    1st bullseye

Had a fantastic time throwing axes. I was a little nervous at first but the staff was very good at instructing me on how to throw like a pro. Got a few Bullseyes! I would definitely do this again.

I stopped in during one of their free open houses, as a total newbie....and I had a great time! The instructor was patient and attentive, alternating between giving tips and giving you space to just feel it out and practice for a bit. Throwing an axe was both easier and harder than I expected - easy to get started but difficult to get consistently good at. They also have a nice space to just hang out with a beer (full cash bar available!), billiards, fuseball, and a couple arcade games. It was fun to both throw axes and to watch the staff throw bullseyes effortlessly. I also tried the bigger, heavier axe, which was fun and mildly terrifying. Will definitely be back to practice some more!

I was here with my friends and family last night to celebrate my birthday (party of 5). I want to thank our coach, Michelle, for the lessons of teaching us how to throw axes properly & being part of a great time (especially with the contest & prizes). I hope she enjoys the chocolates

I had a lot of fun and it was a very unique experience, the guys running it were great and do all the counting and calling who is up next so you can just have fun! They even offered to take several group pictures at the end... Check in was quick and on done on iPads. The music they were playing was good and set a good vibe for the night! I really enjoyed playing even though I only won one round. A few small things they could improve on are... They could have a closet or coat rack, there was no where to hang our jackets. they could use more seating and better signage outside and on the door. The fridge was a little dirty. We arrived a bit early and were confused if we had the right spot they showed up right at 8. They should sell water i was having wine but got really thirsty it would of been great to have some water. All and all I had a good night doing something fun and different and I would do it again!

The Backyard Axe Throwing League is the first and only of its kind in Toronto. Created by Matt Wilson and located in a very cool loft conversion space on Sterling Rd. B.A.T.L. is an excellent and fun way to share random hobbies with people and to socialize. The loft space is roughly 1000 plus square feet with a raised mezzaine and very high ceilings. When I told my friends that I wanted to join this league they laughed at me stating " great that is all you need is another hardcore hobby". However, I rebuffed these comments and checked it out anyway! They have several league nights where people congregate and literally throw axes at targets! B.A.T.L. now has over 100 members, both men and women from all walks of life with all skill levels. It is extremely satisfying hurling an axe through the air at a target. The league members appear to be very nice, yet there is a still a strong competitive vibe. Matt Wilson is a crazy cool cat. He is patient and takes the time with new throwers to show them proper throwing and sharpening techniques and to explain the rules. B.A.T.L. also holds events! So, you may book a bday party, bachelorette/bachelor party, work party or corporate event to mix it up! League prices are totally reasonable=) I highly recommend the Backyard Axe Throwing League! But make um understand its Westside foe life!

Bar Lokys had a sign on the sidewalk that said "Watch the NBA Finals here!" and showed off a couple of their drink specials. Good enough, we thought. The bar is located down a short staircase and around a graffiti-covered wall. Looks kinda sketchy at first but once you get past the wall you see quite a well-decorated wooden interior. There was a good-looking pool table right in the center of the bar. It was totally empty except for the two employees working (not a big deal, it was a Tuesday after all). There was a lot of basketball memorabilia on the walls and behind the bar, so we knew we had made the right choice. The employees greeted us and let us sit at the table closest to one of the two big screen TVs. They kindly asked us if we wanted the volume higher, which we gratefully accepted. We were then given drink menus and were stunned at how cheap the beers here were. For indexing purposes, a domestic bottle was $3.50, and premium imports were $5, taxes in. It is a Lithuanian bar so they had quite a few European options as well. The staff were clearly knowledgeable about basketball, and were nice enough to offer conversation throughout the game. Though the bar was totally empty, I still had a good experience here. I'm not in this area often so I'm not sure I'll return, but I'll definitely recommend it if you're in the area.

Our first choice was completely full, so we walked a little and wound up at The Wicket. I'm so glad we did. We immediately managed to snag a pretty sweet table and the guy who served us was very friendly and efficient. Everyone wound up getting beer and I decided to order the Fried Chicken Sandwich ("lettuce, tomato and sriracha aioli") for food. It's a decent sandwich. The bread and toppings were quite good, and the fried chicken was fresh and tasty. I will say, though, that the chicken itself wasn't exactly plentiful. It seemed like a got a few bites that were either just bread or just fried breading. Still, I loved the ambiance and the service. I'll definitely return.

Ambiance - 4/5: similar to most sports bar, it's dim and loud with a lot of sports games on tv. They had a lot of reservations so the tables were split off for our small reservation. It felt a little tight. There seems to be 2 levels of seating. Service - 3.75/5: we got there early but they were nice enough to seat us early. The host sweetly pulled out my seat for me. It took us awhile to decide what to order but the server was patient with us. He checked in on us a few times. Maybe because the tables are tight, servers kept knocking into my chair seving other patrons and my seat is all the way into the table. Food - 3.5/5: I appreciate that the menu gives little historical moments that happened over the years. we ordered: Spinach dip - comes with chips and pita. Some of the chips were heavily seasoned. The pita is soft but doesnt really absorb much of the spinach dip. The dip itself is light in flavor. I prefer the chips over the pita Steak frites - we ordered medium rare and they got the cook right. The steak knife is very bendy. It should have been a AAA striploin but for some reason it felt tough and was hard to cut through. The charcoal grill marks made the exterior too burnt, giving it a bitterness to the steak. It came with an arugula salad and a very genorous portion of fries. Everything was seasoned well. The arugula salad and the chimmichuri on the steak had a tartness to it which added some brightness to the dish. I typically don't use ketchup but I needed it to help me with the fries. I could not finish the fries Sundae - there's probably only 1 scoop worth of vanilla ice cream. It comes in a cup with whipped cream and berries. Overall: 3.75/5 - If we come back, I might try other food items.

Food-wise, we ALWAYS get the Garlic Knots; they're our absolute favourite. We've never had a bad menu item here, and the drinks are always solid. One important tip: I highly recommend booking in advance, especially on any sort of game day. This place fills up fast, and for good reason.
