Look, I appreciate a greasy spoon joint as much as the next white southern male over 200 pounds, but I just can't get behind this place. The tables felt greasy, which is normally a good sign for a place like this, but the food was just below mediocre. My wife and I both ordered sandwiches (one burger and one that was so far from memorable that I can't recall what it was) and fries, and neither of us really wanted to finish any of it. The batter fries sounds life-changing, but were just logs of potato that had been fried. Perhaps I just don't get the simplicity here, but a KFC potato wedge is just about the same, and I certainly wouldn't tout them as a reason to go eat at KFC. The service wasn't as nice as we had expected either. Most of these little places thrive on being polite to customers, but apart from taking our orders the two folks working seemed far too buy talking to the one other customer, who was clearly a regular, so even when we attempted to engage them in conversation we just didn't get much response. I love the Basket Shack. I've gone there since I was a kid. I used to work at the Napa that was next to it, so I had burgers all the time. I used to just sit down and they knew what to bring me. They'd ask how my family was doing and what the new gossip was. I'd always get an ear-full about one cousin or the other. Deliciously greasy food and humongous beer-battered fries. That was before 2011. Now, the food has changed. Different owners and staff, still as nice as can be but something's just...off. The burgers had obviously been cooked before we got there and sat in a dish on the stove to keep them warm. Easy to spot when the food comes out in 5 minutes. Old school, mom and pop restaurant with amazing flavor! Such simplicity as a burger cooked so well to bring out such delicious taste. First restaurant that I've seen to serve 'Battered French Fries', at first I'm thinking, "as if French Fries weren't already unhealthy enough!?!" But, I had to try them because I wasn't sure I'd ever come across such a thing again. They are fantastic! They cut fresh potatoes from local farmers (along with other various veggies for other menu items, which I find incredible having a town that supports each other.) to make their thick cut fries. The batter is not too thick so it is not overwhelming, just enough to add a crunch to your fries. Honestly I would like to try smaller fries but the bigger the fry the less surface area exposed to batter and oil so technically in a matter of speaking "healthier" but still none the less delicious!!! I got a Super Burger and it lived up to it's name, it was super! Topped with the usual ketchup, mustard, some onion and a delicious glob of chili (hormel from what I could tell.) added some mayo to the mix and I was downing it in no time. If I am ever in Canton, GA near here again, I will most definitely eat at Basket Shack! read more

YUM! The burger deserves five stars seriously! The bun is soft with perfectly seasoned and seared beef. They cooked it perfectly. I added bacon and cheese and the bacon was cooked to perfection. Your whole meal is made before you when you order. I talked to Judy at the counter while I waited on my food which was to go! She was truly awesome. Great conversation and before I knew it my bag was in my hands and out the door I went. I tried the battered fries and they were good but some of them weren't cooked through. That's the only reason for the four stars not five. If you've read any of my posts you know how much I love fries. These were battered in flour and deep fried which made little crispies at the bottom of container. Those were yummy. I am excited yet a little concerned that my new office is less than two miles away. I could see myself eating here 2-3 times a week. Can we say self control? I'll work on that! A week later now with an edited review I have found myself here every day for breakfast. The Basket Shack is a guilty pleasure of mine, service is always outstanding, and it is one of those places where everybody knows everybody else. I could eat here every day of the week. The food at the basket shack is very good. The biscuits cannot be beat. Cat head biscuits are the best, and will more than fill you up. The county ham and fried egg is my favorite, and is only about 3.00. You cannot eat at home for that. The fried chicken for lunch is also awesome. Always juicy and tender, and the burger's are equally as good. The burgers are cooked on the same flat top and tons of bacon, yummy. I have been there at least 100 times, and have never had a bad meal. It is worth the visit. read more

This is the hidden gem of Canton, I've been eating here for many years, the same basic recipe for the oh so delicious burgers they serve is simple, Fresh hand formed burgers always grilled to perfection. I've seen it change owners 3 times and the food remains incredible because they keep it simple and always use the freshest ingredients obtainable. I have never left there hungry, the burger is huge and bursting with flavor. If you like the preformed and frozen burgers ,this is not for you or the person with the not so bright future, when a t shirt intimidates your personality, yep you are out of place and your opinions shoulld not be shared but apparently you have never had real food.
