Tried calling for a carry out order and kept getting their voicemail indicating they were closed and hoped to be back open by Spring! Checked Yelp and saw some recent reviews so decided to drive there and hope for the best. They were open. They didn't seem too concerned when I told them about the voicemail message. The restaurant side is pretty nondescript, the brewery side has more atmosphere. There is some outdoor seating, including some cozy coverings. Ordered the pulled pork sandwich, boneless chicken wings sauced in Carolina mustard with a blue cheese dipping sauce, and a chocolate chip cookie. All were good, not great. The pulled pork was not quite pulled, with big chunks of meat. The crust on the boneless wings was nice but the Carolina mustard was barely noticeable. The cookie was decent size but just completely fell apart; I like mine firmer and more chewy. read more

We tried the Bastion Brewery today as dine in for the first time and we were pleased with spacing and staff focus on safety. Some customers not so much who queued up next to our table vs in the open floor space. The food - amazingly good! I had the blue cheese bacon burger + sautéed mushrooms and it was gluttony on full display. I tried their oatmeal stout and the fries were crispy and nearly perfect. The oatmeal stout was very good and as close to a Guinness as they could make it which is my beer of choice. My advice is definitely give it a try and get there before 6pm because it got busy fast. Four stars only because of customer awareness re: spacing even with floor markings, if staff interaction then five stars for certain. read more

We were coming home from the San Juan Islands and were having a hard time finding something to eat before our big drive. While searching online, we stumbled upon Bastion Brewing. The menu isn't heavily promoted and we didn't expect to see such a large menu from a brewery! The food was FANTASTIC. Wild salmon on their fish sandwich, in-house roasted BBQ pork for their pulled pork sandwich, and delicious fries and onion rings. They even make great salads! Super impressed, we will definitely be back - so worth stopping here when traveling to or from the ferry! read more

Driving along HWY 20, we notice the big brewery sign, and decided to go in. Ok, so the building looks a bit sketchy from the outside, but on the inside it is nice. After a flight of beer, and good conversation with the staff we found this to be a a place that we want to return to in the near future. The variety of 5 beers that we had in the flight were very tasty. Service was excellent and the staff were very friendly. I look forward to trying the food on my next visit. read more

After driving past this place over and over, we finally stopped to smell the roses. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside It's a cool space - I always like to see the mush tins and the big industrial pipes that are cooking my beer (I'm weird, okay?). There's a food counter in an adjacent room to the taproom, where you order and they'll bring it out to you, and the taproom itself is dark and cozy, despite being big. I don't typically order dark beers, but there was something about "honey porter on nitro" that struck my fancy, so I had that and the X6 IPA. The beers are good, they're cold, and they offer both 16 and 20 oz pours. They also have a few types of ciders and a few cocktail suggestions - black and tan, shandy, etc. The food looked pretty yummy, but we were there just to unwind and have a tasty beverage - not one of the flights, which looked super - so it will have to wait till next time. It did get a bit more crowded as we sat, so if you want a place where you can chat, think, play some board games, and relax a bit, go early. read more

Stopped in for a beer and appetizer. The place was super busy but it seems like all employees are onboard and all who we encountered are team players with everyone covering for each other and knowing exactly what to do - how refreshing! We had stellar service and sampled several beers plus the pretzel and sausage appetizer - all very delicious! An extra kudos to the gal who is the "expediter" and takes all the food from the kitchen and puts the items on trays and gets it ready for everyone - she really knows how to rock it! Dang.. I wished I had taken pictures but let me tell you the Bastion Burger is Killer easily split for a couple so you have room for the Amazing Brews!! I'm with a previous comment that their Basil Cider is the BOMB! My husband loves IPA I wished remembered the one he got but he said it was good. Went here tonight with a group of friends. They were incredibly busy but waiting for one of their signature brews was worth it. Amazing food. Amazing beer. I personally recommend their sky pig IPA! I stopped by this brewery for lunch after a round of golf. The lady at the counter was completely rude when we arrived at the counter. We ordered our food and still added a 20% tip. Then went and sat down. She brought our food out to us. basically just throwing it on our table. then turned around and stalked off. did not say thank you. have a nice lunch or anything. This place has become a regular on our biweekly trips from Seattle to the San Juan Islands. The team is so incredibly nice when taking phone orders and take such care in preparing the to go orders, assuring it is just right. Don't know how long Bastion has been here but we've been missing out. Don't be like us. They're dog friendly and have outdoor seating in warm times. I was impressed with the Irish Red. The ordering/seating system is a bit odd and there's nothing explaining what you should do when you first walk in. And out of the 6+ times I've been here, I've never even been offered anything for the ridiculously long wait I've endured.
