I made reservations for 9 people on a Tuesday night... which they never wrote down in their books...so I was glad it was a slow night. Our server was very sweet and knowledgeable! If you have a large party- beware they can apparently only cook 2 pizzas at a time in their oven so we did have quite a few people in our party wait awhile for their pizza while others got their food. The food was good. I had the bucatini carbonara with shrimp, which was cooked to perfection. The meal was extremely rich in flavor, which was awesome but couldn't eat too much of it! The pizzas were all really good. They have a lot of crust on each pizza (the ingredients weren't really spread too far along the dough) One more thing I must add- there was no music! No nothing. Worst case of food Poisoning in my life - 4 days later (ate there Friday 5/16/25 - brought 6 friends) and still suffering from a bad Carbonara which I left more than half on table. I paid for it and left in a hurry to see a play across the street. Spent the time at the play in pain. That night and since that time I still have chills, headache, cold sweats, diarrhea, and nausea, along with severe abdominal pain. I am an emergency Nurse and know a thing or two about food poisoning. I even called the next day to report it but was told no one was available and would call me back. Still no call back as promised. This was my favorite place and have been coming there from Rochester just to eat the Carbonara which was my favorite dish. I KNEW It did not look, or taste right, and even asked if they had a new chef back there but was told it was not a new chef. Entire preparation was different this time, the sauce was separating, huge uncut chunks of prosciutto, too yellow, and almost looked grainy versus smooth. I thought the pizza here was pretty good! The service was okay and the patio was nice. The interior desperately needs a renovation it's very 80s in a bad way but everybody was very friendly and helpful. Was really excited to try this place out when a friend suggested we meet here for drinks (and dinner as we are amid the corona virus and NYS has a requirement for ordering food, not just drinks), however the service was probably the slowest I have ever experienced and that definitely dampened the experience. So let's start with the good. The place is really nice, the inside is redone, modern and chic. Nice bar area, shuffleboard table, string lights. They also have a large patio, and another area with lots of the sort of garage doors that can be opened to make it an extension patio. The food was also pretty good. We each ordered one of their specialty pizzas. They run a special on Tuesdays where if you order a pizza you get a free cheese and pepperoni pizza (1 per table) so the only food we ordered was the 3 pizzas. Now I did not look at the time when we ordered, however I do know we were both seated by 5:55 PM, and the beginning of our night the service was running as expected, so we must have ordered by 6:15 PM at the very latest, likely earlier. When our 3 pizzas finally came to our table I did check my phone and it was 7:44 PM! 1.5 hours for pizza! Now I try to be understanding and reasonable but that is an excessive time and my biggest frustration was that they weren't even proactive about it. Our waitress only came over 1 time during that time to fill our drinks and she did say sorry for the wait but a lot of pizzas were ordered and they have a small brick oven that only fits 2 pizzas in at a time, but our food would be out any minute. That was around 7 PM. This wasn't the first week of the promotion, so I don't know if it was just a bad night? Someone called off? They aren't able to handle the promotion? A pizza oven that only fits 2 doesn't seem like a good plan. In the future it would probably make customers less frustrated if they were upfront and if a manager or the waitress came over and explained what was going on, or at least said something about it. There were only 5 tables with people inside where we sat and many were speaking up to each other about the long wait. When I left and walked by the patio I heard the exact same complaints and frustrations. So I do feel bad if they were just having a tough night for some reason but being proactive could've helped the frustration. When the food finally did come out, there were no plates, napkins or silverware for us to even get started eating with. My friend had kids to get back home to so she asked for the check and boxes. The bill came and they hadn't done or said anything more to apologize for the long wait. I'm not one who likes to ask or to complain about things, and again I did get my food eventually and it was decently good. I had a good time with a friend and my pomegranate sangria was yummy so I hate to complain or be grumpy but after such a crazy long wait with no explanations I feel like I would have a hard time coming back here anytime soon. read more

TLDR if the place is more than half full be ready for a bad experience. We have been to Romans a dozen or so times in last couple of years. It seems in recent months the reliability of the experience has taken a downturn. One visit for take out (we called in and came when told to) had us waiting for literally an hour for our food. Not even an apology. Tonight we were seated, waited twenty minutes for waters and to speak with a server. Told her we were starving and wanted to order then she explained the kitchen is slammed anyhow so it will be a while. Derek it seems you can't staff the place properly for whatever reason. Everybody got a break during Covid. By now businesses that intend to prosper need to figure it out. Went here the other day. The ambience was very nice! They are doing a very good job having outdoor seating and with masks, etc., due to Covid. The margherita pizza was very tasty and came out relatively quickly. The basil flavor was strong, and the slices were delectably thin. We go to Roman's at least once a week. They have great food, friendly service & great atmosphere.

We made a reservation at 1pm for 7pm and got their on time and are table wasn't ready until 7:30

Applebee's loss was definitely our gain. A Saturday night without a reservation - told a wait of 30-40 minutes at Applebee's. We said pass. I had viewed some good words about Roman's and we drove by to investigate. The experience was well worth it. We decided to eat outside on the patio which was a perfect night for it. I ordered the gluten-free (cauliflour crust) Greek pizza, and my partner ordered a pasta dish with chicken carbonara. The pizza was SO good that it was gone and even my partner ENJOYED it. The pasta dish was unfortunately not as spicy as desired and needed a kick up. Also included was a salad - soup choice and opted for the house salad with parmesan - peppercorn sauce which was very tasty. Portion size is decent. However we both agreed that the wood burning oven and pizza wins should we pass through again in the future.. The server was pleasant and helpful, creating an overall wonderful experience. "The Maria Pizza " my wife and I ordered a white style pizza and changed a few ingredients. We literally order this pizza 3 times a week they actually put a icon on thier computer calling it the Maria pizza .... The staff and management treat us like Royalty. They even know our voice on the phone and say we will put your Maria pizza in oven shortly see you in 15 minutes. We got off the 90 and were looking for a place that wasn't fast food. Roman's was a total stumble and kinda chic...Nice pizzas and overall good food. They use boxed pasta and have a nice kids menu. BASIC BASIC American style Italian food. Multiple artichoke (canned) options. Salad was not very fresh. The service was a bit rocky and our food started to come before our drinks. They had 3 tables and there was at least 4 people working there. The waiter seemed annoyed at the questions I asked (do you make your own pasta, size of salads) as I have never been there before. They did apologize and said a server just walked off...which is a bigger picture problem in a business in my opinion. Seems like from other reviews the service is not a strong point. Anyways...nice place in Batavia, NY. The city looks great and I'm glad there are nice restaurants popping up instead of fast food chains. I'm sure it's hopping on a Friday/Saturday night. Highly recommend starting out with a cocktail but do yourself a favor and order the Utica Greens or Artichoke Fritters for an appetizer. We love the kick of the red pepper in the greens and the cheesy bread is heavenly. You can never go wrong ordering a pizza or two here. The flavors are unique, and the wood fired style is cooked perfectly crispy. They frequently have a BOGO special on the pizzas so you gotta order at least two. Stopped in to check this place out last week. We walked and we were seated right away. Our waitress came over within a few minutes and she was very friendly. We wanted pizza and pasta so we decided to order the Dill pickle pizza ...bonus...you get a free cheese and pepperoni pizza when you order any pizza! I decided to go with the ceaser and then the bolognase. The salad was very good, the dressing had great flavor and had the perfect amount of dressing. The pizzas came over soon after that and let me tell you, I've never tasted a pizza as delicious as this Dill pickle pizza!! It was so good we ate the whole pie! We ended up taking most of my bolognase home. The bolognase was good but I felt it needed a little more flavor. I have had dinner at Roman's several times and each time, my eyes were rolling back with pleasure. The food is soooo good. The chicken Francese is so tender and flavorful, and the rib eye? No words to describe how good it is. Soups are good, appetizers great, sides fantastic. For dessert, get the chocolate cake! You won't be sorry. This is the second time my group of peers has held our meeting at this restaurant. We were upstairs this time which in my opinion was great for our hostess (Char-?). She was phenomenal! Very attentive and patient with us and made sure that our needs were met. She even recommended the pizza of the month but we went with the Beef on Weck and Traditional Pizza. Both were delicious. We had two appetizers and then our soups and salad. You can guess what happened. We were so full that 90% of our entrees got packed up and we still ordered dessert, to go. Overall the experience was great! I think our next visit will be after Daylight savings begins in 2023. LOL. Driving 40 minutes from Rochester in the dark both ways. read more

Atmosphere was very nice , as was the service. The pizza was good, not great. The chicken Francese was the worst meal I've had in 20 years. For 18$ there was one piece of chicken breast (soft, tender), canned peas (the smallest amount, not even a 1/4 cup), and the side I chose was spaghetti. The amount of spaghetti was half a soup bowl worth. Which by the way was in a soup bowl in one corner of the dinner plate, therefore taking up a third of the plate. Pasta is very cheap, I've never been to s restaurant that was not generous with the pasta. The chicken was supposed to be egg batter dipped and fried. It looked pretty naked except for some browning and pepper seasoning. The lemon sherry sauce was very salty and the lemon was overpowering. I asked for extra sherry sauce, which was a 3$ up charge, but I couldn't find it. There was barely any sauce with the up charge. We asked management about taking the 3$ charge off because it was quite insulting to be charged for something that wasn't there. He said no. I just still can not believe the meal that was served in a restaurant with a very nice atmosphere. And the head chef who was acting manager, could not even come out to speak with us. Very poor customer service in-that regard. The only reason I gave 2 stars was for atmosphere and the server who both would get 4 stars on their own. WILL NEVER GO BACK. read more
