Recently visited for tapas and loved all the variety of vegetable dishes and vegan options! The fried PB&J is a MUST TRY! Find my full review and more @yourneighborhoodvegan and Yourneighborhoodvegan.com

Nice place with good vibes, service and food. I saw 3 people and they were masters of their domain. The bartender- serving nice tapas and loading up the drinks. The wonderdul waitress, hosting, taking orders and serving food. The dishwasher gentleman going quiet and diligently about his business keeping the flow of the dishes!!! Loved it!

What a great spot. It's very eclectic. Very creative atmosphere. Star was very inviting and pleasant. Stephanie was our waitress and she was very pleasant and attentive. The food is all small plates and tasted farm to fresh. We ordered the salad and Brie bomb to start. Both were absolutely delicious. We then ordered bruschetta, beef Wellington, and sirloin. Very delicious. Very fresh, very full of flavor. My favorite was the Brie bomb and sirloin. Great little place. Somebody took an idea or dream and made it happen. I would have given 5 stars but there is so little seating, uncomfortable chairs and the patio was very warm. They need a bigger place for sure!

I just love this place! Non-descript store front makes you wonder if there is even a place to dine here. But turn right down the side street and there is a parking lot in the back. Inside, it's a small and intimate place. You can fit 6 to 8 people around the bar, one larger table and then several two seater tables. They also have a covered patioout back. They serve tapas, and several of them are gluten-free. Beer and wine only, and sometimes a cider or two, but they have a good rotating selection. Everyone who works here is just plain cool. Great amount of attention, and are just interesting people to talk to They do all the preparing and cooking right in front of you if you are at the bar. Food is always really good to great! Stable place to eat if you want to get out from the mainstream places and support local business in Modesto!

I chose to sit at the bar. Got to meet the owner named Ty. Ordered the garlic, thyme bone marrow which was excellent with the crusty bread and romaine salad underneath. The gambas de ajillo tasted just like if I got Argentinian frozen shrimp with salted butter, garlic, and shallots. Great with the crusty bread. I found getting the bone marrow more worth it. Was told to come back for the sausages. Can't wait!

Hmm so where do I start...maybe the fact that this place feels like you're part of a private club or something. I've been to this place maybe 3 times now with my wife and every time the vibe is right and the food is good! We always go prior to their busy times so we always get tremendous service! If you didn't know this place existed you would walk right past it. The inside is small but has a cool vibe to it. It's almost like a bar setting but where the bar would typically be the chef is cooking right in front of you! Every time we've come the food is always great! They change their menu out every so often but don't worry anything they have is going to bring your taste buds for a ride! One of my favorite spots in Modesto!

The special....octopus!

Love this place! We tried it for the first time a few weeks ago and it did not disappoint. We met the charming owner who was gracious enough to come over and introduce himself. The service was topnotch! We ordered the special (octopus) and it was DELICIOUS! The eclectic ambiance was great.

Felt a positive vibe upon entry, we sat in bar area. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. We were passing through but this spot left an imprint on my tastebuds. We ordered Pinot and Chardonnay. Pork Belly, whipped Fetta, Beef Wellington, sirloin steak, garlic Brie bomb, patatas braves. All were cooked perfectly. My personal faves were the pork Belly dish and garlic Brie bomb.

VEGAN SPECIFIC REVIEW: Bauhaus is VERY vegan friendly. I looked on Yelp to find a place that offered a vegan brunch in Modesto and Bauhaus popped up. Everything I ordered was absolutely outstanding. I ordered 4 items and split them with my partner and we were both satisfied with the brunch but not too stuffed. Not pictured is my seasonal spritz which had pomegranate seeds, strawberries, mango juice, blackberry juice, and something else that I'm forgetting. It was a 10/10). Our food came out at a decent pace, it felt like we had a 5-10 minute window between dishes which I personally enjoyed because you get to enjoy a freshly made/hot dish for every dish that you order. I only had to wait a few minutes to be seated at the bar/kitchen front area so I enjoyed watching the food be made! They even had purse hooks under the top of the bar!!!! This restaurant has a small place to park around back which is great! Overall an excellent experience!

Cute interior and outside! Food was delicious and employees are super friendly. We sat down by the counter snd loved seeing the chef cook in right front of us. We were there for brunch and next time, I'll come back for dinner and dinks :)

My girlfriends and I went there. We were the only three people in the entire place. Each item we ordered came out burnt.

We told Jaqueline, our server, that we would be sharing so we could sample everything. She brought us everything already split....including the drinks. That was awesome. The building is hard to miss from Jack Tone Rd with its white exterior and black accents. The…read moreparking lot is very small and limited. The interior of Cask & Barrel has an upscale type of vibe with a black slate style stone and some fun accent colors throughout. Everything is organized very well which makes it very easy to find the type of alcohol you seek. In my opinion, it is easier to find different types of alcohol here than the local competitors of similar size. There is a wine cellar with glass walls which make viewing from the floor pretty cool. There is an area in the back called "The Wine Bar" where the staff will begin offering wine tastings. You can sign up with your email to be notified of tasting dates. There is a beer grotto, which is a walk-in fridge so you can pick out a case of cold beer. Near the beer gratto are two large screen TV's playing different sports games. If you need ice, they have a very large freezer. There is a small open fridge that contains several different cheeses to pair with your wine. On your way out, you will find four registers at the front. If you like cigars to go with your liquor they have a small selection at the front counter. Pricing is on par with other local competitors. Not sure if it was due to my visit being during opening day, but there were plenty of employees working behind the register and on the floor. We were asked if we needed help when we walked around. Cask & Barrel is a really nice addition to the City of Ripon.

Amazing selection fun to look around. Free tastings. Great service was able to buy Blantonsread more
