Okay so 4 stars it is. I really enjoyed this restaurant. The service was great when we got seated. So were the drinks and food. However, I do need to remove 1 star cuz I made reservations on open table. I did read the note to call and confirm the reservation on Thursday's and Saturday's. So I did that and all was confirmed. I didn't think I'd have any issues. When I got to the restaurant they told me they're fully booked and they don't have a table for us. Luckily the owner was so nice he managed to get something for us within 15 minutes. Everything just worked out after that. Thank you basbussa for the great night, it was a lot of fun. If you plan to reserve on Saturday night, I suggest you call the restaurant and NOT, ABSOLUTELY NOT! rely on open table. Your table is not secured through open table :) Cheers yelpers! read more

Do not take the tables by the north of the DJ. They stuck us back there with no action goin on. The dancers also just stop by because they have to pass by. Food is again alright. I love the vibe and dj was amazing he played all the dance music I couldn't sit in my chair danced all night .. omg the food was delicious as well. Meditation and super yummy .. honesty I wish I find this place sooner . They have electronic hooka which is great but I didn't try it so I can't comment on that :) This place is perfect for birthday party and big event as well as if u like to go somewhere to have fun and have the food front of u :) They had bellydancer which I love that too. I only wish they had a dress-code options cuz the crowed was not that good as I hope to see more classier crowed than younger ppl with jeans and t shirt. The food was hit or miss, the music was loud and the prices are insanely expensive. Hard to carry convo with the loud music so definitely don't come here on a first date . The food items I DO RECOMMEND are the spicy chicken tenders and the crispy cauliflower . I would never order any of the sushi or desserts . The desserts were so disappointing and the sushi was not high quality. The waitress recommended the banana s'mores and it sounded amazing but all 8 of us thought it was SO GROSS. I've never had a dessert I disliked as much as the banana s'mores . It tasted like cardboard . The malabi was also not that good. I also disliked the warm artichokes . It was a weird tasting salad and you cannot really tell there was any artichoke in it . The fatush salad was solid though . No complaints there . Found out about this place from Instagram a while ago and decided to celebrate a birthday there with a party of 10ppl, there were a minimum of $100 per person which was fine, we checked out the menu before hands knowing how much the food costs, we knew it was pricey and the food was actually good but over priced for the amount served, which is normal in LA nowadays. Our server was really nice but service in general was a bit on the slow side, took a while for our server to get our drinks order but after that he managed to focus on us more. Classy and elegant crowd and everyone around us had smiles on their faces everyone having a good time, my personal issue was that the music was way too loud. Our table was right under a speaker and we could barley listen or talk to each other, music was great though so good job to the DJ, but way too loud, thats where I noticed that this place is more of a party/dance place rather then a restaurant. There was no dance floor so everyone was dancing at their table making it a bit hard to walk around cause all walking access between tables were blocked and had to say excuse me every time I took a step. Food was ok there was some dishes that were really good and some just ok, no serving spoons or tongs and we ordered a bunch of appetizers so we had to use our own utensils. Drinks were ok there house specialty drinks were good but for margaritas wasn't that good. Valet was available and plenty of street parking so thats not to worry about. Overall okay place for some it might be really good but for me not really but had the chance to try it. read more

This is for a delivery order - I called to confirm and to ask that condiments were put into the order of sushi and cigars. I was told that it couldn't be done - I needed to place a separate order. I explained that 1. The condiments weren't even listed as an extra to buy and 2. I didn't understand why they couldn't put a small extra container of ponzu and salsa, for a fee - I don't care, I just want it. For the prices they're charging - this isn't the kind of conversation I'm going to have again. Lesson learned. Prices - the taco plate was $30 for 3 tacos. Please see the pic of the tacos. There were 3, I ate one and it was disgusting. The Moroccan cigars were also $30 - they tasted like they had been frozen at some point. The sushi $27 for a roll was no better than grocery store sushi. I've heard nice things about the "in person experience" there. I wouldn't go there if you paid me to at this point. The customer service was a joke. Calling a restaurant to ask that your $100+ order of food is done the way you want isn't unreasonable. In summary - if you want kosher food like this, try next door, la gondola or shilohs. The prices are similar and they treat their customers better. read more

My wife and I searched online for a restaurant for my brother in-law's birthday and found Basbussa. Was planing on having a full dinner and drink experience along with the belly dancers for entertainment. First impression, not a lot of people considering it was a little past 9:30 but the place looked nice inside. 1st issue - we ordered beers for the guys, my wife and sister in law had wine and we ordered a shot of 1942 don julio for my brother in law (birthday shot). Fyi we had 7 people. The waiter gets the bottle from the bartender presents the bottle with the spigot and pours out a clear liquid (mind you this is anejo and it's supposed to be slightly yellowish gold). We tell him thats not 1942 in that bottle, the waiter and bartender disagree. We try the drink and it's WATER. We call the waiter back and ask him to try the bottle himself and he does not. So we call the manager over (bald man forgot his name). Manager comes over and confirms the clear liquid is 1942 and argues. So we order a second shot to test. Then we get another bottle with the same white water. This time we make the manager try the drink and he confirms it's water. The same water that they were serving the rest of the customers that night that did not know the difference after several drinks. Finally they pull a bottle from the back and fill my brother in laws cup with 1942. It finally tastes like the real deal. The food - we had a RED FLAG with the drinks so decided to play it safe and just order appetizers. We ordered the cauliflower which was too sweet and tasted like orange chicken, the fatush salad was not fatush and had no lemon flavor or any resemblance to fatush. The atmosphere is perfect if you like loud music and can't hear the person next to you. Followed by obnoxious clapping by the manager who seems to force the rest of his staff to clap as well with a look that would get them in trouble if they didn't agree. We decided to leave the restaurant and asked for the bill. There was no comp by the manager. So I asked him again and let him know that they served us water as drinks 2 times and wanted us to pay 56 dollars a shot. Mind you the bill was $198. He refused to comp just the drink as a normal restaurant would do for a mistake. We didn't want to cause any issues so we paid and let them know that we would be reporting the restaurant. PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE!! It's a failing business with extremely bad management and overpriced food and drinks. The pictures online look great but man was this the worst night because of bad service. This place is by far one of the worst I've been to in LA. The place does a great job hyping it self up as a trendy place, but the vibe is horrible. We were a table of 6 people and ordered pretty much the whole menu, expecting a great experience. I'm telling you- NOTHING was good, everything was mediocre and below. Service is bad, the rush you, barely pay attention to you, the place is so loud, blasted the AC and the music, and not in a good way. I must say the biggest disappointment was the food, but also the fact that people there not very nice, including the staff, they act like they're there to have fun themselves, not to serve their guests. Such a shame. Also- $100 hookah?! Who are you to charge that much?! It's not even showing on the menu, only after you order it.. they also make you pay for that separately so it's very awkward having to pay while you eat.. The bill came- very much overpriced, then they added tax, AND ON TOP OF THE BILL AND TAX THEY ADDED 22% TIP! THEY DID THAT SO THE TIP GETS CALCULATED OUT OF 10% HIGHER PRICE! Can you believe it?! Outrageous! I would not recommend going there, and I will never step foot in there again. Shame. I was very disappointed. read more

I've been to Basbussa twice now and enjoyed both my experiences. During my most recent visit, I celebrated a friend's birthday. The ambiance and restaurant design is conducive for socializing and having a great time. I loved the live entertainment, which was already a plus in addition to the great food, service, and drinks. I'll definitely be coming back to celebrate more special occasions, milestones, and birthdays. Between my two visits, I've tried a few things on the menu and here are my favorites: -Cauliflower (I love tempura vegetables and the dish pairs really well with labaneh) -Fatush Salad (Salads are typically pretty boring but again the pairing of labaneh really compliments the dishes well) -Tuna Crostini (It's a cool twist on a dish I usually associate with Japanese food but it's done in a unique way at Basbussa. This was also the only dish I took a photo of because I was too busy eating and enjoying the entertainment haha) -Lamb Chops (Meat + Chimichurri, definitely my favorite entree off the Chef's Menu section) read more

Went there for last night for a friend birthday.. food is mediocre and extremely overpriced.. 110 dollars clase Azul gold shot? That's a 280 dollar bottle. Ahhh I love this place! Such a fun atmosphere with yummy food and drinks. They had belly dancers and a live dj when we went. The whole experience was a lot of fun. We got the short rib, Jerusalem bagel, and tuna tartare. It's was all so flavorful!! The tuna tartare was for sure my favorite. We'll definitely be coming back to try more things on the menu!
