Stopped by and picked out a variety of pastries. There are many choices in the glass cases, and if you're a first time visitor, you will need some extra time to decide what suits you. We filled up a box with eight relatively small pastries. Items included were cupcake, brownie, shorties, galette, macaroon, and muffin-like lemon berry baby. The shorties are bite sized fancifully frosted shortbread cookie stacks in a variety of flavors. Each shortie is about the size of a .25 cent coin. They were tasty, but not exactly satisfying due to the tiny size. The coconut macaroon was flavorful as was the dark chocolate brownie. The sunny baby with berries was quite dense, and a bit light on flavor. The box of pastries cost about $21, and we paid between $1.50 (macaroon) to $4 (cupcake) per item. Heartier options- like the delicious looking pretzel and the gruyere croissant- would be my choices on a future visit. I think certain bread items are available on only certain days, so I'd visit on pretzel day. read more

This is my favorite bakery in Madison! Although it is slightly pricey, it is absolutely phenomenal. The Gruyère cheese croissants are to die for! The scali loaf and the challah bread (only sold on Fridays) are my top choice for bread. Don't forget the mini butter cakes (the lemon curd and white chocolate raspberry ones are my favorite)! read more

Got the blueberry frosting vanilla cake. The frosting was really really sweet - like I couldn't eat it. The vanilla cake was like a dry sponge-like. It looked cute though.... read more

Why am I sad? Because it's Tuesday and Batch is closed. Oh, the humanity!!! This bakery has so many delicious treats my wallet protests every time I walk down Willy street. The raspberry bars? Delectable! The monkey bread? Heavenly!! The mini pies? Too small to be that tasty! And everyone who works there is so nice! I've been gifted a free loaf or scone on occasion just because and it always makes me smile. Thanks f only they could always be open I'd be happy every day. I'd post pictures but I literally devoured everything too fast. Sorry folks! read more

Absolutely loved this bakery, probably one of the best in Madison area. Their croissants just hit the spot! read more

Batch is home to local savory and sweet treats that are perfectly delightful - highly recommend. You can find baked goods in all sizes - ranging from small shortbread cookie bites and mini-cupcakes to whole cakes and loaves of bread. The gruyere croissant is my go-to - I usually take this to go and heat it up for a couple of minutes in the stove so the cheese melts! Batch is also a great place to stop if you're charged with bringing a dessert to a party. I just tried a peanut butter mini cupcake for a dinner party tonight and the frosting was everything. Batch is a local favorite for a reason. I noticed a sign today that Batch is now serving Kin Kin coffee! So, after years of having subpar coffee, looks like Batch is getting on board to be a one-stop breakfast shop. And if you want a different coffee concoction to go with your bakery, Cafe Domestique right next door has amazing coffee, lattes, and tea options. You cannot go wrong on this block of Willy St. read more

Batch Bakehouse - Peanut Butter and Ganache Mini Chocolate Cupcake - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Madison, Wisconsin

Batch is our neighborhood bake shop. They offer delicious breads and baked goods. Their sweet treats are some of the best in town. My favorite, the dark chocolate korova cookie has a sprinkle of sea salt on top. I recently ordered a trio of cupcakes to try and was delighted by the korova cupcake, which had all the delicious flavor profiles of the cookie! I suggest you stop by and get a sampling box of treats to find your favorite! read more

As I was next door at waiting for my friend to meet me at the local coffee shop I couldn't help but see the buzz of people coming in and out. After grabbing a coffee and walk on a cold fall day I wanted a sweet treat. We popped in to grab something on my way back home to Milwaukee. Let me tell you, that Key Lime Pie was AMAZING! The perfect amount of tangy and sweet in one slice. I wished I could have bought a whole pie. If you're in Madison looking for a spot to satisfy your sweet tooth, this might be the spot for you! read more

Excellent bakery with unique offerings. Every year on his birthday my son wants just one "special food" - a pretzel from batch bake house that's "as big as his head". It's true - they are huge and delicious. Sadly, pretzels are only made on certain days, so he doesn't always get his wish, but everything else is amazing, so there's always a good substitute. I especially like the ham and Gruyère croissant. The employees are always nice and at times they are a little busy, but even on the busiest days and it still doesn't take all that long to get in and out. There is VERY limited seating (a couple of stools at a counter facing a wall), so this is not a place that you would necessarily meet up with a friend to sit down and chat over baked goods. Most orders are placed and carried out. read more

I love this bakery. The pastries are delicious and reasonably priced. I live in CA but have visited Madison 5-6 times as my son attended UW-Madison. This is a pick up and go place with no seating inside. All their croissant varieties are good and we had a fantastic chocolate scone on our last trip in May. read more

A well known bakery on Willy St that will usually have a line out the door on weekends. Walking in you're welcomed with that sweet bakery smell and a display of various sweet and savory items. They have sweet & savory scones and croissants, various cookies, mini pies, pie slices, brownies, and macaroons. Plus loaves of bread you can pre order. They also offer drip coffee. So far my favorites have been the mini frangipane croissants, scones, and brownies! I don't think you can go wrong with anything you get at Batch :) Tip: be sure to get there early for their fresh baked goods right out of the oven! read more

LOVE THIS PLACE! It's in the perfect spot for a nice stroll along willie and to pick up a pastry, and truly you can't go wrong with whatever you choose. The menu is the display so take your pick! I got a chocolate chip cookie (which was superb, giant pieces of chocolate and you could taste the butter with a melt in the mouth ending), chocolate pecan pie (really good, the crust could have been a bit more flakey, but it was the perfect mix with the amount of chocolate and pecans!), blueberry blackberry almond danish- pause. This needs it own paragraph. Seriously, I have dreams about that danish, it was light, fruity, had just the right amount of crunch. Last thing I got was the wedding cookie which also melted in your mouth. So what I'm saying is, anything you get, there is a high chance It will melt in your mouth and you will be very happy leaving the shop. read more

I like Batch cakes and pastries, but service lately has been poor. I pre-ordered a birthday cake, added a tip in advance, then showed up to pick up the cake and was told I needed to stand in the long pastry line to pick up my cake. Didn't make any sense, waited 15-20 minutes in line, just to have someone hand me my pre-paid cake. There are too many other good bakeries to order a cake from Batch again. read more

We went around closing time and got 2 sandwich cookie for the price of one . This was quiete frankly enough to win me over and be loyal. BUT when I put one in my mouth, it actually melted and a rainbow of flavors burst out- and all I could do with my mouth was to have the biggest smile. Will return again. The five stars are not enough. read more

Batch Bakehouse - The sandwich cookie with almond butter and chocolate crumb. Blisssssss! - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Madison, Wisconsin

Ok, I love this place. I've been in several times pre-covid and ordered pickup a few times mid-covid (not *personally* mid-covid, I wouldn't do that!) and I have to say, they are ON IT! They've been great with safety protocols and pick up options. And there are soooooo many amazing baked goods to chose from. I always go a little overboard and end up getting enough for like at least 8 people but...that's a good thing, right? My coworkers aren't mad about it. My top two go-tos are probably the salted brownie and the ham and gruyere croissant but literally everything is sublime. They also have great coffee! And the service has always been super friendly and helpful. Some of the best customer service I've ever received anywhere. Overall: 12/10 Seriously, go see what I'm spazzing out about. You'll love it. read more

Batch has become my favorite bakery in town. The croissant, jalapeno cheese biscuit and the rosemary foccacia are my favorite. I was sad when they closed for a bit but I am glad to see them open again. I've never had a bad pastry at Batch. The pastries are innovative, tasty and a fair value. The rosemary foccacia is dangerous. My wife and I can eat the whole thing in a day if we are not careful. If you are in Madison, you need to check this place out. read more

Batch Bakehouse is always a treat to go to. In fact, it's probably a good thing we live clear across town, as too many treats would be a problem. I think Batch is one of my favorite bakery in Madison. They got me with the Chocolate Croissants and I stayed for... well everything else. You can't go wrong, from their artisanal bread, pies, or pastries. The chocolate croissant will always have a place in my heart. The croissant is so flaky, buttery, and golden and the chocolate inside taste like very high quality chocolate. They do large orders for special events and cater weddings. So, past me is not a good person, obviously. I've changed my mind about Batch. Realistically, I probably ordered the wrong things, as in, wrong for my palate. My favorite is probably the honey almond tart, or something like that. There's also the tiny derby pie that I love. I would not be opposed if someone were to get me a cake from here for no specific occasion. I've had a slice of chocolate peanut butter (I think) and it was wonderful! read more

The best pastries in Madison, both in execution and in variety! They make wonderful breads, cakes and so much more. I have high standards for pie -- it is hands down my favorite dessert -- and the pie from Batch measured up! We had the apple cinnamon pie -- the perfect amount of cinnamon and the best crumb topping -- and blueberry, cherry and chocolate bourbon pecan hand pies. The crust was tender and flakey and the apple pie held up in a picture perfect slice. It is a bit pricey, but worth it! read more

Did I die? Is this what heaven is like? Batch is the bakehouse of my dreams. It's perfection from top to bottom. Batch's interior is incredibly inviting with its ample natural lighting and the soothing robin's egg blue on the walls. The display case is expertly arranged, and the staff was very understanding of my need to just take it all in before narrowing it down to a reasonable order of one item instead of one of everything. Eventually my eyes zeroed in on the dark chocolate honey almond tart and I knew that this item and I were meant to be together. The dark chocolate honey almond tart is literally one of the best baked goods I've ever tasted, and I make a point to taste many. The tart shell was firm and didn't crumble when cut into with a fork. The chocolate flavor was present without being overwhelming or bitter. The filling comprised crunchy sliced almonds bathed in golden honey that added just the right amount of sweetness without being a sticky mess. The tart was topped off with a lattice of chocolate sauce to get it an extra chocolatey note. This tart is something to take your time with and enjoy every bite. I can't wait to go back and try another of their amazing creations. read more

I have heard raving reviews about Batch. On my boss' wedding, his family literally catered the entire Batch Bakehouse collection for the guests, ranging from muffins to brownies to pound cakes to cookies and everything else you can imagine. So needless to say I had the opportunity to try out the shop in a week with all the leftovers he brought in for work. Super cool!!! And then after that I can't stop and found myself going back on a regular basis to get their pastries and cakes. I like their system of calling in to ask if they have your favorite item on your craving list. And they will happily reserve items for you until you stop in to get them later in the day. Because I love their lemon pound cakes to much I will call in before stopping by, especially since I live in the west and stopping by would mean making a pretty long drive way out east. But I have no qualms about it. As I find myself handsomely rewarded with my cravings. Batch staff are really polite and didn't pester us when we take forever to make up our minds what we wanted. Because to be honest I would want everything if I could. Which is why it always took me so long to decide whether I want to go for something new or to stick with my usual favs. They also bake fresh from scratch daily so everything is fresh out of the oven! *yum yum* read more

Best bread ever!. This is consistently light and delicious. Reminiscent of the simple Hiking lunches in my youth while trekking around Europe ...amazing bread and cheese! Pro gluten, pro Batch. If you go in with intentions to only purchase a baguette, remember that at least those intentions were good when you walk out carrying the baguette, a brownie, two Russian tea cakes and a dark chocolate honey pecan tart. Oh, that's just me? Cool. Went to their new location for the first time today, Mom by my side, and picked up a Monkey Bread Bun and Jordandal Farm's Ham & Gruyere Croissant. As we checked out, my Mom told the cashier that she looked like a "prettier Lindsay Lohan" (aka a "pre-meth Lindsay Lohan"). The cashier took it as a compliment, her freckles lit up and we went off into the bitter cold Madison springtime with our treasures. The croissant was buttery, cheesy and meaty, which basically makes it "God among men" of the croissant world. The Monkey Bread pulled apart and popped into my mouth without hesitation. If you're gonna go with a sweet treat, go with their salted caramel brownies. And die happy. read more

Wonderful local bakery! I've been coming here since they opened a decade ago, in a smaller location down the street. Through all those years, every experience I've had with the staff has been positive, and just about everything I've ordered has been yummy. The one thing I would not recommend is, unfortunately, the multigrain loaf. Not because it isn't delicious, but because the wheat grains baked into the loaf can be very hard. Batch bakehouse has so many wonderful pastry and other baked good options! I got the almond chocolate croissant, which was so delicious. The almond icing on the top makes it a much sweeter pastry, but I am generally never one to say "no" to more sugar, so it worked for me. And, the almond chocolate croissant was the same price as the regular chocolate one ($3.25). Overall, the croissant was a great mix of flaky on the outside and soft on the inside... yum!!
