Fabulous little local Mexican restaurant tucked away in the back of a busy shopping plaza with plenty of seating, a nice little patio and a bar putting out great cocktails. We went for an impromptu birthday dinner, ordering the basics, but damn they were full of spicy flavor, truly delicious. I had the huevos rancheros with rice, the ranchero sauce was spicy and delicious, love it! My sisters ordered the chicken burritos with a black sauce, she kept saying it was the best order she had at any restaurant. This Tlaquepaque location has been in the area for years. There is parking in the front as well as the back. The front parking area can be quite tight if you have a larger vehicle especially on busier days. It was great to be quickly seated upon entry, but waited a while for drink order including ordering. The restrooms were well upkept and trendy with tile and mosaics. The tables, chairs, walls, and other decor are eye catching and detailed. As far as the menu, there is something for everyone and all ages. I should've taken a picture of the dessert menu full of unique Mexican desserts. During this visit, I tried TAMPIQUEÑO 12oz T-bone steak, rice, beans, & salad- $22. The steak had a lovely smoked flavor and the cilantro added a special touch. Tlaquepaque has some of the best Mexican food in Canton--the flavors are fresh, authentic, and full of life. Every dish we tried was spot-on, and the portions were generous. The margaritas are also strong... maybe a little too strong, but if you're looking for a good pour, you'll find it here. The downside was the service. It was very slow, even though the restaurant wasn't overly busy at the time. Drinks and food took much longer than expected, and it made the overall experience less enjoyable than it could have been. Still, the food quality alone makes it worth a visit, and if the service improves, this could easily be a 5-star spot. My fiancée and I tried this place for lunch. It Was a nice place but I ordered the quesadillas and the waiter brought me a taco, I complained but they still said it was a quesadilla and looks absolutely nothing like what other Mexican restaurant serves. This was a taco. Service was good our waiter checked on us often, but he didn't speak good English so communication was a bust. EL Camps is where it's at. The food was good and the atmosphere decent but my wife ordered quesadillas for lunch but what the waiter brought was a taco. We even googled pics of quesadillas and her dish looked nothing like the pics nor like other restaurants' quesadillas we've had. They insisted it was a quesadilla so we dropped it. They have a coupon in the Entertainment book that clearly states "buy one dinner get one free" BUT THEN LIMITS the meal to only cost $5! There are NO meals on their menu that only cost $5! It is misleading and deceptive. We each ordered an entree but only got $5 off one of the meals, it was not free. They should just say $5 off of $25 and be done with it instead of choosing to use the bait-and-switch for their coupons. The rice was very simple without vegetables added. The tacos and quesadilla were good. But I will not return because of the free meal offer being a total scam. read more

CAUTION VEGETARIANS! For the record, I am not a vegetarian. I'm an everythingtarian. I'll try everything at least once! I went here with my sweet mother for lunch yesterday, because we had been here a couple times, a long time ago, and really liked it. I remember their beans were really good, because they add some bacon fat/bacon grease to them. Yummy! Bacon makes everything taste better, even your man's stanky breath. Anyway, long story short, I never thought twice about the bacon fat/bacon grease in the beans. Because... why would I? Tastes delish and I eat bacon. No biggie. But yesterday I ordered from the vegetarian menu. No, don't worry, I've not been inducted into the cult. I just didn't feel like eating meat. Sue me. Anyway, my dish contained a cheese enchilada (No bueno. The corn tortilla was soft and mushy. Ick!), a bean burrito (DELISH! Especially because the beans have that bacon fat/bacon grease added!), and a cheese quesadilla (average). But then it hit me... wait a minute. Is it REALLY vegetarian if the beans have bacon fat/bacon grease in them? I know that it wouldn't be vegan (especially with the cheese! Haha!), but I thought vegetarians only really allowed themselves cheese and eggs as animal products and stayed away from anything that came from the flesh/death of a full grown animal. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe it's okay. Please let me know. But I thought I would let all the vegetarians know that it ain't just cheese from an animal you're getting if you order beans or something with beans inside. read more

Pronounced "la- k-pa-k" (Yes, I asked). We've been by here so many times but never stopped in and I'm so glad we finally tried it! Our server was fantastic. Super friendly, very knowledgeable and brought everything with such speed and precision! We started with cheese dip and it was super yummy- it's got diced jalapeños in it, which I loved. I ordered the carne asada with diced tomatoes and no pico (I hate cilantro). It was phenomenal. Super flavorful and a generous amount of food. My husband ordered the cheese enchiladas but wasn't as happy with his food. He said there was so much on top (onions/peppers/etc) and not enough cheese in the enchiladas. My boys each got the nuggets with fries and loved them. I liked that they brought them separate bowls with a packet of ranch (not every Mexican place has ranch). There were six Dino nuggets and a huge portion of fries. Overall I was impressed and will definitely come back! The only negative I can say is the parking lot. It's sooooo tight and not easily maneuvered. read more

I don't have any photos but this place was excellent!!! Took my grandson here before going to the movies. Husband had enchiladas supreme, grandson had fajitas and I had a burrito. Everything was good, mostly polished off but if I had to recommend anything I would say try the cheese dip w/chorizo (appetizer)... and don't leave without sharing a fried ice cream - tell them no chocolate sauce but you'd rather have honey!!! Always a good meal here. Comes out hot every time and service is fast. Usually busy but that doesn't seem to be a problem for them as we always get our food quick, beverages stay full and everything is hot and delicious. Nice decor in the restaurant as well. My husband and I ate here recently. I absolutely love Mexican cuisine. It's my favorite. However, our service was less than stellar. It was very slow, and they were not even really busy. My other issue was the food was less than stellar. It was okay. But I was missing some of my food. The restaurant was nice but we weren't greeted upon walking in, this was our first time so we were a little confused. But it was nice and wasn't super loud like some. I'd like to give it more stars but I can't. Let me start off with the positive. The Mexican food is pretty good and I prefer it over El Camp's. The tortillas chips look and taste fresh and crisp. The salsa is good as well. The staff is friendly The bad. We had gnats flying around our food. I realize bugs can be a problem but it's now winter and those gnats have most likely been living there for a while now. Fix the gnat problem. Secondly,I've ordered food for my daughter multiple times from the kids menu and she won't eat it and I don't blame her. The fries are good but the pizza and cheeseburger that they sell is abysmal. I don't imagine the chicken nuggets or corn dog is any better. They should be embarrassed to sell these items. It seems very obviously prepackaged frozen food that they microwave. If I wanted cheap processed food, I know where to buy it. read more

There's nothing inherently special about the food here. It's good, we have no complaints, it's just solid food. But the last 2 times we have been here, the service has been PAINFULLY slow. I know restaurants in particular seem to struggle to keep/staff enough servers, but the place was not busy, there were servers standing around, and we waited a LONG time for food, a LONG time for our check and boxes, a LONG time to have our check picked up. It was unnecessary and will probably influence our decision next time we want Mex food. read more

Food is horrible. It's all premade and microwaved no taste to the meat in the burritos. I also had an pork enchilada that that doughy and under cooked the pork was dried up from the microwave. Beans were watery, Spanish rice was dry. You might be safe with the fajitas. This is just like El recon, cheap premade microwaved Mexican food. Just ask yourself how did you get your food this quick?
