In full disclosure these boys were hungry. I probably should have brought them to Five Guys for a double burger as an appetizer. Anyway! We go to bartaco. It starts off great, scan the QR code, menu and ordering are all online. Tacos come out quickly. My son ordered four tacos & I got the pork belly rice now. Here's where they lose points in my opinion. The rice bowl was brown rice, pork belly, and raw red pepper. I omitted the onions. That's it. For $11 I'd like to have something more- I don't know what, but it was like I went through my fridge & threw some leftovers in a bowl. It was fine but I wasn't like "wow, a lot of creative genius went into this meal". Give me some avocado or corn- anything. The boys tacos were better looking. They are very small so please note that you're going to want to order multiple. Final bill for tacos, one rice bowl, and one not great margarita? $85 dollars. This is not my first time going to bartaco. I've visited there locations in Atlanta and Virginia so I expected a better experience. Service - I was dining solo so I grabbed a seat at the bar to grab a quick bite to eat. I understand it's COVID and locations are short staffed, but I had to ask the bartender four times for a glass of water. His service did not get better. Now mind you, he provided water to other customers that sat down after me...smh. Also, I ordered a drink and took forever too. Food - Overall, the food was fine. The chicken soup was very hardy (arrived warm and not hot) and the cucumber salad was flavorful, and for the life of me I can't understand why these two items took almost 30 minutes to arrive. So we have been here sooo many times, especially during covid and the food has ALWAYS been consistently good! No matter what time we went, it was always the same consistent. aND it was Good too! Except today. We didn't have to wait but the food just seemed like it was slapped on the plate. The tortilla in one of tacos broke and I have never had that happen to me before. I normally get the same stuff. The plantains were all mushed together making it super hard to eat. With bits of cilantro in the bowl. It seemed like something else was put in that bowl and than they decided to swap it out last minute. I normally always take pictures of my food but I didn't today because I was like I'm getting the same thing which I always get and the food is still gonna be good. I was sadly mistaken today. Phew. Wow. Yes. Two visits and I'm going to make Bartaco my regular haunt. I'm ditching Firebird, and my old go to Vivace. I'm sorry. But I have to. The drinks...the Old Timer had me humming and feeling very lively. The tacos are bountiful in choice from chorizo, chicken, fish and vegetarian, also pork....whoo. Oh Steak....yes, succulent grilled steak. They are teeny tiny pop one in your mouthful, which is nice if you like cafeteria, tapas style munching. My friends went whole hog on the menu and had plantains too. I decided on sides and was not disappointed. The black beans were seasoned and tasty. The rice was done so nicely...I'm envious....I have never been able to cook rice like that! Mexican street Corn....I buried my face in those cobs and barely spoke to my friends. I'm telling you, the table was dead silent for a hot minute. We came back a week later, to the same fare and yes, consistent, but not so much so that you feel the dining experience is sterile. For the Gluten Free community this restaurant is excellent. More things on the menu are safe than a risk. You order family style and build interesting meals progressively instead of ordering everything at once. I would recommend the duck, pork belly, and cauliflower tacos! The guacamole, plantains, and corn are also phenomenal. Hmm... I'll give it a 3.5/5. I was expecting from the Yelp rating to be wowed. I thought they were average at best. I ordered the salsa roja and the beans as a side. Beans were good. The salsa roja was thicker than a usual salsa. I like chunky salsa, but not really thick. I like lighter salsas. The Baja taco was probably my favorite. Very crispy. My second favorite would probably be the ribeye, and then chicken was last. These tacos were definitely smaller than what I'm used too. Don't let the pictures deceive you. They also utilize an app to order and pay for your meal. Kind of annoying, I see a lot of restaurants turning to this solution. Would I come here again? Probably not... read more

The restaurant is very loud. Having a conversation nearly impossible...perhaps the acoustics or lack there of... We were freezing, they keep it pretty cold to the point of uncomfortable; the seat/tables aren't very comfortable either. We came Sunday afternoon and managed to get seated immediately. The restaurant itself is spacious with a nice patio. The service was great, you order on your phone and paying the tab at the end is real easy. Although, when placing our order, my friend managed to get all their food and finished before I even got any of my main dishes. Now as far as the food goes, the flavor is there, but paying $3-6 per taco for a bite sized taco is crazy to me. I placed my shades right beside the three tacos for size comparison. The ahi rice bowl wasn't bad but I probably would never get it again, I got 4 bite size pieces of ahi tuna and the mixed peppers didn't pair well with it at all. The glazed pork belly had great flavor, definitely had a bit of spice, and I'd choose this over the other. The guacamole wasn't bad. The drinks will be around $13-16 which isn't too bad, it's pretty standard price for this area. Maybe this place was really overhyped and I had high expectations coming in but, I was a bit disappointed. There are local places that'll give you the same flavor profile for larger portions for the same cost. Paying around $80 (including tip) for two and not being as full as we would have liked brings the rating down even more for me. read more

They offer a lot of variety on their menu and have something for the pickiest eater to the most adventurous. You can pretty much pick your meat as far as the tacos and they have something put together for whatever you're craving. I really liked the tanginess of the guacamole and it was so fresh. We had the cocktail with the thyme and it was great. The inside is really neat too and has its own flare. The ordering system is a little frustrating; I wish you could split right down the middle. I don't like the idea of a sit down that makes you pay prior to service. Hopefully this will go away once things are settled down a little more with covid guidelines, though. read more

Visited today, Covid-19 has changed dining out in a bad way and it's just not very enjoyable anymore. We live about an hour from North Hills, this was a destination for us today. We had a short wait to be seated, so we stopped in Anthropologie nearby (read that review, womp womp). When our table was ready, I received a text letting me know. Very short wait, under 15 minutes! We were seated indoors and were surprised by the changes to ordering. No more cool cards to fill out, it's now via a QR code on your phone. You place your order via your phone and they bring it out to your table. Not a big deal, but absolutely very little interaction with humans. And, you pay on your phone and you pay in full, including tip before even getting your beverages. Biggest disappointment was Bartaco has removed shrimp tacos and corn fritters from the menu! What?! Not cool. We asked and were told that the "owner wanted healthier items". Ummmm, you replaced FRIED shrimp and FRIED fritters with FRIED oysters and FRIED plantains. Not making any sense! Ordered a few different items today - tried the cauliflower taco, holy cow, SPICY. Good but very spicy. Tried the lobster taco, hubby loved it. Went for the fried plantains, they were ok. Wouldn't order again. Overall, we still love the flavors here but baffled as to menu changes and miss interacting with the staff, they have always been a nice part of dining here. $57 with tip for lunch. read more

Been wanting to try Bartaco for a while. Weren't sure they were open for dine in or not. A friend and I were wandering around looking for a lunch spot and we were pleasantly surprised that they had indoor seating (it was hot outside). They took my name and cell number and notified me of an available table in about 15-20 min. Of course it's limited seating in the time of COVID. Their ordering process is actually quite genius. They have a QR Code on your numbered table. The link gives you a menu and you choose what you want and load up your cart. Pay with a credit card. In no time, someone will bring your tasty tacos to your table. I had one falafael taco. Delicious !! I was able to get NO cilantro. It had quite a "kick" to it. Can't wait to try that one again. We had some time to wait, so we went to the bar. Fast and friendly, margaritas are good. Ordered a large guacamole and that is where it starts to disappoint. The guacamole is basically avocado with jalapeños slopped in a bowl. We got our table and you have to order everything on line. The 'server comes buy to explain and bring water. That is about it. Someone else bro ha the food, you pay on line In the ap. Call me an old fuddydud, but when I eat out at a sit down restaraunt I don't like being on my phone and I want to be served. The tacos come. Presentation of all the food is just on a small metal tray. Tacos were decent, but I've had better off a food truck. The shrimp tacos were stupid spicy- didn't see that in the description on my phone. Another reason like a real menu. The mushroom, cooked chorizo, and fish tacos good but not exceptional. I'm obsessed in a good way! My family and I have eaten here 3x in 3 days, and we'll be back soon. Some of us are gluten-free and have severe nut allergies, and we can mark that with every item we order. We love every taco we've tried, which is almost all of them. Each is seriously delicious with many layers of flavor and textures. We've enjoyed the green papaya salad, spicy cucumbers, gazpacho (which is a large serving), and the guacamole and chips. We aren't big fans of the chicken soup which oddly had a seafood flavor, but we've gobbled down everything else we've ordered. The non-alcoholic drinks are inventive and delicious, and we've enjoyed desserts too. The chocolate ice cream cone and dulce de leche are delights. Dominic is one of the managers, and his demeanor and service are incredible. We're thrilled we discovered this restaurant, Bar Taco, and we'll be back to try every item on the menu...many times. It was about a rocks throw away from work, so a couple of co-workers decided to get together and have lunch. This place was amazing! We started off we with some apps, including the guac and some plantains. I'm not sure what waw in the sauce besides cilantro and garlic, but Wow! I went with the the Carne Asada bowl. This bowl is a game changer and quite frankly I think i went back for dinner to grab another bowl. Topped it all off with some churros and a nice chocolate dip. Spicy Cucumber salad and an asada rice bowl... how can you go wrong? Oh wait, you can't! This place is in the North Hills shopping center and has a lovely outdoor seating section. I opted for the bar area, since it was just me for lunch. I was immediately greeted by the fantastic bar staff. Since it was my first time, they explained how to order, using their order pads and selecting everything a la carte, just like a sushi place(good thing I'm a fast study, I don't eat sushi!). I perused the menu and found that almost everything on the order card was checked... okay, so I was going to totally over-indulge.... start from scratch.
