I can sum my experience up to bad service and cold food. It took our server 7 minutes to greet us. Out of the 4 things I ordered 75% didn't come and my server didn't notice. I ordered 2 tacos and a side of rice and beans. I received one taco and it was iced cold. I asked for the second taco and it was also ice cold. Always a great experience! I recommend the salsa trio and love that they have a new menu items of the month. Never had a bad meal. The Willoughby location is new, as of last summer and it is always packed when I go there. Even their take out is great! Food is all separately wrapped and individualized. Ordered two of the suggested tacos. They were awesome. The chocolate stout was very tasty as well. The combination of bacon and pickled jalapeño peppers was just right. Having the soft shell around the hardshell made it much easier to eat. read more

I wish i could give more stars , however , the last few times i have ordered take out my orders have been completely wrong . I am highly allergic to shellfish and after the last time ordering two chicken tacos and one beef short rib taco ; i instead received 3 shrimp tacos . Our server was pretty thorough and had a great grasp of the menu. However, the service wasn't the issue, it was the food. The tacos were very cold and the toppings were watery which produced wet tacos. My husband and I tried multiple proteins (steak, shrimp, and chorizo), and the tacos were trash. The steak was overly fatty and chewy and the double taco concept was a lost cause. We did go eat until around 11pm on a Saturday night, but still no excuse for terrible food when that's what you specialize in and the restaurant was packed with people. I have loved Barrio ever since they first opened in Tremont. As a DTW worker and resident I was excited when they opened. They have done a great job at bringing the vibe to DTW. The tacos are spot on, guac is always great, cheese dip is mostly good. Don't always love the variations but thats the fun of trying new ones! Most of the time the service is good. Sometimes I feel like the dude bartenders have somewhere better to be; they could be friendlier (and I say this a longtime bartender/waitress myself). I don't really like dip, but the buffalo flavour dip is very good. It is nice, hot, good quality food and it is great for parties.

Was a huge fan of the other locations and now we have our own in dtw! The prices are good, food is fresh and lots of different options. Green goddess and stoner shells are must haves. I love the margarita with the Chile powder rim. There has been quite a wait to get in even on weeknights, that is the only downside. read more

I've eaten here a few times and it has been awesome every time. I've tried a few different combinations for my tacos and have not been disappointed with any of them. Kate was our server and she was excellent. The guacamole is extra creamy and their queso is so delicious it s hard to stop eating it. Their salsa is fresh and unique not like typical restaurant salsa. The place is always busy so leave a little time if you visit on the weekend to get a table. Decided to check out the new Barrio Location in Willoughby. Overall not a good experience compared to the other locations. A group of 3 arrived around 4:50 pm was told 30-45mins. Not a big deal for the happy hour seating. However the problem was, my group was blatantly skip for some odd reason. Similar groups of three's who walked in well over 20-30 mins after us were seated. Larger groups walked in and were seated as well for both happy hour and regular dining. After an hour and 10 minutes someone finally tries to seat us. At this point we have waited out for ppl to leave the bar to seat ourselves. I don't really know what the deal was or why we weren't seated but it looked as we just didn't exist to the hostesses. Needless to say if I want my barrio fix, I'd probably go to the other locations like I have before. read more

Customizable tacos and specialty queso (along with complementary Chips & Salsa), along with a kitchen that's open late have led to many delicious date nights over the past several months. The Service is fantastic as well, with friendly and knowledgable servers and kitchen staff! Been wanting to try Barrio for while and finally made it in. First off we sat at the bar, and it was extremely loud everywhere inside this place. The music was up too high and of course everyone is screaming trying to talk over it. I get it's a bar but seemed a bit excessive for lunch. The service wasn't great, but it was decent. Although with that being said, luckily the food saved the whole experience. If you're looking for great taco's and drinks then this is a good choice. read more

Well of course I had to try the new Barrio in Willoughby. I've been to the one downtown and loved it. I met some of my girlfriends for happy hour. The restaurant is SO loud you can't even talk across the table let alone to the person next to you. I ordered one of the special tacos and it was just okay. I also ordered one of the small bowls and that was good. Drinks were fine and waitress was good, very attentive. If it weren't for how loud it was I would give it a better rating. Not your typical Mexican restaurant, you will love the decor. Food is generally always amazing. We had lunch at the Willoughby location on 9/2. Love that most items on the menu are Gluten Free. You choose the items you would like on your taco's or in your bowl, my favorite tacos are with the Stoner, which is a hard taco wrapped with a flour taco on the outside, I always get the pulled pork and the toppings I like, always amazing. My only gripe at this location is that you always have to wait for chips and salsa. They did not bring the chips and salsa out until after we submitted our order sheets. which was probably fifteen minutes after we were seated, by the time we ordered our drinks and they were brought, at the other locations the chips are generally brought once you sit down and are deciding on what you would like to order. read more

Extremely disgusted in how the manager acted towards people who were eating at the restaurant close to closing time!!!! We called to make sure they were still serving food, we came, we ordered right away, ate as quick as possible because we knew it was close to closing down, we tipped generous as well and were very polite But what was extremely rude was being started down & talked about by the manager, he shouted throughout the entire restaurant stating "2 mins" basically telling us to get out & from what I saw (might not be 100%) but asked a couple to leave because they were closing down, I'm sorry but I work in a restaurant and we NEVER yell to customers telling them to leave, even if it's 45 mins after we close. The waitress was great 10/10. Was not even able to finish my marg, :/ so unnecessary, there are professional ways to talk to people, if you needed to close early, let us know politely, don't scream across the restaurant like a child and give me dirty looks. read more

Coming from the southwest, my family and I really wanted to find a taco place we could love. Coming to barrio honestly was just a disappointment... the tacos just tasted like taco bell or the taco option from chipotle. The only thing good was just maybe the chips and salsa. Have tried different Barrio locations around Cleveland and when the new location in DTW popped up wasn't really interested. Friend of our wanted to meet there for dinner and figured what the hell... give it another shot. Much to my surprise I could not have had a BETTER experience. The food.... fresh, delicious, hot, and EXACTLY how I ordered it. The restaurant... upbeat but not loud. The service... can't say enough about how amazing and accommodating they were. I've been to Barrio downtown and visit the Willoughby location. The night of our visit Barrio was very busy. At the bar we had the nachos which were served warm in some spots and cold in others. We were seated at the table and my tacos were cold and they should have been hot. The atmosphere is electric and very loud. So loud you have to shout to be heard but the person across from you. We finished our dinner and headed elsewhere in DTW. I expect this location is hot because its new; unless they improve their quality Barrio will not longer be a hot spot. read more

Love barrio and so excited they are open on this side of town. But I have eaten at this location three times. Each time multiple parts of my order has been wrong. I am not sure if this is growing pains or if this will be constant. Also the gauc is not fresh which is such a disappointment.
