I visited Escape Manor for a corporate Christmas party. I didn't know this place existed tbh, but I had a lot of fun! We did the Death Row room, had a few bites to eat, and played some darts. The escape room was on the tougher side but was still very enjoyable, especially considering our group had people that were mostly unfamiliar with escape rooms. We then had some food - their nachos, bruschetta, and spinach dip are really yummy, would recommend getting them to share. I had the turkey bacon club for myself and it came with a lot of chips on the side, and the club itself was pretty good. We then played a round of darts, and it was pretty cool that the dart board had a sensor to move the game along and tally up points automatically. Would definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for a fun night for a group outing! read more

This was, without a doubt, one of the best nights out I've had with my girlfriends. I am officially, profoundly hooked. We did one of their amazing rooms, and even though we didn't escape, the challenge was exhilarating. To be fair, it was the first time for five out of the six of us, so we're already plotting our redemption tour. A major bonus here is that you can order drinks while you're in the rooms. We had already pre-gamed with a healthy amount of tacos, margaritas, and sangria, so we didn't partake this time. But for our next adventure? It's on. Escape Manor, you've created a monster. We stumbled across this venue, while stumbling down King St looking for a patio to squat at. We popped our heads inside to see if we could get service on the patio and were warmly greeted by welcoming and friendly staff. Had we not been hell bent on hanging outside we would have gladly stayed inside, it is BEAUTIFULLY decorated! Like something out of a novel or luxury game of Clue. This is one of the best escape rooms I've been to. The clues are really well made, acting was great, and overall a really fun time. I also love how all the games are private. The different themes rooms range from 2 to 10 players, but they close the room when someone books it instead of putting you in with random strangers like other places. I thought this place was absolutely fabulous. It's a well thought out in terms of what you can do beyond the escape rooms. We arrived early for a private escape room we booked. We were seated to wait and ordered some food and played a game of ticket to ride before our assigned time. Staff were all professional and were in character when we walked into our escape room. I came to Escape Manor for the escape room. Man, I didnt expect what I walked in on. This place is pretty great. Location: King west by MEC, Parking: On the streetcar route, no street parking but lots of underground building parking. Building: In in one of the old brick buildings that have managed to not have been torn down and replaced by a condo. Decor: Wow nice. It's like a fancy English private club. Dark wood, low lights, big furniture, plush seating, and a big bar. They have large armoires for coats and lots of tables with games. Board games, wooded puzzles, and an old school pacman table game (that has about 30 1980s classics - free to play) This place just reeks of class and comfort. Not like the other game places they want you to stay here. The goods: So like I said, I came for the escape room but this place has so much more. Theres the fully licenced bar with the puzzles, board and video games but also have axe throwing! The escape room was so much fun. The puzzles were smart and relative to the story. The room was quality, using good condition props, not old throw aways from your parents basement. We escaped with minutes to spare. Wooo! Staff: Everyone was super. Been wanting to check them out for a while since they have an interesting storefront (exterior has a rusty, asylum theme) that makes them stand out from the surrounding stores. Upon looking into them, I was surprised to find not only escape rooms but also axe throwing and decided to book that for a Friday evening with friends. We went with a group of 6 (currently the max amount - not sure if this is a COVID maximum or has always been like this) and booked the 'Axe Throwing Power Hour'. Upon entering, I was pleasantly surprised to find a bar on the main floor which has an interesting vibe given the theme I mentioned above - would definitely come back for the bar. We quickly signed our waivers and they escorted us upstairs where the axe throwing happens. The Power Hour is essentially a session where they teach you to throw various axes (chopping axes to splitting axes) through a variety of games. While we were scheduled for an hour, it does take over an hour for the entire session (waivers, explanations, etc.) so I recommend scheduling in some leeway time afterwards. Drinks were also available and expect regular bar prices. Our host was awesome and contributed to the experience. He had great energy and patience in showing us the proper way to throw axes. Couldn't remember his name but he deserves a name drop for his enthusiasm. One thing I'd note is that if you aren't a member, there WILL be a host alongside your group the entire time. Only members get to participate on their own without a host. Apparently for members on Tuesday evenings, you can bring whatever you'd like to throw at the targets (scissors, knives, etc.). Really great spot for groups and even couples. Very pleased they even offered escape rooms for just two people (normally you need a group of 4 or more). Our room (Asylum) was well decorated, challenging (we didn't finish), and definitely creepy. Our host was awesome and provided us clues when we called from the phone in room in case you get stuck. Food and bar were also nice. Service was a little slow but there was some problem in the kitchen. Still, overall, I would recommend for just the rooms alone! read more

The lounge is beautiful, and it's a nice place to hang out before and after your activities. You can bring your drinks in to your escape game, even if you probably won't escape using that strategy. But hey, you'll have a good time, and isn't that what this is about? I can only speak on one game, Wine Cellar, which was really fun and not too scary. You can ask for hints if you need it once you find the walkie talkie in the game. There's a good variety of the types of puzzles and it was nice to have music in the background, even if the soundtrack turned into ominous messages every once in a while. I don't want to say too much more about the game, other than Wine Cellar is a good one for beginners to try. We'll be back to try other games read more

you know your girl had to cross the country and give this place a go. A bar/lounge, axe throwing upstairs, AND escape rooms? I had to make the trip from Vancouver to check this place out. Being the tourist I was, we did not make a reservation and relied on potentially making friends or hoping someone wouldn't show up for their reservation. We lucked out and someone didn't show for their reservation and we were able to get in. My advice is to absolutely make a reservation so you're not putting out the staff and can have a guaranteed good time. Great food selection and insanely fun drinks! You can bring in your drink to the rooms which is a great added bonus! There were only 3 of us so I was sure we wouldn't make it out, but clearly we do too many escape rooms and made it out with 20 minutes to spare. The rooms were the perfect amount of challenging and fun. If I lived in Toronto I would be here every week if I could. Staff are so nice and the experience is immersive within the escape room and it's a total blast. will absolutely recommend this place to anyone in Toronto. read more

Great concept but poor execution. Pros: Friendly bar staff and hostess, beautiful lounge and reasonably priced drinks. Additionally they host Trivia nights in their lounge space. Almost at each table has a board game set aside, usually Jenga or Taboo to groups into a good vibe. Cons: Booking- So this past Saturday (June 22) we were celebrating a milestone birthday and were very excited to try and escape room at the Escape Manor. My partner attempted a booking through their online system but was prompted to call the venue. When he tried to call, he was not able to reach anyone directly and had to leave a voicemail. There was a lot of missed calls back and forth but eventually after 3 weeks a booking was made through the phone. The Escape Room- We had selected the Asylum because the theme seemed most appealing. Overall the room was okay; the design was interesting enough but we've played in rooms in past that have had more elaborate designs. The look of the room seemed a little unfinished but it was serviceable. The puzzles had a lot of ambiguity as to which solutions were assigned to which lock. The following experience ruined the room. We are provided one hint if we requested it from the staff and we took it up on their offer when we were met with lock that was defective. Basically with 10 minutes left and several of us trying to open the lock as instructed, we asked for assistance. When a staff member came in, he attempted to open the lock and failed to do so (while killing the time on our clock) even though he had performed the same methods and tasks we had. We were basically unable to continue to the rest of the room because this lock was a major component to our escape. We were let down not because we did not escape, but because the room was rigged for us to fail. The staff member tried to justify saying that others in the past other groups have been able to open the lock, but it seemed dismissive of how our experience was ruined. Especially in light of the fact that he himself was unable to open the lock while eating up our available time to escape the room. The staff member tried to appease our disappointment by giving us a 20% discount to our next booking, which I felt was not the appropriate course of action. After all, why would I be incentivized to make a new booking if one of your basic components to solving the puzzle did not even function properly? I hope that the company takes heart on how they approach their displeased customers in the future. The experience was so empty that we weren't even offered to take pictures as a group which is usually the customary Escape room experience. After our Escape room, we had a drink to enjoy the lounge at least. Even though they had a nice lounge to relax in, I am unlikely to recommend this venue for their Escape rooms in the future. read more

This place is amazing ! Booked a corporate event there and they were so great. You can drink on site and the bar area is beautiful, but you can also take drinks into the rooms! So cool. We divided into 3 teams and did three rooms at the same time. Our room was Devils Avocate and was so much fun!! I've done a lot of escape rooms without much thinking involved but this was very puzzle heavy. We had 5 people in the group - I think 5-7 people would be best. You needed a lot of eyes at all times, and people working on different things at different times. The staff were super nice and the price was exactly what you'd want: $29 per person which is like going to the movies. Highly recommend for corporate team building! read more

This visit was worth traveling from out of town. The ambiance of the lounge made it hard to resist extending your stay to play some more board games. We were having so much fun, we ended up booking a second escape room for later that night (on a Sunday.) Jess our waitress was AMAZING. I ended up spilling my husband's beer everywhere, and she made me feel less embarrassed about the situation. The escape room staff were also amazing and when the room was completed, gave us a quick "behind the scenes" insight, (can't share what it was, don't want to spoil the fun.) The food was definitely a snack and apps menu for sharing, not meant to fill you up. I enjoyed the complimentary popcorn. We ordered the nachos, and it lacked chicken. With that being said, I still give it a great rating because the quality of the service, entertainment and ambiance made it memorable and a worth-while visit. read more

Came here over the weekend with some pals. She recently had her holiday party here and thought that we might have fun going as a group axe throwing. We booked in as a group of six, brought our own snacks (since they don't have a kitchen) and ordered drinks from their fancy bar set-up. The place is pretty elaborate spread out across 15,000-square-foot and three-floors. It also features escape rooms, board games, and lounges. What I loved is that the person who taught us how to ax throw never rushed us through anything, and also made us feel totally chill about things. I have been to BATL before and had a lot of fun, and this had the same good vibes. Maybe because it was earlier in the day, but we had TONS of room for our group on a Saturday afternoon, which was a bonus. Plus, they were BIG on safety. The one thing I will say is that it was pretty pricey. For my partner and I to throw axes for two hours with two alcoholic bevies and an auto-grat, it came to $110 (if I remember correctly). This was more expensive that when I went to BATL, but the place is a lot more spiffy. So I guess, we have to take that into consideration. Would totally recommend for a birthday party or corporate event. read more

We came with my husband and another couple to do the 'Wine Cellar' escape room. The theming inside was great, but I think they could have done a better job at setting the story up. The puzzles/hints were a good variety to keep you interested the whole time and challenged, but for the complexity of the room, you required much more than 45 minutes to have a chance to solve it. Visited: September 2020 I have (thus far) never had a negative experience with Escape Manor. The Place: Convenient location with both limited on-street parking and nearby affordable parking lots within walking distance. Interior decor looks great, with a retro 30's-era speakeasy feel and some modern twists. The Room: We attempted 'The Final Viewing' and nearly completed it before time ran out. I would put this room difficulty at moderate (7/10) as the puzzles are very intuitive and solvable with a little bit of brainpower and teamwork. Detail is fantastic, and I will try spoiling as little as possible so that you may experience it as fresh as you can. A staff member plays a more active role in the room than I've previously experienced with other Escape Rooms and this led to a few unexpected scares. Unfortunately, one potential fun aspect of the room had to be modified for COVID precautions, but other than that, it was an excellent and appropriately challenging experience. Came here after finding out that it was brand new opened just 3 weeks ago. We decided to come since we heard that it was one location with various things that we enjoy, cocktails and drinks, escape rooms, and violence through axe throwing! To be fair, this is a review not on their escape rooms since we haven't done the yet - but we plan on going soon and then i'll have to come back and change my review to fit it but today, got there in the late afternoon, there wasn't anyone really there yet since it was still early, but the hostess was super nice, she actually gave us a tour of the place, the axe throwing room upstairs, the escape room downstairs, and the lounge area on the main floor. the whole place is super cosy and really seems like just a nice little place to get some drinks after a long day of work, so even without the axe throwing and the escape rooms, i'm already quite impressed with the lounge area. there are comfy sofas, armchairs, and chairs, each table has a little game that you can play with your friends - e.g. reloaded where you shock each other, shoot the moon (which we spent about an hour on) where you try to roll the ball from one end to the other to get the highest points, catch phrase (you've probably seen this on some late night show before), chess, and other puzzle games the drinks are great - strong and pretty reasonable in prices great little place for some drinks with friends, chat and have some fun! finally came back to try one of the escape rooms. We did the Asylum with 8 people (the max number of people), at first i was a little worried that we might not have enough to do cause we had so many of us there, but they assured us that usually, even with larger groups everyone will still find that they're kept busy throughout the game. Before starting the hostess came up to us to explain the rules and then brought us to the room, it was a little creepy and the story she told before us starting the room made it so much creepier! the room itself was fun and challenging enough with enough puzzles that kept all of us more or less busy we finished the room waaaay ahead of time - we ended up escaping in 32 minutes! our group are a bit of escape room veterans, so compared to other escape rooms we've done, the puzzles are good, the room was very well done, props were good, but it's not as "high tech" as some other escape rooms. Majority are lock and boxes, a couple of other cool interactive stuff. In the end we all enjoyed it a lot, it was a load of fun, and we're definitely gonna come back to do the other ones! read more

A group of us went to Escape Manor on a Friday night to celebrate my husband's birthday. The venue is huge, and has a great medieval vibe. The board games in the main floor bar area are great - when we were there, there were lots of groups playing. Bar staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the beers on tap. We did the "classic" axe throwing with Jon. The axe-throwing lanes are nicely set up, and very clean. Lots of places to put your stuff, and chairs/tables to hang out at while you wait your turn. The bar service in the axe area was a great touch! Jon was an amazing coach! By the end of the night, all 8 of us had hit the bullseye at least once thanks to his tips! We had a blast playing the games that he organized for us too. Thanks Jon! I would highly recommend the Escape Manor for a fun night out! Had an absolutely wonderful time, we came for the Axe Throwing: Power Hour. The bar staff/service was extremely friendly, and our host was a ton of fun! He made everybody comfortable with our different skill levels , and he had us laughing the entire time! We played several different games, and apparently there are a bunch more axe throwing games to try next visit. I will definitely be coming back again to try the escape room!
