First thing about vintage: it's not a vintage store. Vintage sells new clothes and jewelery/accessories, some of which are vintage influenced. Second thing about vintage: It's fabulous. Vintage has a great, eclectic selection of clothes and accessories that have a pretty, feminine aesthetic. The jewelery selection is strong. They have a wide range of styles and it's easy to find unique pieces. The reason I docked a star is that its greatest strength is also its greatest weakness. The prices and styles can vary a lot from piece to piece and season to season. You might see very reasonably priced dresses hanging next to blouses that cost three times as much, and there are youthful styles mixed with really matronly pieces. This isn't objectively a bad thing, but it does mean that you can't always know what to expect (besides gorgeous jewelery). It's worth noting that when they have a sale, they _really_ have a sale. At the end of the season, there will sometimes be a discount on nearly every article of clothing in the store. read more

This shop is quite cute, but I'm really writing about the jewelry and the girls who work here. They are honest, sweet, and very helpful. After visiting Eva B next door and dealing with the bitchy attitude of the woman who worked there, these girls were a refreshing change. I love that they have the Pilgrim jewelry line as well, one of my favorites! They have a huge selection of jewelry and a great range of costume to moderately expensive choices. It took weeks and weeks of walking by this store front for me to finally walk in. A beautiful spring/summer dress was calling my name, and at $48 how could I refuse? The feel of this boutique is classy meets artistic. I poked about everything else in this little shop: dresses, hats, jewelry, bags... I want about 70% of the merchandise in this store. The lady working behind the counter was nice and helpful- she even snagged my size off of the display mannequin seeing there were only larger sizes on the rack. If you're a gal looking for new clothes or accessories, definitely drop into this place. read more

I got holiday gifts for my mom, sister, and best friend here...and then I came back after Christmas for the sale and got myself a gorgeous piece too! This is such a cute store. It's close enough to where I live that I wander in all the time just to look around. 30 trips and only a few of them included purchases, so they clearly don't mind you browsing or bother you in any way. In fact, they are quite friendly and helpful. The jewelry is beautiful, and they have wonderful gift items, like handbags or pocketbook mirrors. The prices are kind of high but as another reviewer mentioned, they do have sales pretty often. I like coming here to check out the affordable items they have, and currently with a 30% off clearance going on, some of the items really are a great deal. Unfortunately, I didn't find anything to purchase yesterday, or maybe that's fortunately, but the lady working there wasn't pushy for a small store and let me browse in peace. This place is an awesome find--they have both elegant vintage and funky new jewelry and accessories. The vintage jewelry can be a bit pricey, but they have sales often enough that it's managable. In addition to the jewelry they stock fun little gift items like those themed soaps and chapsticks from BlueQ (http://www.blueq.com/). They also have clothing, though it seems to be designed more for the older Brookline clientel. The staff is always extremely nice and they're very knowledgable. They have never been pushy, and they've always taken the time to explain the background of any of their vintage items. It's in Coolidge Corner kinda tucked in between an art gallery and a pet accessory store, and it's easy to walk right past it. Take the time to find it--it's totally worth it. read more

Shopping for inexpensive cool jewelry, funky bracelets and killer earrings? Definitely do come in! Shopping for clothes -- they do have them, but the pieces are very reminiscent of Eileen Fisher or DKNY -- kind of for older women, sort of vintage, but just expensive, kooky, but not too cool things (dresses and tops mainly). I got a couple of knit winter hats there -- really nice! Cool chunky watches. read more

I adore this place for having a variety of really cool accessories and gorgeous clothing. I don't love that the clothing often comes with a boutique price tag, but that's the nature of the store. And I'm the kind of girl who buys cheap basics in the clothing department and then wears loads of ridiculous costume jewelry on top of it. I've bought a really cool snake cuff bracelet here for a decent price, considering the size and quality of the piece. I also bought a cheap strand of beads here that I wear a lot. I'm complimented on both pieces every time I wear them. The service is excellent. Every time I've gone into the store, even when I leave without buying anything, the folks running the place are very friendly and helpful. At one point, I discussed possible outfits with which to wear my shiny new snake cuff with the shopkeeper and she gave me some great ideas. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Coolidge Corner, searching for something other than Gap. read more

I fell in love with this place when I accidentally stumbled upon it. It's a little hard to find since it's 1/2 underground, but it's worth the look. They have a great selection of vintage, funky, and modern jewelry with an emphasis on local designers. They also have a shop in Edgartown. I got a beautiful lucite, diamond and crystal necklace here that was priced very reasonably. read more

This store in Coolidge Corner carries some very interesting clothes and jewelry. However, I have not had much luck with their merchandise. In June, I bought a very cute dress I was hoping to wear to a wedding in August. The day before the wedding, I went to try the dress on with shoes and the zipper pull literally fell off, making the dress unwearable. I am bummed that I spend $$$ on something that I never got to wear. I took this back to the store, and the very curt saleswoman informed me that they only do exchanges for store credit 1. ) with the receipt and 2.) within 30 days. There is a sign posted that says "exchanges or store credit only" but no where is it posted about 30 days. Terrible service but the lines they carry are of poor quality and they obviously do not stand behind them. read more

Even though I have eschewed buying new clothes this year, I love this store. The eclectic mix of antiques, fun dresses, interesting accessories makes it feel like a treasure trove. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, offering just the right amount of help. I had a fun mother-daughter shopping experience here and they frequently have fabulous sales. Regardless, I always stop here to see if a similar item has appeared. I have bought several shirts here. OMG!!!! I can't tell you how excited I am that this store opened in Mansfield. Love all of the clothes and jewelry, all such different unique stuff. There's a little of everything, bohemian, chic, casual, trendy and the jewelry is gorgeous. The staff was super friendly and sooooo helpful. I went in around Christmas time to get gifts for my coworkers and the women working there helped me pick out the cutest stuff and of course walked out of there with several tops for myself. Careful shopping in this store if you buy a product with poor workmanship. I purchased a high-end pocketbook ($108) and within 60 days the bag began to fall apart. I understand the policy is 30 days so I spoke with the owner describing the situation to discuss options for repair or replace. In fact, I bought 2 handbags when I only planned to buy one! I was told by the owner that any repair/replace had to be at my total time and expense because that is how things are handled in this business. End of story. I am sensitive that this is a small business and has to protect its interests. But when this is conducted at the expense of customer service, I am no longer confident in making future purchase here. read more

BE VERY CAREFUL SO YOU DON'T REPEAT MY EXPERIENCE! When returning to my car from the gym I saw a nice jump suit in the window and went inside. I also saw a sparkly sweater that I liked. Since I was "sweaty", I chose to respect the situation and not try on these items at that time - instead to try them on at home on after I showered. Nobody suggested that the items be held until the next next day due to their restrictive return policy; if a store employee gave me that option, I would have taken it. As it turned out, the jump suit did not fit, and the inside of the sweater was scratchy from the sequins. When I went to return these items, the manager didn't care that I was simply being mindful by not soiling their clothes. My advice is to try on clothes in the store no matter what your body situation is. If you need to return anything, you can get only store credit, not a charge card refund, a very customer-unfriendly policy these days. If I decide to use my store credit, I will feel free to come directly from the gym, have had a recent manicure with wet nails, and have wet hair spray, since Leaf Boutique doesn't seem to care about the cleanliness of their clothing! read more
