We are from out of town and decided that we wanted Mexican. After reading several reviews for several restaurants around here we chose to give this a try. All I can say is WOW! The food was amazing. We both had fajitas and couldn't believe how MUCH food each order had as well as how amazing each was. Definitely share if you don't want leftovers because we have enough for at least two more meals. I read that someone likes the coleslaw that they serve with the chips and we weren't impressed. The sauces and guacamole were great and fresh. The rice and beans were excellent - usually Mexican rice is bland - not here. Had the margarita flight and enjoyed the different flavors. Definitely recommend this restaurant. Tried this little gem tonight and loved it! We were served a bowl of crisp, warm, fresh tortilla chips and salsa as we sat down. I drove here with my wife because she wanted Arepas and they're one of the few places that serve them. I ordered a Torta (Al pastor) for myself and they were both very good! I should mention that I've had 100,037,372,947,372 tortas/arepas/tacos from all over (US, Mexico, and Colombia), and what we had was definitely up to par.... I don't like to leave poor reviews, but in this case I have to. If you look through my reviews you will see my affinity for Mexican food. This place was just not good. The salsa was like soup for starters. If the chips and salsa are not good, that's usually an indication of what's coming next. I had the chicken fajitas. Someone else had beans and rice and chorizo dip and someone else had chorizo nachos. Within 90 minutes two of us are having gastro issues. Only reason it got one star was because the server was at least nice. Won't be back. read more

When this establishment opened my coworkers and I knew we immediately had to go check it out. When we arrived we didn't see any other cars there and honestly we weren't even sure they were open. We actually started leaving but I was like we drove here may as well check the door. lol and behold they were open. We were immediately greeted and sat and brought chips and salsa. Menu was extensive and quite a few options for lunch specials. Food came out hot and fresh and quick and was very good. We went back again after being open for a couple months and saw tons of cars and was glad to see them growing in popularity and business. We had lunch there with a family last Saturday. The chips and salsa were very good, but the ground beef was definitely microwaved to the point where the grease was pooling away from the meat. My daughter, who loves tacos, would not eat the taco because the meat was so over done microwaved. Same with my super burrito I ordered. Half of it was chicken. Half of it was beef. The beef was so microwaved. All of the fat was cooked out and pooled It was almost unedible. Since both things / most things on menu here are made out of ground beef there was probably no reason to try something else. I ate lunch here a 9 months ago and it was fine. I love this place! I've been several times and it's really delish! The first time I went, I sat at the bar and the bartender who served me gave me ALL the salsas to try! Now I know which are my faves! If I order alcoholic beverages here, I get their jalapeño cucumber margarita. It's got a nice spicy kick to it while simultaneously being refreshing! Upon being seated, the server will bring you the requisite chips and salsa, but along with this, they give you Mexican coleslaw that is absolutely craveable! I actually top the tortilla chips with it and eat it that way. Better get an extra side of it because I'm not sharing! When my auntie was in town for my cousin's wedding, I took her, my mother, and my two boys here. They all loved their food, as well! I do tend to get the same thing every time I eat here. I ordered for pick up one evening and then ate in the restaurant another evening (so yeah, the food is good). When I visited this restaurant as an eat in patron, the food was good/flavorful, the portions were ample. I loved the decor. The location is convenient and parking is easy. The prices are very reasonable. Unfortunately the staff (while nice) was very forgetful. We had to remind our server several times about forgotten items and they never checked on our ongoing experience or refilled our drinks. They weren't busy we were one of three tables. There were 5 visible employees. During the take out experience the food was equally yummy, it was well packaged and again the staff was nice but forgetful. When I got to the hotel, I was missing a whole steak taco dinner. I called, they offered that I could come pick it up and they would make it upon my arrival so that it would be hot. No one offered me anything as compensation for having to drive all the way back. (in fairness I only asked for the taco dinner they forgot and didn't seek further compensation) The food is really good so if you're okay with an experience such as the two I described and If this sort of experience wouldn't sour you. I recommend trying this little Latino restaurant. For the record, if I were in the area again. I'd go back because I don't mind flagging down a server and asking for what I need and from now on I'll check my to-go order before leaving. read more

Second time I've been here and wasn't disappointed. Started with a Pina colada in a pineapple. Best I've ever had. Then we got some quacamole and queso with chorizo. It was $1 taco night and I got 2 shredded chicken tacos with cilantro and onion. For something so simply made, it is so good and flavorful. My friend got the jalapeno Mexicana, which were also very good. Only cons to this place are the prices. Food is higher than most, $6.99 for queso fundido and $10 and change for my Pina colada. My friend got a skinny Jalapeno margarita and it was $10 and change as well. For what I thought might be a cheaper nite of drinks, a couple appetizers and 2 $1 tacos ended costing me $50 and change. I don't really frequent the area so I am not familiar with what was here before, but from the flooring, it looks like it was two different places. That's good because I would hope this place could pack in a crowd. We were seated in a booth right away and were given salsa and coleslaw. I have never seen coleslaw with chips but we tried it. Still a tad weird for us, but if that's custom, then I dig it. My daughter and I were craving some Latin food and didn't want to make the drive to our favorite place in Cleveland. We were lucky enough to find this place while in Portage Lakes. I ordered the arepa with carnitas and got plantains instead of fries. The arepa was heavenly and packed full of carnitas with a few peppers and onions- what a great balance. They didn't skimp on the carnitas. My daughter got a torta which was huge! We split our food and I didn't even try the torta because half of the arepa was more than enough for me along with half of the plantains. Our drinks were always full and the check was timely. Not your run-of-the-mill Mexican restaurant. Along with the normal Mexican choices like burritos, enchiladas, tacos, and fajitas, they have other choices from south of the border. I had an Arepa, a Colombian/Venezuelan dish, corn dough wrapped around meats and veggies (pictured, with a Chile Pablano). They offer other Latin American dishes, like Chicharróns, Yuca, and Tostones (twice-fried plantain slices). I can't wait to go back and try something from their exotic seafood menu. They have four different salsas from which to choose: a regular red salsa that was fresh and tasty, a creamy jalapeño salsa that was good and hot, a smoky chipotle adobo salsa, and a tomatillo green onion salsa. Service was good. Our waitress had a great sense of humor and the other staff were very friendly. The temperature in the restaurant was quite chilly with the air conditioning cranked too low. I wish I had a sweater! The restaurant is housed in a building that has been home of several Mexican restaurants in the past. Here's hoping that Latino's stays in business for a long time! read more

This restaurant is awesome! We're in Akron visiting from down South and just happened upon this fabulous place because it is near our hotel. This is not a "Mexican restaurant," hence the name "Latino Bar and Grill." There are some typical Mexican and Tex-Mex classics on the menu, like chimichangas, enchiladas, and fajitas, but the owners are Colombian and Salvadoran. We had the arepas al pastor. They were outrageously scrumptious and quite ample. Arepas are a Colombian classic: thick corn tortillas, split like a pita and then stuffed with various fillings, like chicken, beef, pork, and veggies. The "al pastor" is seasoned pork, kind of like the famous "tacos al pastor" from Puebla, Mexico. (Ask them to add pineapple and cilantro, which are an essential part of tacos al pastor in Puebla.) I recommend the sweet fried plantains on the side. They are perfectly prepared, and the serving is huge. Since this place is relatively new, I tend to ignore reviews and dive right in. However, since I'm hesitant to the food in the area, I was scared of getting just another Mexican restaurant. That was not the case at all. I came in during lunch time on a Wednesday and it was pretty dead. The parking is also a bit strange and limited based on the amount of people you could fit in this place. Its huge inside, two sections for customers and in the middle a bar. I normally don't rave about the complimentary chips, but wow that white salsa was like crack to my taste buds. Ordered the platanos appetizer. Good palate cleanser as many already know. Was very tasty. Then I ordered the yuca con chicharonnes, which were perfectly fried and amazingly paired with the two sauces they gave to me, a smoky chipotle sauce or a lime cilantro sauce. The service was good and not overwhelming and the food was outstanding. There's a biase here because you're not going to find actual Latin cuisine close to this unless you drive up to Cleveland. Very worth checking out and I was happy to see it rated between 4-5 here. I'm unsure how it could be rated lower unless you are a picky eater. The free coleslaw was tasty. Server was not friendly. Chicken fajitas were so bland as to be comical, zero flavor to the chicken. Chicken enchiladas were passable but not very good. I ordered a ground beef taco because the waitress said they were on special and only $1 each. On the bill it was $2.45, I mentioned it and she came back saying that the special is for tomorrow! Everything about this place was amazing. I sat at the bar and was immediately waited on. The piña colada was so tasty and definitely had a good kick to it. Everything about the food was so absolutely delicious. Even the salsa that comes with the complimentary chips was better than most. It tasted so fresh like it was homemade. Normally I drench my food in hot sauce because it has no flavor, but I didn't have to do that at Latino's. The meat in the arepa was seasoned to perfection. The arepa tortilla itself tasted like it was made fresh that day. Everything was spot on. The yucca was fried to perfection was such good seasoning. I think the best part was that the owner let me try different drinks. He gave me a little taste of the sangria (absolutely divine) and the Italian Margarita (made fresh from oranges and limes). I will definitely be back. Their drink specials are incredible as well. Check this place out!! Only con is that parking can be a little difficult because the plaza is smaller. I had Mexican Pizza... a toasted tortilla loaded with shredded chicken, fresh tomatoes, green and red onions, cheese, cucumber and parsley with sour cream and guacamole on the side for $10!! I ordered a Pinot Grigio which was was nice and full for only $4.25! Great Mexican music played in the background and the atmosphere took me back to my 30 years in CA where these kind of loving and food yummy restaurants were everywhere!! This place used to be where Mariachis was, a while ago. I ate lunch there yesterday, a Thursday, during lunch hours. It was not very busy at all. I got a table, chips and salsa, and my drink quickly. I ordered the lunch special of the day: a burrito with rice and refried beans. The burrito I ordered was chicken. It was stuffed with what seemed a full chicken breast, which was tender, and the dish was tasty. I put hot sauce on it, as I prefer caliente. I have to say this is my favorite Mexican food in the Akron area! My family is from Arizona and to say we miss good Mexican is an understatement. While Latino isn't perfect from home Mexican everything we tried, from chicken quesadillas to carnitas chimichangas and steak fajitas to the drinks was by far the best we've had out to eat in the last 3 years. This place is amazing!!!! Yesterday was my last day of the college semester and I was on the hunt for a big ol' drink. What's better than a piña colada in a pineapple!? They serve coleslaw with their chips and salsa which is surprisingly amazing. They offer both American Mexican, traditional Mexican, and Latin style foods. I've always wanted to try an arepa but chickened out and ordered tacos (maybe next time lol) with a side of pico that was SO. GOOD. My boyfriend got a steak smothered in cheese and chorizo that I'm pretty sure he's dreaming about right now. Some flan for desert really topped off our meal too! And not to mention there were about 4 tables around 8:30 when we were there and only ONE GUY working THE WHOLE restaurant who was incredibly on top of it!
