Hell yeah! I love feeling like a real man's man! Throwing axes at walls while I roar with unbridled ferocity. You think, how is throwing axes at a wall fun for 2 hours? What you don't know is it turns into a fierce competition of might and ego. I'm riding on a bit of an axe-throwing high right now. I beat out a bunch of dudes and got top 3 on our personal leaderboard and it's really getting to my head. Friends and I arrived in a sketchy commercial complex for a birthday axe throwing party. That whole area near Yorkdale is a surprise. Sketchy from the road but filled with fun little gems like BATL, archery tag places, and escape rooms. BATL was equally surprising. Small entrance, huuuuge warehouse inside decked with multiple axe throwing lanes. From start to finish, the guys here were super nice and super fun. Nate signed us in and gave us the tour. He stuck around until our coach came and then frequently checked up on us to see that we were well hydrated through their nice selection of alcoholic beverages. Francesco was our coach. Not only was he a good teacher and kept us safe and in line, he was really good at feeding off the energy of the group. My friend group dynamics include a lot of mocking, taunting, and general inappropriateness. Francesco fit right in. He called us trash and we threw better. It was nice. For about $40, we competed with each other and threw axes at a bull's eye for ~2.5 hours. It was fun, it was intense, and I was living out a lumberjack assassin fantasy. The best part is when you tie with the other person and they bring out the big axe. Awwww yeah... (68/100) - 2018

We went to their Spring open house for their free axe throwing event. The location is situated near Yorkdale Mall which I find really convenient, however their exact location was hard to find as it was tucked in those industrial area. Price is about $20 ish for an hour of axe throwing. The staffs there were extremely helpful and friendly. They told us that it started as throwing axes to targets at backyard (hence the name BACKYARD), then it became bigger and bigger til they ran out of space at the backyard so the founders decided to rent spaces and made it as the company. They taught us how to throw axes properly and even played games with it. Each stations have its own coach that will monitor you and give pointers to improve your throws. Ideal place for a bunch of friends, dates, and birthday events. Definitely will go back!!!

Bullseye! ;)

A group of us had visited BATL for the first time due to a friends B-day that we were celebrating. Overall we were all extremely happy with our experience here! The staff did a great job in giving us our safety briefs and the time to practice before we got into doing some competition rounds. I'd definitely come back again! :) Some small things I'd suggest in the future though for the owner(s) to consider is (A) making a sign off of Bridgeland more visible. There's nothing really popping out to make drivers aware of what building BATL is really in. And (B) getting a liquor license (would be great to either BYOB or purchase on site).

Axe throwing was a blast for us. We planned a corporate event at this location which ran very smooth thanks BATL. Once we got there we were explained all the rules and regulation and were quickly stated on the training session. All staff members were very friendly and sociable. The place looks small from outside but they have a huge warehouse on the inside. We played about many games and let me tell you it was a blast. Two side battling each other to win for the top title...pure stress relief and team building. They also have some signs which you can take pictures. Wear flexible and easy clothes and shoes. Overall, Great fun, with very awesome friendly service! Everyone was happy and had a great fun activity!

For my 25th birthday I decided I wanted to try something new. I'm over going to the club and dropping it like it's hot. I want to throw some axes! I know sounds super dangerous especially since it's BYOB but they have many safety precautions to ensure no one looses a limb. I'm not going to lie, the first time holding an axe was a bit intimidating. Throwing an axe is not something most people can say they have done. You are basically going against what common sense tells you to do. I mean we were all taught not to run with scissors, now I am spiralling an axe towards a board. Pretty bad ass feeling if I do say so myself. Every group comes with coaches to get you started then they organize a competition with point scores and narrate with microphones. Totally worth 45 dollars a person! Each area comes with a fridge and table so I brought pop, alcohol, food and cutlery. I saw one station and they had a slow cooker plugged in. How smart! Everyone here is so nice. The staff is so friendly it makes you want to work there. The company was started by two brothers that started it in their garage I believe. They personally came up and introduced themselves and wished me happy birthday. As I walked around other staff members started wishing me happy birthday. It was truly a unique experience. It's rare to experience hospitality like that. This was definitely one of my favourite birthdays! There were a lot of people who were reluctant to try axe throwing but by the end everyone had a great time and said they would come again.

Such a fun night!

I came here for my work staff party not too long ago. Apparently we were the first big group at that location. It was so much fun!! The staff were so nice and helpful and really walked you through the process. They were super patient and understanding of the fact that this activity was completely foreign to some people. It was a great night and it was the best feeling ever when your throw would actually hit the target! It's also pretty cool that you're allowed to bring in food, drinks and alcohol. Nothing like throwing back a few drinks while tossing some axes :P I would definitely recommend this place to people and go back.

Great place to hang out with your friends. Although I was going to take another star off for the hefty price tag (around $45/p), the friendly staff made up for it. When you enter, you will be required to fill a waiver on an ipad. Then you will be guided to a laneway with a staff member who goes over the rules with your group. Everyone then gets a few tries at throwing the axe. Bullseye is 5pts, inside the red is 3pts and blue is 1pt...etc. When the instructional time is over, your group will get to play against each other in a round robin game. Basically, the players with the highest points goes into finals. Axe throwing may sound intimidating, but it gets much easier as you go. The staff is great in helping each person along the way. I also like how they let you bring outside food and beer. Our group was able to order pizza delivery while we were playing. Overall, you should try this if you have not tried this latest trend in summer activities! :D

Definitely had a great time. You can never go wrong with a combination of great friends, beer and throwing sharp $**+ at a target. The only downfall would be for the newer players as there is a lot of down time if you don't progress through the round robin and tournament. But that's what the beer is for. They need to have a better system in place to keep track of payments. A deposit was made and was not accounted for at billing. It took about 30 minutes to rectify the issue.

She put that on the table but didn't touch it and even ordered a plate of home fries. She got asked to relocate the food to the kitchen which I understand of the food policy of each restaurant. However, she promised to put it away but my colleague said the staff kept checking if she was gonna eat the take out instead. I think is kinda rude to do that or nowadays people just don't trust the others. Service was soso. Monday was not a busy night but didn't know why the service was like that. I ordered chicken wings and I think it was a bit over-cooked or it supposed to be that dry.

If you're looking for a place to subside your hunger, do not come here. If lack the physical ability to defend yourself, do not come here. And if you are a York University student looking for some late night grub, don't have a car and this was the only place open, still..do not come here! I have been here on several occasions, none of which were voluntary, and all of them during the late hours. I like to call it: 'The Hoops of York' You will never have trouble finding parking here as the enormous lot caters exclusively to its patrons at night with every other store closed. This run-on sentence concludes everything good I have to say about Hoops. Upon entrance, you are met by baseball caps, size XXL collared shirts on medium sized people, medium Tapout shirts on XXL people, students who should be studying at the Library at York instead, and clusters of Abercrombie & Fitch catalogue rejects. You will see beings of all stereotypes, and if you're lucky you might even see the waitress who is supposed to seat you. There are plenty of flat screens to keep you distracted while you endure the unbearable wait for your food. They go out of their way in promoting the wings here, and if you order anything else, I suggest you bring a Rubik's cube to keep you company. The portion of the wings & fries are generous, but once you sink your teeth in, it quickly becomes obvious that these wings have been frozen..and probably for a long time. Seriously, what on Earth do they expect you to do with all that fries?! Don't come here with more than a group of four. But if you are, I hope for your sake there's a game on, and you're planning to watch it til the end. On certain days of the week, you'll get some army guys from the armoury nearby after 10:30 at night. Whether you support the troops or not, for goodness sake do not go near them. They will start a fight with you, as they believe they own the place. But that just about goes for every click who frequent here. There is an air of tension between each table. Someone once threatened me saying that his uncle was "up there" with the Hell's Angels. So naturally I told him that my uncle was "up there" with Toronto Police, and it would be lovely if our uncles were ever to meet. It gets pretty busy at night with students who don't know how to cook, and are too good for instant noodles. They even have a DJ booth at the elevated section spinning everything I hate. The restaurant is horribly under staffed, and it appears that the bartender seconds as the manager at front of house. Its miraculous that anyone here gets their order at this place. Honestly, my Yorkie friends. Forget about taking your hot classmate here to try to inebriate her. Just do her homework instead. It's faster.

The food here accompanied me through the pandemic pretty much. I thought about it the other day, so I brought my mom back here to dine in. My mom really likes a Vietnamese pork chop, so I want to see if she would enjoy the Filipino charcoal-grilled version of it (she rarely had any Filipino food in her life). We ordered the BBQ grill platter with rice and four tacos to share since our visit was on a Tuesday. So, we actually didn't enjoy the tacos as much. The jerk chicken had an unexpected vinegar flavour (it was more like a chicken adobo), and the other chicken was served as popcorn chicken with spicy mayo. I was not the biggest fan, I have to say. The fish and beef tacos were better than the chicken ones, but there was nothing too special about them. The grilled platter was the hit, though--to me, grilled meat and dishes are always the signature of limitless. The meats were full of charcoal flavour. The pork chop & the skrewers were lean yet fragrant without being overly greasy (like many other restaurants). They went super well with rice. I was hoping that they would serve the raisin coleslaw tho--those were great back then, lol. I bet the Kamayan feast at Limitless would be worth a try. I'll come back with my gang of kuyas another day

I've been to the Hoops downtown Toronto many times, but only because its closest place to get a beer during Fan Expo. The food was average at best so I didnt have high hopes for this location. We wandered in on a Friday night, and boy has it changed since The Smoke was there. There are tv's EVERYWHERE, which is pretty awesome. The place is pretty ugly though. Yeesh. Talk about drab. The staff are all very young and inexperienced, but very nice and accommodating, and got our orders perfectly. This place just opened so I'm sure it wont take long for them to feel more natural and at ease. The bar was impressive and has a great selection of liquors. This place will be perfect for anyone coming just to watch and game and have a drink. Cuz the food is not great. I ordered the special of the day, steak fajitas. They were awful. Steak was overcooked and bitter. Hard to bite through. The veggies were slimy. Yuck. My wife's chilli nachos were pretty good! Fyi there is no kid's menu, so we got our kid chicken fingers and fries. The fries were decent. The chicken fingers were bland but were cooked well and had an awesome crisp to them. But yeah bland chicken fingers. It was also drafty in there. Chilly. Not cozy. They did have a DJ there playing who was good, music gave a good vibe to the place for a Friday night. In the end this place feels like a pub from 15 years ago, when this kind of food was expected from a pub, before all the chain pubs stepped up their food game. Stick to the booze and enjoy the game, and you'll like this place. And hey the fries are good.

She asked us what we wanted for drinks with no menu to choose from, so we asked for a menu and for our table to be cleaned (again). She gave me a dirty look, scoffed, and walked away. A THIRD waitress came to clean the table and take our order (finally). She came to check on us once, and about an hour after we sat down we needed a refill with no waitress in sight. My boyfriend had to walk up to the bar to ask for a refill, and waitress #2, who was dressed as if she were in her pyjamas at home, didn't even acknowledge him. Eventually he ordered and sat back down. She placed our drinks at the other end of the bar. At this point, we were getting pissed off by the lack of respect and service here. He asked if she would bring it to the table and she said "you ordered it at the bar, you can pick it up at the bar". He said "I'd like to have it brought to my table and pay there or I can leave." She replied "walk out and I call the cops, you've been rude since you sat down." Since we sat down, waitresses didn't give us even a glimpse of eye contact for 10 minutes and we had to go and ASK for service. Apparently that's being rude. I have never had such shitty service ANYWHERE to this degree, to the point where my boyfriend and I were both angry to the point we were shaking. Do NOT go here unless you want to be treated like shit.
