Absolutely terrible experience! We were referred to this alteration place by another tailor who was…read morebooked up due to prom season. The women here are kind, but that's about the only good thing I can say. I honestly don't know if they're inexperienced or just have never worked with a Black woman's curves before, but not one, not two, but three of my dresses were completely botched. I also had a top altered and it came back lopsided. After the first round of alterations, the owner tried to gaslight me, saying they had only adjusted the strap for my burgundy dress (which was never the main issue). I initially asked for the sides to be taken in because the bust area was too big, but somehow, that got lost in translation. So I paid AGAIN, for all to be fixed and what I got back was even worse. Everything felt rushed, uneven, and downright sloppy. I bawled my eyes out because these dresses were meant for my birthday trip. The white dress? It was the most horrendous one, imagine the outline of Sarah Baartman on a modern-day garment. That's how distorted the shape was. Even after a third attempt, the seams were still crooked and the dress was unwearable. I'm now left dressless for my trip and out of money. If I could give this place zero stars, I would.

The wedding dress came out perfect and the bustle stayed in place all night long. I would recommend her for any alterations, especially for important occasions.

I rented a suit for a wedding I was in last weekend. The live band was incredible, and, per usual,…read moreI entered the dance floor with hip-swaying aplomb and a swagger that would make Usher jealous. The only problem was I didn't (or didn't want to) factor in the tightness of the pants rental. In one of my signature gyrations, I lowered my body down towards the floor, only to hear a heart-wrenching popping noise. When I came up, the pants were assuredly cleaved in two, with only my badonkadonk and my passion for pop cover bands to blame. There seemed no way to fix the problem. I was forlorn. Compounding the issue, I needed to return the pants to the rental company in three days. Not only did the talented tailor at Tasia fix the pants with, what I can only assume is some type of sorcery borne from the dark arts, but he managed to do it in not just days, but HOURS. I can't say enough good things about this sartorial magician and this tailor shop. Feel safe in the knowledge that if he/they can fix a wardrobe malfunction caused by an uncontrollable derrière, they can assuredly produce any alteration you need.

So at first I was going to give this 2-3 stars. The seamstress that helped me was professional and…read morethe store is beautiful. However some things were off. I came in asking for my wedding gown to NOT be hemmed but instead get something added to the dress so I can carry it (think bustle/ wristlet). Once the lady understood I would NOT be paying her for a complete tailoring she became stand off ish and made me feel stupid for asking for this "unconventional" service. I then asked how much she would charge me to hem my dress and she said starting price: $880!! Cash only is also very odd. Fast forward a few days, I took my gown to another seamstress who said she adds wristlets all the time and can easily hide the fabric in the seams. She charged me $20. When I asked how much she'd charge me for a full hem, she said: $220. I highly recommend going somewhere else. There is a great seamstress in west Hartford. This place is off.
