We'd just come from checking out the cherry blossoms at High Park (overrated, says I) and were in need of some food and drink. Our first choice was completely full, so we walked a little and wound up at The Wicket. I'm so glad we did. We immediately managed to snag a pretty sweet table and the guy who served us was very friendly and efficient. Everyone wound up getting beer and I decided to order the Fried Chicken Sandwich ("lettuce, tomato and sriracha aioli") for food. It's a decent sandwich. The bread and toppings were quite good, and the fried chicken was fresh and tasty. I will say, though, that the chicken itself wasn't exactly plentiful. It seemed like a got a few bites that were either just bread or just fried breading. Still, I loved the ambiance and the service. I'll definitely return. read more

I went to a dinner at The Wicket with friends. It's a quaint little sports bar. The ambience isn't very special but, the food and beer is quality. They mostly have local beer on top. I had the Henderson's Food Truck. Henderson's is a local brewery and I've had it prior it's always good. I ordered the Fried Chicken dinner. The dinner came with fries and two boneless chicken thighs. The fries were delish my girlfriend ended up eating them on me. They had a very McDonald's vibe. The fried chicken was well seasoned and juicy! The Wicket is a cool spot. We are running out of cool small local bars and need to continue supporting them. Stumbled upon The Wicket (via Yelp) after a stroll through High Park. Location -- pretty central to High Park. Parking is street side but we didn't have any issues. Given, this was a Sunday evening. Service -- Our waitress was nice, helpful and attentive. The bar was only half-full (it's pretty tiny but I believe they do have an upstairs). Menu -- A really, really simple one pager. I liked that, only because it made ordering food so much simpler. Food -- I ordered the wings in 'Wicket Medium'. They were ok. Just your average buffalo/bbq wing (not breaded). I also ordered fries and the 'Wicket Hot' sauce on the side. Both I enjoyed. Wicket Hot was definitely better than medium but forewarning, it is actually pretty spicy. Overall my experience was a bit above average. Would I go back? Probably not since it's out of the way from where I'm normally located but if I'm in the area again, I would. :) 4.5/5 read more

Super chill and friendly. Pool table upstairs!! Food is limited to burgers, two salads, some fried things and a few mains like shepherds pie. Full bar and a good selection of beers, server was great at recommending one that we liked and let us try a couple to help us decide. Food arrived hot and delicious. The chicken sandwich and fries were great. Roast beef was meh, but mashed potatoes and greens were good. read more

All around the service was sub par. It seems like they needed help getting stuff out. The food took a while to arrive. The food was ok. We got our main courses before the appetizer, which could then be described as a piece of bread with butter that was nuked for 45 seconds with shredded cheese on top. Decent pub. Decent prices. Nachos isn't great but burgers are fair. There is a bunch of similar pubs in the vicinity so don't shy away from exploring! Good place for catching the game and they have a games section upstairs! read more

Good vibes, friendly service, nice people. We didn't try the food we were there for drinks only. We were able to meet the owner he was helping out at the bar and acting as server. Our drinks arrived promptly. This is a cool place to people watch and enjoy the music. Carrying on a conversation would require screaming because the music is very loud. Came here for a small get together of old school peeps from back in the day.. Haven't really visited much of the bar scene in this area and wasn't sure what to expect. A little small but still nice I would have to admit. Went upstairs and saw that they have a pool table at the far back. Can't complain when it would be nice to have a beer or two and play. Wasn't all that up for drinking, but staff were nice enough and friendly to provide us with change in order to do so. There's plenty of bar that I could be in (because there's a lot) but I always come back because of the environment and amostphere. Just like Nigel his staff and regulars are personable and friendly. Popped in here for a quick bite with my boyfriend before a pinball tournament next door. We took advantage of the half priced wings and I ordered a pint of the High Park brew. I liked the overall aesthetic of the place, it was true to its local watering hole moniker. Wings were absolutely delicious; perfectly seasoned and amazing suicide sauce. Beer was fantastic. Great quality food and service! We sat upstairs and really enjoyed the server, she was knowledgeable and nice. She made recommendations based on our food restrictions and didn't bat an eye. That was much appreciated! We each had a burger; they were massive and juicy. Very impressive! All in all, I'd be happy to go back another time. This place was fun! Came here on my birthday day for some after dinner drinks. Friends of the people we were with had booked the upper level for their birthday, and it was a great atmosphere. Also, the bartenders are awesome - joined me in some whiskey shots to ring my birthday in! The atmosphere is rather pleasant, especially so in the absence of self-absorbed harridans of Ms. F's ilk. Best bean-based veggie burger I've found in Toronto. SO good. Also, the regulars recommend the the onion rings (which looked amazing).

I downloaded this app just to leave this review. I came to this restaurant after a long day and I was very very hungry the first thing I got was a dirty pint of draft beer that didn't taste very well and I send it back. the waitress who happens to be the manager gave me attitude just for sending back the beer so when my burger came I noticed there was the thick tomato paste on the bottom and asked a menu to check what it was. I was confirmed that I had ordered a burger with a tomato relish that didn't taste very well it was bland and boring and did nothing to improve the burger which was slightly burnt. Before i could ask for a new bun the manager yelled at me from behind the bar that i was being a rude mean bitch. Then told to me to not bother paying and just leave because only nice people dine there. Literally only wanted to have a drink and dinner after a rough day and just did as she asked and took my business else where. also this blonde women didn't even bother giving us her name. read more
