Stopped by El Meson in Cuyahoga Falls and had a really great experience. From the moment we walked in, the customer service stood out. We were seated right away, welcomed with chips, salsa, and water, and the staff remained attentive throughout our entire meal. Everyone was friendly, professional, and made us feel genuinely welcome. You could tell they have a great team environment, and it definitely shows in the way they treat their guests. We ordered the Jalapeño Pineapple Margarita and the frozen Octopus Margarita--both were delicious. We started with the guacamole, then had the Camarones al Ajillo and Camarones a la Diabla for our entrées. The portions were generous, everything came out fresh, and the prices were very reasonable. As someone who was born and raised in Mexico and is also a chef, I naturally have high expectations when it comes to Mexican food. While it's not the exact style of authentic Mexican cuisine I grew up with, I still enjoyed the meal for what it is. The flavors were good, and I felt the quality matched the price. More than anything, the hospitality made this place memorable. Great customer service can completely elevate a dining experience, and El Meson absolutely delivered. I've had so-so experiences with El Meson in the past, but this last experience was really great. I really wanted to try their new soft-serve margaritas, and they were wonderful! You can choose from mango, watermelon, or a mix, and I chose mango. They're super sweet, and the alcohol doesn't overpower them. I also ordered guacamole and shrimp fajitas. Both were prepared well and were super yummy. At the end of our meal, they gave my friend and me free shots! Overall, this was a very fun experience, and I'm really happy I went! read more

Ordered take out this evening. My husband and I decided to share the Pina Loca. The website description did not state that it came with rice, beans, or a salad (glad it did!), but also did not say that it was served in half of a pineapple. The taste was good, presentation was good, but the portion size was definitely not sufficient for two as advertised (my husband could've easily eaten this meal in its entirety in one sitting, but I will admit that he is a hefty eater!). For comparison, I usually get the chicken fajita and have a ton leftover. The Pina Loca was roughly 1/2 the portion size of a fajita (I scoped 1/2 of the pineapple filing onto my plate as you can see in the picture). We also ordered the kids meal with a beef taco, rice, and beans. These portion sizes were great! Lastly, we received one tiny container of salsa and about a half a bag of chips for our family of five (Other meals not pictured were: quesadilla and taco quesadilla combo). We got there around 9:00 and order drinks and appetizers and entrees. We got our drinks and appetizers no problem, but we waited an hour for the food and couldn't find our server so we asked another if we could get the food to go. Shortly after our server came to the table and set down the bills without saying a word. We were charged for the food we hadn't received and asked to speak to a manager, who never came to the table. About 10 minutes later our server dropped off the food in to go containers and cashed us out. Great spot for the typical American Style Mexican food. The atmosphere for dining in was amazing. The food is always so good. The chips & salsa, the burritos, the quesadillas, the margaritas. I haven't tried something I didn't like. Most recently I was seated out on the patio and they gave us free shots! The staff has been consistently friendly in my experience. Only downside of the patio is that it faces the parking lot, but that's just a result of the restaurant's location. Overall I would give El Meson 4.3/5 stars. For the life of us, we can't understand the popularity of this restaurant, as well as long wait times to be seated. Despite many having buzzers when tables were to be ready, a server was poaching those just walking in to immediately seat them at her tables, rather than wait for the host to do his job - leaving the rest of us to wait even longer. The food isn't that great. The "shredded chicken" we got was the same tiny pieces of dark meat you see in Asian fast food restaurants that are takeout only. The fajita had no spices. The salsa was good but chips tasted pre-made and not fresh. Quesadilla was simple and not bad. Seems like a bar with Mexican bar food. If you are there to imbibe and live close by, that could explain the popularity. Outdoor seating is nice with festive lights. Parking can get crowded during busy times. On my way to El Meson, I was having a conversation with my brother about whether to go to Pancho and Lefty's or here for the margaritas. I chose El Meson because I had such a good experience a week prior. The best part of my experience was the chips and salsa. On point!!! This review received 1 star because the only thing I ordered, a margarita at the bar, was made incorrectly. The margarita was wayyy to sweet; I only had about 3 sips. I asked for the bill and handed the margarita back to the waiter commenting it was too sweet Their solution was to present me with the bill and a new margarita. Guys, the solution should have been, "hey sorry, no charge for our mistake here." Not, waste your resources on another margarita which I didn't even touch. No offense guys, but respectfully, the solution isn't to give the guy another crappy margarita. Manager, if you're reading this, feel free to reach out and make this right. Otherwise, next time I'll go to Pancho & Lefty's. Their chips are just as good as yours. read more

I'm glad I stopped into this place today. I ordered the Fajitas Texanas, and it was a nice surprise when it came out. The dish was well seasoned, and I finally loved the portion size compared to other places. I just wish the pieces of meat were a little larger. The salsa was pretty good as well. El Meson, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways! What an adventure to get up to Peninsula/Cuyahoga Falls on Saturday! I felt like I was trying outrun a hurricane in South Carolina! But I made it! By the time I got to my friend's house, the hungry had set in for both of us! So my friend suggested Mexican. There were two places nearby to choose from, and we decided on El Meson. This was my first time here and it was very busy, which is a great sign! We lucked out and got a perfect parking space. Although the weather was clearing up and it was warm outside, we chose to sit at the bar instead of waiting on a table inside, or trusting Ohio weather to keep us dry at an outdoor table. I usually either get Al Pastor tacos or cheese enchiladas when I'm out at Mexican restaurants. I decided to get the Enchiladas Rancheras. My friend got the Vallarta Special with chicken. We each tried the others' food and we were both wowed by the Enchiladas Rancheras! The pork on top of the enchiladas was absolutely delicious! Just thinking about it now makes me want to drive back there and get another order! The Vallarta Special was also scrumptious. The white cheese melted on top went perfectly with chicken in the burrito! We also enjoyed their chips and salsa, as well as their frozen margaritas! Great mexican restaurant in cuyahoga! I have been there twice ; one for dine in and one for take out! Both times i throughly enjoyed my meal and the staff! I had the ultimate nachos with a raspberry margarita and they were both to die for! For takeout I had the taquito meal, it came with 2 chicken taquitos and 2 ground beef taquitos with quac and lettuce! They were cooked great! The food is pretty good, but I just can't bring myself to come here anymore. Because we are a party of 2, we always get sat in the bar area, which is insanely loud and always super busy. The problem is it's only one guy usually doing the section, and it makes it take forever. Today we waited 35 minutes once we got our bill just to try and pay it. We ended up tracking down someone else -we don't know if the server just forgot about us. The problem was he was super busy and we were in the way back corner so could never get his attention. This has happened a few times to us where we end up waiting forever after eating just trying to leave -usually waiting on a box or the bill. Soooooo... Ok sweet by their food. It ok, basic Mexican food. Their hospitality... I have no clue where it is. They aren't rude, they just don't seem to care. They check on you one maybe twice. Our server kept dodging us and wouldn't take our order for 30 minutes after we sat down. And it took about an hour and 15ish minutes for our food to come out. I love El Mason. It is great food, friendly service, and really low prices. I'm always surprised by how much food you get for the money. This restaurant is usually pretty busy, a testament to the great flavors and value, but there is rarely a wait. They recently remodeled, and added some outdoor seating. It hasn't opened yet being that it is winter, but I'm excited to check it out in the spring. Tonight I had the Pallida. Usually when get this other places, it is at least $20. Here it is $15, and tastes great and the meats are high quality. The (complimentary) chips and salsa are delicious. Everything I have ever had here has been great, and to be honest, even if it were just okay, the prices are such that I'd still be happy.
