We have been to this location 10+ times. The last 2 times we have been here, the service has gone downhill. It took over an hour and 20 minutes to get our food. The food (taco shells and meat were burnt). I would not recommend this place to anyone. This place will be closed in 2 years.

Fish and pork belly tacos

First time in this little place in Kent though now. I've been here twice. Both were great experiences with top service, food and beverage quality and flavors. Ambiance: definitely a cool college town vibe. Nice lighting sculptures. A bit of "día de los muertos" design, and contemporary concrete floors. Food: so many options from the make your own tacos. I particularly enjoyed the fish w cabbage and the pork belly. But it's great pick your protein, veggie add ons and sauces. Everything is fresh, flavorful and great use of spices. And you gotta try their guacamole! Drinks: so many speciality drinks. You can't go wrong with your choice or stick with the standard Mexican fav and get yourself a pitcher of margaritas to share with friends. Some fun flavors. Pomegranate and white peach is what we tried. Yep our quad group got 2 pitchers. Both drink and food menu items also have fun and creative names and combos. Service: both times we have friendly, attentive service. But I'm gonna focus on my last visit. I was recently diagnosed with multiple serious food allergies. And I cannot tell you how amazing the server and restaurant manager were to not only inquire ingredients in both food, premade sauces and drinks to assure I didn't get anything that may have had one of my allergens. Please don't come at me to say stay at home. Allergens do not preclude me from being a foodie, wanting a good time out with my hubby or friends, or the opp for someone else to cook. Back to the service. They were detailed and wrote my allergens down, checked w the cook and bartender and read labels. Came back to me and made menu suggestions and even adapted a drink so I could have one. I wish I could remeber the server and managers name (I waited too long to make this post). But THANK YOU! You guys allowed me to have a nice date night w my hubby. Relax and enjoy my meal. And left me confident that there'd be no contamination. I did NOT get sick as I have w some restaurants even when I do tell them. So I greatly appreciated your empathy and care. So if you have food allergies or want a tasty meal or "libation" check out Barrio

An example of the build your own tacos menu.

This was our first time visiting Cleveland, and after asking a local for some place good to eat, Barrios was an enthusiastic response. We arrived on Saturday, and with a line up out the door, we still got in within 20 minutes. Food has optio s for house/chef specials or build your own tacos. There are many protein choices, and vegan and gluten free. They use a simple checklist that you actually have to fill out, so bring your glasses, if you need them to read. The waitress was new, and didn't even bring us drinks we ordered, and wasn't very helpful with the selection process, but we still enjoyed the experience. It's in a university neighborhood so the patrons are mostly young, and there is an energy in the air there. Loved the food, hope we can see more places like this back home. Cheers.

Dortmunder beer cheese, watermelon Water-Malone Guacamole, Queso Chorizo Chips. Sassy pineapple.

My wife and I visited on a trip thru Kent. First thing we noticed was Psychedelic Furs, big plus. Good music, it's needed to enjoy even better food. My wife got the sampler with Dortmunder beer cheese, chorizo queso and watermelon guacamole. All were very solid, but the guacamole took 1st place. Outstanding. Drinks included had just the right touch of sour and sweetness. Personally I'm a neutral on margaritas, but sassy pineapple made me a believer. Our waitress was so kind and personable. Will not hesitate to come back for more!!

Bad customer service

EDIT: their customer service is literally propagating the problem I complained about below. Manager asked me to message her, I told her I had no expectations for previous visits. It took her 4 days to reply to THAT and just asked me what my email was. It's been two weeks since and no email or phone call. Why wait 4 days to ask for my email then just not even bother to use it? absolutely laughable. No concept of timeliness. Literally the problem I complained about. All of it is just for show to make it seem like they care. ORIGINAL: Barrio's food is absolutely amazing. HOWEVER... the numerous times I've gone I've never had a warm meal except once. Nearly every time I've gone (even during COVID) I've had to wait anywhere between 40 mins to an hour after ordering just to get my food. I literally don't understand it, I've worked in several restaurants and this is just mind blowing to me how consistent the experience is. There was a time we saw our food waiting in the window but our waitress seemed more preoccupied flirting with other tables to notice. We waited almost 20 minutes after that before she realized our food was sitting there. The manager ended up giving us refunds which was nice but holy shit people. The only thing keeping them afloat is that once you get your food your negative feelings and emotions will generally always evaporate. But it sucks and for that reason I don't care how good the food is. I write this review in hopes management becomes aware of whatever logistics problems they may be facing. I'd like to see Barrio improve. EVEN on door dash. I kept my phone open to watch the order, hoping maybe delivery would be different. On a Sunday at 6 PM, it took over an hour before Barrio made the notion to update my door dash order.

This was my hot as cluck taco.

The food is good here but it is inconsistently good. I have had great experiences where I throughly enjoy my food and times when I have received. I had a great experience with the manager who took care of my problem and gave me a new taco but I was glared at by my server for not wanting cold food. So like I said it is inconsistent sometimes the service and food is absolutely stellar and sometimes you have a server glaring death eyes at you because he gave you cold food.

Enjoyed lunch at this place, inside the restaurant. We each ordered 2 tacos and all différents : From chickens, steak to vegetarians. They have the paper to fill up for you to make your own tacos ($3 each) and you can be as creative as you want. We also ordered drinks, margaritas with different flavors. We were not disappointed with the food and the service was good. The creation of your own makes it really fun and personal! The place got loud pretty fast and is a little dark. But really nice taco place I would recommend.

For whatever reason, tacos sounded like the perfect comfort meal after braving the airport. I stepped into Barrio on a weekday afternoon and if I didn't know any better, I would have thought they were closed based on the quiet street and customers inside. There were 6-7 other guests in the restaurant but beyond the music, it was very chill in there. I took a seat at the bar and I was promptly greeted by a nice guy behind the counter. He explained the taco ordering process to me, showing me the order form and even sharing his personal favorites. I love the ordering form! It's cool to see all of the options in one spot, the choices were extensive. I decided to go with 1 specialty taco, the La Tierra, 1 chicken taco and 1 steak taco. I also got a side order of guacamole and pico de gallo. I'm so bummed that I don't remember the second sweet guy who assisted me, I believe it started with a D. He was the sweetest! About 15 minutes after I ordered, he came back with his hands full of bags. We both looked at each other and laughed because, why did y'all give me all of these bags?! LOL. Turns out they bagged each item separately (paper bag and a plastic bag). I felt so greedy omg. I had to quickly rebag it all before I walked out, lol. My tacos were delicious! Albeit, a little soggy due to the sauces I requested to have on them. The guacamole and pico were also delicious but a bittttt too salty and limey. I usually like my guac and pico with a little extra kick, but I could have done with one less dash of salt and one less squeeze of lime, lol. Either way - it was a really great meal and experience overall.

It took a while for our order to come but they prompt with getting us refills on the chips and salsa. I ordered a couple of the El Jefe Specials - El Jefe Loco and Crunchy Chipotle Chicken and a build your own - pulled pork and chorizo for protein, pico de gallo and corn salsa with chipotle crema and mango habenero sauces. The tacos were huge and scrumptious would be an understatement. It was a taco version of sloppy joes that makes you feel warm and fuzzy! Always loved Barrio for their tacos and margaritas. You cannot go wrong here.

Taqueria 304 - Loaded nachos

I want to lead with the best here: the bartender/server here provided some of the best service I have experienced in the last few years. So many people have come to expect poor service (including myself) that positive experiences like this really serve as a wake-up call to what the dining experience ought to be like. Kudos to Taqueria 304 for hiring the best! I can't omit the excellent food and stellar plate presentation either. My friend and I both got the loaded nachos as our entrees and they were as delicious as they were beautiful. As for the drinks, plenty of beers on tap and in bottles to suit your needs, particularly of the Mexican variety (fitting). Ambiance is nice with some clever furnishings, like the sideways doors carpentered to serve as an entryway wall. One thing I will mention is that open-concept establishments tend to have noise issues and this place is no exception; even still, my friend and I were able to hear each other on this occasion (no promises when the place is full). Parking here can be challenging due to all the construction currently happening in the area though there are spots available on both sides of the street which ought to be enough at most times of the day. All things considered, Taqueria 304 is a welcome addition to the area and I hope they stick around for a long time to come! Overall: 4.5 stars ---- Pros: - Outrageously good service, that needs to be commended in a world where such service is increasingly rare. - Excellent food with a skilled eye for presentation. - Great draft/bottle beer selection. - Pleasant ambiance with clever furnishings. Cons: - Open-concept spots can have noise issues, though it wasn't too bad during our visit. - Parking is tough but still available.

Crave Cantina - Trio of salsa with chips

I've come back here a couple of times since my previous review, including a recent visit. Friends…read morewanted to go out for a last minute dinner, and I wanted to be able to make a reservation. Crave Cantina had openings, and booking online was easy. I was a little surprised to see how empty the restaurant was on a Saturday night at 7 pm. The bar was totally empty and maybe half of the tables were occupied. One big difference I noticed was that the drink menu was significantly reduced and a lot less interesting. However, the margarita and sangria I had were both good. We started with a large order of chips, the salsa trio, and a plain guacamole. This was outstanding. Everything tasted so fresh, and I appreciated that the salsas actually tasted different (a red smooth salsa; a chunky, black bean salsa; and a salsa verde). I was feeling pretty basic and ordered a quesadilla with steak and a side of refried beans. The quesadilla was what I wanted, the steak was tender, and it had great flavor from the chimichurri marinade. The beans were not good. They were made with meat and there were tons of stringy pieces of beef. Dry and not creamy. The quesadilla was so filling, though, that I actually didn't care. My biggest complaint this time around isn't related to anything that happened during our meal. I find it kind of off-putting that the taco menu just . . . doesn't change. While I appreciate that now you can get burritos or the aforementioned quesadilla, I wish there were more appealing choices. I'm from Louisiana and I'm just never going to order an alligator taco. Some of the combinations (like that one) seem wacky for the sake of it, and I feel that choice--while trend driven for sure--is feeling a bit dated in 2023. I will say, though, that I appreciate the amount of veg and vegan options. This most recent meal was probably the best over-all experience I've had at the cantina. Service had been an issue here before, but our server was great. The right balance of attentive but not smothering us (we enjoyed appetizers and drinks before ordering). This isn't my favorite restaurant, but we had a great experience, and that merits a new, better rating.
