Visited with my team on a weekday evening a couple of weeks ago. We walked into an almost empty restaurant and were told they needed to make sure they had room for us (we were a party of 8). Thankfully somehow they did and we sat down to order. I'm not sure if it was our server's break but a couple of other servers came to check on us but couldn't (wouldn't?) take our order until our actual server arrived a while later, which was maybe 20 minutes or so. Not deterred, as we were hungry and thirsty - we ordered the giant beer paddles for our table to share and also a few apps. The beer arrived warm quite a while later and also only had the breweries names on the coasters, not the actual name of the beer so we guessed on a few. Some miss steps and a rather loud night made this pub outing just alright. I went there for dinner in a Thursday night with some friends and most of the evening went well. The service was on point the entire night, from being seated, to being served, to being checked up on. However I wasn't too impressed with the food. While the salumi flatbread was tasty, well seasoned and delicious, the mains fell flat for me. The buttermilk fried chicken was good but a bit dry. The fries were nice and crispy. The double cheeseburger was filled with garlic, too much garlic that it overpowered the meat. The fries were good, crispy and delicious. What was distracting was the insane volume level in the pub. It was really loud, and I understand that it was busy but the music was blaring which caused everyone to yell over each other. Turn down the volume, lower the lights a little bit and listen to the noise level drop. Overall Beertown was good because of the service but I'm not sure if the food is worth coming back for. The pork chop with scalloped potatoes was tasty. The fish and chips was merely okay; the batter was gummy not crispy and fries were cold. Both entrees had huge servings of meat/fish and a scant quantity of coleslaw. Perhaps offering the option of a different balance between meat and vegetables would be a good move. Large sports bar but gets VERY crowded around 5 and on the weekends. Seating at the bar is first come first serve. I put my name down for the waiting list. The waitress said it would be a 30 min wait but it actually took an hour. Nothing they could do but it shows that people come and linger here. Absolutely LOVED this spot - came here on three separate occasions during my two nights in Toronto (including before and after a concert!). Honestly first stumbled upon this place accidentally and just because of the proximity to the Ritz, but ended up LOVING it. The bar space is absolutely massive with TONS of beers on tap, as the name would suggest. One thing that I thought was really cool about this spot was their rotational pours - on the drink list, it categorizes the 10 rotational drafts, which made it easy to fit one that fits your specific palate/preferences (plus it just had some really fucking cool options on there!). There was truly something for everyone between beers, ciders, cocktails, wine, and non alcoholic options - I had a few Oktoberfests, hazy IPAs, and wine during my time there and everything hit. Their flights were awesome as well with a ton of people ordering those. The food HIT - it was bar food, but was delicious and really well portioned for the price. What I appreciated too was that everything vegetarian was clearly labeled AND they had a separate plant-based/gluten free menu, so it was truly accommodating for a ton of dietary needs. We got the pretzels and dip which were massively portioned (like shareable AF, WAY too much for one person IMO), truffle fries (DELISH with an awesome aioli), tuna tacos (3 per order for $15 CAD - really, really fresh and tasty!). We also got late night nachos and the salumi flatbread which hit the SPOT - I put the nachos in the top 5 nachos of my life category, which is VERY high praise considering my undying love of nachos. As a note too, there were a ton of larger groups there and they do a massive app sampler for groups that they said was ~$125 CAD and it comes out on a HUGE board with such a variety of options - it looked like it fed the masses for a steal! The service was awesome as well - at one point they were slammed and we waited a bit and were apologized to nonstop because of that. Unnecessary, but appreciated! When our servers found out about the concert we were all going to, they also shared info about the opener and just gave advice about the venue which was appreciated - AND when we walked back in, we were greeted with so much friendliness and with questions about how the show went. Stopped into Beertown for a late dinner and it was pretty good. I'd been to one of the other locations before and it was good. It was rather late but the restaurant was relatively busy. Many tables were dirty/not bussed but we were sat immediately. Our server was nice and came over to introduce herself and drop off menus but walked away before we could order drinks. For food, we split the spinach dip as an appetizer and I had wanted the turkey burger but our server came back mid-way through the app to tell us it wasn't available, so I opted for the Pad Thai. The dip was really salty which was funny because there weren't salt shakers on the table and I have pointed it out to my friend earlier. Once we dig into the food, I understood why. This is in stark contrast to the tepid servic3 from The Loose Moose which we left after being seated almost in the kitchen way back and left alone for 20 minutes. Quite the opposite here, service was friendly and efficient. The Guac and Chips was a great appy option, fresh guac and chips. The beer had serveral options, a enjoy IPA and stout, so I tried the Cobblestone and later tried the Bone Pine IPA. Note that samples are not complementary. For health conscious we had a Salmon Immunity Salad which basically was raw cauliflower, hummous and a smaller piece of salmon which was very good my friend had a super salad which was alsi very good the pricing seems on the higher end as for theee beers two salads and an app was 94 pkus tip. My dairy-free friend was FLOORED with how many vegan options they had. She was blown away by the vegan chicken sandwich and the "cheese" that came with it. Fun night out with friends! Lots of drinking and delicious fried chicken. Our group of 4 went to Beertown on a Saturday night after going to the Food and Drink Fest. It was around 10pm and the place was almost at capacity. It had a fun vibe and all the beers on tap was definitely an eye catcher once you walk in. Since we were drinking for several hours before coming here, we settled in for the food. Since the place is called Beertown, expect a wide variety of beers on tap. There is a blackboard with all the dets and you can always ask the bartender for a sample. We ordered fish and chips, 2 orders of Southern Fried Chicken and the Beer'Ville Hot Chicken. The fish was super crispy and the chicken was *chef's kiss*. I don't have high expectations when eating out at bars and pubs, but man, this place was amazing! The portion size was substantial (3 pieces of thighs/chicken breast) and the fries were crunchy. I substituted my fries for parm fries and my sis got the yam fries. The coleslaw was nothing special, I didn't even eat all of it. For $22.99, you get your money's worth! Solid stop for both the food and beer. Service was friendly and helpful. My husband enjoyed the beer flight (I liked the strawberry) and it had great variety. The hot chicken sandwich was good and not too spicy.. If you like them with more heat you would want to kick it up. Bacon sandwich was good - even better with less sauce. Went to this establishment before a Blue Jays game last September, and it didn't disappoint. Seeing the Stormtrooper mural as I entered was a good start to set the mood for a Star Wars fan like me. My reservation for myself and a buddy netted a corner table. They had their Oktoberfest menu, where I sampled a Paulaner while I waited for said buddy. When he arrived, I ordered their Chicken Schnitzel Pretzel'wich. Said sandwich was delicious, as I had never had apple butter before, and as a condiment its sweetness balanced the saltiness of the schnitzel. Late in the afternoon last Sat., 3 others and myself met at Beertown for our first visit. I had made a reservation for us a few days earlier via their online reservation option which I found quite user-friendly and versatile. We were seated in a corner of the venue from which there was a good view of much of the rest of the establishment, which features quite fresh and modern decor - they had first opened less than a month earlier. I ordered 3 beers, none of which I'd had before; my choices exhibited a wide range on the flavours spectrum and I found all of them quite enjoyable. I decided not to have any food but the others in our group did and the dishes looked quite appealing. I also found the service quite prompt and attentive, as we were checked on by our server fairly frequently for the duration of our visit. Beertown is in a great location, dominating a street corner and just steps from the subway. Normally I like to walk around a new venue or one I haven't visited before but due to Covid I declined to do so this time. Their health and safety protocols appear pretty sound which is all the more reassuring considering the location is new. We had a great time and I look forward to a return visit as they are close to where I live; next time I'll likely have some food there, maybe one of their poutine offerings. read more

We have been there twice and were served by the worst bartender/server (Dessa). Took about 10 min to bring us water. Took our order and had to come back 3 times to double-check what we wanted. The food came out cold and wrong as we waited another 25 to 30 for the food. Her attitude seemed like we were annoying her. I had read about this place online and was looking forward to going here. The beer list here is very good, I like how they have paddles and you can basically build your own flight. The food was also very good, though we just had an appetizer because we were not very hungry. The server was nice and also patient. I've been to Beer Town 3 times now and I absolutely love this place. It's a really welcome addition to the University St area of downtown. The food - for pub food - is kind of spectacular. It's definitely above average pub food and in particular I have to give them credit for having some really solid plant-based/vegan options (which is very rare in beer-focused restaurants/sports bars/etc). Both myself (omnivore) and my vegan girlfriend have managed to eat really well here on several occasions. The selection of beer also is really great. I love that they have lots of excellent local GTA/Ontario craft beers on tap AND more old school European favorites (Erdinger, La Trappe, Fruli). The rotating selections are great. Lots of solid sours, stouts, IPA's and craft lagers. The option for flights of beer also is nice, I even like the little touches that they include coasters of each beer on the flight paddle. In terms of food I was a big fan of their soups, the Nashville hot chicken and their in-house plant based burger was delicious also. Service has always been good, they have very attentive staff. The whole environment is lively but not loud which I appreciate. I've got to commend then on one point we had one issue with our 2nd visit and we raised this with the general manager and the way they rectified the issue was extremely professional, respectful and helpful. They showed they cared and they took customer issues seriously. Many Toronto restaurants just don't have that level of service consideration and I found Beer Town does. Shout outs to GM Caitlin and our server Evan who are both excellent on our next visit. We live in the area and it's nice to have a spot with great beer, great food and great service.
