I've been to Bar Taco quite a few times but this time I brought my date who had never been before. We decided to go on St Patty's Day so it was a bit wet and rainy but that didn't stop people from being out. Bar Taco wasn't packed but it definitely wasn't empty either. Because of this, we decided to sit at the bar. I'm always intrigued with the ambiance at Bar Taco. To me it gives you a sunny boat like vibe every time (maybe it's me). The bartenders at the bar were extremely nice and easy to talk to also.
To start we both ordered drinks. I had the bartaco margarita ($12.50) which taste like your normal margarita and my date had the an Old Thymer ($12.50) without the orange juice. The bartender made a remix to accommodate her being allergic to oranges. He replaced it with pineapple juice which was extremely considerate of him. Both drinks were good. Mine pretty was your typical margarita that you can find at any happy hour but to see them use fresh fruit did something to my spirit lol. The remix of the old thymer might be better than the original. The pineapple juice brought a sweeter taste which blended well with the alcohol.
For the entree I ordered 2 Chile Lime Shrimp Tacos ($3.50 each), a Spiced Chicken Verde Taco ($2.50 each) and a Chile Lime Shrimp Rice Bowl ($9.50). My date also had the same tacos but 2 of each with street corn in a bowl ($4.75). I also decided to grab some chips and guacamole ($6.00) as a quick appetizer.
I've always been a fan of the guacamole from Bar Taco. It's been my favorite however, even tho it was extremely fresh, it lacked that flavor I'm accustomed to tasting. Maybe there wasn't much seasoning. Either way, I still devoured it. Lol. On a brighter note my tacos were amazing.
First of all, let me just say that this taco is absolutely delicious. The chicken is perfectly cooked and has a nice spicy kick from the chile and herb marinade. The flavors are well balanced and not too overpowering, which is great because you can really taste all of the different ingredients. The aguacate salsa is the perfect accompaniment to the chicken. It has a nice creamy texture and a bright, fresh flavor that pairs perfectly with the spiciness of the chicken. The avocado adds a nice richness to the salsa and helps to cool down the heat from the chile.
The Chile Lime Shrimp Taco is a delicious and refreshing dish that is perfect for seafood lovers. The shrimp are cooked to perfection and have a nice balance of heat and tanginess from the chile and lime marinade. The flavors are well balanced and not too overpowering, allowing you to taste all of the different ingredients. The tortilla is soft and pliable, which makes it easy to wrap around the shrimp and other toppings. The toppings on this taco are also worth mentioning - they add a nice crunch and flavor to the dish. Overall, if you're looking for a tasty and refreshing seafood taco, the Chile lime shrimp taco is definitely worth trying. It's a perfect choice for a summer lunch or dinner, or anytime you're in the mood for a delicious and flavorful taco. While street corn on the cob is a classic and delicious summer treat, having it in a bowl is a game changer. The corn is cut off the cob and mixed with a variety of flavorful ingredients, such as cilantro, lime, chili powder, and cotija cheese. The result is a tasty and satisfying dish that is easy to eat and perfect for sharing. The bowl allows for all of the ingredients to mix together, creating a perfect balance of flavors in every bite. Overall, if you're a fan of street corn, you won't be disappointed with trying it in a bowl - it's a delicious and convenient way to enjoy this classic dish.
Last but not least, if you're looking for a delicious, warm snack to satisfy your sweet tooth, then the churros with chocolate and icing-based dips ( $7.00) are definitely worth trying. These deep-fried pastries are amazing and I'm embarrassed to say that this was my first time having them. They are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with a slightly sweet and doughy flavor. The addition of warm chocolate dip and icing-based dip elevates the flavor even further, creating a decadent and indulgent treat that's perfect for any occasion. The chocolate dip is rich and velvety, with a deep cocoa flavor that complements the sweetness of the churros perfectly. The icing-based dip, on the other hand, adds a different dimension to the flavor, with a creamy and sweet taste that is sure to satisfy even the most discerning sweet tooth.
Overall, if you're looking for a delicious and indulgent snack, churros with chocolate and icing-based dips are definitely worth trying. With their crispy texture and sweet, doughy flavor, they're sure to satisfy even the most demanding sweet tooth.
