our accommodations were clean and cozy, the common areas are beautiful, the breakfast is excellent, and the staff are very friendly. Cary is a doll! We enjoyed our stay so much we booked for July 4th weekend while we were there. Do yourself a favor and relax on the patio with a glass of wine and let the breeze take all your cares away!

This hotel has a great location just steps from Flager college and the historic downtown area. It's quiet and peaceful. Linda checked us in and she was very informative and very personable. The BnB has disposable face masks and individual hand sanitizer for guests to take as they go out into the city. The common areas are nice and very nicely decorated in a Victorian style. There's a fridge with water, seltzer, sodas and individual bottles of wine to take during your stay. The breakfast is made up of a two course meal. The first day we had eggs Benedicts and French crepes, on the second day we had quiche and apple crisps. The food is outstanding. The preparation, presentation and taste of the food is akin of a 5 star restaurant. Hats off to Linda for a job well done. Our room was the Gables. A nice room with a balcony, king size bed and a long nice marble bathroom. Our bed was comfortable and very nicely dressed. Being an older home comes with its shortcomings, like not having many plug outlets for the electronics and not enough wastebaskets (only one in the bathroom). Parking is easy right behind the house. Great place to stay while in the St Augustine area.

This was our first time at a Bed and Breakfast. We really enjoyed staying here. The employees were extremely friendly and accommodating. We loved our room and the private entrance we had. The front porch was a nice place to sit, talk, and drink coffee in the morning. It's a perfect spot if you want to walk around downtown. It's a very short 3 minute walk to The Lightner Museum. Breakfast was delicious and we really enjoyed the ambiance. I would highly recommend staying here.

This was our very first trip to St Augustine and our first time staying in a bed and breakfast. Neither my husband or I knew quite what to expect, but any uncertainty was washed away as soon as Susan greeted us at the door...quite literally. Earlier in the day, hours before check in, the weather showed blue skies and sunshine; my husband and I parked our car in a public lot and set out on foot to explore St George Street. Just as we were leaving lunch, the skies opened and we found ourselves unprepared and drenched. We sloshed our way back to the car and arrived at the Cedar House Inn a sopping wet mess. Susan leapt into action and wrapped us in towels, helping us inside towards warmth. When she heard it was our first B&B experience and our first time in the city, she spent several minutes touring us around the home, sharing the history, and then helping us plan our visit. We stayed in the St Augustine Grand room on the first floor, right off the dining room, and found the space to be not only beautiful, but comfortable as well. The room had its own private entrance, but you could also enter through the main or side door for the house. The parlor was like something you'd see in Downton Abbey, thoughtfully decorated and with several comforts (complimentary wine and port, board games and puzzles, and scrumptious cookies!) While we only saw Susan on the first day for check-in, she certainly set the stage for the hospitality we'd expect while staying in the house. Rachel was on hand during the day and greeted us each morning with a smile. The breakfast service was simply outstanding, with a delicious 2-course meal to start the day off right. There are 27 Bed and Breakfasts in St Augustine, but I'm fairly certain we picked the best one.

Front porch. Peace and quiet all day.

Wonderful stay at the Cedar House Inn. Beautiful inn highlighted by the porches, location, delicious breakfast and delightful staff. There are zero things to take issue with unless you don't enjoy a quiet and peaceful place to stay.

I can not rave enough about the Cedar House Inn!! Hands down it was 5-star treatment from making to reservation to checking out! The rooms have private entrances from within the Inn as well as outside making it convenient to explore the town and return late without disrupting other guests. Our room was perfect for my husband and I. Very clean, bed was comfy and the room included water and robes to use during our stay. Shower was walk in which was very nice. The bathroom was quite small, but for us that was expected due to the age of this gem. What was INCLUDED in our stay was: Bottled water Fresh baked Chocolate chip cookies Coffee Wine Ice Parking Gourmet breakfast The breakfast was incredible! We started off with a fresh fruit cup topped with whipped cream and then eggs baked in a bacon cup aside a bed of grits drizzled with pesto. The hostess mingled with the guests during breakfast enough to be engaged but so much that you couldn't eat. Cedar House Inn will forever be our go to place while visiting St.Augustine!!!

It has taken me a while to get to this review, but we stayed here on Halloween night with family. My mother-in-law was getting married at the Inn, and so she and her husband booked the entire Inn for both families to stay. It was lovely! The Inn has Victorian decor with beautiful antique furnishings, fixtures, and decor. From the wallpaper to the dishes, it is clear that the owner takes great pride in owning and caring for this historic home. My family stayed in the king bedroom off of the dining room - I wish I remembered the name of the room. Each of the bedrooms has a name. The room was spacious and had plenty of room for us, our bags, a pack-n-play crib, and baby gear (stroller!). Did someone say location, location, location? While not right in the thick of the beautiful seaside shopping area, it is still walking distance. The Inn was perfectly located around the corner from the historic College and city hall. The neighborhood was quiet - really, I cannot say enough great things about this place! The staff was attentive throughout the entire stay, and the homemade breakfast served to us the next morning was delicious. No detail was missed. This is such a charming spot to spend your overnights in St. Augustine. Oh! How could I forget the wedding?! Our parents wanted a steampunk-themed wedding, and that's what they got! They were married on the front porch by my husband, and it was the perfect spot for the 14 of us. The Inn helped serve the cake and champagne for the toast... truly, the staff was so helpful. Just a tip: If you have children under the age of 12, it is my understanding that you cannot stay here with just your family. We had three children under the age of 12 and so our parents had to buy out the Inn for the evening.

We just had our third stay at Cedar House and as usual the hospitality is wonderful. Very accommodating with dietary restrictions and even remembered my husband's iced coffee. We loved our private balcony where we enjoyed a late dinner (takeout). The staff is very friendly which is another reason we keep returning. We are already planning on a return trip.

We have been staying at a St. Augustine B&B once or twice a year for 10+ years now. I realize things that are important to us may not be important to someone else, so I tried to itemize things to help out. Location Its located on the edge of the old historic area near the Lightner Museum. You are a 3 minute walk away from the center of town. There are other B&B's closer to pedestrian only St. George Street but you are going to want to walk to this area anyway. Parking They have onsite parking that accommodates all guests. Not all B&B's have this feature. Offsite parking can make loading and unloading more of a chore - especially if it is raining. Exterior The building exterior is charming and picturesque. The wrap around covered porch adds to the character. The porch continues on the left side and up to the 2nd floor where it is uncovered. The porches offer a great space to relax during the cooler evenings. Interior Common Area Incredibly beautiful! Lots of design details to keep your eyes busy and delighted. There are very large first floor common areas with a sitting area, game area and the primary dining room. Wine, port, bottled water, soft drinks, and freshly baked goodies are always available. Upstairs there is a hallway that connects all the second floor bedrooms. Bed & Bath We stayed in The Gables room on the 2nd floor. It is a beautiful large second floor bedroom located on the right side of the house. There is a small private balcony with two chairs. A ceiling fan and flat screen TV are also present. You have your own in-room thermostat to control your room temperature - awesome! The King size bed is very comfortable. A deep and relatively narrow bathroom has a large walk-in shower. Breakfast Breakfast is served at 9am. The two course breakfasts are an event. Breakfast is served (rather than a buffet). The presentation is only outdone by the decadent taste. Meals typically alternate between a savory or sweet entrée. You will not go away hungry or disappointed. I am not typically a breakfast person but I really enjoyed the meals both days we were here. It is also a wonderful opportunity to talk with and get to know your fellow guests. Innkeeper Cyndi and her staff are amazing. There are many reasons why Cedar House Inn won #1 B&B in the U.S. and #2 in the world - and they are all rooted in the passion and care that Cyndi has for her inn. Overall We have stayed at several St. Augustine B&B's and I would have to rank Cedar House the highest overall experience. It is our current favorite. I included some photos too.

We had the best time here at our first Bed and breakfast experience. Cyndi and her staff made our trip here unforgettable. Check in / Check Out Process Cyndi sends an email before hand with the times and calls to let you know if your room is ready earlier than expected. Check in/out process is so smooth Parking Parking is reserved for guests, extremely helpful in making it easy to leave car behind and explore town by foot Food Fantastic service and delicious food. Cyndi and her staff use fresh herbs from her garden. Breakfast is served at 9 am. Coffee and tea are made available as early as 7 am. Water, Juices, wine are made available for guests Already dreaming of our future trip here.

What an amazing stay! We originally got married here years ago and came back for our anniversary. Jonathan and his staff are the absolute best! There is so much to do within walking distance- Historical places to visit, great winegood food. If visiting St. Augustine, you will not regret staying at the Cedar House Inn.

This was the 2nd time my husband & I stayed at the Cedar House Inn. We loved it so much, that we got my In-laws for Christmas a 2 night stay here. We joined them too. Just got back from the Easter weekend. Now, Shane & I typically stay in hotels, but if you ever make it to St Augustine, you must stay at The Cedar House Inn. It's better than the Ritz. Cindy does a fantastic job making it a pristine & cozy stay. She makes you feel like family. Not only that, she gives excellent recommendations on places to go & eat. She set us up for dinner reservations for one of our nights stay that was top notch. Everything is within walking distance too. The breakfast each morning is absolutely amazing...Fine dining with great taste! It's the best breakfast ever! I can't rave enough about this place...all I can say, is you have to experience it for yourself. Our first time we stayed in the Augustine Grand room. Really cozy & nice. This past time, we stayed in the Viscaya room and booked my In-laws in the Augustine Grand room. I'm sure each room has its own charms.

I absolutely loved this bed and breakfast. Rachel and her staff were very personal and professional. My husband and I stayed here for our fist anniversary and so glad we did. The room was cozy and very inviting. Oh and the shower was refreshing. The house it's self was beautiful and full of charm and history. They made the best breakfast I've ever had. Mouth watering to be exact. You're so close to everything you could walk and so we did. Thanks again and we will definitely be back. Loved this place!!!

Unfortunately, the property did not fully meet the expectations those images created. As Florida residents, we understand the recent cold weather likely impacted landscaping and outdoor upkeep. However, the courtyard and exterior areas appeared noticeably more worn and less maintained than what is currently advertised online. Unfortunately, we booked this specific room for the courtyard charm we saw in the posted pictures. Updating the photos or refreshing the outdoor spaces would help future guests have a more accurate understanding of the property's current condition. There were certainly positive aspects to our stay. The location was excellent, the included parking was convenient, and every staff member we encountered was kind and welcoming. That said, at approximately $375 per night, we anticipated a higher level of overall quality in the accommodations, amenities, and breakfast experience. While the room itself was comfortable enough, it lacked the charm, attention to detail, and elevated feel we expected at this price point. Breakfast was also disappointing; we only chose to participate one of the two mornings because the selection felt quite basic. In a destination like St. Augustine, we expected a more memorable and refined hospitality experience. The toiletries also felt below the standard we anticipated for a property in this category. The shampoo and body wash were small sample-sized bottles that did not feel particularly premium or thoughtfully curated. Additionally, we experienced an issue with the tub jets during our first night. The jets repeatedly turned on by themselves, and we had to troubleshoot the wall switches multiple times to stop them, which became frustrating and disruptive. Overall, it felt as though the premium pricing was driven primarily by the location rather than the full guest experience. We have stayed at similarly priced bed-and-breakfast properties in Savannah and found the room quality, amenities, and dining experience there to be significantly more impressive. I genuinely wanted to love this property and had hoped it might become an annual anniversary destination for us, which makes this disappointment even more unfortunate. I share this feedback constructively because I do believe the property has strong potential with a few thoughtful improvements.

We came here to see a concert at the AMP outside of town. Being that the rates at nearby hotels were more than I was willing to spend, I looked at local B&B's, and this one fit the bill between it's local and downhome aesthetic, breakfast being included with gluten-free options for my wife, and a relaxing bathtub for my wife to soak and relax. Eva was fantastic in ensuring we had everything we needed. She is an absolute gem who made us feel at home and welcome. She helped us with some concerns and requests. With a house that has been in existence since 1853, as indicated by the plaque by the front door, this has the historical aesthetic and the comfort to match. The lobby area has some lovely velvet sofas shared with the dining area, where you can have either white or red wine or water, for example. The porch is also nice for a glass of wine, people-watching, and enjoying life as it passes by. Food-wise, they served breakfast if you're able to get to the lobby before 9:45 PM. Technically, the kitchen is open till 10 AM, but don't push your luck. But it's nice to have some coffee and breakfast, whether it's eggs and French toast soufflé or whatever is on the menu, and then you're off for your day. If you are gluten-free, make sure you mention it in advance so they can accommodate you. Our room was lovely, with a comfortable four-poster king-sized bed, a classy dresser, and nightstands. No closet, but there are knobs for hanging up shirts, pants, and dresses if you have clothes hangers. I liked the complimentary dark chocolate when we arrived as well. The room we had for our stay had a hot tub and a shower with multiple showerheads. Once you figure out how to use both, it is heaven. It allowed us to live our best lives. My wife enjoyed the tub immensely, then, after the fact, enjoyed the bathrobe. I liked that the toilet was in a separate room from the sink and shower/hot tub, especially, if you need to go and it goes sideways. The outdoor patio is also nice if you want an afternoon drink, fenced off from the street, especially if you want to smoke a cigar. We have already booked for a concert we are attending in July. And that date will not be the last time we book at the B&B. It is grand.

Title: From a dream to a nightmare--do not trust this business…read moreRating: I was incredibly excited to stay at 44 Spanish Street Inn, expecting a charming, historic St. Augustine getaway. Unfortunately, what I thought would be a dream vacation quickly turned into a complete nightmare. My husband and I live about two hours away from St. Augustine, and since we had a night off, we decided to book a one-night getaway. I searched online and found what looked like a completely relaxing, dream room: the Palm South room. I felt comfortable booking directly through their website because the policy explicitly noted that payment was not due until we arrived on the property. We were so excited at the thought of a quick getaway where we could just relax in our own private, in-room jetted tub. A few minutes into our drive to the hotel, the nightmare began. We received a call from the owner demanding payment. I thought this was odd since the website stated payment was due upon arrival, but since we were already on our way, I paid over the phone. A few minutes after that, while still driving, my husband received a text message giving us the access code to a different room: "Palm North." The room they forced us into was $30 cheaper and did not have a jetted tub. Figuring it was a simple mistake, we called the owner. He informed us that they switched our room because the water heater for the Palm South room was broken. When we explained that we only booked that specific room for the in-room jetted tub, he told us we could still stay in it, but the water would be cold! He did not offer any compensation or a discount for the forced downgrade. When I asked him to please just reverse the charges since the advertised room was unavailable, the owner flatly refused. He claimed he had offered us two different rooms--neglecting to mention that one was cheaper and the other was broken! Since we were almost there, we decided to drive to the property to speak with someone in person. When we arrived, the property was completely deserted. The owner refused to answer his phone, leaving us with no choice but to call the local police for assistance in resolving the theft. Even the police could not reach him. He had gotten exactly what he wanted: our money for a room that wasn't functional or as advertised. We ultimately left and had to book a room elsewhere with working hot water and a much nicer owner. We are now relying on our bank to dispute and reverse the fraudulent charges. What started as a beautiful dream turned into an absolute nightmare. I learned a very hard lesson and will never book directly through a website with a small property like this again. Avoid this place at all costs. **Edited to add that I filed a report to yhe BBB and a secondary complaint with the Florida Attorney General (the Department of Legal Affairs). I saw that this had happened to many other people and its NOT RIGHT!!

Throughout our stay, the pool was lovely, and the patio for dining and chatting were welcomed options. We never entered the little pub, but it looked inviting. Thank you everyone for all your hard work making our stay a wonderrful memory!

Fresh baked goods during the day (the pumpkin snickerdoodle cookies in the fall were soooo good). Homemade dessert at night. Real sangria with brandy in the evenings on the weekend. Classic decanters in the room for reception to fill with sherry. Breakfast comes with mimosas and bloody Mary's on the weekends. Elle was a gem at the front desk. The whole team really puts in the effort to make the entire experience come together.

Very nice and great location, easy to walk around downtown to see all the sights of St. Augustine. The room was spacious, smaller bathroom but not too small. The bed, pillows and blankets need to be updated as the bed was not comfortable. Check in was great and all automated if you accept access via text communication. Breakfast was nice, delivered to our room. It was freshly made and very tasty. There is seating on the balcony outside of the room that was very comfortable. Staying here feels very home like and relaxing.

I used "reservationdesk.com" (Expedia-?) to make this reservation. The agent PROMISED that we would be on a second floor with a BAYFRONT VIEW. When we arrived at the MARIN HOUSE B&B, there was no waterfront view at all, and we were on the first floor, crammed into a little corner on the property. At check-in, we were basically told that, it's your problem because we used a third-party ("reservationdesk.com"). FINALLY, a week later, we finally got our receipt. Marin House said that they could not even give us a receipt because we went through a third-party. So, one week later, I see that we were charged for three nights, even though we checked out after the first night. ReservationDesk.com said that they contacted Marin House, who told them that since we checked out after the first night, it was against their B&B POLICY, and they are refusing to refund FOR THE TWO NIGHTS THAT WE WERE NOT EVEN THERE!!!!! EVEN THOUGH WE WERE LIED TO ABOUT THE ROOM. Sandy, the owner, got her britches into a big bunch because we were singing, and our choice of language apparently offended the geriatric crowd there.... SO, FOR ONE NIGHT, SANDY @ MARIN HOUSE IS CHARGING US OVER $1,500.00‼‼‼. THIEVES. THIEVES. THIEVES. STAY AWAY FROM THESE THIEVES.

The owner renovated the inside so that it's got modern amenities and sleeps six people comfortably. The first time we visited the place, it was like an awakening. It was the PERFECT place for my husband and I to get have our wedding. Of course, we had 85 guests, so the ceremony had to be elsewhere, but this was perfect for the reception. It was the perfect size for everyone to move around freely and still have a small dance floor. Also the price is crazy good. You will NOT find a more reasonable deal in town. Bring in your own vendors and you can create a fabulous wedding on a modest budget. I'm not just saying that because I am the proud bride. I'm saying it because it's a recession and fabulous doesn't normally come cheap. And I don't throw the word FABULOUS around breezily. I'm deadly serious. Anyway, you get the place in all it's charm for three days and two nights. Then you can rent it for an extra day for a good price. And really, you just have to get rid of your trash because they clean and do laundry for you. How is that not perfect? Go there because it made my very special day amazing.

When originally searching for a wedding venue we had a few must-haves, which included a location with historical character, in driving distance from Orlando, and located in a town where out-of-state visitors could enjoy exploring. And so we focused in on St. Augustine. I had a good gut instinct about the Sanchez House from the moment I discovered them online, and I must shamelessly admit that I stalked the websites of every couple who had their wedding at the Sanchez House. We quickly booked a visit to the Sanchez House, because they are only able to hold 12 weddings a year due to being zoned in a residential area. We met with the owner, Blake, who shared with us the history of the home, gave tips from other weddings held on the premise, and shared some of his favorite vendors. When we experienced the venue in person, we fell even more in love with the charm that was evident around every corner of the house! The SH offers a brick courtyard, artificial turf front lawn, large gathering room, dining room, kitchen, office, two bedrooms, small one-car garage, and an attic. Not only can you hold your wedding events at the house, but you are able to stay there, as well. This allowed us and our bridal party, 6 in total, to stay at the house. So convenient! After booking the Sanchez House, we decided to extend our celebration into an entire weekend. Our events spanned from 50 to 90 guests, and SH accommodates them comfortably. The house is in an excellent location by the bay and walking distance to historic St. George Street. At the SH, we were able to select our own vendors. We held our ceremony in the courtyard which transformed to the dance floor. The front lawn was donned with a heated tent and tables on the coldest Florida winter day. It even snowed lightly! Guests had the chance to mingle throughout the house in the dining room, gathering room, and balcony. I would note that the parking around the SH can be challenging, but we gave plenty of parking options for guests through our wedding website and social media, and suggested our guests to stay at one of the nearby hotels or bed & breakfasts. I highly recommend the Sanchez House for any couple looking for an intimate St. Augustine venue!
