I posted pictures on my website, and people from other states jaws dropped. People from Atlanta and California were jealous. I had the El rey, juicy burrito. I take half of it home, it's so big. Employee sleeping in booth?!?!? Not sure what happened to this place. A few years ago it was vibrant and food, drink was good. However today we were served hot salsa with terribly stale chips. I started to look around and noticed how disheveled, dirty and unkempt the restaurant was. Dirty rolled up carpet on a chair. Napkins all over tables not cleaned up. My daughter and I stopped in for dinner last night, since we were in the area and had never tried Agavero before. The hostess was super friendly and we were sat quickly. The table salsa had a great flavor. My daughter ordered the street tacos and I had the Pina Hawaiiana. She loved her tacos and the spicy salsa that came with them. She also enjoyed the beans, but the rice lacked flavor. The Pina Hawaiiana was good, not the best I've had though. Plenty of leftovers for lunch! First visit,,, Very few reviews completed recently in yelp, but for anyone who is interested, the food was very good! Salsa & chips were enjoyable. The service was a bit disjointed, but it was probably due to a few staff members absent, which could be family, as one reviewer noted earlier, that it is truly a family run restaurant. With that said, we had our meals delivered within a reasonable time. The restaurant looked clean, but a few spaces within could use some attention, as in tidy up a bit. My wife and I both gave it a thumbs up compared to the Mexican restaurant that is downtown. We would return again when we're at this end of town. read more

So this was our first time to Agavero, and it had a great menu and the food was good. I got Huevos Rancheros I have only one complaint. when they fried the eggs they salted them a lot. That is why they didn't get 5 stars. My husband and I cut our salt intake years ago and that is why salt shakers are on the table. My husband said his was a little salty for his taste, but mine was overly so. Other than that it is s very clean, well staffed, friendly place. we will go back and ask to watch the salt. read more

Food is good but the waitress never understands what we order and they have young kids working there, weird environment, felt like I was at their house with their kids running around, I think the one worked there. Tried multiple times. Also, one time the server randomly picked up my granddaughter out of her high chair!! We did not ask her to or say it was ok. The wait staff and employees will talk about customers in Spanish, however my daughter and I are fluent and understand enough that we will not be returning. Between the kids randomly working and them disrespecting customers thinking they can't understand would not recommend.... New to the area, we went to Agovera for a late lunch yesterday. We were quite pleasantly surprised! The restaurant is small and nicely decorated, and everything was spotless. No hostess so we picked a booth, and almost immediately a waiter came to bring us menus and get our drink orders. Drinks came back in less than 5 minutes along with chips and salsa. The chips were okay, as was the salsa - nothing to write home about but definitely good. I ordered a la carte to try my personal favorites: a beef taco, chile relleno and borracho bean soup. The taco was good - a typical Tex-Mex taco in a pre-formed shell. The borracho beans were delicious and if you're a meat-lover I highly recommend them. (Personally, I love pinto beans and there weren't enough beans in the soup for me, but the flavor was divine.). The chile relleno was unlike any I've ever had. It was simply a roasted and peeled poblano stuffed with queso fresco, then smothered in a pleasantly tart tomatillo sauce. YUMMM!!! I can't wait to go back for this low-carb treat - Better Half and I raved about those chile rellenos the rest of the day (and having grown up in New Mexico we are definitely relleno snobs). All the food was deliciously paired with a mango margarita (for me) and a Coronarita for Better Half. We're looking forward to our next visit and recommend Agovera to anyone looking for good Tex-Mex with interesting (and tasty!) twists. read more

Twice I have been to this restaurant and both times my expectations have been far exceeded. Before I felt that predominantly all Mexican restaurants taste about the same, but I felt that El Campesinos was the best in Massillon. Now I believe that this restaurant is by far better. We got a pitcher of Patron margaritas to begin that were absolutely delicious, but what sets this place truly apart from the rest is the food. The taco and enchilada were seasoned unlike anywhere else I have ever had. This was an unexpected find! Mexican restaurant in Massillon, in a mostly empty strip mall with Home Depot. Everything was great! The service was warm and attentive and the food came out quick. Obligatory chips and salsa come with an additional chip dip that we didn't care for (mayonnaise-y) but was a super unique touch. The queso fundido is awesome- the sausage in it is fantastic. The thin and crispy chips weren't quite up to the task of scooping such a thick and chunky queso but they are so light and delicious I don't want them to change. Little touches make it a cut above your average Mexican American place. Veggies in the rice, garlicky guacamole salad, extra melty cheese in the veggie quesadilla. The chile relleno was huge and awesome, stuffed with chicken and cheese. Great kids menu, more choices than I've probably seen in any restaurant, pretty much ever. So after coming here a few more times I decided to take a star off. The food continues to be awesome with fairly good prices. I decided on the item I like to get as a "go to" but I continue to receive the same problem with that dish. The cooks are always in such a rush to get food out to the tables, they don't let the vegetables cook long enough and they are too hard. So, it's bad enough that it annoys me but not bad enough that I won't stop getting it. But that's not why I'm taking a star off. For whatever reason, this is the one Mexican restaurant that is HORRIBLE about not keeping chips and salsa stocked. Or maybe they will refill your chips, but not your salsa. Talk about annoying!! Recently I've been getting the same waitress and she keeps getting the same stuff wrong. Either she doesn't know the menu or she chooses not to care. We have to correct and send stuff back almost every time we come here. It's still a good place to go on any day Because on busy days it's still not the worst. My husband and I are very careful with the virus in our area! We come here often and find the tables distanced well and the employees all wearing masks. The place is very clean. The service is wonderful! The best part is the food though! Last time I ordered the shrimp fajitas. The shrimp was fresh and cooked perfectly. The vegetables were cooked perfectly as well! No soggy vegetables here! My husband wanted the ground beef enchiladas however they weren't on the menu. We asked the waitress and she confirmed ground beef and cheese enchiladas were indeed available. My husband really enjoyed them and felt the portions more than fair. They bring chips and salsa to the table and they also provide a very sweet dipping sauce. I'm not sure what it is but it is incredible! We will return! We have been eating here since it opened, and finally I have managed to order everything on their menu! I'm still trying to find something that I don't like! And I'm still waiting on them to serve me something that I don't like and have yet to be disappointed! They staff is very friendly and respectful towards you, addressing you as a family member and the only one in a full restaurant! They have the most amazing tamale's I've tasted. For a traditional Mexican restaurant, this is the best I've ever tried. The menu and environment felt very familiar - your average Mexican style joint. When the food came I was impressed! The flavor was awesome! It didn't taste like the typical traditional Mexican restaurant, it was made by a chef! You can tell the people in the kitchen are passionate about cooking. It wasn't too oily or salty, the food was flavored naturally. The menu was not ambitious, but the flavor was out of this world and the service was quick and fantastic. Fresh made guac! Sorta felt like I was back in Mexico! Not the usual sauces as all seems freshly made...even the enchilada sauce had a special flavor. My mother had seafood enchiladas and I had the enchilada trio (except I asked for a cheese and spinach enchilada instead of chicken since I'm vegetarian) and they tasted wonderful! The atmosphere is cozy and quaint. Normally my go to is El Campesinos but honestly this will likely become my #1 choice for mexi in Massillon. The staff was quite friendly.
