Quality work, friendly service plus professional and efficient execution would be my summary for Basils Tailor Shop. I dropped a suit coat off for alterations and got it back in just a few days. The alterations were spot on and the jacket was pressed to perfection. I might have been able to pay less (or not) ...but I could not have got better work. Basil the owner was great to deal with and seems like a good dude. I will go back here for additional work. Two thumbs up. read more

I have come about three times to this tailor shop. It's decent. They do a fine job on all types of alterations. I would give it higher marks but I do feel that it's a bit more expensive than another tailor. If you're in the neighborhood and this is the closest one I do recommend. He does a good job. Just be prepared to pay. Does all types of alterations including tapering. read more

I hired Basil to let out the hem of 4 Pottery Barn curtain panels that measured between 82-83 inches to make them longer. He was rude to me during the consultation, expensive for a simple alteration and dry clean (360), late with the work, and screamed at my boyfriend for looking at the panels when he came to pick them up. After all of this, 2 panels were acceptable and the other two were returned to me shorter ( 79.5) than they were when I gave them to him. There were also strange dots on one. I have to toss those. Basil wasted my money and time. read more

I always support local businesses. I move to the area and this is the dry cleaning closer to my house. The owner probably was having a bad day, but his actitud and reaction to my question about prize was incorrect. He did not explain the prize per type of shirt and I had to pay $8 per 6 shirts...it is a shame...next read more

They do exactly what they say they're going to do with a quickness. I mainly go for my suit jackets alterations.

I needed a rush to alter my gown and my daughter's for my son's wedding and he came through and saved the day. He did a great job. Very professional. Thanks! read more

I only wear bespoke tailor made suits, it's the tools of my job I have to look good, nothing beats a first impression. I have lived all over the world and had suits made in Hong Kong, Singapore, New York and Chicago and none were of the quality and fit of what Basil's tailorshop produced. When my tailor in Chicago passed away, I went on a search and was ready to try another tailor in Chicago or go to New York but I am so glad I didn't and tried Basil instead. Service impeccable, friendly and not the arrogance you get from others in this trade, advise and a smile what else do you want? I will return many times to Basil's tailor shop and buy more suits and jackets as I need them, I recommend anyone who wants a true bespoke tailor made suit to do the same. Don't expect rush turn around this will take some weeks, don't expect cheap a bespoke suit sets you back between 1500 and 2000 no matter where you go but you get true quality and impeccable fit read more

The owner is plain rude and unprofessional when I asked him if he would wear the shabby work he did for me or even would allow anyone to walk out of his store with such bad work for merely putting a patch to my jeans. He screamed in my face and was so loud and rude. never ever ever will I step a foot in this store. read more

Great shop for suit altering and best dry cleaning shirts never lose shape on collar like at other shops. Love Basil

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Basil is extremely rude and unprofessional. I came into his shop and I asked him to fix a dress I would wear to my daughters wedding. The first day i got there, he had some sarcastic attitude and I let it slide because I needed his help. I dropped off the dress and ended up paying $150 to shorten it, which was half the price that he charged me. Good work calls for good money, right? Well I came into his shop ONE MONTH later. He had made the dress too small, the sides were folded obviously and I had asked him to even out the slits on the top and nothing was done. Not only that, but as soon as I walked into the store, he told me "try this on , I have to leave by 2." He could've called and told me to come in earlier. He has my number. But instead he chose not to. He chose to skip out on his PAYING client. I had to go back a couple days later to try on the dress again. Guess what?! He still didn't have the slit sewn. He messed up a string with the beading on my dress. I asked him to fix it, and he called me an impertinent asshole because of something he messed up. He proceeds to snatch my dress (probably ruining it some more) and began to curse and one thing I remember specifically that he said was "Fuck the bitch that put you on this Earth." If that's the way you want to be treated, please keep going to his shop. But I promise you , you can find someone who Actually cares for what you need. Btw I have a video to prove all of this. I just can't post it here. read more

Brought in 2 shirts to put some small patches on and ended up paying $70. Super overpriced, go anywhere else.

I took my pants to get a simple hem and was done wrong and overcharged. then overcharged again to have same hem redone, and still not correctly. i payed but simply will use another tailor. read more

Basil is by far the best Tailor i've ever used, i live in Brickell and i'm willing to travel 45 mns to go to his shop. The only downside is the price, he is a little expensive. You do get quality service for your buck, but I feel like you also pay for his great sense of humour and how welcome he makes each customer feel read more

Had to get my tux done in a rush for my wedding. I had already had alterations to the tux but they were awful. Basil did it quickly, for a reasonable price and it looked excellent. I'd recommend him to anyone. read more

I have used Basil's Tailor shop a few times for minor alterations and have always found the owner (Basil) to be a tad prickly but professional. I recently brought in a new (with tags still on) FreePeople blouse and asked if the keyhole in it could be closed, he said yes and showed me what he would have to do to complete the task. I agreed. When I picked it up I was not pleased with the poor workmanship and I showed him where the issues were. He told me to leave it and he would fix it. I explained that I was not close by and didn't want to have to come back again and he took the blouse and tried to fix it right there. More pressing was involved which was damaging the fabric. I mentioned this and showed him other places on the blouse where his workmanship was poor. He became quite hostile and said to me, "I knew you weren't going to be happy with it when you dropped it off". Due to the derogatory comment and the other employees snickering, I wasn't sure what other attacks on my character I could expect so I felt it best to just leave. I will chalk this up to a $120 loss and a lesson learned. He did offer to rip out all of his work and not charge me for it but I feared that would damage the blouse even further. There are other Tailors in town folks, do not subject yourselves to the lack of customer service and attacks on your character that you will find here at Basil's Tailor Shop. read more

The worst possible service I've ever experienced in my entire life. I left a jacket to have the sleeves altered and when I picked it up I discovered a hole had been cut into one of the sleeves. When I took it back the owner immediately starting yelling at me and cursing at me calling me a liar and told me to f__k off. He actually used the "F" word several times. Needless to say I was in complete and utter shock. He was out of control and yelling at me in front of his employees and another customer in the store. I have since learned that this is his MO and never takes any responsibility for bad work. I would stay the hell away from this shop. read more

Great tailor. He has great recommendations for what is needed, the work is excellent and he is a pleasure to deal with.

Meredith J. is right. The man that attended us was not welcoming. I.e., when I entered the store, I observed that he was slouched/reclined on the countertop. He remained there during our conversation. For that he came across as lazy & unprofessional. He was rude, demeaning, condescending, & didn't take the time to explain nicely what he could do for us. He treated us as if we didn't have the money to pay for his services. In summary, he showed us with his conduct that he was amateurish. read more

This is a great place to go if you want to get completely ripped off. Very overpriced and terrible customer service. Go elsewhere.

Basil's recently altered my husband's suit. My husband had lost about 100 lbs and the suit needed massive alteration, jacket and pants. While it wasn't cheap, when I considered the time involved to do the alterations, it was a realistic charge. If you don't know how to sew, you can't know the hours involved to fix a garment, and tailoring is a specialty. I also had a few dusters converted to short jackets and they did an excellent job. I went back a few days later to add pockets with the leftover scraps. I recommend this business. They were very professional and faster than I could have hoped! read more

Best tailor shop in Miami. Basil is a true tailor who understands garments and how they should fit if you want to be distinctive and debonair. His prices are very reasonable for the high quality service that he provides. He truly cares about customer satisfaction. Don't listen to people who expect the waist of a jacket taken in for $15. Basil is the best around. If you want quality work you can trust Basil for all your needs. read more

Good clothing will cover, but the best clothing will also reveal. The many articles of clothing I've had made by Basil's Tailor Shop, in addition to feeling comfortable and fitting well, also convey integrity and reflect my personal identity. We never get a second chance to make a first impression so I try and make mine as close to perfect as possible. Although this results in an almost impossible standard for clothing, Basil's expertise has somehow always been able to meet and even exceed that measure; I honestly don't know how he does it. Part of the answer is Basil's lovely wife Joy who works with him; I have relied on her numerous times and never have I been disappointed. The clothing they alter or create is always of the highest quality and wearing the best encourages us to be our best. A good tailor shop can alter your clothes; Basil's Tailor Shop can alter your life. read more

I had a very bad experience and I will not waste my time here again. I found his info on google and decided to give him a try. He seems to be a very nice guy; However, I needed an alteration on a suit, jacket and pants, within 2 days. He delivered on time, but the jacket seemed just as big as it was before and the pants were just as bad. As a matter of fact, people at the event were even telling me "whoever tailored your suit did a bad job." TO TOP IT OFF - The price of the alteration was over $100!! I would not recommend to anyone. read more
