I would highly recommend Bass Pro Shops. This happened a little while back. My father took me to bass pro to invest in a Medium/Heavy action Bass rod for my birthday. I have always been a crappie or catfish fisherman and have never really focused on Bass. When I started on Bass in particular my father figured I needed a fishing rod for the job. Two months later I am at the lake and hook into a fairly good sized catfish while bass fishing and when reeling it in the rod snapped. At the end of the trip I tossed it behind the seat of my truck and forgot about it as I did not have the receipt. A couple of months later I was at Bass Pro again to resupply my tackle box and remembered the rod. I went to the salesman that I bought it from and explained what happened and asked if there were any options opened to me. He sent me to customer service and told me they would be able to print another receipt for me. They did and told me to bring the broken rod back and they would work something out. I returned with the broken rod and they gave me store credit for the full amount. I went back to the fishing rods and the same salesman was there. He asked me if I was in a hurry to replace the rod rod and I asked why? He told me if I would wait two weeks they had a large sale coming up and with the discounts that were going to come up he could get me a much better rod for the same price. I returned two weeks later and found the salesman and he showed me a newly released signature series rod that at regular price was twice what I had paid for the first rod. With the specials it came in at the same price. I have had that rod for a long while now and still use it. Thank you Bass Pro for working with me when many other stores would have just told me I was out of luck. Other good things about Bass Pro is: 1. An excellent seafood restaurant 2. Went in to Bass Pro Shops in Grapevine to check out their selection of winter gear. As I was walking in On October 22, around lunchtime trying to figure out how the entrance worked (lots of turnstiles and some don't move easily) the blonde lady working the front door proclaims "really jack***?" I turned to look at who said that, and I saw the employee eating a muffin eyeing me up and down. I said "sorry, it's my first time coming to this location" to which she replies "don't care, bye, keep moving." Maybe she was having a bad day but after reading some of the other reviews, maybe it's just a location with poor customer service. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly as always. I ended up saving nearly $500 on my creedmore by going with the savage they had on sale rather than the Ruger model I used to have. I was a bit skeptical at first as I knew how true the Ruger is. After having used the savage I can say there is very little if any difference aside from the folding stock which I do miss but can always put on here with a few modifications. They went ahead and put my accessories on and zeroed it in at 100 yards for me. Very helpful and with the savings it payed for nearly all the optic I got for it. read more

I was happy with my purchase at BassPro Sunday till I saw the same handgun for sale at a Cabela's with the crimson trace laser grip at the same price $649.99. The Micro 9mm Kimber I bought at BassPro doesn't have the laser grip but sells for the same price. No bueno!! Always price check!! I feel BassPro is always charging a little or a lot more then competition. If you're not putting in the time to research the product you intend to buy they will definitely get the best of you monetary wise. I've spent a lot of money there and been fairly loyal but this puts a bad taste in my mouth. read more

I went into the store to purchase 3 items. One was a new magazine for the M&P EZ. Second was the M&P 2.0 9mm 4.25 barrel. Third was the Blackhawk T series holster for the M&P. I was unable to locate the magazine I was looking for. So I went to the gun counter. While there I figured I'd go ahead and get the stuff for the M&P started. Two employees less then 10ft from me talked amongst themselves while I stood there for over 5 minutes. There were no other customers at the counter. Oddly enough I was the only one standing there. So after 5 minutes of not even a "hi" or anything I left the store. While driving out of the parking lot I called the manager and informed him. He didn't seem too concerned. So I'll go to a discount weapons sales store for the new weapon and magazine. I'll order the new holster off amazon. Apparently Bass Pro has gotten too big where they just don't care. read more

For a gun shop Bass Pro shops doesn't support concealed carry. The Grapevine store prevented both my wife and I from entering the Grapevine Texas store Sunday, 12-22-19 without surrendering our properly concealed handguns to have them locked up. I called their corporate customer service who initially didn't want to get involved, but finally connected me to a lady who said they allow concealed carry in their store if they are carried in compliance with state law. That was the only part of her statement that made any sense, but then she started listing a huge number of conditions, telling me all of their "conditions" were part of Texas law, which they are not. Sorry, Bass Pro Shops' "conditions" do not make Texas Law. When I pointed this out she acted surprised I knew the applicable laws, but then started her statement all over again, like she was reading from a prepared list. They just need to post the 30.06 and 30.07 signs and move past their BS. read more

#116-2016: Let me begin this review with a statement: I DO NOT OWN A GUN nor will I EVER own any firearm! Therefore I am the right person to write a review on this place without people thinking ALL BASS PRO costumers are animal killers. I have come to this location multiple times during my living in TX and I have to admit the staff is pretty knowledgeable and fairly amicable and truly patient. True, the whole site looks more like a museum filled with dead staged wildlife. But, let me ask you this.. how else can a kid get to see wild coyotes, wolves, boars, bears, antilopes, mooses and the likes? There also are a few fish and some turtles (all alive). On to the store itself: I have found quite a few clothing items on sales and they are comfortable, durable and of a good solid built. I have also purchased items for fishing and camping. I do NOT like firearms and the whole section (mind you a pretty big chunk of the store) dedicated to all firearms (guns, rifles and such)... I simply ignored. If there is something that you don't like or bugs you, don't waste your time whining and complaining about, just ignore. Texas loves its right to bear arms so... deal with it. I don't do firearms. I don't own and firearm. I will NEVER live in a house where there is a firearm. To each their own. read more

Came here with my family. Really racist employees here. A older white gentleman asked my sister if she spoke english just because we are a little tan and are half Hispanic. We were both born in the U.S and English is our only language. Racial profiling is common here. I spoke with a employee at the snack bar and asked here where to file a complaint, she was very kind and understanding. She stated to me that the employee who had asked my sister if she spoke English had made very controversial, racist remarks in the past. Since my personal version of being an outdoorsman/person is feeding the squirrels in my yard, I can't really comment about all the stuff they have in this place. It looks like they've got everything for every outdoor activity, though. This review, however, is really for one tiny area of the store: the knife shop. I take my kitchen knives there periodically to be sharpened. They do a fantastic job. I just had them done recently and they are like new. And they just charged me $2 per knife. I shouldn't have waited so long. I cut myself with dull knives 3 times in the past 2 weeks! I should buy stock in the Band-Aid corp! (Or maybe I shouldn't drink while I cook!) read more

I brought my dad here to buy a radio. You know the kind, if an apocalypse comes, and you don't have power, it has a crank to power it? Really? I didn't either. That's what my dad wanted so we were on a hunt. We walked around the camping supplies, no luck. We went to the boat radios, not there. Then trekked over to hunting, still can't find it. Now note, this whole time not one person asked to assist us. So, then we had to hunt for an employee. Finally, we found one. They said to look in the souvenir section that carries brick and brack. They had sun dials and thermometers, but no radios. This trip was a bust. I just would have been nice to walk in ask someone if they carried it, then found out they didn't, then left. read more

My review is specifically regarding their firearm sales. Gun Counter - Purchased a firearm several months ago and thought the issue with customer service was isolated. I went to the counter an looked around but nobody acknowledged my presence for around 10 mins. I finally had to go and specifically address an employee. Although he was a bit rude, I wasn't worried as I already saw they had what I wanted and completed transaction. Went again this week to purchase another firearm. Again was at counter and waited about 10 minutes. Several employees behind counter were together but never once welcomed or asked if I had questions even though they looked up and saw me. Also just to clarify there was not other customers around as it was 830 on a weekday. Left store without purchase as I'll rather spend money at or another local store with better customer service. read more

Apparently Andrew K., my hubster, hadn't been to Bass Pro in a while. We went this evening not to shop, but to shoot. I got a new piece and I wanted to try it out. It's my birthday after all, and apparently it's becoming tradition to go shooting on things like honeymoons and birthdays in our family. Aesthetically, Bass Pro one ups Cabela's a little bit. They have a lot more crammed into a smaller space it seems, but there was something that I liked about the look and feel of it. As far as their gun range, there are seven stalls, not one, and the hubster and I shared a lane. At $10 a pop each, that's not too bad. Only problem? Still, like Cabela's, totally out of 9mm ammunition. The only thing I could buy was expensive hollow points made for killing things and not target practice... yikes! So we just bought one box of that and tested out my new Smith and Wesson. The rest of the time we spent with the .40 Ruger and har har har... it was a blast. The target mover thing, as I like to call it, was easy to use. You punch the position you want, the distance and hit enter and zoom... out goes your target. Felt safe inside the range the whole time as well. Once finished, the guy behind the counter asked me how we did. I told him I was frustrated. This was my second time I shot, but I didn't feel as comfortable or well aimed as the first time. So instead of standing there like a dope, he completely went above and beyond by coming around the counter, showed me how I wanted to hold my gun and then showed me how I wanted to stand. Once in the correct stance he hit my gun like it would when it recoils, and I absorbed the shock in my body, instead of the incorrect way I was doing it before. Basically, he showed me how to own that gun and I'll definitely be coming back for more practice once I can get some cheap ammo. Bass Pro is a close drive, and we had lots of fun. PS. All the guys at the shooting range area were forced to guess my age. I was told I don't look much more than 16, but of course I'm not, so they guessed 23, 24... no sirs... I am indeed 29 today! This review is SPECIFICALLY geared toward the Tracker boat sales dept/boat sales management, not Bass Pro as a whole. These people are absolutely rude, uninformative and unprofessional. I went into Bass Pro, Grapevine to purchase a boat on 1/08/13. A boat that was on the showroom floor and I was assured they had in stock prior to beginning the paperwork. I agreed to purchase the boat with my own financing. After signing off paperwork that was not explained (an authorization to order), I was conveniently told my boat would arrive in "maybe about a week". Me: " Wait, you said it was in stock?" Sales idiot: "Oh yeah, well that option you wanted on the trailer? We don't have that so well have to get it from another location." Me: Bummed "Ok, no problem. I can wait a bit" The following week I decide to check on the status of my delivery, since I received no real time frame or update during this period. I eventually (after 2 days worth of attempted calls) spoke with a manager who informed me in her most condescending attitude possible "your boat is scheduled for delivery tomorrow, but I wouldn't bet on it. In fact, it's highly unlikely. I would expect it sometime next week". Me: "Umm... ok?" Today is 2/2/13. Nearly four weeks since my original order of something I was assured I would be taking home that day. I have yet to receive any kind of contact, update or confirmation the boat has been ordered. When I do try and call about it, I don't get any kind of information except "give me your number, we'll call you back." I have not ever, after the 10-15 calls I've made inquiring about my order received a return call with any relevant information. If you don't believe me call the Bass Pro and ask to be transferred to boat sales. Once your call is patched through expect to be greeted by a warm and professional "Yeah..." "Yep.." For those of you that have been in a few different Bass Pro shops but have yet to experience this one, you are in for a treat. Forget the Bass Pro at the Pyramid in Memphis, the employees don't know the difference between a bass pole and black powder ramrod. These people do. This is a great store with employees that actually want to help you and actually have the ability and knowledge to truly help. They are extremely friendly and ask if there is anything they can do to help. If you let them know you're just browsing, they let you without harassment or annoying sales pressure. Also, unlike the Bass Pro at the Pyramid, they have people that actually know how to properly tune a bow. They also have a pistol range and a 100 yard rifle range. This place got it right. Why couldn't the Pyramid put I. A 100 yard rifle range to sight in the expensive scope on the high dollar rifle you just bought at their store? Hands down, this is a much better Bass Pro. read more

I don't do the outdoors, so i'm not gonna pretend that I knew what I was walking into. All I wanted to do was have Baby P's first picture with Santa in a controlled environment. That's what I got and I was purely satisfied. However his Daddy is an outdoors person. Bigtime. I'm talking deer and hog hunting.....rafting, fishing, camping. I know, opposites attract ok. So when I suggested Bass Pro Shop for Santa pictures, I go absolutely no pushback. I knew why when we were waiting, lol. We went into every single section of the store....camping, ammunition, boating, outdoor something....he was like a kid in a candy shop. I ended up getting some pepper spray bc I wish a MF would....and he said that we may go back to make a purchase of the gun kind after Christmas. He said they were overpriced on some of their items like bullets and camping gear, but they had every thing you needed under one roof. While I have frequented this store over the years to use their pistol range, I'm afraid that is a thing of the past. The greeters have been instructed to lock all guns and range bags, even for those persons with a valid carry license. Last time I let a Basspro greeter lock/unlock a firearm, the idiot pointed the muzzle directly at my chest when returning the gun to me; an absolute no-no if you know the first thing about firearm safety. The folks at the gun counters know this, the greeters should too; especially, since guns are hot off the range and could have a round in the chamber. I also think it unsafe for the range patrons to have their guns openly displayed in the greeter area during the lock/unlock process. In the case of the Basspro in Grapevine, this lobby also shares the entrance to a hotel and restaurant; I'm sure those folks would be happy to avoid having firearms waved about the lobby by unsafe greeters. I am boycotting this store until the policy is reversed. read more

Went yesterday for Santa's wonderland. The staff was overall pretty rude and unorganized. I stood in line not knowing that I was supposed to get a time slot card. Went to go get one from the girl at the front after a CUSTOMER informed me I needed one. The girl at the front gave me one. She was too busy being rude to another customer to see us walking in with a baby who was dressed head to toe in Christmas outfit. Overall this just wasn't a good experience and I probably wont go back. A lot of the items we we looked at buying didnt have prices on them. Some toys and other fishing items so that was frustrating and we ended up not making a purchase. read more

I love Bass Pro Shops. If you're an outdoor person, there's no doubt that you won't love it as well. I enjoy bringing my small children shopping with me. They have two aquariums inside. There is also an arcade area for smaller children. They have a bow/gun range area. There is a lot of staff in every section of the store to ask if you need any help. The bathroom is very well kept. It's spacious and clean. Bass Pro usually have free family events inside. Bass Pro has plenty of seasonal clothing and hunting gear. I do not own any guns, but was looking into buying my boyfriend a gun. I was very clueless and the salesman was extremely knowledgeable and gave me a lot of detail regarding the gun I wanted to buy. If I ever need advice on what I should get my boyfriend for Christmas or his birthday, the guys there knows exactly what to say! The line to check out is speedy. There is a small make shift pond by the entrance way. See if you can spot craw fishes. :P read more

I love Bass Pro, I do. I love it. I can take a 3 year old and the dog and get lost in there for at least a couple of hours. We've been doing that for at least two years...and it looks like the trend is catching on. Our KP chicken loves to 'drive boats.' He gets so excited when we drive up and he sees all the boats outside. I swear, anything that has to do with hunting, fishing, camping...hell even GOLF, you will find it here. We usually go when it's too wet or cold outside and we need an excuse to take the dog with us somewhere. I never would have ever imagined myself at a Bass Pro. This was a very disappointing experience, I was in the fishing section and was there to buy some line get it spooled. I was waiting behind the gentlemen they were currently helping and was told I would be next, no problem. As the gentlemen was finished with his purchase another man approached and said he needed helped right away as he had been waiting 5 minutes already....yet I had been standing there for over 30 and didn't see him. He told them he wanted to buy some rather expensive gear and was threatening to leave. So, instead of helping me who had waited patiently they helped this new customer instead and told me I would be helped next, I was already pissed off because that's pretty bush league stuff. Then another employee comes up and asks what I need, I tell him I needed to buy some line and a reel and get it spooled. I could tell he didn't want to spool any line so he said to keep waiting and the other guy could help me when he was done......30 minutes later the customer who cut in front of me finally finished and it was my turn. Except...the guy I was waiting on had to go on lunch since he was now past his time or whatever. To add insult to the wound, the employee who said he couldn't spool line was later spooling line for another customer. I spend a good chunk of money at Cabelas and BPS throughout the year for ammo, firearms, fly fishing, bass fishing, kayaks, apparel and dog toys but this was such a poor experience I haven't been back since and now choose to buy through smaller specialty shops. read more

This place is a cool place to go for all kinds of sports stuff but to top it off you can even just walk around here inside and get to know a lot of different things Texas can provide as far as nature and outdoors activities. They also have a bunch of neat stuff that you can take a look at with your children and just walk around and look at. read more

I had no idea how truly gigantic this store is. We went in looking to shoot in the gun range but got distracted by all the things to look at, like the gigantic waterfall into a large tank with fish and an accompanying stuffed yak. Lots and lots of taxidermied animals and several displays of live animals, like a rattlesnake, were set up throughout the store. It took us forever to find the gun range which is tucked away in a small corner next to a big shooting arcade where you can pay to shoot electronic guns at game on a huge screen. If you are going to shoot here, know that you need to check your gun in with the greeter at the door. The greeter puts a lock on your guns that the gun range employee will unlock after you've paid your range fee. He locks them up again as you leave and you get them unlocked as you walk out. There are seven lanes for handguns and we got there early enough to each have our own, but when we left there were families of three sharing one lane. It's first come, first serve, so getting there early served us well. They have automatic targets that baffled me, but lo and behold, there were instructions on the other side of the booth. So hooray for reading! I was also confused by the fact that you are asked to tape your targets rather than clip them in. It took a couple of minutes before I found the tape hanging on the wall, so look for that. The employees were all very nice, if not super informative for first time shooters at their range. We had a good time and will definitely be back! And next time I want a picture with that yak. read more

Ammunition - Something seems very off here.... John supposedly hands out numbers to those waiting out front prior to opening. I personally was out front at 8:00 am and he handed numbered tickets around 8:30-8:40 with about 10 individuals who arrived before me. When they finally came out with 1 tiny cart around 10:00 am, there were numbers called in the early 40s while I had a numbered ticket in the early 60s. Mind you only about 10 people there prior to arrival. Do you truly believe John came to work a few hours before the store opened and handed out numbers in spurts earlier then an hour before the store opened? Academy and Cabellas have people stand in line and give you numbers. You are not able to get a ticket, leave and then return. Shady here..... No, I did not get ammunition. I did however have an aggressive sales pitch for a Club Card membership. read more

I ordered a rifle online. I got an email saying i can pick it up, so i go in and the man at the firearms desk says 'there's a problem with the paperwork and only Charles can fix it.... Charles isn't in today". It's Thursday at 3:45pm. I had just called earlier that day and asked if i can come do my NCIS form early and was told yes with extreme confidence. The man says i also can't do my NCIS early. Wow, now i have to come back again and will get a delay on NCIS and have to come back a 3rd time. It's an hour round trip. 3 hours of driving because these people are grossly incompetent. It's unbelievable. I've now had 3 conversations with people at BPS and ALL of them have given false information - about the availability of the rifle, about being able to get one that's in-stock instead of waiting on shipment, and about being able to do the NCIS early, ALL WERE WRONG... and now that my item has been delivered, there's a 'problem with the paperwork' and i now have to wait on someone named Charles to come to work. My god, this is my first experience with BPS and will certainly be my last, i was about to purchase a pistol to also pickup at the same time, thank god i didn't.... read more

Hubby and i always go here, they have a great selection of columbia gear (our favorite) and are good on returns. We bought a gun last weekend and Fred was absolutely wonderful as we are first time buyers. We told him that we were looking for home defense and went through and told each something about his recommended picks. We were able to hold them and he even helped us pick one out that the two of us could use easily. Fred will be our go to guy from now on. read more
