Went back and the fish dish that I loved so much was so greasy I couldn't eat all of it. The portion that I did eat made my stomach upset.

This review is for takeout only. I have not had a dine in experience. Husband was near this restaurant and asked me to order online to go. Ordered 4 dishes and added a side serving of brown rice , extra charge of $2.50. When my husband arrived 20 minutes later( time quoted online) they had no knowledge of our order, even though I received an email confirmation and they billed my CC. He waited another 25 minutes. He asked for chili paste and response was " it's in the bag". When he arrived home, one tiny chili paste, no brown rice, no napkins, no utensils. Take home message, open the three knotted bag and dig through everything to ensure it is accurate and ask them to bag again. Before tip this was a $76 order. read more

We ordered some entrees to go- all were delicious and fresh tasting. We enjoyed the curry, chicken cashew, and vegetable pad Thai. Even the rice was tasty and fluffy! I especially liked that the restaurant called to tell me that the order would take longer than stated on the online ordering form because of a high volume of orders. Very considerate! The restaurant cafe also has a great location for the Cove in La Quinta, where you can walk off your meal at the La Quinta Civil Center or Library Park across the street. Good food, we got the chicken satay, chicken yellow curry and Tom yum. Nice interior too. I wish there were more servers though.

Food was pretty good but it took an hour and a half to receive the egg rolls ordered. Reservations at 5:45, we asked if everything was ok and maybe just take it to go or cancel the order but at 7:15 they mentioned they were super busy and the food would be right out. I wonder if they forgot our table. No water or drinks were refilled. Oh at the end of dinner at 8:00 they threw in a dessert (I guess thank you?!?) at that point we were all ready to go, it was not enjoyable. Not my first pick to go back to. Don't let the location fool you. The food is really good. They listen to your suggestions of how you want your food done. We happen to like our food spicy. We love the orange chicken especially we like Thai hot on everything. I recommend coming in early as it's a small place and yes, they do serve alcohol if you're so inclined. Great addition to the La Quinta dining scene. Was thrilled to hear the people from Le Basil were opening a restaurant right up the street, it took awhile to open, but the wait was well worth it. Small restaurant next to one of our favorite Mexican Places, Las Arcos, in a strip mall but the space is very comfortable. The food is fresh and very well prepared and service friendly and even though they are still working out the kinks, they could not be more friendly. Definitely a little higher end the the other local Thai Choices in La Quinta/Indio and also some very tasty Vietnamese dishes on the menu. I think Basil Thai will become neighborhood staple- especially if you like fresh authentic Thai Food - try it you will love it! read more

Used online ordering on a Saturday. Submitted order at 4:23PM for a 6:45PM pickup. Arrived at restaurant at 6:42PM for pickup. Was told it would be ready in 15 minutes and that they were running a little behind. Finally at 7:47PM order was ready. I would have cancelled it but they already had charged my credit card. Ok they are new (though they already operate another restaurant), so I will give some benefit of the doubt. Hopefully, I will get the food home and it will be awesome. Unfortunately not the case. Spring rolls were thrown together so much that they fell apart as we unwrapped them. The Panang Curry was boring. The Chili & Basil Beef was bland. The Pad Thai was pretty good. I went here with high expectations due to people raving about this place on Nextdoor and other websites. "The food is super good! Their portions are generous!" Those people tricked me about some Chinese place, and now they did it again. Teaches me to listen to randos who haven't yet been exposed to good ethnic cooking/who aren't foodies. In any case, I tried a number of things there which I would rate as okay/not bad. Had two of their curries, the yellow and Panang. Had a chicken satay, pad Thai, som Tam, Thai iced tea, and mango with sticky rice. Out of everything, the pad Thai was probably the best thing dish-wise. The Thai iced tea and mango with sticky rice were decent but the serving size on the tea was pretty small, and they put waaaay too much ice. The Thai chili given to add spice was just some generic Asian red chili sauce, not the normal sliced Thai chili jaew sauce one would normally get. Though that wasn't that big of a deal. Regarding the generous portion size people spoke about, I would call the portion size of the food as average. The biggest sticker shock are the prices for what you get. $5 for a small Thai tea with a lot of ice? Come on. The other dishes were something like $19 per, etc. I think my total bill with tip was something like $150. I think the best Thai food restaurants I've had were in large metropolitan areas, but the best bang for your buck in the La Quinta area is probably My Thai. read more

Came on a night it was slammed and only 1 server but she's amazing and could throw tigers if she had to. Super sweet. Loved it all. My only reservation was the smell. Finally, an authentic Thai restaurant in La Quinta! We saw news about this opening up recently and we live nearby - finally got to eat here on the weekend. I'm surprised that someone in a prior review found My Thai better - that place is like bad 'fast foot' type Thai (with bad service). But I'm not here to talk about competitors. I'm here to talk about a fabulous new restaurant in LQ - in the cove/old town area. Basil Thai! It sits between a Chinese and Mexican restaurant in a small space. I think it has a total of 4 or 5 booths and 4 bar stools to sit in. Framed photograph/posters are mounted along the walls depicting scenes from Thailand. I've never been, but my partner had and loved the atmosphere. Fixtures are new. Business was super slow and the place had one server and at least one person cooking, so we were surprised at how fast the food came out after ordering. We order the basic Pad Thai and Panang Curry with chicken. We also had a cup of Tom Ka Kai. Later the server brought out some sauces (one home made) to add, after my partner asked for it. The home made one was HOT but very yummy. Actually, ALL the dishes were delicious and my partner's quest for the taste of Thailand as she had it in Chang Mai years ago, was fulfilled. Both of us were really happy we ate here. We ordered from the lunch menu which is cheaper than the regular menu. (Lunch average cost was $13.99 a dish) Portion size is about what we expected. Not too big, but not too small either. We still ended up being stuffed. Rice will do that to you. I love the location and hope they become busy enough to stay there. We plan to visit at least once a month as a treat to ourselves and slowly eat our way through the entire menu. read more
