this is a great place to get authenthic mexican food, i had the fajita burrito, it was fantastic. chips and salsa and queso were tasty as well, i left with a full belly! The Bartender Amber, was fast with our drinks, always kept them filled, never had to ask her to refill them. She was nice and funny and catered to our every need. this was my first time sitting inside in the upstairs bar, the enviroment was clean, friendly, fun. Haley was unprofessional and the rudest wait staff I have ever encountered. She became hostile with me when I politely requested a fresher version of the slimy cilantro I was served. She literally threw a plate of unwashed, uncut cilantro on our table as she walked past. Owners should be embarrassed to have her on staff. However, after seeing many similar reviews as well as health code violations, it is evident no one here cares about safety of diners, quality, proper food handling, or hospitality. Terrific view of the lake. Def 5 stars for ambiance! The service was up to par. Our Paloma and marg were tasty. However we waited nearly an hour for three plates. One was the ceviche, which we asked to have as an appetizer but it was brought out as an entree. A little misunderstanding probably because it is menued as an entree. But it was basically a soup for all intents and purposes. Some shrimp swimming in what seemed to be their house salsa. I didn't enjoy this take on ceviche and I ended up boxing the bulk of it to take home and drain and repurpose. The fish tacos were really good. The carne asada came out not only with the meat cold, but the corn tortillas were straight out of the package. No steaming or grill time or anything to soften them or heat them up. I've never had them served this way and do prefer them grilled or steamed a little. May try them again on another night since the view was nice and sometimes a kitchen is just having an off night. read more

We came right after they opened a few years back and had some crazy dinners (for which they adequately compensated us with free food and bonus drinks). They have really gotten it together now with consistent good food, wonderful staff and gorgeous views of the lake and boats. Five stars from me! Boat parking was easy and obviously a great view. Once we were seated, we saw several servers look our way then quickly turn around and walk away. Q5 minutes later, one of us finally went up to the hostess to ask id we would be getting a server Nd maybe some waters to start. We ended up ordering food and drinks at the same time because of how long it took for anyone to come to our table. For a party of 13, food came out in two rounds of 5 plates. But then 3 were missing. The manager came out to help straighten it out and we finally got all the food. As a whole, we all said we enjoyed our meal. It was definitely middle of the road quality Mexican. Check please! Now, I will say the service was pretty slow and it's the only reason I'm giving 4 stars. The food was really good! They list their mojitos at $10 and try to charge $11.99 when they drop off the bill. this happened on two separate visits. The second time I mentored that it had happened on both of our recent visits and that they should update the menus. Our server insisted "but I changed it" in a very rude tone multiple times not seeming to grasp that the dishonesty was our concern. Well I'm going to have to give it 5 stars as it saved my evening. We were to meet friends and their kids at the Smoke on the Water for dinner and take them on a boat ride. We arrived an hour early, docked the boat and after getting in queue for a table was tons 15 minutes before seating that they ran out of good. Ok, but who planned that out. Run out of food at 4 on Father's Day at the lake? So we called the Blue Iguana and asked how they were going. They said come on down, they could seat 6. Now I had never been there under the new restaurant, a few years before it was bad food and sticky carpet. But when we arrived we were seated inside, place was remodeled and looked good. It was 530 and the staff was a bit tired but attentive. Now unless you are in San Antonio to me most Mexican food is about the same and aside from generous portions this held true. But after 6 entrees, 6 drinks and two appetizers the total was $110.00 and that to me was more than reasonable. So they saved the evening and I'll try them again when I'm in the lake. read more

We've been here 3 times this spring because the first 2 times were fabulous experiences. The food was excellent and generous portions yet the prices are quite good. Finally! A really good restaurant on the Lakes! We've lived in the Lakes for over 16 years and been completely underwhelmed by the options during that time. Blue Iguana even offered decent service and the Margueritas were decent. However, Taco Tuesday on May 31 was a disappointment. While the price can't be beat, I guess you get what you pay for. Basically we got nearly empty taco shells, literally a dribble of well seasoned meat, a few shreds of lettuce and large helping of plain, seasoned rice. The menu described including beans but none of us got any beans and when we asked about it, the waitress told us she would get some then never came back except to bring the checks. The wait staff on our first 2 visits were good, and to be fair, the outside deck was packed on May 31, so the staff was busy. I hope this is an aberration and not the type of food and service that can be expected going forward. We've had delicious quesadillas on the quesadillas special on a Wednesday, very well seasoned and mine was packed with shrimp. The burrito bowl was a flavorful option at our first visit. We plan to give them at least 1 or 2 more tries and will review again. Personally, I'd prefer to pay the regular price for the food to get the actual dish and not just a tease of flavor without any substance.
