I don't usually leave reviews however Angie's was given to me on a recommendations list of seamstresses for wedding gowns from a bridal shop, so I felt highly confident going in as all of the recommendations on the list were highly recommended by other brides. Upon arrival it seemed very hectic in there and unorganized, but I'm not a seamstress nor have I ever worked in that environment so I just dismissed it. I had dropped my dress off on September 21. I needed the straps adjusted, a hem, and I needed it taken in to eliminate the gap between my back and the dress. The seamstress told me there was no need to take it in, once everything else is done there will be no gap. I thought it was odd, but again I'm not a seamstress so I didn't think anything of it. She told me to return on October 17th to pick up the dress since my wedding would be just about 2 weeks away at the point. I arrived on the 17th eager to pick up my dress which slowly turned into what would be a ball of anxiety.. 5 minutes go by they couldn't find it, 10 minutes go by, still no dress. Finally they find it and it wasn't ready. They said it was because they had a question about the bustle which we had already confirmed all of this information in September when we dropped it off. We leave and she tells us to return the following Monday (Oct 21) to pick it up. We go to pick it up, I try on the dress and instantly begin to panic. The huge gab between my back and dress is still there and to top it off there is a stain on the train. We mention it to her while we're at the shop and she tells us not to worry about it you can barely see it.... you can 100% see the stain. We leave and send her a message once again addressing the stain, she was incredibly rude and insisted we put up a fight with the dress company for sending us a dirty dress. We sent her before pictures of what the dress looked like before we brought it to her and then how we left with it. Again, incredibly rude and insisted it wasn't her. She told us she's not scared of a review that we leave so I assume she won't mind this one. Brides, do NOT bring your dress here!!!!!! I gave two stars because the women who runs Angles is very talented. She is able to make a dress or let out material or take it in perfectly. Once in a while she is on time. Most of the time you will go to get a garment and it is not ready the day she promised. I have have both good and bad experiences. The last bad experience was the worst. I came back several times with promises my clothing would be done. They were not. My take is that if she is overly busy she needs to send you away rather than promise what she is unable to do. read more

Maria SAVED my wedding dress!! It was several sizes too big, which posed many complications in alterations, including cost. I tried on my dress and she took a long hard look and assured me she could fix it and was up for the challenge. The dress was so big, she basically had to unsew most of it and piece it back together, both by hand and machine sewing but the end result was flawless. She is the most talented seamstress in the area by far, and for a very reasonable price. She will tell you she works best under pressure, and that's true. She will likely procrastinate a bit but will always have the job done on time. I suggest calling her in advance of try-on appointments to make sure that she is on schedule to save some frustration. She runs the business herself and has basically the whole town of Mansfield plus surrounding towns to attend to so bear with her. I bring anything I need mended or altered there, and will continue to do so as long as we live close by. 10/10 recommend! read more

Now Angie is very sweet but there is no respect for people's time. She takes on too much work and then cannot complete everyone's projects on time. I picked up a wedding dress two days late and she told me to come back in 24 hours cuz it wasn't done. When I came back in 24 hours it still wasn't done. It's also fairly expensive. I was very aggravated. I took my dress to another place in town and they said she did a poor job (not parallel cuts, uneven lines). Don't go here. She also charged me an arm and leg for a bad job. Maria did such an amazing and quick job on my wedding dress! I was only in town for a few days (I live in Georgia and the wedding is in Massachusetts) and she was able to take me in as a walk in and asked me plenty of questions about how I wanted my dress to fit. She did such a great job on altering my dress which has intricate lace and even had it finished a day before she said it would be done. I look forward to coming back to her in October for my final adjustments and alterations to my wedding dress so it looks perfect for my big day. Disappointing. I took a pair of jeans to Angie's to be hemmed. I had on the exact flats I planned to wear with the jeans, and she marked the pants accordingly. I thought it seemed a touch high (I like my hems JUST above grazing the ground), so she adjusted it. Then I specifically asked if she was taking shrinkage into account--the jeans were brand new & still had the tags. She indicated that it's not a big deal, that it would shrink 1/2" at most. (sorry, but I think 1/2" too short is sufficient to make your pants look silly) So she said she'd make them a little longer. Except when I got them back, they were barely long enough anyways. Just washed them for the first time, and they are WAY too short. They reach to the TOPS of my flats. Also, she didn't use thread to match the original (you know, that yellowy brown thread on jeans?)...she used navy. Not a huge deal, but I expect better from a professional. Other notes: Price was OK--$9 after 10% off promotion. Unlike the other reviewer, I found Angie to be pleasant. Unfortunately, I'll have to continue my search for a good tailor. I really wanted to support Main Street--but I now have professionally hemmed jeans that I can't wear, and I'm out 9 bucks. read more

Pretty disappointed in my service. Brought a bridesmaid dress in and paid more than $120 with three requests (hem, strap adjustment, and keep extra material). Hem was done nicely, but when I received my dress the straps were still safety pinned, and the extra material the bride requested was discarded. Went into the shop to discuss and was told she did in fact adjust the straps and I was lying. After showing her pictures of the service she did not complete and mentioned the missing material I requested a refund. $20 was quite literally slammed on the counter as a refund after being yelled at for "coming into the shop and not bringing the dress in with me so she could fix it." Recommend going elsewhere for service. read more

Do not go to this shop, she doesn't do the work that is asked of her. When asked politely to refund for services not provided she was rude and did not refund a sufficient amount when 1/3 of the work asked of her was all that was done. Had a bridesmaid dress that I needed altered. I went in last Tuesday as a walk in and was taken right away, went in for a second fitting this Tuesday and picked my dress up today. I expected it to take a month and it was ready to go in a week and two days! I liked that she cared she wanted to take the straps up before hemming the length because she wanted it to be even instead of doing it all at once. I ran into a mansfield firefighter when I was walking in and he's been bringing his dry cleaning and uniforms there for years. As many of you know their uniforms have to be perfect and he highly recommended them as we were walking in. So that put me at ease a little. Total: For the straps taken up, slip underneath taken out and length up was $120 I went somewhere in taunton and they wanted to charge me $180. The place in NJ where the dress was ordered from wanted $150 to do it. Parking: Had no problem getting a spot out front at least 3-4 open spots the 3 times I went there. Money: They do take credit cards now I saw somewhere she only took cash but I paid by CC and emailed the receipt to my email. All in all great experience. Super friendly. I am also very outgoing and have no problem starting a conversation with a stranger. We started talking about the patriots, of course, and how Angie applied to sing the national anthem haha. BE honest if something doesn't feel right a strap could be tighter speak up I never say yes it's fine when it comes to dress alterations. Hope this helps someone else! read more

At the end of August I took my bridesmaid's dress here to be hemmed for my sister's wedding on September 9th. The woman (I never caught her name, I'm assuming she was Angie?) had it done for me on September 1, plenty of time to allow for any fixes that may need to be made. Fortunately, she did a wonderful job and it was perfect! She took probably 4-6" off, and the dress had a double layered skirt so she charged me $85, which I thought was a fair price. She was also super friendly, a genuine pleasure to interact with. I certainly recommend her shop to anyone needing tailoring done. read more

I had a couple of dresses and skirts where the hem had fallen out and I just needed it fixed, and simple fixes like torn coat pocket linings or buttons that had fallen off, so I figured I'd go to the closest (and cheapest) place. I picked up everything in time and when I got home I saw that all the hems were terrible (my fault for not checking before I left the store I guess). I've never seen a flimsier hem even on extremely cheap clothing from places like forever 21. In each case it was a single piece of string loosely tacked on at large intervals. One of my skirts that was hemmed isn't lined, so the hem is very visible and it was absolutely crazy--it was so uneven it looked like a mountain range. Not only do they look terrible, but the hems have all fallen out 1-3 wears later. These are work clothes that I wear in a corporate office and hand wash, but that are not super fancy or delicate fabrics. So these items aren't getting hard use and there's no reason why the hems should last for such a short time. I thought it'd be worth it for such straightforward work to go with the cheapest/local place, but I clearly got what I paid for. read more

I had two trousers that needed sewing repairs. Angie immediately greeted me when I entered her shop and asked me to wait while she attended another customer. When I showed her the trousers - one needed a seam repair or patch and the other needing to be hemmed - she immediately sewed up the seam that had torn and did not charge me. The pants that needed hemming were ready on time, freshly pressed, and presented on a hanger and wrapped with plastic. I'm now readying a bag of other items that need repairs. I got a bridesmaid dress altered here. When I got there to get measured, she wasn't too friendly. I felt uneasy leaving the dress but when I picked it up, it fit perfect. However, just to get my straps shortened and the dress taken in about 1/2 an inch on each side cost me $40!! Not sure I'll go back to her. She wasn't very charming. read more

When I showed up for my appointment today I was told Angie went home sick, but she never called to let me know. So I got out of work early drove all the way there, and didn't get so much as an apology from the girl working there. That is no way to run a business! Do not bring your items here to be altered!! I brought in 2 pair of wool pants to be let out with a promise date of a couple days. Then I was told it would take a week. I said no problem. Finally after 3 weeks I get a call to say they're done and to come pick them up. I go there and the store is closed with a be back in 20 minutes sign on the door. I do a U turn and spot the girl that works there across the street from the place. I ask her what's going on she tells me to come back in a couple of hours. So I go back after a couple hours, my pants aren't there and the girl running the store says that was really weird what I did earlier stopping her in the street. I told her you were across the street from the store, she told me not to come back to the store and if I did she'd have her boys waiting for me. A clear threat. I called the police on her and I finally got my pants back after 29 days in the shop. And NO work had been done to the pants!!! Then why did they tell me they were ready??? Do not go here, I think the people working there may be on drugs. read more

Got a pair of jeans hemmed and I think the length was left a little longer than I indicated and when I turned the jeans inside out, the ends of the legs where they were hemmed were all frayed, so I can't roll up my jeans to have a little cuff if I wanted. Looks like she didn't nicelt cut the excess threads off al all. Seemed like an amateur job, I've had a better hem before. Was very nice though. read more
