Upon arrival it seemed very hectic in there and unorganized, but I'm not a seamstress nor have I ever worked in that environment so I just dismissed it. I had dropped my dress off on September 21. I needed the straps adjusted, a hem, and I needed it taken in to eliminate the gap between my back and the dress. The seamstress told me there was no need to take it in, once everything else is done there will be no gap. I thought it was odd, but again I'm not a seamstress so I didn't think anything of it. She told me to return on October 17th to pick up the dress since my wedding would be just about 2 weeks away at the point. I arrived on the 17th eager to pick up my dress which slowly turned into what would be a ball of anxiety.. 5 minutes go by they couldn't find it, 10 minutes go by, still no dress. Finally they find it and it wasn't ready. They said it was because they had a question about the bustle which we had already confirmed all of this information in September when we dropped it off. We leave and she tells us to return the following Monday (Oct 21) to pick it up. We go to pick it up, I try on the dress and instantly begin to panic. The huge gab between my back and dress is still there and to top it off there is a stain on the train. We mention it to her while we're at the shop and she tells us not to worry about it you can barely see it.... you can 100% see the stain. We leave and send her a message once again addressing the stain, she was incredibly rude and insisted we put up a fight with the dress company for sending us a dirty dress. We sent her before pictures of what the dress looked like before we brought it to her and then how we left with it. Again, incredibly rude and insisted it wasn't her. She told us she's not scared of a review that we leave so I assume she won't mind this one. Brides, do NOT bring your dress here!!!!!! The last photo is how it arrived and the first 3 are how it came home.

Absolutely terrible experience! We were referred to this alteration place by another tailor who was…read morebooked up due to prom season. The women here are kind, but that's about the only good thing I can say. I honestly don't know if they're inexperienced or just have never worked with a Black woman's curves before, but not one, not two, but three of my dresses were completely botched. I also had a top altered and it came back lopsided. After the first round of alterations, the owner tried to gaslight me, saying they had only adjusted the strap for my burgundy dress (which was never the main issue). I initially asked for the sides to be taken in because the bust area was too big, but somehow, that got lost in translation. So I paid AGAIN, for all to be fixed and what I got back was even worse. Everything felt rushed, uneven, and downright sloppy. I bawled my eyes out because these dresses were meant for my birthday trip. The white dress? It was the most horrendous one, imagine the outline of Sarah Baartman on a modern-day garment. That's how distorted the shape was. Even after a third attempt, the seams were still crooked and the dress was unwearable. I'm now left dressless for my trip and out of money. If I could give this place zero stars, I would.

My gown had 5 layers of tulle and required a LOT of bustle buttons, and they handled every detail so beautifully. The dress fits perfectly and the craftsmanship truly made my vision come to life. Not only did they do an amazing job on my gown, but they also sell so many gorgeous dresses in the shop. My mother-in-law was able to find a beautiful dress there that Rosa altered flawlessly. My maid of honor and sister-in-law also had their dresses altered here, and every single one came out perfect. You can truly tell how much care, talent, and attention to detail Rosa and her team put into their work. Such a wonderful experience from start to finish and I'm so grateful I trusted them with such an important part of my wedding I'll definitely be adding photos after I get married in a week and a half!

Everything changed during my appointment with Fiona. I had a list of favorites from their website, and Fiona was incredible--she knew exactly where every single one was located. I went from having no options to having four beautiful dresses to choose from. Thank you, Fiona, for making this such a rare and wonderful experience!

Bassy's Tailoring

Bassy's Tailoring

Bassy saved my wedding dress and my wedding day!…read more I had originally gone to another tailor recommended by the boutique where I purchased my strapless princess gown. Unfortunately, the work done at the other tailor's shop left my dress butchered. When I realized something was wrong with the original tailoring, it was two months before my wedding. I was distraught because I didn't think a new tailor would take me due to the limited time before my wedding and it being right before bridal and prom season. However, someone recommended I contact Bassy and I'm so grateful for their rec! Bassy listened to my concerns regarding my dress and what the other tailor had planned to do to it, advised me to take back my dress straight away, and booked me for an appointment ASAP. Within a week Bassy had me in her shop to assess all the damage that had been done by the previous tailor: (1) the hem was uneven by inches; (2) the train was lopsided; (3) the bustle was just a loop and a button that would be visible and unsecure; (4) the bodice was taken in so much that three people were needed to zip me up, which (5) left the zipper of my dress straining and puckering; (6) so much of the bust was trimmed away that my chest was exposed whenever I moved; and (7) they made a sash instead of the custom shawl I ordered for my ceremony. The worst part about the original tailoring work is that so much fabric was cut away there was barely any fabric left to correct the shoddy work. My dress was in really horrible shape and I knew I wouldn't be able to find or order another dress in time for my wedding. Despite the multiple problems with my dress, Bassy assured me she would find solutions for the above issues and she did! Bassy evened out the dress' hem by rehemming it and removing a portion of its petticoat to ensure it kissed the floor evenly. For the train, she adjusted it so it would be symmetrical and less oblong. It looked gorgeous trailing behind me as I walked down the aisle. The bodice was a tricky fix, but Bassy executed it perfectly! To expand the bodice, she needed extra fabric and found it within the seam allowance of the bodice's panels. She undid every panel, let out a little bit of fabric from each, and carefully stitched the bodice back up so that each panel was even and proportional. She was able to expand the bodice while also making it look like it hadn't been deconstructed. Bassy's work allowed me to properly breath while wearing my dress and my mother was able to zip me up by herself with no trouble! Bassy also created a custom shawl for me that looked like something Audrey Hepburn would wear! The attention to detail is so incredible! Bassy made the shawl so there was a slight curve in the front that elegantly hugs my collar bone. I love this shawl so much I plan to continue wearing it for special events. The most incredible fix Bassy made to my dress is the bust. I thought I'd have to wear my shawl the entire wedding. Instead, she came up with the incredible idea to build up the bust of my dress with additional fabric. The original bust had a cat eye neckline with draping across it. Bassy was able to expand the bust above my chest and next to my underarms to give me more coverage. She did this by building up fabric that mimics the original bustline's shape. The final result is beautiful! No one would ever know that the work Bassy did was not part of the dress' original design. I'm incredibly grateful for the amazing and transformative work Bassy did to my dress, her professionalism, her expert advice, and her direct and honest communication. She always set realistic expectations and provided alternative solutions that would not compromise the integrity of my dress or its overall style. Bassy is also just a lovely person to be around. I was really sad about the state my dress was left in by the previous tailor. With each visit to Bassy's (and she booked me for as many as needed to get my dress perfect), I felt better and more confident. Bassy saved my dress, my wedding, and my peace of mind. Bassy hemmed several pairs of pants, took in the waist on others, and completely altered a vintage dress for me.
