Fatima was fairly kind throughout the process, which is why it saddens me to leave this review. She completely mangled my favorite bag. I gave it to her to fix because it had a large tear in the front, and I figured she would try to restore it what it was before, or at least pretend to give a fraction of an iota of a shit to make the stitching subtle, but no. Instead, it looks like she got a needle and thread, blindfolded herself, and just took out years worth of anger on my bag. The stitching is VERY visible, and VERY sloppy. It honestly looks worse than it did before. The worst part? The tear isn't even fully mended. I was so taken aback by this atrocity that I just left. I still love this bag, so I guess I'll just have to put some color-matching duct tape over it. I'm sure she's great with clothes, but maybe don't trust her with your bags. read more

Came here to get a patch put in two pairs of pants. Quality is terrible. it looks like she was trying to run over an ex with a sewing machine the way none of the stitches are an even size nor lined up with each other. As someone with not a crafty bone in my body, I somehow feel I could have even done a better job. Thread didn't even match pants color either. And she had the audacity to charge me $15 for each 2-inch patch she put in. Save your money and your clothes. Never go here. read more

I used this service to hem a dress for my son's wedding. My mum was a tailor so my perception of service may be a bit more stringent than most. I know what I'm looking at. I found the timing long for such a simple alteration (I would have done it myself but I had loads of other wedding chores and this was a very simple offload). I also thought it costly but, as I don't have things altered commercially, this could just be me being out of date. The proprietor was pleasant. Read this review if you are a fellow enthusiast in tapered, streamlined clothing in the menswear/streetwear realm. I seem to be one of the few that visits tailors for this reason (a worthy reason, at that). I dropped off three pieces of clothing: a wool overcoat, and two pairs of denim. I asked her to bring in the waist of the coat ($35), and taper the inseam of both pants for a slimmer appearance ($15 each). Keep in mind that she only takes cash. I told Fatima that there was no rush in returning my clothes back, and she said that I could come in four days later to pick them up. So I'd say plan out your visit and expect to have your items back in a week, more or less. Four days later, I came to try on my clothing -- the overcoat fit wonderfully, and no longer looks like it was bought off the rack. Very happy how it came out. As for the pants, she went overboard with the tapering, and I couldn't fit my size 11 feet through the non-elastic openings. Tragic. After sensing my visible disappointment, Fatima kindly offered to readjust them at no extra cost and have me come back in the next day. Bless up, Fatima. Fast forward to the next day. Low and behold, we have two damn beautifully fitting pairs of pants. Just snug enough for my feet to wiggle through, these pants now look like a couple of APC petite standards. While her service isn't as cheap as I would like and she's a woman of very, very few words, I can tell Fatima has a good heart and lots of experience. read more

I needed my sleeves shortened on a blazer on a bit of a time crunch, and Fatima was able to do it for me with no issues. Definitely see Fatima for jeans or dress hems. She is super quick and does a reliably good job. That's why I gave her 4 stars. I still bring long maxi dresses and jeans. Bring cash. I really liked Fatima but have to admit her work isn't as detail oriented as I would like for really nice things. I've had to have a few things redone or adjusted by another tailor because the work just wasn't up to the standard I would expect for a designer jacket or dress. I dropped off pants (100% wool, S110) for tailoring: hemming and tapering. The tapering was perfect, but the hemming was atrocious. Uneven and too tight (causing the material to bunch). Where the stitches are too tight, the holes are enlarged and the fabric is ruined (looks like someone yanked on a snagged thread). As other reviews have mentioned, the ordeal too longer than she quoted. Although she said two week, it took four weeks (to hem and tapering pants?!?). I would suggest people go elsewhere to have products you care about tailored. read more

I was looking for a tailor to customize a new suit from Banana, for the wedding of a dear friend. After looking at a couple reviews for shops around Providence, I decided on Fatima's because of her office worker-friendly schedule. I brought in the suit jacket as the pants had to be ordered from a different location and mailed to me. Fatima is pleasant, soft-spoken, but you sense she knows her craft well. She listens to what you're looking for and is familiar with different styles of pants, jackets, and shirts. She had me try on the jacket, made some mental notes, and I was done. She asked me how I found her as she probably didn't recognize me as a returning customer, and I told her "Yelp!" A week later after dropping off the jacket (today), I went in and tried on the jacket. It was so well done and truly felt like a custom jacket tailored to me. As I had an extra day before the wedding, she decided to make some small tweaks to truly make it a homerun. Meanwhile, the pants had come in, and alas, were too big on the waist and too long on the leg. I asked her if there was *any way possible* to have the pants taken in and hemmed by tomorrow and without a whim she said "ok, I'll come in early tomorrow". It should be noted that this was my first time seeing Fatima, so it's not as though she was making an exemption for a loyal customer. However after seeing the work she has done, coupled with the fact she is extra accommodating to someone in a bind, she has made me a fevered loyal customer. I've read some Yelpers expressingnot giving Fatima and her shop 5 stars because of the fact she does not accept credit/debit cards. I'm not the least bit concerned; with her expertise and customer service, she can accept, or not accept, whatever she wants! read more

She took care to measure my inseam and ask me the heel height I typically wear to ensure that she hemmed to the right length (before she asked that I was totally going to guess). Fatima has been absolutely a joy to work with. I have been slowly tailoring my whole dress shirt collection. I was nervous initially choosing a tailor because the shirts are brooks brothers noniron material that uses a special tape in the seams, and I was worried that when I washed them the alterations would wrinkle at the seams, but Fatima put me right at ease. She has altered over 8 shirts for me so far over the last few months and they have all come out perfectly! They fit just as expected and they have worn over time beautifully. She not only brought in the body of the shirt from the seams but also the sleeves as well so the shirt fit proportionally. In terms of price and timeliness, Fatima prices are extremely reasonable at $20 per shirt and she has always been on time. Highly recommend! read more

Fatima is a miracle worker. I had a bridesmaids dress that was in dire need of alterations but was only sent to be a few days before the wedding...not ideal. I brought it in on a Saturday and she had it finished by Monday. She had a family emergency and had to close her shop early on the day the dress was ready, but made sure to call me and waited until I could pick up the dress. Took two pairs of pants in to be shortened by 1-3 inches each. The stitching was very low quality. The threading was visible from the exterior of the pants. There were loose threads on the inside. The fabric started to bunch together after one wearing. Now, about one month later, the hemming has completely fallen out of one leg. Now to take them to a different tailor. BTW, I work in an office setting and only wear these pants to work. So, it's not exactly like I've been putting them through heavy use. read more

Precision tailoring is correct and for a great price! I took in two work skirts that were way to big so that they could be fitted to my waist, a jacket with a split open sleeve, and jeans needing new buttons. She was done 4 days later and the total was $40! Everywhere else I called wanted $20 to take in each skirt, $10 to fix the sleeve and $7 for the buttons. The skirts went from fitting around my hips to being high-waisted. They look absolutely perfect now. You would never know they had been taken in so much.
