    Sweet and Sour

We were on our way to another restaurant and noticed a sign advertising their 50 cent wings on Wednesday night. Turned around and never looked back as my husband loves wings. We got 3 orders: Bee's Knees Bourbon, Raspberry and Sweet and Sour. The wings were meaty, a good size and the sauces were yummy. My personal favorite was the Bourbon. As an after though we decided we shouldn't choose 3 that were all glazey and sweet, but that was our mistake. Carrots, celery and blue cheese are extra, and you must buy a beverage in order to take advantage of the deal, which I think is somewhat standard in these sorts of deals. The service was good, the wings were good, and I can't speak to anything else as wings were all that we ordered. Would head back to get the wing deal on a future Wednesday, or a different night for one of their other food choices, I was particularly intrigued by the deep dish pizza on their menu. We have been looking for a good deep dish pizza, and would like to try theirs to see if it has something on Chicago.

With fast and friendly service I ordered a large cheese and pineapple pizza with the sweet sauce, it had the right amount of cheese and sauce, just so tasty.I also ordered the boneless wings which were cooked to perfection. For dessert I got the pizza frite which had cinnamon and sugar with a chocolate and caramel sauce for dipping.Lots of food choices here like wraps, salads, pasta like chicken parm, fettuccine alfredo, Lasagna and cheese Ravioli.

With speedy service and a smile I received my large sweet sauce pizza,it was so cheesey and tasty. I also ordered the double boneless wings, very tender. For dessert I got the pizza frite, which is a fried dough with sugar and cinnamon that came with a Carmel and chocolate sauce dip and was very enjoyable. They also have mac and cheese, calzones, Stromboli, salads, wraps and pasta such as fettucini Alfredo ,lasagna and cheese Ravioli.

Got calzones from Batavia's Original last night with my fiancé and they never disappoint! They have my favorite calzones that I've had anywhere. Always so delicious and you get so much for a good price.

Batavia's Original is not what I remember it when it was Pontillo's back in the day, but you can't complain when you're looking for Sunday lunch in Batavia. I opted for a soup and salad... And I've been meaning to get my hands on some French onion soup lately. It came in a larger than most crock (which was good considering the 4.99 price)... And it was actually REALLY tasty! It also came with a slice of garlic bread. I tried their February salad special as well... A pittsburgh salad which is reminiscent of a Primanti Brothers sandwich in salad form. Waffle fries, shaved steak, a bed of lettuce. My only complaint was that it wasn't hot enough. That dressing it came with (warmed poppyseed something or other) wasn't my favorite so I needed something else. Luckily they had Frank's and I was then satisfied with my meal. Presentation want great, but I don't expect five star plate art when I'm dining at the local pizzeria. Wait staff was pleasant. Wait time was relatively short. And my friend and I managed to find some place to eat since our first and second choices happened to be closed on this particular Super Bowl Sunday. All in all, who can complain?

First off I wanna say, the people I talked to and my delivery driver were the nicest, most polite people that I have dealt with in New York in a very, very long time. I love you guys. I ordered pizza for delivery, I was told 45 minutes and it arrived in about 30 minutes. Hats off to y'all. Another plus, the pizza and garlic knots I ordered were piping hot. Love it. I didn't take a picture before I started but this is the picture I took when I decided to quit eating. The crust was hard as a rock. The sauce left something to be desired. It almost seemed like it was painted on with a paintbrush. There was nothing to it, it was all dried up. The cheese was burnt and crispy. But the pepperonis were freakin greasy awesomeness. So there's that. The pepperonis on the pizza and the garlic knots were great. I'll try your pizza one more time but, guys you got to work on your sauce and maybe not leave it in the oven so long and if you have to extend your delivery time a little bit longer to take more care on the pizza, please do so.

Super thin... this is regular crust?

The food came out extremely slow. We waited for 45 minutes, for a table of 5. There were only a few people there at the time. She offered to box up the food since we spent so much time waiting we had to leave. The next problem was our food was very inconsistent. My sister had the junk plate and my son had the junk fries and they both loved their food. My sister said it was one of the better "garbage plate" type meals she's had. Me and my mom not as good. My mom said the soup was lacking any flavor and was not good at all. The main problem with our meals was we both had the egg and olive sandwich. Tasted good until at different times we both bit into egg shells. Happened more than once to the point I didn't want to eat anymore because I didn't know to expect an eggshell. Therefore both me and my mom could not finish our meals. I posted a pic so you can see it's a big piece of shell.

Service was a little off. She got my order wrong then disappeared. As a result I really couldn't do anything about it. Also, she gave me my coffee, cream, and sugar. But she didn't give me anything to stir it with (again disappearing). She was a young girl so I'll mark it off to inexperience. If I was in the area, I would go back.

Tossed is located on Market Street which can be busy during lunch & dinner. They offer Vegan and Vegetarian as well. We arrived just after noon so most of the tables were taken. We managed to snag a table though and ordered. My guy had the gluten free cheeseburger bowl which was delicious! Came with a bowl of Romaine, burger, red onion, cheese, and ripe tomatoes and a tangy sauce Looked so good I had to have a bite and it was Great! I had the Trio of Isles which included 2 homemade Spanakopita. I could tell immediately because of the pastry wasn't the usual store bought puff pastry. And, it was so flavorful with garlic, spices and Pine nuts. The hummus was good and the pita points were toasted and warm when served. The falafel was okay and one was filling with homemade Tzatziki sauce. I managed to eat both falafels. I would definitely come again and just get the Spanakopita-it was Amazing. They do a lot of Take Out. Some of their salads were huge (definitely two meals worth - lunch & dinner) and several patrons were taking what they couldn't finish home for dinner.

I usually get Cate's Buhda Bowl but recently branched out and got the tofu veggie wrap, chock full of goodness and protein. Both are really flavorful and nourishing, generous too. There is another thing that keeps me coming back. Tossed is clearly family-run, and I know that a father-daughter team seem to be mostly in charge. Once, they got my order wrong, and I waited longer than usual for the correction to appear. Not only did they credit my order but I think the person who made the error was in tears. I just love these people, they are so sweet!

When we walked in, another customer was raving about the food and telling us how much we'd enjoy it, which honestly made me feel a lot better about trying somewhere new in an unfamiliar area. The vibe is like a bar turned restaurant, dark and a little moody but not off-putting. My mom even got a cutesy leprechaun margarita, which made her smile. We started with 10 mild wings for the table, my sister got a Caesar salad and said the dressing tasted homemade, and this is where I tried French onion soup for the first time. It was okay, just really salty. My mom ended up finishing it, but I did like that the cheese layer wasn't too heavy. I'm still on the hunt for a French onion that really does it for me. I didn't get pictures of the mains, but my mom and I both got steak, I had mashed potatoes and she got a baked potato. My sister got the fettuccine alfredo and marveled at the flavor. She kept saying you can tell it's a local spot and not a chain just by the care put into it. My steak was good, nothing crazy but you really can't go wrong. The mashed potatoes were a little bland but still edible. My mom loved her meal and finished everything, while my sister and I both had leftovers. The only downside was the service. Our waitress wasn't very friendly, kind of impatient and a little passive aggressive, like we were bothering her just by being there. Given the lack of diversity in the area, it didn't completely surprise me, but it was still noticeable. We didn't let it ruin the night though. Overall we still enjoyed it and I'd go back if I'm ever in Batavia again. Reasonable prices, solid food. Taking everything into account, I'd give it a 6.9/10.

Oh how the mighty have fallen! I remember when this restaurant was opened by "Alex" and it was…read morefantastic. I knew Alex by mutual acquaintance and growing up in the same small town. He was a professional restaurateur who was paid to sit with celebrities at the posh places he worked in South Florida in the 70s. Whatever else is said, the man had high standards in food and dining experience. When he opened, and for years after the place was always packed and very popular. The food was high quality and your meal came with 2 sides, salad, hot bread and nice presentation at a reasonable price. Alex left the business several years ago and the current owner has run it for some time. Today was my first time back in several years. The outside looks dated and needs a refresh. I almost thought it was closed. It was 2:30pm on Saturday before Mother's Day and almost empty. I don't recall it ever not being full of people waiting at the bar for a table. Until today. The decor is ok although I don't care for the fringe lamps directly over your head. I was going to get ribs but decided on 10 oz prime rib ($32.00) comes with 1 side (I chose baked potato - only sour cream and butter is offered). No salad unless you pay extra! The warm bread was fine with two kinds of butter. My companion had the Kids spaghetti $(8.99). My prime rib came out and it looked about half the normal thickness it should be and in a puddle of juice. Even the server commented about why the kitchen did that. And it was warm, at best. No horseradish or other condiments were offered. No garnish on the plate. Just a thin slab of meat. The juice should have been in a separate cup. But the small baked potato was steaming hot! My companion had a giant pile of spaghetti with about a 1/4 cup of sauce on top! Too little for the mound of spaghetti. And it looked like cheap jar sauce and no meatballs. She didn't mind but I wasn't thrilled. And her fountain drink did not come with the meal ($3.99)! I had a lavender lemon drop martini that was ok. ($10). Ultimately the food is mediocre and it feels like they are cutting corners to keep prices down. But that means it's no longer the special place it used to be. Sad.
