I recently had several alterations done at Bassy's Tailoring, and I can honestly say this was the most amazing tailoring experience I have ever had. Bassy hemmed several pairs of pants, took in the waist on others, and completely altered a vintage dress for me. The dress needed extra room, and she expertly removed the belt and expanded the side seams so seamlessly that you would never be able to tell any alterations were made. The craftsmanship and attention to detail are absolutely unbelievable. Bassy is truly a talented artist, and her work speaks for itself. I dropped a pair of pants to be hemmed on a tuesday needing them Friday night. I forgot to pick them up, in a panic I realized at 5:45 pm needing the pants In 45 minutes at 6:30. I called the number and the owner answered but she closed at 4 pm and had calls forwarded to her cell. Bassy does extremely detailed work. I brought her a bridesmaids dress to be altered, she perfected the hem and recommended bringing in the straps which really made the dress fit perfectly. She is on the pricier side (per my understand of alteration work, I have only seen one other person) but she is every penny worth it. read more

BASSY SAVED MY WEDDING!!!! Listen, I bought my dress and it fit PERFECTLY. Apparently, without noticing, I stress ate before my wedding and 10 days before my destination wedding to Las Vegas, I tried on my dress to find out that it definitely did not fit. I sent her a message online, on a Saturday night, frantic, providing my phone number and begging for help. She called me back that night because she didn't want me to worry, and had me in there on Monday Morning to start altering my dress. She squeezed me in for 3 fittings over 10 days and literally saved my wedding. I absolutely will never be able to thank her enough. We brought my daughter's wedding gown to Bassy's based on positive reviews. Unfortunately, our experience was not at all positive. Each return appointment, the alterations that we had decided on, were not completed or, had not been completed correctly. Each appointment cost us hundreds of dollars, for work that was not complete. Our total paid is $1380.00, and her gown is botched, the alterations are not complete, and we have been forced find another shop to finish her gown. Her wedding is a little over a month away. If we had been told that the alterations were going to cost $1380.00, and the work had been the high quality we were expecting, we would have been very happy! Instead, we are left to be hopeful her gown can be repaired and the basic alterations needed can be done in time for her wedding. read more

I waited last minute to buy shoes and try on my bridesmaids dress for my cousins wedding, and I mean a week before. I thought I could get away with the length with a bigger heal and I was wrong. All I can say is, "Yikes!" My regular seamstress was on vacation for 3 weeks, and I needed to get my girls' pointe shoes sewn, which includes a piece of elastic to keep shoes from falling off and the ribbons sewn inside. I paid over $40 PER PAIR OF SHOES!!!! And we provided the elastic bands and ribbons!!! $20 PER SHOE!!! Pointe shoes cost a little over $100! I honestly would've just done them myself or waited had I known I would be so ripped off! Absolutely ridiculous! I don't care how good of a job is done sewing 1 elastic band and 1 set of ribbons on pointe shoes, $40 is absolutely ridiculous! There is no way this could have taken that much time to do! Bassy is a lifesaver! She is always happy to help with any needs whether they are big, small or needed in a pinch. She helped me with a bridesmaid dress that was not at all flattering to my shape and made me feel so much better in it by adjusting the top to my needs and taking the sides in perfectly. She helped me two days before my bridal shower when the strap on my dress broke and she is going to help me with a bridesmaids dress coming in 5 days before my friends wedding during busy wedding season! Bassy is an amazing seamstress! She's the only one in the area that works with leather. I just picked up my suede riding chaps yesterday. She altered them and shortened them perfect! Had to have my dress for my son's wedding hemmed. When i tried it on for Bassy she suggested a minor alteration at the shoulders and pinned it up so i could see. What a difference! I don't agree with other reviews that compare the cost of alteration to the original cost of the garment; Bassy is doing top-notch, impeccable tailoring whether it's a wedding dress or a $50 dress. Bassy tailors all of my work clothes - dresses, suits, pants, etc. Not only does she do exactly what I ask, but she UNDERSTANDS how garments should be constructed and worn. Went in to have a bridesmaid dress hemmed and taken in. Should have asked about pricing up front but she took me right in and started marking up the dress for alterations. Had I known that it would cost $60 per layer to hem I would have walked away. Took four visits to the shop, it would've been three but she forgot to put one of the appointments on her calendar and I had to head back home. I also had a long wait before most of my appointments. Alterations cost almost $200 and in the end I was still stepping on the dress but did not have time for more fittings. At the wedding I also noticed that she left chalk marks on the black dress. I went to Bassy's Tailoring after reading great reviews on the Yellow pages app. My experience with Bassy was wonderful due to the reviews I read. I ordered my dress online for my youngest daughter's upcoming wedding. When I received the dress, I loved it but I couldn't zip it up all the way. It was tight around the chest area and needed to be let out. Because there was so much beading involved, I was concerned that it wouldn't be possible to alter it. Bassy assured me it could be fixed. It was going to be a huge job letting it out, taking off the beads and hand sewing the beads back on. I also needed it hemmed and the shoulders had to be taken up. When the dress was finished, I tried it on and fell in love with it. She did an amazing job. I also recommended her to my other daughter who needed her dress altered for her sister's wedding. Bassy is very talented and also a wonderful lady. I wouldn't hesitate to work with her again when needed. Thank you so very much. read more

I'm giving 2 stars because yes, she is an incredibly talented seamstress. Although my dress came out great, I was not happy with my experience with her and won't be returning... a friend of mine recommended her, saying that her prices are very reasonable, but that wasn't the case. I brought a dress in for my senior ball that needed to be done in 2 weeks. I understand it's a rush, but she said it was no problem whatsoever. I asked her to hem it to my ankles so it wouldn't drag on the floor, and when I went in for my first fitting, it was still dragging on the floor! She claimed I didn't request it to be that short but I SPECIFICALLY told her, "I'd like it ankle length, I do not want it dragging on the floor while I'm dancing" and she agreed to it. Also, had I known it would cost $50 PER LAYER to hem a dress before she started the work, I would've walked out. I could've received the same quality work done by my usual seamstress for $8 had she not been overbooked with prom dresses. I also asked her to sew on some sequin rope around the neckline and waist and I believe that cost $40, so at least THAT was reasonable considering it had to be hand-sewn... However, even though it was her mistake that she didn't hem my dress short enough, I had to argue with her about paying for HER mistake and "meet her halfway" with the price of hemming it again. I couldn't believe that. All the business she gets and she insisted on more money to fix HER mistake? In the end, I ended up paying around $160 to tailor an $80 dress. I was a broke college student and had to take it out of my savings and it was NOT worth it. She needs to make customers more aware of her prices BEFORE she makes marks on the dresses, and listen better or at least own up to her mistakes and not charge the customer for her mistakes. There is no reason her prices should be so high with the amount of business she gets. My local seamstress charged me $32 to hem 4 layers and take in my old prom dress... can't argue with those prices. read more

I love Bassy's Tailoring! She has done many alterations for myself and my daughter including a lace wedding dress that she reconfigured making strapless, taking in, adding a beautiful jeweled waistline accent, hemming and more!! She even took swimming tops, that I had purchased that I loved but was showing too much skin for me on the sides, and pulled up and in so that no more skin was showing! I have gotten so many compliments on these bathing suit tops that I never would have if it weren't for Bassy doing what she does best. I have been going to Bassy for years and I've always had the greatest experience! there's nothing she can't do! I went to Bassy's to tailor my wedding dress. She responded quickly to my request for an initial appointment and was always super quick with scheduling follow up appointments. Not only was she fast, her work was incredible. My dress came out perfect and her creative thinking with the bustle was great. Not only did she do my dress, we ended up taking my fiances suit, my mother-in-laws dress, and my father-in-laws suit as well. All jobs were completed beautifully. This woman does great work and I would definitely take a wedding dress here, but not a bridesmaids dress! The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because of the price. Taking in and hemming a bridesmaids dress cost $150. To me, this is a lot to spend on tailoring a dress I will never wear again, when I've already paid about the same price for the dress as it is. (the tailoring ended up costing more than I paid for the dress) Again she did a great job and the finished result was great, but if I had known the cost before hand I would have opted for a different tailor for this particular occasion. read more
