Beef taco and burrito
Bobbi Jo J.

The service and food was amazing. We are always looking for New Mexican restaurants to try. It seems like they just opened and were kinda slow which I am sure will not last long. They have a nice bar area in there which I bet will be packed as soon as people know that it is there. It is decorated very cute inside. We will be back!!!

Birria Taco Dinner

We had like three servers!! Very authentic Mexican atmosphere. Mexican music playing. A bit strange to get in as the entrance is in the back of the strip mall. Confusing at first! Had the house special Birria tacos. Very good the rice wasn't warm but they immediately brought me out some hot rice! Moist and authentic flavoring. Enjoyed our dinner with my sangria.

Mole Poblano
Amy J.

Mole poblano came with plenty of food for $12. The mole is likely out of a can as it was sort of chalky and not rich or smoky like the legitimate mole I've had in Mexico. Not bad but not anything special.

Don't know how to answer their phone for takeout. Could not hear the person on the phone. Tried twice and gave up.

Azteca - Chips and salsa

Azteca

The food is so fresh! The pico is bursting with cold, fresh, juicy flavor. The portion of the…read morequesadilla is insane!! The steak strips inside were lovely, soft and not overly chewy. The rice you can tell is made, as well as the beans.. definitely not from a can. We got the queso which I forgot to get a picture of, but it was more like melted cheese queso than canned queso. The salsa was fresh and just the right amount of spicy. I ordered their seasonal special Azteca which were dough rolls filled with chicken, corn, and black beans covered in a chipotle-like sauce. They were my favorite thing I tried here, so so good. Of course we also ordered sopapillas, and they were much like an elephant ear with chocolate Hershey's sauce and whipped cream on the side. I would have rather had a caramel sauce and a small portion of vanilla bean ice cream on the side.. but as is it's great. I would say the quesadilla was very soupy at the bottom from the fresh meat juices, maybe the meat should be allowed to rest a little longer before it is sliced and put into the shell, but for those that don't mind a bit of a soggy bottom the flavor was unique and delicious anyways! This will definitely make our top list of Mexican food places in the area, family friendly and very affordable. They have a happy hour from 2pm-6pm that saves you money on appetizers, and for two cheese quesadillas, a giant steak fajita quesadilla, Azteca Special, sopapillas, and one soft drink we came out to under sixty dollars. Can't beat that.

I ordered a chicken chimichanga a-la-carte and it was huge! Loved the diced chicken inside instead of the typical shredded. There was refried beans in it - and although I'm not a big fan, it wasn't bad. My husband ordered the Chori Pollo and thought it was delicious. Chorizo wasn't too spicy either. Overall a great experience as always!

I got there around 5:50 ish on a Monday night and as I did more and more people were shoeing up as it was hard for my pals to find parking. I was seated quickly and we had a wonderful server, Mala who was taking care of us. I ordered the Nachos Supremos w/o beans or sour cream and subbed in extra lettuce . The ambiance was great as there was people of all ages. It was a little loud and a few kids crying at one point but it was drowned out by laughter and subsided. We sat inside. They do offer outdoor seating as well. One of my coworkers got Pollo Con Crema and the other got chicken Fajitas which came out sizzling and WARNING the plate is super hot haha Mala came around with looked like a squeeze sauce bottle and was allowing tasting for those who wanted. She was very attentive and refilled our drinks and waters without hesitation (even remembered my lime in my diet Pepsi!)

The hot salsa is Smokey, but on its own it's not as good as mixed for me. Ordered the grilled chicken taco, one shredded chicken taco and lobster chimichanga, fried, no cheese on top and side of beans instead of rice, no cheese. Would have been better for my husband with corn tacos instead, no one asked or gave him the option. Husband kept it normal to keep it simple. Their chips are good, look like they are made from half size corn shells? Crunchy and fresh and at times warm. The guacamole isn't bad, the table side must be even better. The staff are hard working and hustling for our tables. The grilled chicken tacos were okay. The lobster chimichanga were different, not a ton of lobster meat inside, but enough and a unique dish. The spinach is a nice addition.

We both ordered the Federal Platter. First off, it was a lot of food. More than enough for a meal with plenty left over for lunch the next day. And on top of that, it was fresh and delicious. Spiced just right, not too much and not too hot. But they had more sauce choices if you wanted to bring more heat. We paired with a Topo Chico which was perfect. If you get the chance, I'd say stop in.

I personally always get the nachos and add everything from chicken to shrimp. They even have a high protein low carb option. I'm sure you can do veggie tacos too (I just don't order it). Then you can wash it down with lemonade or a great beer. The gentleman who I believe owns the spot is really awesome. The staff is friendly and always ready to help. Anyone who walks up front makes the experience even better. It's amazing that even with dozens of people, they are able to remember us and even what we like. The building is nice too. Great music is always playing and full of life. They have a patio if you want to enjoy your food in the charming area of Mentor. They cool art on the wall and theirs enough room for everyone. If you're ever in the mentor area, drop by you'll be glad you did.
