Went during happy hour with some colleagues and had a pretty good time! Service was prompt and friendly. I ordered my all-time favourite - the meat pie - and it definitely delivered. Tacos were surprisingly good too! That said, the fries and chicken tenders didn't hit the mark--kind of a letdown compared to the rest of the menu. Prices are decent considering you're in downtown Toronto. Overall, solid spot for after-work bites.

I had supper last evening at Elephant & Castle. I ordered Manta's Butter Chicken (curried tomato cream sauce with cashew butter topped with chopped cilantro & spiced yogurt, served with basmati rice & grilled garlic naan bread). It wasn't great ... the rice and naan were the best part. I wasn't sure what kind of meat was in it at first as it looked like ground beef. Once I dug around a bit, I found chunks of chicken that seemed to be left over seasoned grilled chicken from yesterday.

A proper British pub and restaurant! No need to cross the Atlantic. Here, you can find lively environs and classic Rock n' Roll tunes. The fish n' chips were phenomenal! Good quality, good texture, fresh fish, good portions! The waiters were also super nice and attentive. They were all in good spirits and greeted us warmly, especially when we came in from the crisp cold weather outside. It was quite refreshing. I loved the design as it did feel like the cellars or tasting room of a castle. Sports channels were on in every which direction! Huzzah! For the King and Queen! For the Alliance!

A busy pub in a central location. Situated right by the Mirvish theaters and close to the blue jays stadium, this pub does get busy. Luckily you can book ahead of time using open table! This is a truely british style pub bringing yorkshire pudding, curries and shepard's pie to the menu. Poutine - The base of all poutines are the fries, unfortunatley these were not good. I am looking for crispy exterior and fluffy interior and I got only a bit of both. The gravy was a bit too salty for my liking. I felt that the gravy was also slightly different from a typical gravy. They maybe added a bit of curry powder to the gravy making it pretty unique. Would not get again. Sunday Roast - The roast beef was dry, the gravy did help a bit, but still couldn't save it. The yorkshire pudding was good, light and puffy and soaked in the savoriness of the gravy. Mash potatoes were just ok. Hard to find yorkshire pudding anywhere else, so I'd only get this for the pudding, othewise, would not recommend. The service was good and there was alot more space than I would expect. The restraunt itself looks clean and newly renovated. This would be a nice place to rendevous for a group gathering, but not for a gourmet meal.

Stopped by after some business meetings. It was close to hotel and the menu had a nice selection for our group. We walked in without a reservation right before 6pm. Even though the place had a good crowd, we were seated immediately. The building spans the length of the block and there are two bars. Alice was our Server. She was attentive and nice. I wasn't sure which draft beer I wanted to order and she brought me a sample. It was fresh and cold, so I ordered a pint. I was pleased with my selection Churchill Brewing CO's "Lawn Mower Yard Lager." As an appetizer our group shared a plate of the poutine's- delicious! My main course was the fish & chips, with a side Nobel salad. Classic tasting fish & chips. We weren't able to eat dessert, because we were so full. Portions are generous. I would certainly order all my selections again. Only negative I experienced was the music being a bit loud. The music was tolerable at first, but depending on which song was playing, it was at times barely so, -aka - especially when Led Zeppelin "Black Dog" was cranking through the place. I like Led Zeppelin and that's a great song, but when I'm chilling and talking with colleagues, it's a bit much to keep shouting over the music. If I lived closer I would be frequenting this place often, and maybe just ask them to consider lowering the music a touch, because their good food and service is worth it.

Been here a few times and I really like the ambiance of this pub. I usually go here during the Liverpool games since this is an official fan pub. They do get pretty crowded on game days so I'd recommend coming at an early time to secure a spot at the bar or a table. I have not tried their food but heard some good things about their onion rings!

Nice pub with a pretty spacious interior and very convenient location, making it ideal for corporate team lunches during the week and get-togethers after work. It's also a popular place for theatre goers, as it's close to the entertainment district. It can get busy during lunch and dinner hours, so it's best to make a reservation ahead of time. Sometimes they host special events such as trivia nights. You can also book a portion of the restaurant for big team events. They serve some British pub dishes such as bangers and mash, Sunday roast, and various savoury pies. Other menu items include salads and handhelds such as burgers, sandwiches, and tacos. The Grilled Salmon is pretty good. I like that it's very well done with a crispy outer layer, and served without the skin. It comes with green beans (that are not oily) and mashed potatoes. Some of the entrées come with a selection of sides (regular French fries, sweet potato fries, onion rings, house salad, Caesar salad, soup, etc.).

We went to downtown for this restaurant. There were couple events happening in downtown and it was crazy busy everywhere last night. We had reservation at 7:45pm, but couldn't made it until 8:45pm, that's understandable that the table was gone. By the time we walked in, they had a big group just came in before us and warning us that the kitchen is crazy busy that might take a long time to have the food. We were ok with 30 mins wait, but we have to find our seats first. Outdoor seats were available, but the waitress didn't lead us to, they just let us go find our seats if seeing any available. We ordered the Shepherd's Pie, Castle Chicken Cluehouse and the Sunday Toast. After food ordered, we waited for 1 hr to have them. The food was kind of tasty. Shepherd's Pie was big enough for me. But we thought it was a starter size. But it was good. Castle Cluehouse was Turkey sandwich that maybe the chief forgot to put some sauce in?! It was a bit dry and we didn't find any dressing or dipping sauces that we could use. Sunday Roast was a few slides of thin beef, then a big fried donut. It was a bit confused, but we like to try something new. The food was overwhelmed. We have to take home with the sandwich. And add more juicy sauce next day. The outside and indoor tables were almost gone. But we didn't have them suggested to move into the dining room. And another thing I have to mention, this restaurant was not close to any green parking. But you could still find some parking space somewhere. I might only go by subway next time.

Steak and mushroom pie with noble house salad

Used to enjoy visiting Elephant and Castle in Ottawa years ago, so when we found it only a few blocks away from our hotel, we knew it should be a good option. We were lucky enough to get a window table between the bar and the back of the restaurant which provided some privacy. Our waiter was attentive and pleasant and the food quick. We never once felt rushed to leave, even when we sat and chatted after our meal. We started with the deep fried pickles, a nice treat with a panko breading, different from what I usually expect, but quite tasty. Our meals were the Sunday Roast and Steak and Mushroom Pie. The Sunday Roast was just like Grandma used to make, but even better. A generous portion of thinly sliced roast beef, delicious gravy and mashed potatoes, and a nice Yorkshire pudding. The steak and mushroom pie was exactly what you would want. Large pieces of mushroom and steak, lots of gravy and flaky pastry top. The side salad was also a tasty and pleasant surprise. We finished with a peach tarte tatin, with a scoop of what tasted like an in-house vanilla ice cream. A lovely treat to finish a very nice meal. Will definitely visit again!

So so food. Nothing really to complain about but nothing super good either. The wee pie sampler is a great idea. They are for sure we pies. I had the grilled chicken club and it was fine. The best part was the salad just their house salad. Tasty and interesting.

It is, in many respects, exactly what it intends to be: a loud, generous, unpretentious haven for those emerging from Bay Street offices or rallying before a Scotiabank Arena event. The beer programme is the undisputed centerpiece. The selection is vast and thoughtfully curated, spanning local GTA craft offerings alongside storied European imports such as Erdinger and La Trappe. Flights arrive on paddles with coasters identifying each pour -- a charming detail that rewards the curious drinker. One could spend an entire evening simply navigating the rotating taps, and many regulars do precisely that. The kitchen delivers pub fare that, while familiar in concept. Service is warm and attentive on its best evenings, with staff who clearly understand the rhythm of a busy house. However, during peak hours the pace can stretch thin, and a lapse in table attention can surface. The noise level is considerable -- an unavoidable consequence of the venue's scale and popularity. Those seeking quiet conversation will find it a challenge; those seeking energy and the communal hum of a city unwinding will feel entirely at home. For the corporate denizen of the Financial District, or the sports fan looking for a spirited pre-game gathering point, Beertown is a reliable and genuinely enjoyable destination. The beer alone is worth the visit.

I'm not sure if it was our server's break but a couple of other servers came to check on us but couldn't (wouldn't?) take our order until our actual server arrived a while later, which was maybe 20 minutes or so. Not deterred, as we were hungry and thirsty - we ordered the giant beer paddles for our table to share and also a few apps. The beer arrived warm quite a while later and also only had the breweries names on the coasters, not the actual name of the beer so we guessed on a few. The apps were not memorable and were only warmish - so was not blown away. Too bad as the location nearer to me in Oakville was much better in terms of food and service. Even though my office is steps away, I wouldn't rush back.

Ambiance - 4/5: similar to most sports bar, it's dim and loud with a lot of sports games on tv. They had a lot of reservations so the tables were split off for our small reservation. It felt a little tight. There seems to be 2 levels of seating. Service - 3.75/5: we got there early but they were nice enough to seat us early. The host sweetly pulled out my seat for me. It took us awhile to decide what to order but the server was patient with us. He checked in on us a few times. Maybe because the tables are tight, servers kept knocking into my chair seving other patrons and my seat is all the way into the table. Food - 3.5/5: I appreciate that the menu gives little historical moments that happened over the years. we ordered: Spinach dip - comes with chips and pita. Some of the chips were heavily seasoned. The pita is soft but doesnt really absorb much of the spinach dip. The dip itself is light in flavor. I prefer the chips over the pita Steak frites - we ordered medium rare and they got the cook right. The steak knife is very bendy. It should have been a AAA striploin but for some reason it felt tough and was hard to cut through. The charcoal grill marks made the exterior too burnt, giving it a bitterness to the steak. It came with an arugula salad and a very genorous portion of fries. Everything was seasoned well. The arugula salad and the chimmichuri on the steak had a tartness to it which added some brightness to the dish. I typically don't use ketchup but I needed it to help me with the fries. I could not finish the fries Sundae - there's probably only 1 scoop worth of vanilla ice cream. It comes in a cup with whipped cream and berries. Overall: 3.75/5 - If we come back, I might try other food items.
