I hardly get dessert but today we needed to grab ice cream for a party so we stopped at the Moanaloa shopping center location. The person I was with ordered their drink and while she was making it another associate came out and took my order. I told her I wanted a waffle cone with jamoca almond fudge. Just after I said that my friend reacted with a, "whoa you like that too?" I responded, "yeah! I usually like mint chocolate chip but I decided to switch it up a bit." The girl helping me asks how many scoops I wanted and good thing I looked because she had one scoop of mint in the cone. I told her, "oh I wanted jamoca almond fudge." She tells me, "you told me mint chocolate chip." Surprised with her response, I repeated what I wanted. She turns and dumps the scoop back into the mint and scoops jamoca into the cone. It just stunned me that she reacted with responding to me in that manner whether I was right or wrong, I'm still a paying customer. I was very shocked and left quite annoyed by that. To further the situation, as soon as she had said that to me, the girl making friends drink looked up at her with a look like, why did you say that. Very helpful staff and clean! Location is kinda small, but that's not much of a worry. Also has outdoor seating for 4-6 people I believe. Nothing but good things to say except it was odd that many of the other establishments had shorter hours due to the holiday. I just went by and was surprised to see on New Years Eve, that it was open from 11am-10 PM, on a Sunday. Not sure why that is, but was hoping it would at least close early, due to the circumstances. The girl working there was so friendly and helped me design the cake bc i had no idea what I thought my friend would like on the cake. Eventually we found out we would add a rainbow for the cake! It was perfect. I got it to have rainbow sprinkles with my friend's name on it and everything. I got a medium cake and it was about $25. Totally worth it. They have built the largest ice cream specialty shop and chanceee Baskin Robbins it is! Located in the Moanaloa Shopping Center next door to Ruby Tuesday and Verizon. So on this crisp Wednesday evening, families having just finished dinner are looking for that sweet sensation so they line up and choose from the 31 different flavors. From the traditional strawberry, vanilla and chocolate to pistachio almond, nutty coconut, and reeses peanut butter cup ice cream. It was my turn to order and the stress sets in because of the vast amount of yummy choices. From The Cappucino Blast, sundaes, banana splits and ice ream cakes..... I chose a single scoop of Rocky Road on a sugar cone, my favorite. The taste is the same as I remember from when I was a keiki (child). Soft, smooth and sweet. Perfect for this evening. Within minutes, my yummy delight was gone. The establishment was clean and organized. There were a couple of tables outside for those want to enjoy the island weather. Servers were young and enthusiastic. They were all professional and mature and knew their jobs. There is ample parking in the shopping center even for those of you that own electric cars. Hooray for making it to the end of May! Specifically any month that ends on the 31st is a great day to visit Baskin Robbins. I wasn't able to go after work, so we decided to get some ice cream after dinner...and it seems like everyone else had the same idea! Who could blame all of us? $1.50 for a healthy sized scoop of rich, creamy ice cream...yes...it is totally worth the wait! Also, kids will actually stand next to their parents in line just for the chance to get some ice cream! The wait itself is not that bad. This particular store had an employee manning the door. She let one group in at a time so that there would be 1 group paying for their ice cream, the next group being helped with their order and one group waiting. Nobody crowding in the store and no one cutting in line. Whether people chose to stand outside and eat their treats or take a big bag full of ice cream bowls home to enjoy, everyone seemed happy when leaving...and I didn't hear any complaints! I've had too many check-ins to this location not to review Baskin-Robbins. I've always viewed them as some sub-par chain, because I'm somewhat snooty about my ice cream choices, and prefer local creameries that are doing something unique to the largest ice cream chain I can think of. That point of view changed entirely when my boyfriend mentioned wanting a milkshake from here about a year ago. I've never had a milkshake from Baskin-Robbins, and I'm now convinced that is the best reason to go there. The second best reason is their flavor of the month. They have consistently had me coming back simply to try out whatever their new flavor is, and I can't think of a time it wasn't good. Praise for this location alone includes their friendly staff and the fact that they're never overwhelmingly busy when we come, which is usually around 8 or 9 at night. The spot is clean and welcoming, and the staff is more than happy to let you sample as much as you'd like. Perhaps they just know as at this point, but this Baskin-Robbins is a solid choice that we come to far too often, but for good reason. read more

Who doesn't love ice cream? Basking Robins is always my go to, especially since I'm pregnant now. It literally takes me 5 minutes to drive from my house to ice cream lol. There's honestly no other ice cream place for miles. Unless I'm craving frozen yogurt but that's for another review. The hours are perfect although some nights I wish they were 24hrs. And I like that there's so many flavors to choose from cause I never know what I'm craving. I'm close to having tried them all I think. But my go to flavors are always Icing in the cake or Strawberry Cheesecake. This specific location though is perfect cause it doesn't get too busy where you're waiting in line for an hour and the workers are always super happy and nice. I like that. Management here is really rude, myself and a family behind me made it in before 10 but only my order was accepted. A young girl in red coldly told them "um we're closed, we closed 4 minutes ago." Felt really bad for them and the others still lined up outside. This location really needs to communicate better with the customers and treat them like people. I'm not sure whether I'm supposed to go to the store first or if I'm supposed to go to it after I visit the dental office LOL but either way that I go I love love love the cookie ice cream sandwich. Usually I just visit Baskin-Robbins on day 31 because of the cheaper prices and or I'll visit the Baskin-Robbins when I receive text messages or emails about promotions. The girls inside Are young and sometimes inexperienced. Service, service, service! High school/college kids, no concept of service. How hard is it to accommodate a request? Let me tell you, being portagee, I use my hands to talk too. The girl didn't seem to understand, but another site did my quart half & half - side by side. She and the other 2 said "oh, we don't do that, just one on the bottom and the other on top." I like being able to eat both at the same time instead having to dig a hole to get to the other flavor. I still tip them, but I'll not be going back. Every time I visited this location, the service was just okay. However, the last time I had gone, the service was horrible! These two girls were so rude! They were talking amongst themselves and I had to get their attention to tell them what I wanted. I ordered the single scoop ice cream cookie sandwich. Once one of them started getting my ice cream, the other rang me up. I gave them a coupon I had for $1 off, but I didn't realize you needed to spend $4 or more. No problem, I'll just get the double scoop ice cream sandwich. The one girl at the register was confused for whatever reason and the other girl scooping my ice cream was clearly irritated I ordered more. Uhm.... to the girl that was scooping my ice cream, you just add one more scoop of ice cream and one cookie. Did you not know how to do basic math or?? I didn't understand the confusion there. Also, don't you want your customer to be spending more? Smh. Learn how to provide better customer service. If I was your manager, I would've fired your asses. WHaaaaat?? How can you not have Rainbow Sherbet and Jamoca Almond Fudge when I visited?! So I ordered Citrus Ice and it tasted good but after 3 bites it was way to sweet. What a travesty! When you come here know that you have 22 choices not the 31 flavors we are accustomed to at "normal" Baskin-Robbins. If you know this and you are not picky about your flavors you will be OK. Also, service here is just OK. I never left thinking the people were nice. They just don't make any impression. I must admit the cake area always looks fully stocked. This Baskin-Robbins would probably be the location I visit most, since it's the closest to where I live. It never fails to satisfy my craving for diehard good ice cream that's always consistent. Often, after my family goes to Ruby Tuesday for dinner, we'll go right next door to Baskin for dessert. The only downside to this Baskin location is that it's smaller than others I've been to. There isn't much seating, save for one table inside and one outside. But, since there are lots of benches by Ruby Tuesday, we often go and sit there (unless it's full or we decide to take our ice cream to go). I've been pretty fortunate as to score the table inside most times during my Baskin visit. Otherwise, my family is just content to stand outside and eat our ice cream. Also, because this location is smaller, it has a smaller selection of ice cream flavors available. On more than one occasion, my favorite "Peanut Butter 'n Chocolate" flavor hasn't been available, and I guess they rotate the "not as standard" flavors. The more popular flavors are located in the predominant display case (i.e., monthly flavors) and the others are in a smaller freezer behind the counter. But, you can easily still see what's available via the menu board (the "secondary" flavors are listed on top of the counter as well). And, the workers here are always good about giving samples of whatever flavor you ask for. I try to limit my samples to two before deciding what I want. Here are some of the flavors my family and I enjoy: "Fudge Brownie": It's hard for me to deviate from my beloved "Peanut Butter 'n Chocolate," but I actually do try to get new flavors from Baskin every once in a while. Sometimes I just give in and go with my craving ... unless something new strikes my fancy. This is what happened during my latest visit. I was all set to get "Peanut Butter 'n Chocolate" like my parents when I noticed this brownie flavor. Brownies are one of my favorite snacks, and this flavor includes chocolate fudge ice cream, fudge brownie pieces and walnuts. I ordinarily don't like walnuts, but I made an exception for this flavor. I really like the flavor of chocolate fudge, and this flavor was extra dense and chocolaty because of the brownie pieces. And, they don't skimp on the brownies. I enjoyed those decadent chunks in almost every bite and highly recommend this flavor for any brownie fanatic. I was glad I got it ... and I would gladly order this super chocolaty flavor again if it's available. "Chocoholics Resolution Ice Cream": This is the featured January flavor of the month, and I got a sample of it before making my decision. I really did like this flavor, but it wasn't as chocolaty as I was expecting (compared to the brownie version that I sampled right after it and ultimately ended up ordering). This limited-time flavor includes Swiss-style chocolate ice cream, chocolate ganache cake pieces, white caramel-filled cups and a chocolate ganache flavored ribbon. I did like the lighter taste of the Swiss chocolate, and the caramel-filled chunks provided bursts of explosion. If I was looking for something not super decadent, I would have ordered this flavor. It's definitely different and has a nice consistency and texture to it. If I visit Baskin again before the month is up, I may just order this flavor in my single scoop. "Peanut Butter 'n Chocolate": This flavor still reigns as my Baskin favorite, and if my mom and dad are with me, they always get this flavor, without fail. It sports the best combo of peanut butter and chocolate around, and I always use this as the standard when I try other peanut butter and chocolate flavors. This flavor is pretty simple in of itself -- chocolate ice cream and a chunky peanut butter ribbon. But man, those peanut butter chunks make all the difference. I'm a die-hard peanut butter fan and I like strong peanut butter flavors, so this ice cream flavor doesn't disappoint. I feel like the chocolate-peanut butter ratio is even so you really get the best of both worlds when this flavor is available. "OREO Cookies and Cream": I love cookies and cream ice cream ... it definitely brings back some of that childhood nostalgia, as this was my favorite flavor when I was a kid. But the fact that this flavor is readily infused with OREO cookies makes it even better! You seriously get OREO chunks in every single bite. read more

The location is simply ok. The biggest disappointment is their lack of selection. They display approximately 12 of their flavors and the rest are kept in the back. I am not convinced they even carry 31 flavors. What a disappointment :( How can you be Baskin Robbins 31 flavors with only 22??? Waaah! NOT FAIR! Service is good. The staff has always been pleasant although nothing extraordinary. I really liked the fact that they did not eat spam musubis while decorating their ice cream cakes (see my review of the Kapolei store). The interior is tiny (likely why they can't display all of their ice cream) and kind of old and dilapidated. Kinda sad. The location is convenient (in the Moanalua Shopping Center). The bottom line...if you want Baskin Robbins' ice cream and you are in the area then this is the place to go. It's actually your only choice since I am not sure where the next closest store is. Just make sure you have a backup choice in case they don't have your favorite flavor. They didn't have mine and I almost cried :( read more
