This past weekend I was trying on the dress I got for my best friend's welcome party for her destination wedding. The zipper got stuck, then it broke, and my panic for having a new dress for this occasion in under a week set in. I used Yelp assistant to put in a request to local alterations spots and let them know I had a broken zipper off the track of a formal dress and I needed it fixed before Tuesday. This request was sent on a Saturday afternoon, so to be honest I was not very hopeful of any replies but Carolina replied right away. Her studio is right by my apartment so she told me to take my dress in right then to see if it could be fixed. She fixed the zipper on the spot, and when we actually tried on the dress we realized that I did not fit. Welcome to my nightmare. She had the brilliant idea to alter the dress and add fabric on the sides to give me the inches I needed. The result is essentially a custom dress that I am obsessed with, and at a great price. I am definitely going to keep Carolina on speed dial for any of my alterations needs as she is super sweet, detail oriented, and very well priced. Her studio is located in a blue building on Mediera and there is street parking right in front. Thank goodness for both request a quote and Carolina for saving my dress fiasco.

There are times that things don't go well but how the business owner handles the situation is very important. He really was very nice and really wanted to make things right so I will return and give them another try. I went to get a couple of pants to have the hem taken, I selected this place because of its high review, boy was I disappointed. I went in and was told it would take two weeks and if I was fine with that I could take a sit. I sat down said hello to who I presume is Huma and waited as she worked on a dress. This man walks in wanting his pants hemmed, she talks to him, he puts on the pants and she proceeds to mark the pants and tells them it will be done in a week. She then proceeded to continue to work on the dress and ignored me. I walked away.

Juliet was truly the Fairy Godmother of my wedding in helping to adjust my first dance dress…read moreliterally 5 days before the wedding. She has all my respect for her excellent craftsmanship and words cannot describe how thankful I am to have found her. Not to mention she is a complete joy of a human being. Oh, and her husband (who runs the shop with her) is not too shabby either. I had to get a first dance dress super last minute and it came in the mail extremely ill-fitting on the top even though I had given the company my exact measurements. Basically, I could not wear it. I was contemplating going to a bridal shop and getting fitted for another dress when we ended up with Juliet and she promised she could help us. She was very speedy and our visit was quick and efficient. The day before my wedding, she presented to me a dress that looked like I had it custom made. It was exactly how I envisioned and perhaps even better. And just so everyone knows, she used to work for Chanel and continues to custom design and hand make wedding dresses. So all the soon-to-be-brides out there take note and pay her a visit if you are considering a customized dress!!!
