I had this place flagged since they opened and was anxiously waiting to check them out. We went on a Thrs night to celebrate my Bday and had the most delicious, fresh and presentable mediterranean dishes!! Their ingredient combinations and portions were perfect! We wiped the plates clean! The interior decor is absolutely adorable with different backgrounds for the perfect photo! Matan (the Manager) saw us taking pictures so he turned on the wall lights for an even better background!!!! How attentive is he??!! Can we just talk about the DJ and overall service for a minute???? The DJ was a blast! He chose the best beats that made you wanna get up and dance! I cannot say enough good things about them! Service was impeccable!! Every detail of our table was taken care of by Matan. He was attentive, funny and had the best recommendations for their coctails and entrees! Btw their coctails deserve it's own highlight too with 5+ stars!!!!! We had such a blast & are planning our next dinner there!!! The food was okay compared to how it was last year in 2023. The options were better and the environment/entertainment was better as well. If you are not kosher this might not be the place for you. Since they've converted to a kosher restaurant the food options are very little and very pricey. The service is good but if you are not kosher I really don't recommend this place for you. read more

To start off, service was great. Our server was very kind and attentive. I was a little disappointed by their new menu and new restaurant concept. We were not allowed to cut a cake we brought because it was not kosher. They removed a lot of staple items I used to love like the biscoff cheesecake, Challa bread, Nutella cheesecake. There weren't any belly dancers and we were there from 7:45-10. Also no DJ. I believe it is Israeli owned now. It used to have a lot more of an authentic Arab/Moroccan feel to it. read more

Stay away!!!!!!!! We went with a big group for dinner. After exactly two hours they asked us to pay our bill and get off the table. Then the bill came and OMG!!! Talk about overpriced for BS. They also went ahead and added a 22% gratuity automatically to the bill. But of course didn't make it known when people started handing over their credit cards. Besides there ambiance and loud music which is a positive... as I am writing this review I am suffering from extreme stomach pain and so is my party that I dined with. The food was not the best quality, and for the price I expected WAY more. Service was not poor, but asking for a simple seat switch request from from the patio to indoor became a struggle. I personally would rate environment and vibe: 8/10 But the food and the result was a 2/10! The vibe here is one of a kind from the music to the creative cocktails and food to the aesthetics of the restaurant. We've ordered some of their most popular dishes and found them to be so innovative and flavorful. The salad was refreshing, the cauliflowers were sweet and savory at the same time, and the short ribs were so tender and came right off the bone. But for me what makes the restaurant go that extra mile is the service. My water was never empty, food came out on time, waiters came to check up often, and the managers were attentive. I'll definitely be back! I'm thinking about doing a dinner with friends or a bday event here! This was a waste of my time!! Let's start with the hookah! Definitely was electric and the taste was disrespectful. The flavor that I picked was nowhere near what I requested. Do not believe the hype You can tell how the restaurant is going to be when you first check in for your reservations. We had a party of 3 on a Friday night at 7:30. As I was early I asked if it was ok to go to the bar. Mind you there was 5-8 customers in the whole restaurant and I was told by the host/security whatever he is no I cannot. So I walked away to make a call. First off that was a bad call if a paying customer was going to have a couple of drinks. That set the mood for the night. Our party was seated and proceeded to order drinks & appetizers. As we were in deep conversation the wait staff would constant interrupt. Mind you the staff is very young and needs to be trained more on dealing with clients. Our appetizers and drinks were cleared away by staff even if we were not finished. We ordered our entrees and the way the food came out all at different times was not standard restaurant operations. Once again we had staff coming back and clearing food before we were even finished. By the time we finished we were over the service. We had to wait forever to get our bill. We paid $600 for mediocre food and lack luster service. Overall: Service - 1 Quality of food- 3 Ambience - 3 Price - 2 Overall there are much better restaurants on 3rd street that you can go to with better service and quality. Was planning a party with about 50-55 people, they told me i can't have it in the main room. Went looking at other places and as soon as they knew i was interested in other places, they offered me have my party in a Thursday night. After 1 week of going back and forth and about to go in and sign contract, owners back out 1 week prior to my party and pressuring me to have it on another night where they don't make much business on. At this point, I had already invited everyone and they messed it up and stressed me out. Thankfully I was able to secure a place better, more affordable, more fun and way nicer owner just down the block. When i told her I was looking into other restaurants, Sigal started bad mouthing the restaurants I was interested in and still trying to convince me to do it on a Wednesday instead of Thursday. In the end, it was a blessing in disguise. But want everyone to be aware of their shadiness and unprofessionalism. They've been open for 2 months, and they think they are above everyone else. I will attach my text messages here to prove they told me i was able to have 50-55 and they even reserved a table for 67 through OpenTable! She then went back in her word and said I never said such a thing! Not good business morals. I would stay clear of a restaurant that doesn't follow through with their words. Sigal and Tsahi: You made this experience stressful and knew I was in a bind and you tried to change everything on me to your benefit. Next time don't confirm something you're not able to produce. Right when I walked in the ambiance is amazing; there's flowers on the ceiling and really good music. The DJ is awesome and there's even a drummer or Thursdays and Saturdays! My wife, my cousin and I went to Basbussa on a Saturday night. We had a 7:00 reservation and the place was empty. By the time we left at 8:30, it was packed and hopping, subdued lighting and music (a bit loud for our tastes). They waitress told us that business has really picked up since they became kosher (RCC) 3 weeks ago. The place was beautiful, elegant, and almost futuristic, with red neon lights, table surrounding a sizable bar. I had the short rib tacos (3 of them), slightly cooked yet soft corn tortillas overflowing with beef. The green tomatillos salsa served on the side was spicy and very tasty. My cousin had the schnitzel with yummy fries and harissa aioli. My wife ordered the mango kani roll with cooked salmon (her preference; it usually isn't cooked). She wasn't thrilled with it, and our server insisted she get another dish which would be to her liking. Classy. My wife then ordered the grilled salmon tacos, which she liked much more. read more

Mid AF / wanna be Arab lounge I flew out to LA for my birthday and decided to go to Basbussa. I wanted a nice Mediterranean restaurant with hookah and halal food. I called before arrival and asked if they serve halal and they said "yes of course!" Only to find out when I get there that it's kosher (which is NOT the same thing). So we were forced to eat only the sushi which was absolutely disgusting. Walmart has better sushi. So we carry on and request the hookah which was $100. It's electric so really you're paying for an oversized vape... and it died out within a few puffs. The music was all Arabic music converted into Hebrew which was a spit to the face. This place was wannabe Arab and it's so damn sad. Get your own culture and leave our music and food alone. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. And it's overpriced for no reason bc all the plates went back untouched. read more

Two big issues they send one of our dishes to a wrong table and didn't realize until we said something another big issue was they completely forgot about one of our sushi rolls and it came right after we ate everything which was an hour and a half after. Staff is very nice and friendly. Valet and street/metered parking available. Food is decent and tapas style but a bit pricey fro what you get. The type of place you go for their ambiance and entertainment. If you are going for entertainment (belly dancers), make sure it is going on the night you have reservations. Reservations are recommended since it can get very busy. My recommendations are to get the cauliflower appetizer and stay away from the dessert item named after the restaurant (basbussa). read more

An embarrassment of an establishment. Spent over $1000 and had the worst experience. We called out the owner for watering down the bottle of vodka that we ordered (for $350) which was proven to be true by multiple people. And he got into my friends face and almost hit her then proceeded to attempt to kick us out for having a simple conversation. Negative zero customer service and near abusive to a table of seven customers. Traumatized by this experience and how the owner treated me and my friends, got in my friends face and almost hit her. I'm surprised this place is still in business due to the horrible service and lack of accountability. One of the sparklers hit my friend's eye and I was disgusted how the manager laughed and it said it's not possible for it to happen despite seeing my friend in pain and her eye red and irritated. As far as food goes: cauliflower: this is a MUST, it's friend cauliflower and it is so so so good!
