Excellent view of Portage Lake from the patio! Delicious food and a variety of items to choose from on the menu. Fun drinks too! The appetizers we ate were delicious. Ate the perch dinner for my entree; 3 piece and it was cooked perfectly. My spouse ate the cheeseburger and liked the fact he could order it medium rare. All the food items were very fresh. Four of us decided to have dinner at The Ramp. Destiny was a nice server. Beer selection is fair. The gin martini was good. The restaurant decor was nice but can be cold when there is only a few diners present. Sometimes this is typical at the lakes during winter. We had hoped a Friday night would be busier. The TV's was off line and can be distracting when there are so many. The 16 oz cowboy ribeye was very good and the side risotto was great but a small serving for extra $3 upgrade. My friend and her baby and my baby and I went here for dinner. It was busy for a Tuesday, and a couple groups sneaked their way in front of us (with babies and strollers we were off to the side and maybe they didn't realize we were waiting to get to the hostess too). It was fine however, because once we talked to the staff, they did help us to secure a table. They ran out of high chairs, so we had to share just one and hold the other baby. The kind and warm hearted staff made up for it though. We had a very sweet and patient server. Food was pretty good. We both had the perch and I loved it. Sat ourselves and waited over 15 minutes for anyone to acknowledge that we were there. No "I'll be with you in a minute" or "can I start you off with water". Our order was taken and when our food arrived, my wife's BLT had 3 strips of bacon! Didn't even cover the whole sandwich. My wedge salad looked like it was made 6 hours ago or the day before. First time to the Ramp. Love that it's right on the lake. We were seated promptly on the outside deck with a nice view. Our server Sarah and Jameson who she was training were very helpful and answered all our questions. As my cousin was on a gluten free diet. Sarah brought her a special gluten free menu. I ordered the lamb lollipops which were melt in your mouth delicious with a small spinach salad equally wonderful. My cousin had a hamburger without the bun and gluten free fries. They were the best fries ever so crisp and tasty. We topped the meal off with wonderful deserts that included a gluten free lava cake! A special treat they had an entertainer Jim Nye who is a wonderful singer. His mellow voice added to the ambiance of blue skies with puffy clouds and a nice breeze off the lake. Understaffed, under managed, and the food is subpar Sysco frozen food. My wife's tenderloin medallions were comparable to a hamburger station burger with no bun and my scrod was drenched in 1lb of butter which is all you could taste. It was like liking a stick of butter. Drinks??......stick to beer or wine, something that can not be screwed up. Bottom line is that it is a great location, great atmosphere, that should be selling bar food instead of trying to pass for a fine dining restaurant. We love the food at The Ramp! It's always been good each and every time we've been there. Today we went for lunch about 1:00. It was very hot out, but we still wanted to be outside, just not in the sun. So we got a table on the covered deck part. For a lunch on a weekday with very few people there, it was terribly loud. Three bar patrons (young men), were talking and yelling so loud, I couldn't even hear the music on the jukebox. It was annoying. There is another problem that I want to draw the owner's attention to. The markings in the parking lot are awful! I know they are new, but we drive on the right here in the USA. That entrance/exit is going to cause a major accident! The in and out arrows are on the wrong side! Also we used a handicapped space because my husband is disabled. One requirement to get a handicap placard, is to not be able to walk 200ft. By changing where your spaces are with the new lot striping, you basically negated it being a handicapped spot. Our service was great, but I felt that it was important to tell you this. read more

After a day of kayaking in the portage lakes, we wanted to try a restaurant we hadn't been to previously and decided to try the ramp. Because of the pandemic, they have limited capacity so we had to wait ten minutes or so before being seated. During our wait, I took at look at their yelp reviews and to be honest, almost left to go somewhere else after reading them. We decided to stay and try it, and I'm really glad we did. It's pretty obvious the bad reviews are a result of some kind of personal grudge and not a reflection of the restaurant. They should be removed. We were seated outside and had a great view of the water. We had a few apps and then entrees, and everything was delicious. The fried Brussels sprouts were AMAZING as were the pretzels. Our server was extremely kind and the service was fast. We will definitely be back! read more

I would give this place 0 stars if possible. I would like to begin with stating that I have worked as a server in fine dining for 5+ years. My family came here for a birthday dinner for my twin brother and I. Our drinks were fantastic as well as appetizers, although half the mussels were unopened. When it came time for our entree, half of our meals were not what we ordered. When we asked to have our meals fixed, we were told that the meals couldn't be fixed to our liking (mind you we have a party of 8 and 3/4 of us got 50 dollar plates). When we eventually decided to go somewhere else, because we couldn't get what we ordered, we were told we must pay for our entrees that not a single person at the table touched. When we refused to pay for the food we DIDN'T order, the manager then called the police, which ended in our party paying for our drinks and apps, which was what we asked for in the first place, and left. I would recommend The Ramp if you want food that's incorrect, poor service, and the police called on our family dinner. read more

Such a shame that a restaurant in a great location holds themselves to such an abhorrently low standard. We came for a birthday celebration, waited 30 minutes for water, and then when our 4/8 of our dinners came out incorrectly the manager refused to have a discussion on how to make it right. Astoundingly, the manager called the police and threatened us with a civil suit when we said we'd like to pay for our drinks and appetizers and eat somewhere else because the service was so poor. We have tried to get in to this place a couple times now and have been unable due to a variety of reasons but today on our way home from fishing we got in. Wait time was slow as they have serious staffing issues it appears. Was told 10 minutes after already standing for 10 minutes at the hostess stand. Sitting on the patio over the lake was nice. Better than sitting inside. Sauerkraut balls were very good as was the fried pickles. Kids had a grilled cheese which they enjoyed. Ahi tuna wrap was good but don't really think it needed feta inside. Wife had an avocado chicken wrap and it was probably the driest and worst thing I've eaten all weekend long. We heard some really great things about this place but just kind of mediocre. read more

Kudos to the staff at The Ramp today. We were there with a large group today for a wonderful lunch and experience. We were greeted at the front door and welcomed where our tables were ready. Each of us already had full glasses of water waiting. A couple of waitresses took our orders. The wait for our food was short. Everything came out hot and everyone's meal looked so good. I had the battered fish and it was hot and crispy, and good. A couple of people ordered the BLT's and I will definitely be trying that next time. They looked really good. Just wanted to say hats off for the fast and efficient staff both in taking care of us and preparing our food. Wouldn't hesitate going back with a large group again. read more

What a mess. Menu says Bikini Martini has a coconut sugar rim. The one I got did not have the sugar. The Pirate Punch says it is served with a fruit garnish. Again, no. The only gluten free item listed is a cauliflower crust pizza. I asked the waitress if anything else on the menu could be modified. She said "no". Really ? They have salads , chicken, fish, but they can't make them GF? The topper is their Vegetarian Pizza. With sausage. And bacon. And ham. And pepperoni. The chicken Parmesan was good. Be patient w servers as they're short staffed but friendly. 9" Gluten-free pizza is cauliflower and pretty good (thin per usual gf, not too crispy and definitely not dry). Staying in the area for a few days and found this restaurant on a list of recommendations. Arrived to find the parking lot pretty full. Went in and gave our name at the hostess stand for a party of two; we were not told approximately how long the wait would be. One other couple was waiting to be called. Things got very unorganized at that point and people that came in after us were seated ahead of us. The hostess disappeared for a while and then the bartender came over to help the growing crowd. It was chaos. We were finally seated after a long wait and lots of confusion. Once seated, the wait staff was polite. The food was not memorable or worth the wait. I love the fact this restaurant is so close and the view is amazing. This is my second night in less than a week that I've ordered the ahi tuna. I asked for it on the rare side since the other day it was over cooked and this is my rarest piece. They were out of the sauce for the tuna and had I of known that I would have changed my order. I also used to love the mushroom risotto and am now questioning where the mushrooms are. My dad had the rueben and it was dry and lacking substance. The fried fish was enjoyed and the pretzels were perfect. The waitress at the table was polite. Service at the bar was ridiculously slow. so disappointing. read more

first time in... my daughter and i were kayaking out of the old state park and just decided we're are STARVING... so finally giving the ramp a try, as i am soooo not taking her to most of the waterfront places on the lakes at dinner time! with that said, absolutely AMAZING staff, delicious foods and very yummy prices! if you LOVE cheese, i definitely suggest the pizza (not in the photo as she went straight to town!) or the salmon. We visited The Ramp one beautiful afternoon to enjoy their outdoor seating. The deck is right on the water and you can either drive or many other places in the lakes, dock your boat to go to the restaurant. We had an order of jumbo bone in wings and a couple burgers. The wings were excellent - crispy on the outside and just the right amount of heat. The Ramp burger was good - maybe a little dry, but had good flavor. The standout though was the fresh cut fries on the side - a cross between a fry and a jojo. I could eat those every day! The drink menu is unique - very appropriately lake themed. I don't know what kind of ginger beer they used, but that Moscow Mule was the best I've ever had. This is such a fun place - do not go if you are in a rush. The Ramp is a place to sit back and enjoy with great friends. read more

Not the good wow, the I can not believe how awful it was wow! -Nothing to drink on table for the first 45 minutes. -Bottle of wine comes to table unopened. Had to wait another 15 mins for someone to open. -Ordered mussels...half of them did not open and could not be eaten. Told server, no offer to make it right. -Dinners ordered. Entree salads never came. Dinners came to table and 1/2 of them were wrong. -Asked to see Manager/ Owner. We said we wanted to pay for our apps (mussels which we could only eat half of) and our beverages. She was the most rude person I have ever had the displeasure of speaking to and informed us that we had to pay for the whole dinner or she would call the police!! -She did call the police (which we said go right ahead). After the sherif spoke with us and her, the owner brought us a check for our apps and drinks and were asked to not come back! Happily we paid and agreed to NEVER EVER go back! -Do yourself a favor and avoid this place! ***This is the first bad review I have ever given to any business. read more

I just don't understand why they won't make certain sandwiches as wraps. We didn't go for a year and a half because of it, then decided to try again, but the cook "Tim" won't do it. Went last Saturday with too high of expectations. We arrived at 6:30pm, and we received our dinner at 8:15pm. It wasn't even that busy, but it took almost an hour and a half to get our food after ordering. We all ordered drinks, but it took forever to get a second round. Our waitress walked past our table a number of times without even checking on us. We called her over finally, and gave us an attitude. I had a Marina Mule which was tasty, despite the service. After waiting 45 minutes for our appetizers (sauerkraut balls and crispy Brussel sprouts), the waitress brought out mozzarella sticks as a "complimentary appetizer" because they were behind in the kitchen. Our apps finally arrived, and the Brussel sprouts were pretty good. They were very lightly breaded, which was nice. Now the dinner... we could have gone home before our dinner came out. For some of us, that would have been better than waiting for what we received. Two people in our group ordered the Classic Margarita "Pizza" ---- Avoid if you want something else besides bread for dinner. This was absolutely awful. I think they are trying to be fancy with their pizza, but it doesn't even match the description on the menu. There were about 4-5 small pieces of mozzerella, just a little bit of tomato and basil, and there was very garlic basil sauce (as the description states). Between both pizzas, they were exactly the same. The manager came over and asked if we wanted to have another one made, but we didn't even want to eat it. They kindly took it off our bills, but I really hope they decide to stick to normal pizza, or don't label it as that. This was gross. Someone else in our group got the burger and said it was pretty good. Completely disappointed by our experience at this place, but we are going to give it a second try (without getting the pizza). The staff needs to work out these kinks if it plans on being a success. Maybe we will just go for a drink and sit outside with the beautiful view of the lake. read more

Love the view. The patio is top notch, lots of TVs too in case anyone in your group wants to keep an eye on the game during drinks/meal. We've enjoyed this place twice now. When they first opened the service was a little shaky but it has improved greatly. We had a good late lunch with great drinks. The Bloody Mary and Rum Drinks our group had were very good. The Clam Chowder was good but could be better. I had high expectations. I split a white pizza with my wife and we both thought it was very good. The theme on the interior dining room is really cool too. So this will be a great place to dine all year long. read more
