I loved working with the ladies at Carmen's Fashions!! They were wonderful and patient in helping me select my wedding dress. I must have tried on 15 dresses, and I ended up sleeping on it and coming back the next day, but they were so lovely. And then they were great doing all the alterations and prep work so that my dress was perfect and beautiful on my wedding day, not to mention holding the dress for a whole year due to COVID. It was sad to say goodbye that last time, knowing I wouldn't see them again (at least for a while). But I was so glad to have found this dress store and am thrilled with how everything turned out. I was in a wedding party and we all got out bridesmaids/ maid of honor dresses here! The customer service was awful Before the wedding even came. Then come the wedding day and the zipper on the MAID OF HONORS dress rips open! we had to force the zipper down and had to sew her into her dress for the night! MaryJo at Carmen's saved my wedding dress and what turned out being one of my happiest memories I arrived at Carmen's looking for a veil as I already had my wedding gown. Mary Jo not only helped me find a veil but a tiara and a petticoat coat. The petticoat coat took my wedding gown from a 5 to a 10! She was so friendly and knowledgeable. over the moon helpful. I asked if she would alter my gown because I did not want to go back to the salon where I purchased it. She said she would hem & take my dress in(the other salon ordered the wrong size, bustle and steam my dress for $200. She also helped me find my flower girl dresses! When I first walked into Carmens I was a little hesitant but my experience with them was great. I will say I did not like working with Mary Jo, but Madalena and her sister were amazing to work with! Madalena always made me feel comfortable and always listened to my concerns and her sister had me laughing at my final fitting the whole time! I would recommend this boutique to all brides looking for an easy & fabulous dress buying experience. I was married in November 2012 and bought my gown along with my bridesmaid dresses here and was so happy with the experience. The staff are amazing- especially the seamstress who did the most amazing job altering my dress. My gown was lace and I was worried how the detail on the bottom would look after removing quite a bit of length. You never would have known it had been touched- it was absolutely beautiful. I chose the 3rd dress I tried on, so I can't compare it to other salons/experiences, but I know atleast price wise that they are in line or even cheaper than some others and they have a large selection. Carmen's was my last bridal appointment for the day. I was already exhausted from trying on every ill-fitting dress at a local (high-end) competitor. At this point I wasn't sure if I was going to find my dress this day. I walked in and was greeted by the very lovely, MaryJo. Boy, does she know her stuff. We tried on a few dresses she picked from there fabulous selection. One, however, caught my eye on the mannequin. I didn't know how it would look and I just said screw it, I need to try it on! It looked amazing, I was so happy. I knew then and there needed this dress! My mother (who made the trek from NYC) and mother-in-law both agreed... So, I said YES to the dress! (And we popped a bottle!) I had to be the happiest bride to be on earth during the whole process. My dress was on the higher end of my budget. They allow you to make payments as you go, which is really great. Please keep in mind you will need a deposit. Alternations were included. The rest of the staff genuinely care about you. G-e-n-u-i-n-e-l-y. I truly felt this way every time I walked in and saw all their lovely, happy faces. I am not from this area originally, I moved here to be with my husband. Because of this, I didn't have the luxury of having my mother, sister, or friends with me during my fittings. Thankfully, I did have these women and my mother-in-law. It still felt very special, which made the whole experience even more special for me. They truly take the time to make sure you're happy. They get to know you over a year while you're preparing for the happiest day of your life. The seamstress is incredibly talented! Did everything in her power to make sure I was locked and loaded. I am top-heavy and the girls were all set! (Author's note: if you need a strapless/ backless sticky bra please check Lane Bryant if you're over a D cup. I found the perfect adhesive bra with the best support, and tucked those suckers in.) I firmly believe they should be your first stop during your search. They make you feel at home! I could cry tears of joy writing this! As a military member on the edge of my deployment departure date the clock was ticking. I searched in Virginia (where I'm stationed) and then I came up home to MA for leave. This past week I went to many shops in the area. I tried on at least 50 dresses. So many styles and nothing worked. I was about to throw in the towel until I found a gown online by Allure. I called 14 different stores and no one had it. I called Carmen's and talked to Madalena. She informed me they had a dress like it and that I could try it on to get a feel. I saw the great reviews and I said okay! I went in and she had me try on a few different gowns. Their customer service was amazing I felt so welcome and comfortable. I wanted to order the allure gown I tried on, but I just kept thinking back to the original one I wanted and called about. I ended up putting the money down and she said she'd give me a day to decide. I called her the next morning and stayed with the original dress even though I couldn't see it in person. A belt comes with the dress but an allure home office rep misinformed Madalena that it was separate and an additional 200$!!! I expressed my concern saying I'm pretty sure it comes with it (based off of other vendors and brides testimonials) and told her to hold off ordering the gown until we resolved this. First thing Monday morning I get a call from Madalena and then another from the Allure regional manager apologizing and telling me I was correct. Turns out the home office rep was wrong!! Madalena made it her priority to call everyone she could to get me the correct answer. She apologized up and down. These people will not mislead you or rip you off. I never for a second thought they were trying to overcharge me. Madalena and her team are very professional and went above and beyond to make this situation right. After visiting six high-end bridal boutiques all over New England without any success, we decided on a whim to run into a no-appointment-needed shop close to home. Carmen's was able to squeeze me in as a walk-in and I'm so thankful they did! Mary Jo was so warm, welcoming and figured out exactly what I wanted - she pulled a dress off the rack (that I never would have thought to choose), I put it on and it was, without a doubt, the one! I just went through the process of purchasing and altering a bridesmaid's dress for my sister's wedding at Carmen's. It was a great experience, and I will definitely return to Carmen's the next time I need a dress for an event. They have a large selection of gowns to choose from and have very helpful employees to walk you through the process. All alterations are included in the price of the dress, and they truly tailor the dress to fit you exactly. The seamstress is a funny little Portuguese lady who doesn't take any "bridezilla" attitude, and can make anyone look like a princess. They spent hours with my Mother and myself patiently trying on dresses. Their insider knowledge of the industry was so appreciated. On top of EVERYTHING - Carmen's offers FREE alterations. FREE. The price of alterations is not reflected in the price of the gown... It was a fun experience. my daughter found a beautiful dress @ this shop but unfortunately the wedding has been cancelled... it is a very difficult time for my daughter & Mary Jo is not an empathetic human being at all she is all about her commission & understandably businesses have policies but she refuses to refund our credit card deposit & it was not mentioned @ the time of the purchase but we were told it is on the receipt in very tiny print & someone with a heart would definitely overlook a store policy but because she is afraid of losing her commission she is standing by her store policy....The owners do not have a heart @ all! After shopping at many other bridal salons, I went back to Carmen Fashions and found THE DRESS! I loved the women working there and they really bent over backwards to make me happy. The dress I loved was only available in ivory for the sample but they ordered me a really great swatch in white (satin with the lace overlay) so I could really see how it would look. The dress came in just when they said it would and looked amazing. The alterations were included in the cost of the dress, which was a huge selling point for me and the seamstress Adelia is a hero and my dress fits perfectly now! read more

This is my first review. But thought the consumer should be aware. Whatever you do... do Not order the same size dress as the sample. You may be thinking your buying new... but actually buy a used... old dress for full price. I found them completely dishonest and utterly blatant. The proof was in the dress that supposedly was new. It was dirty, and had signs of wear outside and more noticeable.... inside. There were some words exchanged... nice words in hope to clear this up, but I was being treated as if I were seeing things. I asked for proof that this was a new dress... but they couldn't give me the least little thing... something to prove this was in fact new. Long story short, they ruined this beautiful experience for me, and wished I had never stepped foot in that store. I couldn't bring myself to do business with these people,and went else where. And to think they are keeping my deposit with no remorse. Brides beware! read more

Carmen's Fashions was amazing! From the moment I walked in, they helped me feel at ease and I never felt pressured to buy the first dress I tried on, unlike a few other places I had been to before. I was looking for a specific dress and although they didn't have exactly what I was looking for, they were able to find something from the same designer in a similar style that I fell in love with. I found my perfect dress there. My bridesmaids dresses and 2 Maid of honor dresses were spectacular. They accommodated my out of town bridesmaids which made the process much easier not only me, but for my bridesmaids as well. Also, they were super accommodating with my mom after we had a huge issue with another store that didn't order my moms dress and only told me 2 weeks before my wedding. They found a dress that my mom fell in love with and they did everything to make sure that the dress was perfect. Honestly, save yourself time and energy and consider getting everyone's dresses here. I'm giving them three stars because Monica and Mary-Jo were wonderful. Monica helped me find my dress (which was perfect) and Mary-Jo was very accomodating. Now for the horror show that was alterations. The seamstress was the rudest, most unpleasant woman. While alterations are included in the price, she made me want to spend the extra money to go elsewhere. First, there was the issue of the length of the dresses. I had one girl that was 5'10 and another that was 5' and they wanted to cut them so it would be the same length for everyone, which was going to leave my shorter girls with (short dresses) dresses down to their shins, instead of their knees. Then, they refused to take the straps off another girl's dress, despite the fact that I had explained that I wanted all their dresses to be different. Also, they took it upon themselves to take the applique off another dress without consenting my bridesmaid or me. They denied that my MOH paid for her dress as they could not find her receipt and finally found proof that she paid for it as they documented it on the back of a business card! As for my dress, I asked for the train to be cut (which was explained to me, couldn't be done due to ruining pleats, but could be shortened), fine with me except a bustle wasn't created and my dress completely came undone day of my wedding. To make matters worse, when I took it back the seamstress accused me of ripping it for compensation and bad-mouthed me to the sales lady in Portuguese. Luckily, my friend who speaks fluent Portuguese was with me to relay all the info, much to her surprise. Of course she denied saying anything when I spoke up and they kept insuinating that I either stepped on it or someone else did. Given the frustration and hassle they put us all through, I would not recommend their services to anyone or at least the alterations process. read more

My daughter found the dress she wanted for her Senior Prom.. It was the floor model and beads were falling off, it was haggered looking. We asked if she could order one and she said yes. When we went to pick it up we knew it was the floor model still. They tried to remove the tag and I told them I wanted it. It was yellow because it was old. The owner told my daughter she needed to fix beads from people trying it on. But it was supposed to be a special order so why would people be trying it on??? When we asked her what was going on she yelled at us and my 18 yr old daughter who was paying for the dress with her own money. The dress has a hole in the front where there should be beads and the beads to the side are hanging off. We are stuck with the dress she paid over $300 for herself. I will NEVER go there again and I will tell everyone I know on all social media to not go to this place. The owner is crooked and her only goal is to make money even if it is from a young person. Shame on her!! read more
