Extremely expensive took 200 dollars just to tighten because the dress was lose on me and cut the end because it was long.

I was in need of a rush alteration to my wedding dress as I found that I had lost too much weight…read moreafter my initial alterations were done and the hips didn't fit well anymore. The original location who did the alterations wouldn't take the job as (1) it's the week before Thanksgiving and (2) I needed it by Nov 28th. I called Alterations Plus Wednesday evening 20 minutes before they closed, spoke with Jay (the owner), and he told me if I came in at 8AM the next morning, they could get it done. AND THANK GOD I WENT WITH THEM! Maria, their bridal seamstress, was just amazing. She saw exactly what needed to be done and got it fixed in 24 hours! My dress fits better than I did after the first alterations. Despite this entire experience beginning with complete panic, Jay, Maria, and Megan put my mind at ease. I cannot say this enough, thank you thank you thank you! I highly recommend this place.

Absolutely terrible experience! We were referred to this alteration place by another tailor who was…read morebooked up due to prom season. The women here are kind, but that's about the only good thing I can say. I honestly don't know if they're inexperienced or just have never worked with a Black woman's curves before, but not one, not two, but three of my dresses were completely botched. I also had a top altered and it came back lopsided. After the first round of alterations, the owner tried to gaslight me, saying they had only adjusted the strap for my burgundy dress (which was never the main issue). I initially asked for the sides to be taken in because the bust area was too big, but somehow, that got lost in translation. So I paid AGAIN, for all to be fixed and what I got back was even worse. Everything felt rushed, uneven, and downright sloppy. I bawled my eyes out because these dresses were meant for my birthday trip. The white dress? It was the most horrendous one, imagine the outline of Sarah Baartman on a modern-day garment. That's how distorted the shape was. Even after a third attempt, the seams were still crooked and the dress was unwearable. I'm now left dressless for my trip and out of money. If I could give this place zero stars, I would.

I can't say enough wonderful things about *Tailors R Us* on Mendon Road in Cumberland, RI. The…read moregentleman who runs this shop is an absolute angel -- the kind of person you rarely come across these days. I've been to him several times over the years for various small tailoring jobs, and he's always been accommodating, kind, and delivers excellent work every single time. But my most recent visit deserves special recognition. My five-year-old daughter and I brought in a few items to be mended -- among them, two very beloved stuffed animals. One of them was her *Lucci bear*, a Build-A-Bear that holds her brother's recorded heartbeat from when he was still in utero. This bear has been her most treasured possession, especially during the time her brother spent in the NICU after birth. It's more than a toy -- it's a symbol of connection, comfort, and love. The tailor initially told us it would take about five days to complete everything, which was perfectly reasonable and not at all a problem. But when we got back into the parking lot, my daughter became visibly upset at the thought of being without Lucci bear for that long. As I was consoling my distraught daughter in the parking lot, the tailor noticed her tears through the window. He came to the window, gently knocked on the glass, and signaled with kindness in his eyes, to come back in *one hour*. Sure enough, when we returned, *everything* was ready -- all our items repaired and hemmed, and most importantly, Lucci bear lovingly restored. That small act meant the world to my daughter and to me as a mom. This man didn't just save us a return trip days later-- he gave a little girl back the one thing that made her feel close to her brother. That kind of compassion, empathy, and heart cannot be taught -- it's simply who he is. Tailors R Us is more than just a place for alterations. It's a place where community still matters and where people are treated with dignity, care, and genuine kindness. I will never go anywhere else, and I am forever grateful for this experience. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

I picked up shirt and it was evident they tried to clean the shirt and rubbed out a stain of some sort. I was told I would have to speak to the owner and had to come back. I returned only to find that the owner took no ownership of the problem. He insisted that the shirt must have been damaged prior to him working on it. I explained I brought a brand new shirt to him and tried it on infront of him to be altered. We have brought clothing to him in past that needed work and ran into items not being done on time for important events. We have gone there because of convenience but trust me this is a lousy run business. It's too bad. Some foreigners come here to better their lives and put their heart into their business. It's evident his heart is not into this business and he should just sell it to someone who enjoys being a tailor. Keep riding by this place until you find a real tailor shop.
