A local favorite ! Our go to Mexican spot is the best. Most fresh and authentic. Mikey and his team are fabulous! So friendly and welcoming. The food is always fresh and we never have to wait too long. They keep the restaurant clean and it's beautiful with the new booths and updated authentic decor. Great for large parties, families and has a bar with a seperate room. The covered patio is great for nice nights in the summer and there are so many options on the menu! This is our go-to Mexican place. I am used to amazing Mexican food & missed it when I moved to OH. Don Tequila is the best Mexican in lake county; I did not care for the rest. This location is also my favorite. I am cheap so this can be a little pricey, but also very reasonably priced; worth the money. Amazing staff. I have never had an issue with service; also got exactly what I ordered, speedy service, & wonderful to go here. read more

After enjoying the food at Don Tequila in both Madison and Eastlake for years and years, it is with great sadness that I can no longer recommend at least the Eastlake location. My wife and I recently ordered takeout, she had the Enchiladas Aztecas and I had a Carnitas dinner. Both dinners tasted fine, however within 6 hours we were both violently ill. Since it was the only meal we had eaten together during the day, the culprit was obvious. I've always enjoyed the food at Don Tequila, but when we both become ill after eating there it says something to me about how the food is prepared. Hopefully it was just an isolated incident, but we're not willing to roll the dice again. read more

Pretty darn good simple Mexican restaurant with fantastic prices! I was going to give it 4 stars, but thought, hmmmm, what am I comparing it to that would be better? Is it fair to give it 4? Could it be better? Answer is - it's perfect at what it does. So, 5 it is, and a 5 is what it deserves. The staff was super friendly, the service was pretty spectacular, the drinks and food came out incredibly fast, prices were beyond fair; what's not to like here?!?! Is it gourmet - lord no, but it sure is great comfort food and a nice spot to meet up with friends after a long week. And, free chips and salsa with three decent Mexican hot sauces on your table...you had me at salsa and decent hot sauce, just saying :) I liked this place, and would definitely visit again when I'm in the area. I met my grandma and aunt here for dinner yesterday and I've driven past this place a thousand times, when I was little I grew up in this building (it was Chagrin tavern back then). This place looks decent from the outside, even the atmosphere downplays the great food and service you will get here! Andres (I hope I spelled it correctly) was our server and he was out of this world. It was probably in my top 2 best service I've had in the past 4 years! He had great positive energy, he was friendly, quick, efficient just constantly making us smile and laugh. The chips, salsa and quac were all delicious and tasted fresh. These are not the crappy salty stale chips you get other places nearby. I ordered the vegetarian #1 and it was fantastic. My aunt and grammy both ordered the Fajita Taco Salad with steak which looked good, but I'm still choosing their bean burrito and cheese enchilada every time! Back to Andres, he is a gem! My 77 year old grammy made me go get him so could give him an above average cash tip because she was wowed by the service and good vibes we received. The Eastlake location is cozy and quaint. The staff was very friendly and accommodating to my family and my disabled Mom. The wheelchair accessiblility was about an 8 out of 10. There were a few difficult bumps to maneuver by the front door. Everything was on point and made fresh and fast. Some of the entrees that we ordered were the steak street tacos, taco salad and veggie fajitas. We also shared an order of the cinnamon churros for dessert. I and my family have frequented this place, including having birthday dinners on several occasions. I decided to stop by this evening for a 2 ground beef enchilada, beans, and rice dinner, and pinna colada, while sitting at the counter. The bartender rushed through grinding the ice, leaving the beverage with numerous chunks of ice, making it impossible to drink with the small diameter straw they provide you. My dinner was extremely bland. With added salt and a significant amount salsa and hot sauce, the meal was still terribly bland. A drunk women sitting with her for friends behind me continuously and loudly used the f... word, loud enough than anyone sitting in the room could hear her. Surely the bar tender could hear her, yet the foursome continued to have hard liquor poured for them. This is supposedly a family restaurant, yet drunk customers repeatedly using audible foul language is not only tolerated, it's encouraged with serving more hard drinks to an already drunk customer who is using foul language. In addition, when I went near the checkout counter to pay my bill, I stepped close to a liquid puddle when a female customer (and apparently her husband), were paying their bill. The employee (who had been serving at the bar), pointed his finger at the female customer and stated to me "she peed on the floor! Are you kidding me? I asked for a manager to explain my experience. A manager was not present the evening in question (11/29/2024). I shared my experience to an employee who was identified as the person I should speak with. I also shared with this same employee, I, and a significant number of family members, will NEVER enter another Don Tequila restaurant in the future. "She (a customer), peed on the floor????? This place went downhill from the last time I was there last year. The salsa and chips were good, but the service and food were terrible! The fajitas looked like they came from a microwave. No sizzling platter. The Shrimp and Lobster taquitos had hardly any seafood in them, and tasted like they overdid the nutmeg. That's all I could taste. Went on the fajita 2 for 1 special night, and the portion size of meat was the same if not smaller than the single portion. The waiter said... "Hey, it is the special ya know" when I asked why it was so small. They didn't offer to add anymore to it. The meat was also very small pieces. This place received 2 stars, because at least the salsa was pretty good. Probably will not return here. The other locations are much better, and better value. read more

My brother moved to the area several months ago and my group stopped in here for dinner before a Captains game. To be honest, my expectations were low because I was expecting it to be a typical strip mall Americanized "Mexican" restaurant, but I was pleasantly surprised. The inside has lots of seating and they also have an outdoor patio space. There was 5 of us in a group so we got a large table that was nice and spread out. We got a pitcher of a dark beer to split and it was such a good deal! All of the entrees were so tasty and flavorful and best of all, the ingredients were super fresh. I was especially loving the shrimp tacos my boyfriend got, the avocado slices on top were so fresh and all the ingredients were seasoned nicely with a spicy sauce. I had an enchilada mole dish and I thought it was also nice and flavorful. I'm not sure that it was authentic Mexican but that's fine with me!! The chips and salsa were also fresh, the chips came out warm and the salsa had a good kick to it. I will say the service was a bit slow but they were busy at the time we went and our server was still attentive and very friendly. The price was very affordable for 5 people and the quality was much better than the Mexican places in the area that I'm used to. I can definitely see us going here to eat a lot in the future. The menu is substantial so there's something for everyone to eat here. It's not much to look at from the outside, but it's worth a stop if you're in the area! read more

My mom has gone there for YEARS. She went there 6 months ago and ordered Togo, they overcharged her. She decided to go back today and ordered extra salsa and chips- paid for the extra charge, no problem. She knew it was going to be extra. However, she did NOT receive the chips and salsa. She called back to let them know, so she can pick it up tomorrow sometime. Well, the guy called back and said he packed it in a separate bag. My mom insisted that she never received it. But they just want to argue about it. It's just chips and salsa, just give the woman her chips and salsa and stop arguing. The response was uncalled for. If you want to provide excellent customer service, apologize and say you thought you put the salsa and chips in the bag, and tell the customer if they want to come back to pick them up, then you will have it ready for them. Or add a chips and salsa to their next order when they decide to come back. She loves the food! She said when she dines in, everything is fine. We came here for the first time on Memorial Day because the restaurant across the street on the river is closed on Monday and the other restaurant on the river was not seating tables because the kitchen was 1:45 minutes behind. I'm not disappointed. We had delicious, fresh Mexican food that was served hot and promptly. We will be back! Prices are very reasonable too. read more

Went here last night with my son and sister. We were seated immediately and offered drinks right away. I ordered a vodka and soda with 3 limes and got a tall with 3 lemons. Not a huge deal and it was corrected but it didn't taste good. Unsure if the limes weren't fresh or the club soda was off. At best I can describe their food as unremarkable. My sister ordered a chicken chimichanga, I ordered steak fajitas with the veggies well done, and my son ordered a combination platter, hold the chorizo . What my sister got was not a chimichanga but edible, my sons combo platter had chorizo, and my veggies were not well done. The platter wasn't Even sizzling for me to do it myself. Nothing was bad per se, just not "OMG THIS IS DELICIOUS! I'm so glad we came here!" We have since gone back again, hoping it was an off night the first time and it wasn't. Decided to go on a whim. This was a decent Mexican place. The chips and salsa were fresh. The food was average. I had the shrimp chimichangas and they were ok. The rice had little flavor and the beans were more of a paste than anything. My wife had the carna asada and said it was delicious. The wait staff didnt seem to be the most pleasant. One waiter was complaining when a guest wanted her meal returned because it was not cooked as ordered. Frankly, he was rude. All in all a decent place but not one I plan on returning to. read more
