What a wonderful stay for our anniversary! This was our first time staying in a bed & breakfast and it was absolutely everything I hoped it would be and more! Sasha greeted us with a warm welcome and a plate of homemade chocolate chip coconut Carmel cookies that were DELICIOUS and available daily. Circa 1893, the house is a beautiful Victorian style that has been wonderfully cared for and decorated with Christmas decorations for the holiday. The property has 9 bedrooms and even with being completely full while we were there it was cozy and relaxing. Happy hour is from 4-5 daily with your selection of white or red wine. They offer complimentary non-alcoholic beverages all day and breakfast is at 9am every day. This trip, we only stayed one night but we will go back and stay longer. Breakfast consists of two courses - savory & sweet and the portions were generous. We had egg aviles, with seasoned tomatoes and home fries. Warning: This review has nothing to do with actually staying at Cedar House Inn because we never made it there. We had to cancel our trip to Florida due to a family emergency as my mother-in-law was rushed to the hospital two days before the reservation. When that happened, I immediately emailed Cedar House asking them to either provide a refund (this was an off-peak midweek stay) or to please give us a credit so that we could come down in April during spring break, that being the next time my kid would be off from school. I did not receive a reply. I called Cedar House today to see what they did about our cancellation since I never got an email or call. I could tell from the conversation I had with Cary that someone obviously slipped up and did not send the cancellation charge email at the time it was supposed to be sent. Cary sent it while we were on the phone and it arrived immediately. My spam folder was also checked and there was nothing from them. I was charged half the room rate for cancelling. Since my email was never replied to, I asked again if we could get a credit and use it in April--I was denied. He put me on hold a few times so I knoew he was asking but obviously someone with the power to provide what I wanted just kept saying no. I feel that sometimes circumstances should be taken into account in these situations. A last minute emergency that had my husband trying to plan a trip to England to see his mom.....the fact that this was a midweek stay and the inn was not inundated with reservations....me not asking for a refund but merely a credit to be used on a date coming up soon....I think it's heartless and bad policy to not be a bit more lenient. So for spring break when we rebook our trip to Florida, sorry to say we will not be staying at Cedar House. Cary, I know you tried. read more

This hotel has a great location just steps from Flager college and the historic downtown area. It's quiet and peaceful. Linda checked us in and she was very informative and very personable. The BnB has disposable face masks and individual hand sanitizer for guests to take as they go out into the city. The common areas are nice and very nicely decorated in a Victorian style. There's a fridge with water, seltzer, sodas and individual bottles of wine to take during your stay. The breakfast is made up of a two course meal. The first day we had eggs Benedicts and French crepes, on the second day we had quiche and apple crisps. The food is outstanding. The preparation, presentation and taste of the food is akin of a 5 star restaurant. Hats off to Linda for a job well done. Our room was the Gables. A nice room with a balcony, king size bed and a long nice marble bathroom. Our bed was comfortable and very nicely dressed. Being an older home comes with its shortcomings, like not having many plug outlets for the electronics and not enough wastebaskets (only one in the bathroom). Parking is easy right behind the house. This was our first time at a Bed and Breakfast. We really enjoyed staying here. The employees were extremely friendly and accommodating. We loved our room and the private entrance we had. The front porch was a nice place to sit, talk, and drink coffee in the morning. It's a perfect spot if you want to walk around downtown. It's a very short 3 minute walk to The Lightner Museum. This was our very first trip to St Augustine and our first time staying in a bed and breakfast. Neither my husband or I knew quite what to expect, but any uncertainty was washed away as soon as Susan greeted us at the door...quite literally. Earlier in the day, hours before check in, the weather showed blue skies and sunshine; my husband and I parked our car in a public lot and set out on foot to explore St George Street. Just as we were leaving lunch, the skies opened and we found ourselves unprepared and drenched. We sloshed our way back to the car and arrived at the Cedar House Inn a sopping wet mess. Susan leapt into action and wrapped us in towels, helping us inside towards warmth. When she heard it was our first B&B experience and our first time in the city, she spent several minutes touring us around the home, sharing the history, and then helping us plan our visit. We stayed in the St Augustine Grand room on the first floor, right off the dining room, and found the space to be not only beautiful, but comfortable as well. The room had its own private entrance, but you could also enter through the main or side door for the house. The parlor was like something you'd see in Downton Abbey, thoughtfully decorated and with several comforts (complimentary wine and port, board games and puzzles, and scrumptious cookies!) While we only saw Susan on the first day for check-in, she certainly set the stage for the hospitality we'd expect while staying in the house. Rachel was on hand during the day and greeted us each morning with a smile. The breakfast service was simply outstanding, with a delicious 2-course meal to start the day off right. There are 27 Bed and Breakfasts in St Augustine, but I'm fairly certain we picked the best one. read more

I spent three nights at the Cedar House Inn during a long road trip. Mallory and staff were incredible - super kind, accommodating, and knowledgeable of the area. I was given a tour of the house upon check-in and received a map with local eating/activity recommendations based on my interests. The house itself is gorgeous and is walkable to just about everything - I parked my car when I got there and didn't get back in it until I checked out. Breakfast was delicious each morning and the rocking chairs and private balcony provided ample places to just hang out and relax. I can not rave enough about the Cedar House Inn!! Hands down it was 5-star treatment from making to reservation to checking out! The rooms have private entrances from within the Inn as well as outside making it convenient to explore the town and return late without disrupting other guests. Our room was perfect for my husband and I. Very clean, bed was comfy and the room included water and robes to use during our stay. Shower was walk in which was very nice. The bathroom was quite small, but for us that was expected due to the age of this gem. What was INCLUDED in our stay was: Bottled water Fresh baked Chocolate chip cookies Coffee Wine Ice Parking Gourmet breakfast The breakfast was incredible! It has taken me a while to get to this review, but we stayed here on Halloween night with family. My mother-in-law was getting married at the Inn, and so she and her husband booked the entire Inn for both families to stay. It was lovely! The Inn has Victorian decor with beautiful antique furnishings, fixtures, and decor. From the wallpaper to the dishes, it is clear that the owner takes great pride in owning and caring for this historic home. My family stayed in the king bedroom off of the dining room - I wish I remembered the name of the room. Each of the bedrooms has a name. The room was spacious and had plenty of room for us, our bags, a pack-n-play crib, and baby gear (stroller!). Did someone say location, location, location? While not right in the thick of the beautiful seaside shopping area, it is still walking distance. The Inn was perfectly located around the corner from the historic College and city hall. The neighborhood was quiet - really, I cannot say enough great things about this place! The staff was attentive throughout the entire stay, and the homemade breakfast served to us the next morning was delicious. No detail was missed. This is such a charming spot to spend your overnights in St. Augustine. Oh! How could I forget the wedding?! Our parents wanted a steampunk-themed wedding, and that's what they got! They were married on the front porch by my husband, and it was the perfect spot for the 14 of us. The Inn helped serve the cake and champagne for the toast... truly, the staff was so helpful. Just a tip: If you have children under the age of 12, it is my understanding that you cannot stay here with just your family. We had three children under the age of 12 and so our parents had to buy out the Inn for the evening. read more

We have been staying at a St. Augustine B&B once or twice a year for 10+ years now. I realize things that are important to us may not be important to someone else, so I tried to itemize things to help out. Location Its located on the edge of the old historic area near the Lightner Museum. You are a 3 minute walk away from the center of town. There are other B&B's closer to pedestrian only St. George Street but you are going to want to walk to this area anyway. Parking They have onsite parking that accommodates all guests. Not all B&B's have this feature. Offsite parking can make loading and unloading more of a chore - especially if it is raining. Exterior The building exterior is charming and picturesque. The wrap around covered porch adds to the character. The porch continues on the left side and up to the 2nd floor where it is uncovered. The porches offer a great space to relax during the cooler evenings. Interior Common Area Incredibly beautiful! Lots of design details to keep your eyes busy and delighted. There are very large first floor common areas with a sitting area, game area and the primary dining room. Wine, port, bottled water, soft drinks, and freshly baked goodies are always available. Upstairs there is a hallway that connects all the second floor bedrooms. Bed & Bath We stayed in The Gables room on the 2nd floor. It is a beautiful large second floor bedroom located on the right side of the house. There is a small private balcony with two chairs. A ceiling fan and flat screen TV are also present. You have your own in-room thermostat to control your room temperature - awesome! The King size bed is very comfortable. A deep and relatively narrow bathroom has a large walk-in shower. Breakfast Breakfast is served at 9am. The two course breakfasts are an event. Breakfast is served (rather than a buffet). The presentation is only outdone by the decadent taste. Meals typically alternate between a savory or sweet entrée. You will not go away hungry or disappointed. I am not typically a breakfast person but I really enjoyed the meals both days we were here. It is also a wonderful opportunity to talk with and get to know your fellow guests. Innkeeper Cyndi and her staff are amazing. There are many reasons why Cedar House Inn won #1 B&B in the U.S. and #2 in the world - and they are all rooted in the passion and care that Cyndi has for her inn. Overall We have stayed at several St. Augustine B&B's and I would have to rank Cedar House the highest overall experience. It is our current favorite. I included some photos too. read more

Just got back from the Easter weekend. Now, Shane & I typically stay in hotels, but if you ever make it to St Augustine, you must stay at The Cedar House Inn. It's better than the Ritz. Cindy does a fantastic job making it a pristine & cozy stay. She makes you feel like family. Not only that, she gives excellent recommendations on places to go & eat. She set us up for dinner reservations for one of our nights stay that was top notch. Everything is within walking distance too. The breakfast each morning is absolutely amazing...Fine dining with great taste! It's the best breakfast ever! After having a baby, this was the best place my husband and I could of gone to reconnect. We loved the whole "feel" of the house that is just welcoming and warm. We were greeted by Jonathan and with some delicious oatmeal cookies! The breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented on a plate that made it look delicious. My favorite dish they made was banana bread with a Nutella cream and fresh bananas. My husband and I stayed in the Floridian Suite. Champagne, roses, chocolate and a horse and carriage ride!! You should of seen my face when this 2000pound stallion picked us up for a private tour around the city. This B&B offers all the options to wine down and reconnect. Stayed here Memorial Day weekend with tropical storm Beryl hitting the day we arrived. What fun. This facility has had extensive remodeling and has resulted in a very user friendly and beautiful facility. We weathered the storm well and accepted a weekend where we went everywhere with a rain poncho. The hostess, Cyndi, is very well suited to serve as hostess. She is very accommodating and does some wonderful breakfasts that are flavorful as well as pleasantly presented. Rooms are tastefully decorated. All have DVD players with the television and there are many movies on disc which you can watch. The living rooms are very welcoming with games, wine, and snacks later in the day. Various prices on rooms; not all expensive. Our room was most affordable room and was small but worked OK. Would recommend. Going again over Thanksgiving with more family members. Now November -- Thanksgiving was another success. Very nice time. Again, highly recommended. read more

Absolutely absurd cancellation policy. We were unable to travel as I became extremely ill days before the scheduled visit. We contacted the venue the morning of the day before we were booked for a two-night stay and said that we needed to cancel for emergency medical reasons. We also cancelled online and requested that at least the second night of our two-night stay be refunded, which the venue refused, offering instead a "credit" for one night in the future within the calendar year. I could have provided a medical affidavit but the venue is not even willing to consider an exception to their standard cancellation policy. We have no way of knowing whether or when I will be able to travel nor if or when the venue will even have availability when it is conducive for us to travel again to the area. In effect, we paid $620.18 for NOTHING: no service, no accommodation, no benefit of any kind. We might as well have been donating to a charity, which this business obviously is NOT. A credit in this case is meaningless and not enforceable. And who would want to rebook at a venue that does not consider a medical emergency an appropriate reason for issuing an exception to their cancellation policy? We don't even want to visit the city of St. Augustine at all because of this experience. Book at a regular trusted hotel that at least offers reasonable cancellation options and spare yourself the unnecessary stress and expense of dealing with an overpriced B&B!!! read more

This place is so amazing. My husband and I stayed there this weekend and I can't express how wonderful it was. Cyndi (the owner) made us feel like family. I just wanted to hug her the minute I met her. Everything was very clean and beautiful. Breakfast each morning was honestly the best breakfast I've ever had in my life. During our lives, we are lucky to have a few very special people cross our paths. Cyndi Humphrey, owner of the world famous, and award winning Cedar House Inn, is one such person who has enriched our lives most assuredly. When we first spoke to Cyndi about visiting her inn recently, she was very personable and only too happy in welcoming us to come for a visit. Her website was very informative and state of the art. We wanted to visit St. Augustine so staying at Cedar House was an easy choice. We made arrangements to stay for 3 nights, Oct. 24-26, 2017. While driving up from Pompano Beach, with our arrival scheduled for approximately 2:30 pm, we had a phone call from Cyndi, asking us if we would be arriving around that time, as she had some errands to run and did not want miss meeting us in person. Wow, my wife and I looked at each other, after that call and said, "what a touch of class." Right then and there, we knew we were going to have a very special experience. We met Cyndi and she was so warm and engaging. Her career was so interesting and we could have chatted for hours. She showed us her beautiful inn and it was magnificent. We felt the presence of the Victorian era, for sure. Our room, The Grove, was perfect for us, and so comfortable. Breakfast each morning was truly one highlight of our stay. Cyndi prepared some mouth watering dishes, as you can see from my photos. Every afternoon, there was always a plate of homemade chocolate chip cookies. Easy access parking at the Inn was a plus, in addition to being a stone's throw from all the downtown activities. Once we arrived, we never moved our car once. Finally, if you want a new and exciting 5 star experience, be sure to visit Cyndi and her terrific staff, at the Cedar House Inn. You will never forget the fun. I really loved our stay here. Cyndi, the owner, has a passion for St. Augustine, and sits you down when you first arrive with a map to help you plan your stay, and acquaint you with the B & B. She was very well versed in the local restaurants, and even called to make a reservation for one that night that was fairly new. Port, sherry, red and white wine are available at all times--just help yourself. Fresh baked cookies appear as if by magic on the sideboard every afternoon. Free water bottles and soft drinks are in a fridge near the side door for guests. There's a wrap around porch, and a lovely parlor. Our room was sheer luxury. We had a four poster bed, and a jacuzzi for two right in the room. There was a door to the hallway leading downstairs, and another leading outside. Breakfasts are a thing of beauty. Breakfast is served not when you happen to come down, but at 9:00. It is either sweet or savoury, and gorgeously plated. It always starts with an amazing fruit cocktail in a stemmed glass. To be honest, there was nothing we wanted at the B & B, and unlike other places, where it is just a place to end your day, this was the highlight of our trip. I would like to thank Cindy and her staff for making my one year anniversary one to remember. I order the romance package and was NOT DISAPPOINTED. We stayed in the Floridian room, and it was spotless. We enjoyed our private balcony where me and my girlfriend enjoyed a beautiful bottle of Champaign. I can tell you it was an absolutely incredible stay and the staff was extremely pleasant and even gave us recommendations on where to eat! There's definitely a reason this B&B is #1 on TripAdvisor, and it's because of Cyndi and her amazing team. Our 3-night stay at the Cedar House Inn was the best travel experience we've ever had, both separately and together, and we are absolutely not exaggerating. From the moment we came up to the door and rang Cyndi's door bell, we were treated like we were her special guests, whom she had been anxiously waiting for. We were given a short tour of the house and our beautiful room (first the Sanibel and then the Floridian), which had all of the Victorian-Era magic we were hoping for. Cyndi has baked goods, wine, port, water, and soft drinks on hand in the main part of the house 24/7. And if she's run out and you want more, a refill is only a phone call away. Parking was free and on site. We never had to worry about moving the car or parking anywhere, and everything was walking distance from the inn. Cyndi told us when we arrived that we had "permission to do nothing," and this statement is 100% true. We never had to lift a finger; she and her team took care of everything, and our only job was to enjoy ourselves! Now, breakfast: That's an event all on its own! Cyndi likes to say that she's not a cook, but I guarantee you she's being modest. Breakfast alternates each morning between sweet and savory. One day, you may be having strawberry waffles, and the next day, you may be having an egg souffle. Either way, the food is award-winning quality, and the coffee and juice flow freely and abundantly! Not to mention, you are truly transported to another world at breakfast. The Victorian Era decor and soft music make you feel as though you have traveled back in time, with Cyndi as your guide!
