The food is always excellent! I love the queso and tofu tacos the best! The waitress/waiters are always very nice and helpful! They messed up one of my taco orders once, but brought me out the right ones in less than 5 min! read more

We waited a while after the location opened to avoid the crowds and growing period for the staff when everyone there is "a new employee". The experience was really good for us. IT GETS BUSY. Accept that. Get there before noon on the weekend to avoid the crazy line at the door. We were seated immediately, but had to wait for the food for a little bit, but the chips and salsa runneth over. Great beer selection too! When the food came out, we both agreed that the tacos were phenomenal! We will be going back for sure! They "hype" is for a reason. read more

Had a good experience before (still during a pandemic), but a more recent visit was pretty mediocre. 3 orders in my group of 5 were messed up. Margheritas didn't have sugar rim, which wasn't a big deal. My tacos had tofu when I know I only picked meat on the sheet. Lastly my friend's bowl came without the salsa. The staff was kind enough to remake the bowl however. read more

Such a cool place! The food was amazing!!! The servers were super friendly. Would definitely go again

This update should have been done a while ago. Barrio Kent has completely turned around - the food is amazing, the servers are so nice and did I mention the food is delicious, amazing and consistently tasty! My husband and I love it here and go frequently. If you haven't gone to Barrio Kent you are missing out!! read more

Always a good time at Barrio and the Kent location is no different! Awesome selection of tacos and tequila! I had several tacos on this visit, and every one was well put together and tasted amazing. The Carolina reaper sauce was very flavorful and incredibly hot, which was exactly what I was looking for. The service was awesome, even though the place was packed. I was dining alone, and still got the same amount of attention as everyone else. My server had brown curly hair and I cannot for the life of me remember her name, but if the service is like that every time I go to Barrio, some of the places in Kent will need to step heir game up. read more

We've been to multiple locations so we are familiar with the chain. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were great. What was not great was how dirty everything was. Sticky menus, and the floor in the kitchen was disgusting. I could see it from my seat at the bar and it appeared to not have been swept from the day before. For 2 hours I watched 20 employees repeatedly walk over broken chips without even looking down or getting a broom. Despite that we do like the tacos so we put in an order. An hour and 15 minutes after putting in our order we still had no tacos and no explanation as to why. I'm not sure anyone would have even noticed that we didn't get our food. We had to ask twice but still received no tacos. We cashed out, cancelled the food, and went to Taco Tonto's which still has the best tacos in Kent! read more

Definitely a great spot and very popular amongst the local students of Kent State. Service was great and the food and margaritas were top notch! If I had to say anything negative at all, I'd just say it gets very crowded almost any day of this week (which isn't their fault, it's just a popular location) and I wasn't a big fan of the queso. Otherwise, I'd definitely recommend for people of all ages looking for some good food/drinks! read more

After all the hype, this was not a place I'll run back to. We ordered food and a cocktail... By the time my drink was done, still no food. We waited over 40 minutes for tacos... Not a steak or chicken breast, but tacos from a prepared list of ingredients.... And boy was I disappointed to find the skirt steak wasn't even hot!! Why don't you say "chilled" on the handy dandy order form? I wouldn't have ordered it. But the skirt steak was the tastiest of my 3 tacos. The $1 rice add-on was a catsup cup of sticky cold white Uncle Ben's... Really? It's a "hip" place to look at, but no one will wait that long for mediocre or below average food. If your kitchen time is also slow, at least have the courtesy to present me food that says "wow, I'm worth the wait". Ambience is not good... Way too loud to even have a conversation while we waited for the slow appearing food. I came, I tried, I abstain. read more

Great place for fun tacos! My husband and I came out about a week after opening and had a blast! We did have to wait about 45 minutes for a table, but there was seating outside to accommodate us while we waited. Our server, Michaela, was very attentive to our needs and answered any questions we had regarding the different options for tacos. She recommended the monthly specials which were very good! I enjoyed my taco with the "stoner" shell that has a hard shell, soft shell, queso and chorizo inside. We have been to many Barrio locations, and I look forward to returning to this location. read more

This location opened when I was 7 months pregnant and I told my husband we couldn't go until I could have a margarita! We finally went and I'm happy to say this Barrio was of the same quality of the Lakewood one, which was always a place we'd seek out when in the Cleveland area. Having one in our backyard basically now is so nice! We went during brunch on a Sunday but weren't in the mood for brunch food and ordered off of the el Jefe menu (we've tried to build our own before and always get overwhelmed because there's so many toppings and we end up making combinations that don't go!) we each got 2 tacos and also went ahead and got the dip trio with Tuscan guacamole, pineapple guacamole, and buffalo chicken queso. Tuscan guacamole is one of my favs and I've tried to recreate it at home to no avail. They were out of blue cheese for the buffalo queso though, which left it a tad too spicy with no cooling component for my taste. My husband got the Barrio marg on the rocks and it was the perfect classic marg. I got the Jade Olmec and while I could taste the mint, that was about the only flavor it had. It was lacking in taste and I wish I'd tried another. Service was great even though they were busy and our waitress got everything right without writing down anything. We will be back! read more

This entire Barrio experience was an extreme disappointment. I have been to other Barrio locations and always look forward to eating there. We sat down at 7:00 pm and placed our orders. After about an hour of waiting for our meals, we asked our server how much longer it would be. She replied that they haven't started making our food and that there were still tickets ahead of ours. We proceeded to wait another 20 minutes, all while watching three other tables seated after us receive their food. When we finally got our meals around 8:20 pm, they were incorrect and extremely subpar compared to other Barrio locations. Our server was not very helpful or apologetic about the situation, and I had to eat my entire meal with no beverage. Save yourself the time and frustration, and go to a different Barrio location. read more

Lived in Ohio City, frequented Tremont Barrio, Moved to Akron and was very excited for Kent Barrio. Inefficient, poorly run, staff very young and seemingly inexperienced. Would not recommend. read more

Decided on the Kent one as it was close to home and the rest of our group for my son's 12 birthday. I did call ahead to ask if we could do reservations. They do not. They did say I could come in 30 minutes early to get our seats (for 14 people). Once I arrived, they said we needed half of our guests to be there in order to seat us. We had to wait for nearly 30 minutes for them to show up in order to be seated, so it was useless to show up early. Would have been a helpful tip on the phone. The waitress was one of the least polite people I could imagine. You can order cheese dip and guac, which we did for our group. The menu you must use a pencil and paper to custom order your taco. For a kid, this can be intimidating. It would be nice if they let you know what is spicy or not. Onto the food. Tacos were very good. I also ordered a side of rice. Thinking - $1.50, I should get some good rice as a side. NOPE. It is a little itty bitty side of rice. Like a thimble full. Not very good. Salsa, bland. Cheese sauce, you could get anywhere. Guacamole - very good. DRINKS: I had the pineapple marg. Very Very GOOD. So good, I had 2. Billing: Watch your bill. They messed up each of our bills and had to have the manager come over and fix it. The waitress was aloof and didn't really care. The manager apologized and fixed them. If you go, go in in a small group. Order tacos and margaritas. Inspect your bill. If you do all of those things at the Kent location - you should be ok. read more

My family just went to Barrio tonight... we were excited about getting one in Kent because my sister eats at some of the other locations and she really likes it. We don't plan to go back. We started out with some very good guacamole, but 45 min and 4 baskets of chips later, we finally asked for the food to go because we were so tired of waiting and honestly no longer very hungry. We considered just canceling our order and leaving, but still were looking forward to trying the food. 15 more minutes it finally came out and when I got home it was totally cold... Not room-temperature, but chilled, like it had been prepared then refrigerated for a while. I only live 10 min away. It was really, really strange and a total disappointment. read more

Everything here is amazing. They have the best salsa I've ever had, the tacos are great, and I even like the margaritas even though I'm not usually a fan. The only downsides are not the most comfortable seating and long wait times, which I would deal with both for the food/drinks. read more

This location is a happening place! They are really trying hard to work the kinks out. I noticed lots of servers working very hard and fast to get everyone what they need. The tacos are so fresh and the flavors are amazing. We got the 3 appetizer dips. Just delicious! Hubby really likes the add bacon selection. I prefer the shrimp tacos with the pineapple salsa. We can't make ourselves go to any other taco establishment or 1.00 taco nights anywhere else! Haha We have sat at the bar a couple of times and everyone has been very friendly! Keep up the hustle, your doing awesome! read more

I have eaten here twice, the service is good and the taco's are wonderful. I recommend the Chorizo quesos for starters and the braised short rib taco. read more

Great consistent food and experience every time. They have monthly drink and food specials.

They have amazing food and drinks! You write out your order on a slip of paper that lists all the ingredients so there's no confusion. Wait can be a little long but there's plenty to do in the area. And the restaurant is very very loud, wouldn't recommend taking a talkative group read more

I am not one to typically leave negative reviews, but I have been to this location twice in the past few weeks and was served by the same bartender and I feel like something needs to be said. First, I will say that the food is always great, but the service was horrible. Both times I was served by the same bartender. I did not get his name, he was arrogant. The first time being served by him made me and my friends feel completely uncomfortable as he tried to hit on us the whole time but was not getting the hint that we were not interested. The second time was even worse. His constant request for my phone number made me want to rush out of there without evening finishing my meal. If you plan visiting this location, just don't request to sit at the bar. read more

I've been going to Barrio's for quite some time now. First time at the Kent location. Wait wasn't too long, service and food was great would definitely come back to this location. read more

I've been to Barrio twice now. Excellent food both times. First time we had an issue with our bill which took 3 tries to fix but our server helped with a smile and we all laughed. Second time everything was perfect! Even the picky husband liked it. Definitely a place you should try! read more

I like Barrio. Their queso is yummy and 90% of the time their chips are spot on! The first few times we went, we tried different things and wrote down what we liked and didn't like. Now, we just sit down and bubble fill our way to taco yumminess! I like their house margarita on the rocks with salt and they have some rotating beers on tap. Overall, I think the food is terrific. Sometimes the service is hit or miss. And the music is always loud. But, I like Barrio. I'd give them a 4.5 but that isn't possible on this rating app. read more

Their food is always great and their servers are awesome. I love that they expanded, it was much needed. I eat here frequently and I've never had any issue. read more

We loved Barrio the last time we visited a little over a year ago. But today the food was a disappointment. The pico was very bland (basically just tomatoes and onion). The steak on my taco was served cold, like straight from the fridge. The halibut on the fish taco was dry and over cooked. All of the sauces just tasted like straight mayo instead of cilantro lime etc. The drinks and service were both good, but we were there for the tacos which were mediocre at best. Sadly, I don't think we will return :( read more

I've been coming to barrio in Kent since it opened, been there multiple times. Three of us came in late Sunday night after work. We had the absolute best server we have had there ever, chandler. He took great care of us. Just wanted to inform the owners that they have a great server! read more

Let me start with saying I love Barrio. I have been to many of their location and have enjoyed their food and drinks. At this location I didn't have a pleasant experience. I attempted to dine at this location first week it opened. It was an hour wait. I didn't mind. I walked around and came back to check the status of the queue. I waited in line but there was another host in the floor helping. I went to her to ask as everyone else was. She totally ignored me as if I wasn't even there. But we made eye contact and she knew I was there to ask for help. I assumed she didn't see me (I was standing right next to her) she looks at me and continues to assist other (white) patrons. I excused myself three times and she continued to ignore. Finally she asked my (white) friend if they needed help. I told her I was trying ask her what the status was with our reservation. She continued to talked to my friend and totally ignored me as I didn't exist. Maybe because I am brown. I hate to pull the race card but even my friend agreed as she watched the whole thing. Will I stop going to Barrio? No. Do I hate Barrio? No. Just disappointed. read more

Great food, drinks, and service. Does get insanely busy after 6pm so be prepared to wait or go early! Totally a different style of Mexican food and ordering but worth it!! read more

i love this place. beautiful people. beautiful food. wow! i can't wait to go back!!!!

We have been wanting to try barrio for awhile and decided to get take out. Once we got there we quickly learned that the dine in menu wasn't the same as the take out menu. We ordered something that they said we could have after we returned to pick up our order they told us they we couldn't get that item after the rest of our food was ready. They had our number and didn't call and ask if we wanted to switch it out till we got there. After we got home our order was wrong. I understand this is a hard time on restaurants and I put that into consideration. Maybe it's better experience if you dine in read more

after waiting an hour for a table, we went to order guac and queso and our waitress, finessed us into buying "los tres amigos" the pick three salsa, guac, queso deal for $14 by telling us that we get and extra salsa for the price of the original two we ordered. we ended up getting smaller portions than what we originally asked for and a salsa we didnt even want!!! i just wanted my large queso THEN we waited an HOUR AND 20 MIN FOR OUR TACOS. such poor service. tacos were not up to par compared to the original cleveland barrios. and i basically had to get on my hands and knees and beg for chips. never ever again‍ read more

Margarita wasn't so hot and took well over half an hour to get tacos at the table. Nothing pleasant about the place

I have been excited to try Barrio! I was very happy about the Kent location being so close to home. We had to wait an hour for a table, which we expected for a new restaurant. Our queso was good, but lukewarm. After 50 minutes, we got our tacos and they were COLD. The manager was kind enough to have them remade. The second batch were warmer than the first, but still the coldest tacos I've ever eaten. In fact, the restaurant itself is cold. Be sure to bring a jacket! We may come back in a few months when the opening growing pains have softened, but for over $15 a person and 2 hour wait, it certainly wasn't worth the time or money. read more

Amazing food! Great service!!!! Thanks for making our experience At barrio awesome Corry!!!

I was really looking forward to coming here... but if you're an international student don't come here without a passport or they won't let you get drinks. We put our names down and waited 1 hour and 45 minutes to finally get to our table and order to be told we couldn't get what we wanted because we didn't have our passports... which is very dangerous to bring out. They didn't even let it go for once and were rude about it. Put a sign on your door maybe? Suck heard its a decent place read more

I ordered takeout today at 4:30 and it was busy but nothing compared to the Tremont Barrio that I frequent often and love. I was so excited to go to the Kent Barrio. So then it's 5:00 and no order... getting antsy waiting thirty minutes for tacos. 5:15, and it's been 45 minutes so I ask about my order. The two girls up front said it'll be an hour and I was concerned because I didn't want to wait that long for tacos. I asked if it was coming up soon and got a pessimistic "I don't know". I said ok. She said "I can check" and I said yes. This girl goes and comes back and STARTS HELPING OTHER CUSTOMERS. HELLO?? Then she's back at the host stand texting. I said "is there an update?" And then she said she'd check. Omg... this girl is driving me crazy. She came back and said "well the food orders are going down the line so I think so" and I said "ok can I have a refund??" And they said "I don't know." Not only that-- they both lowered to below the counter and started whispering. Like this was so awkward. Then they came back up and said "well ask the manager". Five minutes later the manager comes out with my order. He was very kind and apologized for the delay. I appreciated that. But the food was cold. The behavior of those girls at the host stand today was worse than a couple of awkward middle school girls. How hard is it to just ask the manager long ago?? I love Barrio but I'm only coming back if those girls are not there anymore. (One of them was named Grace and the other had dark hair, was wearing yellow shirts, and had on sunglasses) read more
