I was super excited to finally be able to go here while they are open and early! I got the Herb Focaccia bread and was very disappointed :( I am sad to write a bad review but it was so bad. Both the bags that the bread was put in was covered in oil by the time I got home ( about an hour later). I thought maybe it was just baked and put out so I let it be and a few hours later, while deciding to make lunch, the bag was really covered in oil. The bread tastes like oil and salt. I am very discouraged by this as I know Bloom usually does really well with all they do! I am glad to have finally found my go-to cake and pastry shop here in Madison. We tried a few different options here - the bourbon butter cake slice, passion fruit coconut cake slice, and a lemon custard tart. They were all phenomenal! The bourbon butter cake was my favorite. A neighborhood bakery across the street from Trader Joes worth stopping in! As you walk in, the smell of fresh baked breads and pastries will bring a smile to your face! Very cute interior with baked goods displayed nicely. I don't believe there is seating available so for take-away only. A line can form, but it moves quickly. The staff were all friendly and approachable. This visit I ordered their carrot cake slice and sweet potato donut. Both were delicious. The carrot cake was moist and flavorful and the donut was dense which I liked. I'm a fan of cake donuts and this was more dense than that. The sweet potato donuts are $3 each which I thought was a little steep, but worth it to try at least once. They also offer sandwiches, but I didn't try this time. Ask the staff for their rewards "punch" card which they punch each time you make a purchase and can be redeemed for discounted products. Only downside is parking in that area can be tough as there is only limited street parking. I will definitely return to satisfy my sweet tooth! read more

We were in Madison for the weekend and promised to take our son to the zoo. We wanted to grab a quick bite somewhere close so we could avoid paying for overpriced concessions. I think I just found my new favorite sandwich -Focaccia prosciutto at Bloom! Did not expect them to have such great sandwiches but I was blown away! Focaccia was so light and perfectly salty. Pesto was mellow and I'm glad it wasn't too much. The other bakery items we got were amazing of course. The winter sugar cookie is really cute, not super sweet and the perfect ratio of cookie / frosting. We also picked up a bag of dog treats / biscuits. They make a great Christmas gift for pet friends! Sometimes it can get a little cramped by the entrance if there are people waiting in line and others waiting for food orders to be called. Bloom is one of my favorite bakeries! Everything in the case looks incredible, and it's hard not to walk out with a little bit of everything. I tried so many of their bake goods as I use to pick up tons of their items for my workplace. I also love their gluten free pastries and that they are always fresh and delicious, which can be hard to find with gluten free items. The shop itself is so cute and cozy, and the staff is incredibly kind and welcoming. Even when it's busy, the line moves quickly and the service is great. You can really tell they put a lot of care into everything they make. This is hands down one of my favorite bakeries in Madison. Bloom does no wrong!! I've enjoyed treats from here before for my bestie's wedding, so coming back on a recent trip was an absolute must. As a GF girlie, I don't often find spots that knock it out of the park, but Bloom absolutely does. There's a line pretty much any time of day, it's that good. But the team is speedy and the line moves fast, so don't be scared off by it! Also note that they are maximizing their space inside so their is no indoor seating provided. Enjoy on a park bench outside or as you're walking around the shops. There's not a single bad thing on the menu. They have breads, pastries, cakes, a deli menu, coffee menu, and sweet and savory treats alike. I was drooling over the looks of the Japanese milk breads and the "beautiful messes" - leftover cake and frosting in a to-go container. Yum! Pure perfection! My husband and I visited this shop on a Sunday morning to try the sweet potato donut! We ended up trying so many more items because everything looked like art work and smelled like buttery goodness! We got a chocolate croissant, brown butter chocolate chip cookie, sweet potato donut, and a special monkey bread that I cannot remember the name of! So delicious! Oh, and we were traveling back home with a loaf of sourdough bread and so the owner of the shop gave us instructions to keep its freshness along with a zip tie! We had the bread two days later, and it is one of the best if not the best sourdough I have ever eaten! The cherry on top was that when we opened our box they had given us an extra sweet potato donut and a cherry chocolate chip cookie at no charge! I wish Bloom shipped their bread to Minnesota! We popped into Bloom this Saturday around 1PM, and they were running low on their loaf offerings. But they had plenty of baked goods and desserts to go around. We ordered a pain au chocolat and an almond croissant filled with an almond spread. Both were flaky and phenomenal. We also bought a black pepper and Parmesan sourdough loaf and it was DIVINE. We made half of the loaf into a garlic bread, and the other half we ate with some butter as a breakfast bread. The inside of the bakery was already packed when we got there, and the line stretched to the door by the time we left. The bakery is bright and well decorated, reminding me of patisseries in Paris! The staff was super friendly, and asked customers in line if they had any questions prior to getting to the register. We can't wait to go attend and try other goodies! I preordered a cake here for someone's birthday. We did the chocolate ganache cream cheese cake mainly because it was chocolate (the recipients favorite) and that it was gluten free (to accommodate to others). While that would never be my first choice for a cake, it was delicious. Moist, decadent and you'd never know it was GF. Would order another cake here again. Pickup was a breeze. Also, the smaller cake size said it served 6-8. As for five of us, there was more than half the cake left! read more

I was wanting something sweet after brunch and I've had Bloom Bake Shop on my list for some time. We arrived early afternoon and there was a line to the door. While we waited, the owner came by with bread samples and chatted with us. My son liked watching them prep bakery goods for the next day. It was so hard to decide what to get, because everything looked so good. We went with the salted caramel brownie, sugar cookie, oat cherry chocolate chip cookie and the molasses ginger cookie. Everything we ordered was delicious but my favorite was the Oat Cherry Chocolate Chip cookies, not overly sweet and a nice balance of sweetness and tartness from the dried cherries. This is a small bakery, with a lot of excellent products. I loved the cruffin the most. It is a nice twist on muffin, with croissant texture. Almond croissant and sweet potato donut were excellent as well. Surprisingly they have Japanese milk bread which is really soft and tastes really good. The chai latte was a good drink to have on a winter day. Morning bun was ok. Chocolate ginger snap tart was good as well. I wish the ginger had a little bit more punch though. So good, I went to both of their locations! I highly recommend putting in a preorder especially if you plan on stopping by on a weekend because a line forms quickly. If you're getting a deli item or a drink, they won't start making the order until you send a text letting them know you're on your way. I appreciate this method so that you receive your food fresh! The homegrown biscuit sandwich was a little salty but interesting combination of ingredients! I like the shake up from the traditional bacon egg and cheese. I got my sandwich gluten free (amazing biscuit that didn't immediately crumble and break apart in my hand) and with an egg (best choice I made that day). The raspberry almond tart/pie was a little too sweet for me, but the gluten free orange cherry scone was so good, I got it twice. Orange forward, couldn't really taste the cherry. I love that they have a dedicated display case for gluten free options just to minimize cross contamination and so that people don't have to search through all the goodies to find the gf treats. read more

10/10; INCREDIBLE Bakery. I love their entire shop. It is so cute, smells amazing and the service is wonderful. The biggest issue here is trying to figure out and limit yourself on what to eat!!! I got the Pan au Chocolate, Ham and gruyere croissant, and the mess. All of it was incredible, but the Ham and Gruyere really took it for me. You could tell each thing was baked fresh by the crunch you got when biting into it, but the shot of flavor was really just so complex and delicious. I also got a latte which was solid and good with the pastries. I definitely want to come back to try each and every thing on their menu. Went in on a Saturday morning around 11:45, service was quick and friendly. I am vegan but not gluten free and am typically apprehensive of gluten free baked goods ( I luv gluten). But I was pleasantly surprised with Bloom's VGF baked goods. I tried the chai and chocolate donuts which were moist cake donuts and very tasty. I also liked their VGF savory biscuit. Would definitely recommend their VGF options (even for gluten lovers like myself) and I'm excited to return and try more! read more

I've never had a bad pastry from Bloom. The sweet potato donut lives rent free in my head, and their croissants are great as well. They get busy at peak times with a decent line so go during the week/at off times if you want to avoid it. Their cakes are pretty good too, but it's really about the pastries for me. Ok this place has THE BEST gluten free bakery. I've had the donuts and scones in the past-- so good and today I just tried their sourdough bread. It is concerningly good. Normally I hardly eat bread at all, but I want to eat this whole loaf... Like it's a problem. It's been over a decade since I've had bread this good (pre celiacs)-- The consistency is amazing.
