The food here was so good! I ordered the Baja fish tacos and wow, so fresh and flavorful. They came with a side of beans and rice, also delish. I got the skinny margarita, which was very good, but I do wish they came in a smaller size haha Service was great and the vibes are fun inside. The menu is a little more elevated than your typical family Mexican restaurant as was the pricing, but it was well worth it. I was visiting friends on this side of town but would drive 40 minutes again just for those bomb fish tacos and to try other items on the menu. read more

We ate there for a late lunch for Cinco de Mayo. My husband had a burrito and I had a quesadilla. We also had margaritas. He had a traditional homemade and I had the coconut margarita. The meal and margaritas were delicious! This is absolutely the best Mexican restaurant I have ever ate at. Highly recommend them. Service was great too! read more

Taquitos, street tacos and a skinny margarita hit the spot for us. We were furniture shopping and came in hungry and tired. The service was great and we are full and ready to head back out to the stores. . Chicken was a little dry on to street tacos but the beef taquitos were perfect. Been here before and their guac and queso are fantastic but needed some protein today so we skipped that. If you are coming here for your first time wear stretchy pants and get the guac, salsa and queso- so yummy. read more

No skimping here. Plenty of brisket in the Birrio tacos. Came with a side of rice and beans. The side sauce was amazing. I had to pass on the Sangria. They put cinnamon in their sangrias-not for me. I have never been to a Mexican food spot that tries to hide the protein. Okay, well beside Chipotle that is. I cannot say I have been impressed with my last two trips here. I believe I come back for the vast tequila selection more than the food now. The people are friendly but the food is starting to suffer if you ask me. The ceviche was nothing more than some tilapia with pico on it. That usually how I judge a Mexican spot because if it is not traditional that tells me you don't know what you are doing. Also I suggest sitting anywhere other than a both near the door that has to be the most awkward way to eat a meal. Table is really low and the seats are really high. It's not normal to sit and eat like that. I'll probably go back but no time soon. read more

This is a clean and neat place tucked away in a strip mall. The service was prompt, the server pleasant, and the chips and salsa above average. But if that's the best lead I can come up with for this review...well...you know what's coming. Unfortunately, the food, even though it arrived quickly, turned out to be a disappointment. My Favorite Companion's beef tacos were bland and her soda as flat as the tabletop. My chicken taco salad contained a great amount of nice and crisp vegetables but so little meat I suspect the bird was more frightened by the knife than wounded. If you really want to try the place, have a beer with the chips and salsa and watch some soccer on TV. Save your appetite for another restaurant. read more

Wonderful. El Taco Macho provides an outstanding dining experience to its patrons. Their burritos and tacos have been consistent the past couple times I have been there, and I recommend it to everyone out there looking for a great night out with great food and an inviting setting. The staff are very nice and check in every now and again to make sure you're doing well at the table. The Birria and Guadalajara Tacos are my absolute favorite, the chips and salsa are consistently good, and I was able to enjoy their classic margarita the last time I was there. WOW!! Swung through town and needed a snack before back on the road -- WOW. Everything is massive but delicious! Husband got the quesadilla - a bit more open face than we were anticipating but he says worth it. I got a classic chicken burrito -- DAMN. It was fried which wasn't expected but it's essentially a chicken and (perfectly done) decried bean filled burrito with the sides -- lettuce, pico etc on the side. Big surprise was the full size of chips, and side of salsa and pickled vegetables. Delightfully surprised and hit the spot! Great work! read more

Food was decent. Very expensive though they want 18$ for a margarita and my fajitas were 22$. I asked for more of the tiny tortillas with the fajitas and got charged 3$ have never had a Mexican restaurant charge for that, especially when already paying 22$ for the meal! A Mexican street food style, wrestling themed restaurant that's local!? Yes, please! I've been going there since they recently opened. The service can be hit or miss, with a notable trend of the servers taking awhile for drinks. However, the food is always amazing and on point, served fresh and hot. Local or not local? That is the question. Hopefully we don't get busted for cultural appropriation, but my wife and I DID transcend time and space to instantly end up in Mexico this evening. We didn't realize it at first and it took awhile to sink in after we seated ourselves in the back bar of El Taco Macho. We slowly started to notice when attempting to order (the absolutely delicious) tamale appetizer. The waiter couldn't string a full sentence of English together to save his life. After much lame gringo gesticulations the appetizer order was complete. My wife (hither to be known as Suze) ordered a fishbowl sized margarita which she loved enough to kill it mercifully. I ordered XX Amber 24oz which very disappointedly was not cold and was flat. However, through more gesticulations I managed to exchange it for a slightly cooler and slightly more carbonated Corona. Hey! Maybe that's how they do it in Mexico. With a little time before ordering our entrees, the juxtaposition of Painesville and Mexico City became manifest. Around a small table sat and stood 5 young Mexican gents (we came to find out they'd been depleting the Corona stock since 11am). Impressed with their drinking abilities we casually Eve dropped on their conversation. While not understanding a word of it, we enjoyed the tone and tenor. Suze ordered a burrito the size of a SCUD missile cut in half (complete with aluminum casing). I ordered a chicken, rice and bean burrito which was delish. I'm not experienced enough to know how authentic the meal was, but I'm well versed on what I like...I like El Taco Macho! But how do we get back home? It turns out by paying the bill your trip will end. We found ourselves standing in a Painesville strip mall parking lot having very much enjoyed our journey. Maybe next time we'll take a shot at their wall of tequila! Pro Tip: when at El Taco Macho always get a seat in the way back bar. As my first review, I must say that El Taco Macho impressed me. Definitely a place to go experience in the Mentor/Painesville area. Food: 5/5 Not one complaint from the whole table. Chips and salsa were so fresh, and queso was delicious. Queso was not complimentary, but very good. As for my meal, I had the macho quesadilla. It is a chicken and chorizo quesadilla that is STELLAR. I have had it multiple times here, and would absolutely recommend you getting it for your first El Taco Macho experience. Service: 5/5 The service was very good, as we had a party of eight. No drink was left empty and chips appeared just as fast as they disappeared. Our waiter was extremely friendly, and constantly referred to us as amigos. Despite the fact it was a small gesture, it made us happy and seemed genuine. Food came in a reasonable amount of time. Plates were cleared promptly after the meal. Overall good service. Ambiance - Environment: 5/5 The table we were seated at offered plenty of room for our party. It was clean and perfect for having a conversation. The music is extremely lively, and the decorations really make the place. I enjoy the luchadors (Mexican wrestlers) and beer advertising. Wanted to try this place because it is on the Lake County Taco Trail. We were not disappointed. Love the cozy little bar area in the back of the restaurant. Service was excellent. Definitely recommend Taco Macho, and will go again. read more

We haven't been in a while, mainly because I did not like their margs (store bought sour mix). There have been some minor changes, one of which is legitimate margaritas! We ordered a pitcher of coconut lime margs that were super tasty. No sour mix and they held off on agave by request. I had Guadalajara tacos. They came out quick and we're very fresh tasting - great with verde salsa. Hubs ordered asada tacos and liked them a lot but agreed mine were better ;) Great little spot that we will def frequent more often. read more

This place is not at all what i expected from the exterior given the sign and location in a strip mall. However, once you enter the interior decor is fresh and gives off a hip vibe. The wrestler on the menu gives it a fun vibe. The menu is extensive with a number of healthy options and lunch specials. I really liked the salsa, tasted fresh and not chunky. I chose the lunch chicken fajitas! Great size for a lunch portion. Everything was fresh and came out quickly which helped with our short work lunch hour! Delicious! We ordered a few items to try: shrimp tacos w/ black beans and rice, chicken taquitos, fried burrito and chips and salsa. My favorite were the shrimp tacos. They had a nice amount of spiciness that went well with the fresh radish topping. I also liked that they used corn tortillas for this one. The black beans were also very flavorful and not just an afterthought. Loved the variety of fresh salsas, definitely recommend getting 3-4 to try, the chips were also good. Drinks: I ordered the sangria margarita and tried the corazon roto, a lovely grapefruit/marg/sangria drink - loved both. Will be back! read more
