Service was great; servers were on top of their game, the food came out fresh and never had to ask for a single thing because they kept checking in.

We started with the San Diego Bluefin Tuna Tartare, which had an incredible burst of flavors. Then we had the Moroccan bread, which was fresh, warm, and delicious. Next came the Japanese sweet potatoes, and they were so good I honestly couldn't stop eating them. We also had the Red Snapper Schnitzel, which was probably one of the best fish dishes I've ever had. We finished with the Hanger Steak Kebab, which was really good as well. Overall, we had a great experience. Carmel is definitely becoming a new favorite spot for my wife and me, and we'll absolutely be back. Next time, we're definitely trying the kosher steak! Highly recommend making a reservation, especially on the weekends because it gets very busy. Amazing food, great vibes, and definitely a place we'll be coming back to!

Food: 3.5 stars Ambiance: 3.5 stars…read more Service: 1.5 stars I have now been to this place twice. I was excited to share the experience with my friends, as I recalled it being good when it first opened; so it was definitely repeatable. However this second trip was -- insulting. It looked like a place run by kids in their 20s, with no customer service experience, and unregulated emotions. So let's start with the main star-- the food! With a number of options, it was hard to narrow down what we wanted. But finally, we made our choices between the small plates, shareables, and mains. To our disappointment, they were out of the branzino- fine. We understand. We replanned what we wanted (you have to put your whole order in at one time). Then we decided to get a number of additional small plates-- and wanted wings. Guess what? Womp womp-- after our server informed us the Branzino was out, she moved on to attend other tables. During that time, they ran out of the wings. No problem! We decided to just get the chicken. The Blue Fin Carpaccio The Octopus The Grandmas Cigars The Crispy Tuna 2 orders of the Chicken Jidori 4 glasses of wine for the table This is everything we went with. The wine was excellent. The Blue Fin Carpaccio with Challah - Good, but the Challah was not grilled, instead burnt The Octopus - some of the best I've had, exceptional The Grandma Cigars- underwhelming The Crispy Tuna - salty & nothing outstanding The Chicken Jidori - very good Now here's the problem. When we asked the server to if we could get another challah, she was annoyed. She then brought out another piece, this time much smaller, less fluffy, and entirely dry, and said-- "it wasn't burnt, they grill it". Then I started to explain, well the last one, the taste was burnt and the edges-- but before I could finish, she said, "I'm gonna walk away now". To our shock, she left mid-sentence. This could've been a kitchen issue and not her issue-- but with the way she handled the service, it was absolutely insulting. I asked for the manager, who simply changed our server. Made no additional amends (but she did fix our wobbly table). There was no concession, or enjoy xyz on the house, or remorse. I suspect if she was a friend of the servers that was a host, and not the manager. As she didn't handle the situation like an established and competent manager. In the end, it may have been an off night for the kitchen and the staff-- perhaps the manager went to enjoy the World Cup watch parties and left the restaurant in hands that just couldn't match the demands of the evening. It was a Sunday night, and the vibe was on, with a filled restaurant. I enjoy the space, but I can't say I'd be delighted to experience what I had, not from a food or wine standpoint, but pure service. After $400- I expect better service. I get treated better at Sweetgreens, and that only costs me $25.

Also, I think that was the best pita bread I've ever had, period. We also tried the borekas, and they were perfect little bites to begin. We were celebrating my co-worker/mentee's birthday, and they brought her a yummy birthday dessert as well. And we split a great bottle of wine. Mazal is an unsuspecting beautiful experience. We found street parking but we couldn't find the actual restaurant because I just assumed the building was an apartment building. Once we finally walked through the door, inside is so lovely. I LOVE their bar countertop. We sat outside which has great vibes for summer. Cute lighting, all the works. I want to sincerely thank them for a wonderful birthday dinner for my friend. And for the superior service we received. Very warm and inviting. I can't hype up the service here enough. And we accidentally stayed significantly after closing without realizing it because we were tucked in a corner and lost in our conversation so we didn't even see the time, but we were never rushed out the door (to other diners - please do not be like us, I am so sorry we stayed so late without realizing the restaurant had closed, *yes there was another straggling table next to us who were still there as well so that's why we didn't realize the time*) again, so sorry, and thank you for being so accommodating still!

The service was top notch - attentive, friendly, & quick - all without being around too much. The potato bourekas were little puffs of heaven. The pita was so beautifully fluffy (I didn't even know it could *be* like that!!!), and the vegan labneh plate is last-meal-on-earth-worthy. I still daydream about it, & it's already been 9 days since my visit!

Street parking only, which can be kinda tough in this neighborhood. What we tried: - Baby gem lettuce caesar - with parmigiana, garlic bread crumbs, chives. It was perfectly seasoned and dressed and with a perfectly cheesy topping! A simple dish but executed so well - Prosciutto pizza - with mozzarella, prosciutto, stracciatella, arugula, truffle oil. Perfection! I love proscuitto pizza and the truffle oil was the cherry on top. The dough was so chewy too! - Frutti di mare pasta - homemade squid ink tagliatelle, tiger prawns, calamari, mussels, Mariana. A great and flavorful marinara seafood pasta! A large portion size suitable for sharing as well

The crust was crisp, and the thinly sliced potatoes were seasoned right and savory and comforting. THe risotto al funghi was creamy and rich and a bit on the saltier side, but I loved the earthy mushroom flavor, which complemented the pizza dish well. Welcome atmosphere and dishes with great flavors!

We paid $68 for two salads and an order of fries, which felt overpriced for the quality and portions. What really stood out, however, was the customer service. I visited with my mother and my toddler son. Since my son wasn't going to eat fried food, I bought him a fruit smoothie from a neighboring business. While we were already in line paying for our order, the owner or manager approached us and informed us that outside food and drinks were not allowed because the restaurant is kosher. Although he said he would make an exception this one time, he approached us again while we were waiting outside for our food. We had chosen to sit outside because the restaurant was crowded, loud, and stuffy inside. Despite us not causing any issues, he again insisted that the smoothie could not be on the premises and began explaining that his license could be suspended due to association rules. We politely told him it wasn't a problem and decided to take our food to go. I understand businesses have policies, but the way the situation was handled felt unnecessarily confrontational, especially considering the drink was for a toddler and we had already spent nearly $70 at the restaurant. Between the mediocre food, high prices, and rude customer service, I would not return. There are plenty of better dining options in the area.

It is Israeli food, but also quite American as well. It has a wonderful Mediterranean flare. All of their food is Kosher, which is always nice and all of it is just great. The menu is not huge, but it does not need to be. They have something for everyone. We love the service. Some of the servers have been there awhile and they know everything and if you are looking for other Kosher places or even a Temple if you are a visitor, they have you covered. The servers are always smiling and are great with kids. It is super family friendly. We love all their food, but a must have is their Matza Ball soup. It is perfection from the soup to the Matza Ball. You can get it in a cup or bowl. We have been here a few times over the years, sometimes for breakfast and other times for lunch. Their Shakshukah is a great way to start your morning. It is a wonderful breakfast item. It comes with eggs and salad with a great home made tomato sauce. They also have just eggs if you want. For lunch we love the Israeli Vegetables Salad, which has Finely cut assorted vegetables with lemon dressing, tomatoes and cucumber. It is the bomb. If you want to be daring, get their combination salad, which is a combination of all their salads. It is so good. Their Humus is great and has a wonderful lemon juice and olive oil. All of their Pita sandwiches are tasty as well. Another favorite is their grilled salmon. It is cooked perfectly and you will love the fresh flavor. There is not one thing not to like here, so go and have fun and relax.
