It was a Sunday morning. Place was packed. Clean overall. Staff was thin, but doing their best to keep up. We had the hobo skillet and the machaca and eggs. The skillet was good. The machaca is shredded beef, eggs and cheese. It is served with rice, beans, guacamole, sour cream and house made salsa. The salsa was flavorful. Two tortillas accompanied the meal. Wanted to try this place since it's new to our area & the menu sounded great. On a Saturday noonish we ordered the Monte Cristo sandwich w/fries for me & eggs benedict (weekends only) w/hashbrowns for hubby . The turkey tasted odd, not spoiled, just different, no powdered sugar added, and served with syrup. Menu said powdered sugar, raspberry jelly & sour cream came with it. I ate a quarter of it, my dog ate a quarter of it, the other half the trash can got. Fries were good. Eggs benedict was just ok. Sauce had no flavor, ham & eggs were ok, hash browns were burnt and crispy. Wouldn't order it again he said. The place wasn't very busy, a few people at best. To top it all off someone hit our car between our 2 doors on passenger side backing up as he was passing by. So for over $2,000 it was a total waste. Won't bother trying it a second time. Their menu looks interesting, which is a shame, because their service is garbage. We wanted to try them out this Thursday morning, so we headed over for breakfast. The place was not very busy, which makes sense for a Thursday morning. Our family includes my elderly mother who has very obvious mobility issues. While we were still helping her to get settled, the waitress popped up and immediately demanded our drink order. Like, lady, we aren't even looking at the menu. We are taking off our coats. A breakfast spot with a large menu near Portage Lakes. I'm always hesitant when I see a place with such a large menu but I thought I would give it a shot. Service was slow for food but the waitstaff was responsive. We had the corned beef hash, French toast, cinnamon roll French toast, and the biscuits and gravy. No clear winner from the lot but the biscuits and gravy was sub-par. Almost no sausage and the gravy was very gluey and over-peppered. My hesitancy with the large menu was correct as the rest of the food did not hit the spot. Was excited to try this place but probably won't go back. read more

This is a cute little diner in a small strip mall. We arrived for lunch and got to choose our own seat. There were 4 of us and the booth was a little small as we forget how the kids have grown. Our server took our drink orders quickly and returned for our food order. One child got the children's chicken strips and fries and the other got the adult portion of country fried chicken. My husband got the senior pancakes and sausage and I got the pastrami on rye. The chicken strips were a hit, as were the fries. The country fried chicken was large with lots of gravy and mashed potatoes. He isn't a vegetable kid, but there were loads of mixed vegetables on his plate. He thoroughly enjoyed it. My husbands' senior portion was also large. The pancakes were good as was the sausage. Then came my pastrami. It was so tough and chewy and actually pretty scant. I didn't like it at all as it was too hard to chew. The fries were good. Three out of four good meals isn't bad. Today I took a friend to Molly Browns Portage Lakes Dr in Akron. I swore he would live the food! He never went there before. I had. But this time there was a difference, the lady who took the order, delivered the meals to table, did not ask if we needed anything. She didnt ask how everything was and she never once smiled. Her face was hard and words quick and done. I got my own box to go. Left a $5 tip from me. Went to pay in cash and this young girl snatched the bill out of my hand ,no apology, and asked if my client wanted to leave a tip on his Visa gift card. I said "No" without a smile and just as efficiently as they were. I paid cash for mine and she tossed the change into my palm without a thankyou, come again, have a nice day- nothing. I waited til she met my eyes and i looked at her the way your mother looks at a child who was rude to her auntie. I shook my head and walked out. There was no one to viice complaints to. The menu said press 2 for manager-- " voice mail full" click. I wont go to Molly Browns in Akron again. Good job losing customers. Must be they're closing so they dont care how customers feel. Always love the food from here! We've been doing carry out since the pandemic, and it's been great, and the quality has not went down at all! My personal favorite is the hobo skillet and Belgium waffle. Always recommend to anyone looking for somewhere to go for breakfast! read more

First and last visit. Very tired and worn looking cafe with apathetic staff. When I arrived a little after 11 am, there was a group of 3 already eating, a group of 2 and a group of 4 waiting to order. 9 total people besides me. It took 30 minutes to get a turkey club sandwich and potato salad. The sandwich was made with really thick clumps of lettuce, which made it hard to eat but it tasted fine except for the half that tasted of onion and peppers, presumably someone else's meal prepared too close to mine. The potato salad was awful. It was full of pickles or relish and way too much mustard. One waitress, one cook, neither with a friendly bone in their body. I left a little after 12 noon, and only 2 more people had arrived. Obviously people know this is not the place to eat and stay away. If I did not have to give a star I wouldn't. It's not the food, it is great, but the waitress was awful. We arrived at 12:50 and they close at 2:00 so that was not a problem, but she rolled her eyes when she saw the owner seat us, took forever for a drink order, asked us what we would like which we told her coffee and a water and coke, she then again looked at us and asked the same thing. She brought the drinks and left we sat for 20 minutes waiting on her to get our food order and it was not busy. Food took another 20 minutes or so then brought out by the owner who was friendly. I had the biscuits and gravy with sausage patties and my husband got the meat loaf dinner instead of the meatloaf sandwich he asked for. So finally when we were done the hostess did all the other work by getting refills and a box plus giving us our check. The waitress charged us for 2 coffees and for the dinner even though we said we ordered the sandwich. They took off the coffee and then turned around and charged it on my card anyhow! This diner has one of the biggest and most interesting breakfast menus in the area. They have some really good Tex-mex options that you won't find anywhere else around here. Their more traditional breakfast stuff is really good too. I haven't tried their lunch items yet, but I eat breakfast anytime of the day all the time. My wife loves their chicken-fried steak breakfast especially. I am already looking forward to returning and trying something I haven't had yet, there is so much to choose from. read more

Good sized portions of extremely mediocre food. Went for Sunday breakfast, so of course there was a line. Wait for a table wasn't long, but the wait for a menu was. Our server looked overwhelmed, but I can't understand why she topped off my friend's coffee, and never topped off mine? OJ was from a can, scrambled eggs were fine, and the skillet was a tad on the greasy side. Biscuit was tasty, but not really a biscuit, given that it was square and doughy. The food took awhile and when it came, my husband was missing part of his meal and our order of banana bread was also not delivered. The server apologized and said she'd be back with it, but it didn't arrive for at least 10 minutes. My bacon and avocado omelette was over cooked and only had about 1/5 of an avocado on it. Subpar food with subpar service. It could be a lot better if they had better efficient staff. Prices way too high as well. Food either under or over cooked. Don't bring everyone's meal out together and half the table is without food for ten minutes. Forgetting sides and refills of drinks as well. Didn't get toast until I asked 3 times. The cook who brings out the food cannot speak legible English and is difficult to hear him when he gives you your food. They should have designated runners for food. Not the cooks themselves. Not very good, cold biscuits watered down OJ, they did not even seem to care. This absolutely the worst breakfast ever. One of the things that also made it unpleasant was the waitress, she never smiled and looked at me while I was ordering. As I went up to pay, I was asked, how was your breakfast? I replied with my experience in a polite and professional manner, their reply was, oh I am sorry. Will that be cash or credit, what? Sorry you did not like it, but you still have to pay for it. Very good breakfast. Have ate here twice now and twice have gotten good breakfast and great service. It has a little bit of a Mexican flair to the menu with a selection of hot sauce at all the tables. One of my favorite things is getting excellent hot banana bread instead of toast.
