They checked my phone and noticed there was an active warranty and suggested I check to see if the screen was covered because it was going to cost a lot of money to repair. I was grateful for there honesty and left. I called back to schedule an appointment with them because it was not covered. I too was disappointed with this store vs. Your Saugus location which is superb. I was first told it wasn't worth rebuilding a 14V battery and that it would cost $80 when I knew it should be way less. Then they decided to take the battery anyways, only to call me to tell me they needed the charger. I never got the voicemail. Went to the store to pick up and they claimed they made a mistake with the number. Maybe....you should've told me originally that the charger was needed. Would've saved a boatload of time. But mistaken phone numbers do NOT account for the total amount of time lost to get a replacement battery done. I've gone to the Saugus store and never had issues with anything. I will go back to the Saugus location going forward and refuse anyone to go to this store going forward. End of review. read more

How is no one talking about the smoke? The employees smoke at the entrances so you are walking into a cloud of smoke to get in. They also smoke in the back. The entire store smells like cigarette smoke. It's no longer worth my health going here. read more

I needed a cell phone battery replaced. The service was friendy and efficient, and my phone now works again. I definitely recommend this store. I have just one issue. This review is being written during the COVID pandemic. The employees in the store were all properly masked, but the website advertises curbside service on its COVID measures page -- and that was refused. This is a small store fronting on its own parking area, my car was parked right in front, and the store was (fortunately) not too busy. So it would have been easy and much safer to conduct our business outside. We all had masks, but interacting at the counter, we are not socially distanced. I called about curbside service when I arrived but was told that I needed to enter. Trusting that we all remained safe. read more

Does not honor warranty. Bought a Duracell dual purpose cycling/starting flooded lead acid battery with 12month warranty last October. Used it in an RV that was almost always plugged in and trickle charging, then took it out for the winter and left it indoors connected to a battery management system. Put it back in in the spring. Again RV was almost always plugged in and charging maybe 10 deep cycles in fall and spring seasons combined. Around July battery became weak and would not hold a charge. Brought it in and connected to dedicated charge conditioner for 24hr and wouldn't go over 9.5v clearly a dead cell or two. In mid August bring it back for replacement and the CHOAD tells me "You must have let it freeze" then wants to sell me another? Not from you buddy. read more

I've used Batteries Plus stores for many, many years and have always been very impressed with their competence and customer service. I realize each store is owned by a franchisee, so corporate does not have direct control. My disappointment this past week was that when a web search directed me to the Woburn store as the one closest to my home address there was a compelling invitation to schedule my iPhone 5S battery replacement online. I assumed this helped the store be more efficient and would benefit me by limiting my wait time for the replacement. When I arrived 10 minutes before my scheduled time (1:30pm) with my email confirmation in hand (just in case there was some doubt about my scheduling it, plus it contained $10 off coupon) I was told that the soonest they might be able to have it done, if I left it there, would be 4:00pm. I protested a bit, noting that I scheduled it online several hours earlier and expected they would have sufficient tech resources to do the replacement on, or at least reasonably near, the time I scheduled. The, obviously frazzled, customer associate explained that they were really backed up and they had to do things in the order received. I'm OK with that, but maybe the store should not be offering online repair scheduling if they don't have the resources to support it. The good news is that I went to my car in the parking lot, searched for another Boston area shop that replaces iPhone batteries and found one on Mass Ave in Cambridge. I called them and they said they could do it in 30 minutes after dropping it off and quoted me a price of $50 instead of $69 that I would have gotten with the coupon in my confirming email. I immediately went to the newly found repair shop, dropped it off with the assurance from the tech, who was working on other phones, that I could come back in 30 minutes to pick it up. I returned in 30 minutes and it was ready for me, just as promised . . . and an hour sooner than the "we might be able to have it done by 4pm" speculation from the BP customer associate. Lesson learned . . . don't use the Batteries Plus online repair scheduler. It doesn't get you anything. Suggestion for Batteries Plus CEO, Russell Reynolds: Maybe the online scheduling isn't such a great idea, after-all, since it has a fairly high risk of frustrating customers. Or, since a confirming email is sent when the appointment is made, why not have the system send an UPDATE giving fair warning that the repair at the scheduled time cannot be made so that you don't have to drive to the store to get the bad news. Oh . . . I received a follow up email, several days later saying, "We missed you at your scheduled repair appointment: Battery Replacement for Apple iPhone 5S. We invite you to reschedule your appointment to have a Batteries Plus Bulbs technician inspect, diagnose, and repair your device." I don't think so! System fail, on so many levels. read more

It has the feel of a smaller store, where they remember your name and care about customers, but they also have top of the line expertise and knowledge. ZERO stars! Don't trust these guys with a simple WATCH battery change. I handed a sales rep a Skagen Watch to replace the battery (10 mos old) and the sales rep took it in back, I was waiting, waiting, finally peeked in the back, the guy was talking on the phone and replacing the battery, came back 5 minutes later, handed me a totally DAMAGED WATCH (all the crystals and face of the watch were BROKEN!??!). The owner of this franchise thought compensating me $30 for a 'used' watch was satisfactory on his part... I was SO upset at the time, that I took his cheap offer and have now paid OVER that for repairs at Skagen for the damage done by someone NOT paying attention to doing their job. Oh, and btw, there was a guy in there the same day with a HACK-SAW, swinging that around complaining about crappy service in there too. thought for sure he might chop everyone up, he was so upset! I read the bad reviews here and was concerned about going there but since my car needed a new battery and their price seemed reasonable (with free installation) I took a chance. Anyhow, I ordered the battery online to get a 10% discount, then someone from the store called me to tell me that I needed a different battery for the Honda Fit and it would be an extra $10 or so. The next day I went to the store and they told me that the person on the phone was also wrong and the battery I needed was actually another $8. I wasn't too upset since the guy was very nice, did the installation, and the battery he put in was clearly the right one so he wasn't trying to rip me off or anything. The final price was still $20 cheaper than AutoZone. So in conclusion, the website is probably full of inaccuracies but the people at the store (I interacted with 3 of them and watched them interact with other customers) were very very nice and helpful. read more

One of my general rules of shopping is that franchise operations aren't usually good for service. Too often a McDonald's, Burglar King or Dunkin' Donuts offers employees who don't care about being there or who don't want to spend much time taking care of customers' needs. That's why I prefer small businesses with only one or two locations. Woburn's Batteries Plus, however, is a welcome relief from the traditionally mediocre service of most chains. I've used them several times and haven't been disappointed at all. Usually they've had what I need right on the shelves and if they haven't, they've gotten it within one business day. Every time I've been in they've given me individual attention and, without my inquiring, have offered me discounts I didn't know they had. Prices are just a bit higher than many of the big box retailers or company owned stores and shoppers should try to be exact as possible about their power needs - it helps the sales staff. Overall, however, their products are very good and the service is exceptional. I'll be back, no question. read more

I have been buying bulbs and batteries for my home use, business use, watches, cars, and kids toys for years and they have always been prompt, courteous, informative, helpful, in every way possible. Everyone in there seems to enjoy their job and helping, but I have especially been helped by Steve, Steve Jr. and Chris. Steve Sr (genius by the way) has helped me modify several children's toys so that I get faster charges and longer run times with less money than the manufacturer replacement batteries. 173 Cambridge St., Woburn. I brought my ereader in to have the mini USB charging port repaired. Steve really wanted nothing to do with it. Told me it would cost more to fix it than the device was worth. When I said I thought the port only needed to be soldered to the circuit board, he informed me that the pins on the port were probably bent and the port would need to be replaced. According to Steve, that was a part they wouldn't have in stock and would never be able to get. I was glad to leave there. I don't understand why they advertise cell phone/tablets/etc repairs if they don't want anything to do with them. read more

They sold me a replacement battery for my John Deere lawn tractor. The battery lasted 9 months before it would no longer start the mower and it was labored the entire life of the battery. I took the machine to a repair shop only to be told that the battery was way undersized for the machine. The original battery in the mower lasted 5 years. After speaking with a manager they made it clear there would be no restitution for the error they made. I won't be going here ever again. read more

Don't believe what they tell you. I have no idea of the quality of their work, however what they say cannot be believed. I have a tablet (non-Apple) that needed a new battery. My husband called them with make and model and he was told, "yes, we replace those" and were given a reasonable price. Get there, and instead I am told "we don't do that brand, we won't open it for you, we don't sell tools that open them." I was offered the name of another store - one that only does Apple repairs. I'd be willing to call it a fluke - except that some time ago, we called about a specific battery, and were told "in stock!" Well, when we got there not only was it not in stock, but they did not carry those, either. So again, if you want something they have, perhaps they'll do a good job for you. One gave me a cart to take out to my car to put the battery on so it wouldn't be too hard for me to cary it into the store. The second man who helped me was very informative and was trying to help me find the best price for what I needed and then helped me carry the battery back to my car. I called the store and they were closing earlier than usual (like I was seeing everywhere) but said they will wait for me!!. and they did! both Andrew and Chuck were very helpful. they didn't have a 2 pack, just singles, but they gave me the 2pack price. I had about 1/2 dozen batteries from the security cameras I bought, which I'm having problems with. camera company said problem is with batteries. Chuck took time to get out his volt meter and check them all for me and most were fine. Brought in a remote asking whether they could tell whether the signal was actually being transmitted, that I had changed the battery and it wasn't that. Cocky counter guy gave me a runaround that it had to be the battery I bought at a drugstore, and when I told him I had tested with a volt meter and it was good, he then tried to prove my volt meter was inadequate. Kept telling me that testing "under load" would show whether it worked, insisted on selling me a new battery twice the drugstore price (and kept the old good one). It still doesn't work. I've had my iPhone 6 for just over 2 years so naturally the battery has been on a steady decline for awhile. Batteries Plus was able to do a quick assessment of my message, replace my battery and it's as good as new! Avoid this place. Brought a Toyota key that was working intermittently. The key didn't work it all after they replaced the battery and their answer was it must be a problem with the key. Brought it down the street to Lexington Toyota and they resolved the issue in seconds by putting the battery in facing the correct way. And the dealer's price was cheaper. read more

I find it interesting that there are a mix of good and bad reviews for this establishment. And someone says that the people who wrote that the people who wrote bad reviews should be on medication. Well, I think that person is half right, but the store is the one whom should be on medication. Let me say that I am a child of the Sears Craftsman lifetime warranty. Take a wrench, put it in a nuclear blast, tie it in the shape of a pony, and attack it with a sledge hammer. Bring it in to Sears and not even say a word. Put it down on the counter, they hand you a new one. Done and done. I bought a motorcycle battery two years ago, it died this spring with two weeks left of the warranty. Called up, they said bring it in, I get a new one. Drive the 40 minutes to get there, and am told that they will try to resuscitate the battery. I question if they do, and two months down the road it dies, what happens? I was told I would get a new battery. Cool. I left the battery, said I would be back the next weekend. I call on Thursday to see how things are going, by the long hold times and questions I figure no one even looked at the battery, then I am told they are still working on it, it will be ready on Saturday. I drive back up, 40 minutes each way, get the battery. It works for three weeks. I call up and again they want to play 20 questions. I made it plain that I wanted a new battery, the person said he would put one aside. Drive back up, 40 minutes each way. Explained that a new battery had been put aside for me. Tech grabs the volt meter and says he wants to check the old battery. I asked, very firmly, WHY? I think that this got through, I was handed the new battery. And off I went. And I will add, never to return. This is a shame. When I bought the original battery (in the Natick store, same owner) I was very, very impressed. The clerk and I got into a conversation about batteries, franchises, and owning a business. I took a bunch of cards and sent a few people there to get their iPhone screens fixed. Now, all that good will has been lost. For what? I am sure that Duracell reimburses them for warranty issues. Why the stupid games? You have lost a customer for life. I was debating to give one star, or two stars. (after all, I finally did get my replacement battery) but after reading what I wrote with the loss of three hours of my life driving there and back, I dropped it to one star. read more

He was helping me and then in mid-sentence another staff person pulls him away from me for a customer he is helping. Without even asking he says I will be right back. I was annoyed by this. She could wait till I was done. Then the other person comes out and says to her it will be a few minutes. He is doing it now. The guy looks at me and can tell I am not happy.
