    Southwest chicken wrap and fries.
    Marti C.

Wanted dinner by the water and this place delivers on the view with multiple decks, each closer to the lake. Menu felt very limited and basic. Someone said there was new owners, no idea. They were out of a lot of the beers, which felt odd for a thursday. I ended up with a rum runner and my husband got some local brew he did not like. Said it was hoppy and bitter. We started with nachos which was just canned cheese, chicken pieces and jalapeño. Chips were a bit stale but we were hungry so we ate it. I ordered the southwest chicken wrap. It was decent but nothing special. It surpringly had little flavor. The "salsa" had no seasoning, nary an onion, jalapeno, cilantro piece or even salt. I was singing "white people taco night" my head. What was amazing was the house made ranch. I would get that by the gallon. Husband had the turkey Cobb, which he said was really good. Two best things about this place was the view and our server. She was amazing!!

Took the LUST Akron promo team to the Upper Deck again last Friday and again it was an awesome experience. Manny delivered great service at the main bar. We had a bomb pepperoni pizza and tried a few of their custom cocktails. The vibe and live music made for a fun evening. We will definitely be returning.

This is a local dive bar on the water and checks all those boxes well. Just went on a Friday afternoon in February so it was not crowded. Two indoor bar areas and an unusual layout giving great character. There are 3 outdoor bar areas and a number of patio levels that were not open as it is winter. Has picnic tables outside in the summer. The are docks for your boat. 11 draft handles mostly domestics with a few craft options. A number of bottle options again mostly domestic. Standard bar food which was done well. Bartender was excellent.

Came here after a recent weekend round of golf in the area...wanted to sit outside on a nice weather day but for some reason the patio space was closed. Luckily, we found a booth in the corner so we felt comfortable from a COVID-19 social distancing perspective. Servers were friendly and mostly attentive, took our orders and brought drinks. One small comment...I ordered a glass of tap water and it had a bit of a sulfur taste to it, like well water...might want to skip next time and get a pop, beer or something else. For lunch I ordered the fried buffalo chicken grilled cheese...it was an unusual combo / name given the fact it was listed as a grilled cheese sandwich as it was not actually in the form of what you'd typically expect from a grilled sandwich, but was decent enough containing a piece of fried chicken breast topped with gooey cheeses and tangy buffalo sauce on a Kaiser bun. The onion rings were fried to crispy, but the breading disintegrated as soon as it touched my tongue. With an open patio overlooking the nearby Portage lake, this would be an okay spot to hang out for a bite and a drink while the world sailed by.

There's a BIG problem with this restaurant/bar that I never paid attention to and I'm going to address it after I review the food. First of all, I love The Upper Deck! I've been here several times and no matter if it's for a night out with friends listening to live music, or it's for a casual lunch while looking out at the lake, it's always going to be a fun time! Let's get to the food first. My kids, my mom, my aunt, my ex-husbeast, and myself went out to lunch here the other day. I ordered the Tidal Wave burger, which is their quarter pound ground chuck burger with a fried crab cake, Swiss cheese and "Boom Boom" sauce. The lettuce, tomato, red onion, and pickle slices come on the side. The bun is nicely toasted. You do not get French fries or any other sides with your burger, but you do get a dill pickle spear. Believe me, you don't need sides! It's so filling, I couldn't even finish it! This burger was delicious, but it was quite salty. I put the veggies provided on it to help balance it out. I tasted the crab cake by itself and it's very buttery and rich. Combined with the Swiss cheese and the "Boom Boom" sauce (which has a kick, but is not spicy), if you didn't put the veggies on, I think it would be almost too much. However, the veggies really helped make the burger complete! My only issue was the saltiness. I happen to like salty food, but if you are watching your salt intake, I would be mindful of ordering this, or I would tell your waitress to pass this info onto the chef. Some of the other meals ordered were the chicken stuffed peppers, which my ex-husbeast enjoyed! I tried a bite and I thought they were very good! They are a bit spicy, so if you are a lover of hot foods, this may be your dish! Two people in our party ordered the Baja Crab Cakes, which are the buttery rich fried crab cakes I spoke about earlier. This dish is balanced out by being placed atop a bed of mixed green and covered with black bean and corn salsa, as well as "Boom Boom" sauce. I tried them, as well, and it was a very tasty dish! I really like the black bean and corn salsa! It adds a nice southwestern flair to the dish. Now that we got the food out of the way, let's have a chat about something that's pretty important. It may not be important to most people, and to be honest, I never thought about it until my mom had to start using a wheelchair. There is not a single handicapped parking space in the parking lot. Additionally, there is no disability access whatsoever. My mother struggled to get up the stairs to the only entrance available for us to dine at this restaurant. If she was unable to get out of her wheelchair, we would not have been able to eat there. For those amongst us that are absolutely confined to a wheelchair, you will be unable to eat here. The Upper Deck is violating the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which requires restaurants to be handicapped accessible. A restaurant is a place of public accommodation and is subject to the ADA's accessibility standards. This information may not be important to you, the consumer, right now. But you never know when it will be. You never know what could happen to you or your friends or a member of your family that would require wheelchair access to the entrance or a handicapped designated parking space. And they say most people end up with some type of disability, whether temporary or permanent, whether caused by illness, injury, or old age. At some point in time this will matter to you, and it's important for you to be able to have the freedom to maneuver around public spaces. In any case, if you are able-bodied and you don't know or love anyone that has a disability, and you don't mind giving your money to a business that violates the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), they do have good food and fun events! I'm giving them two stars because I feel that it's important that everyone should have equal access to public spaces and I should not have to break my back to get my mother and her wheelchair up the stairs in order for us to have a nice lunch together. Otherwise, I would've given them 3-4 stars.

Lots of parking. Tons of outdoor seating. Food is mediocre. Staff are friendly and they have some good entertainment.

Absolutely the worst food we've ever had. Horrible service. We will never go there again. Do not waste your time. It's a joke.

We were in town for a wedding nearby and most of the family was staying at the hotel where the restaurant is located. Because most of the group was from out of town, everyone decided to eat at this restaurant located in the hotel to avoid transportation. We had the entire restaurant to ourselves with some other patrons at the bar. When our waitress brought just three menus for a party of seven and tossed a stack of Dollar store napkins in the middle of the table, with silverware on top, I should've known what was coming. The first three things I tried to order from the menu--soup of the day, chicken marsala, and broccoli--were all unavailable. Yes, three in a row! I finally ended up with a steak that I asked for medium, but it came out completely cooked through with no pink at all. Between the missing menu items, lackluster presentation, and poorly cooked food, the whole experience was a huge letdown. One thing they obviously had on hand was plenty of salt! I'm pretty sure we all consumed our limit of sodium for the week. One thing I can say is that all of the staff were extremely friendly and nice. I truly felt bad for our waitress. I gave the three stars based on the fact that the hotel uses the same area for breakfast and the server deserved five stars for breakfast. It was not a large buffet, but it was well presented and fresh (real scrambled eggs with cheese made on site which seems to be a rarity hotels these days).

I'd give this a 4.25 stars. If you read my reviews, you know that terrible car accidents happen to me after work dinners (see review on The Industry for one such example). Thankfully, dear readers, I did not have any car incidents after THIS specific work dinner. Haha! Anyway, The Bistro of Green is in a strip mall five minutes from my work office and is an institution for locals in the area - people in my group were reminiscing about coming to Bistro multiple times a month before Covid, back when they were open for lunch. The menu seems to change often. They do have a couple specials on a board outside the door that are not on their printed menu, just FYI. Our dinner took over 2 and a half hours, starting with complimentary bread and our drinks of choice. The free bread was fine. I ordered a seasonal cocktail, the Apple Cranberry Sangria, despite cocktails not having a price listed (see menu picture). I tend never to order things that do not have the price listed but the cocktail sounded too good to resist. It was yummy and very sugary and fruity, with added mint leaves that definitely brought it up a notch! Our party also split 4 appetizers: the hot peppers ($13), baked provolone ($14), calamari ($16), and flatbread ($16). As the portions are not meant to be shared between 10 people, I only had a little bit of each. I wasn't into the peppers (too mushy) but the calamari was my favorite! I could see myself ordering this as a dinner just for myself in the future. Two thirds of the hot pepper dish was ignored by the group in the end. For my main, half of which I took home as it was getting very late and my drive back home is almost an hour, I chose to get the Bistro burger (medium rare) and fries ($18). This was chosen based on cost alone - even though I really wanted a chicken or steak dish, I just could not afford them. I am only a lonely assistant, not a CEO! I debated getting one of the other sandwich options, also both $18, but the lack of pictures either on Google or Yelp made me just stick with a burger. My lack of funds kept me from being too adventurous for this dinner, sadly. Next time, I'd be down to try their fancy grilled cheese (or steak, if someone else foots the bill). The burger was good, although not amazing, and the fries were that nice mix of just oily and crispy enough. Service was okay. Things apparently got busy at the bar, so it took longer than it should have for us to get our drinks and food throughout the night. As for vibes, it was nicely decorated for Christmas, lights were dim, and Christmas music played softly in the background. No complaints here! In the end, for a sangria, burger, fries, tax, and tip (plus a 3% surcharge for using a credit card), my dinner cost me over $40. Can you imagine just how much worse the bill would have been if I hadn't gotten the cheapest thing on the menu? Next time, I will also remember to bring cash. And choose a more unique dish.
