We really kind of liked Barrel 28 until tonight, it had always been consistent for salads, burgers and wings, we really liked the Fig and Goat Cheese Pizza as well. Tonight was a real disappointment, ordered the grilled skirt steak, it arrived looking like it had been grilled yesterday, the expected grill marks were there but they were slimy and jelled as if the steak had been previously grilled a day or two ago, put in the fridge and then warmed up in the microwave when ordered. I myself grill this cut of meat at home and when I place it on the table the crisp grill marks on the steak are hot and sizzling, this piece of meat was many hours old and barely warm when served, it had certainly not been grilled within the 15-30 minutes prior to getting to my plate. Extremely disappointed with this meal, I guess note to self, this is more a Cisco Frozen and then warmed kind of place, not a real restaurant where dishes are actually designed, cooked and then served to order... read more

First timers here. Stopped for a light lunch. We sat outside on the side of the building. Nice seating area. Ordered 2 appetizers- grilled platter and the clams. Both were very good. Clam broth was great for dipping. Young wait staff learning the ropes but no delays or mistakes. Very polite. Kudos to them for working! Aside from the great atmosphere and service, Barrel 28 offers a lot of Gluten Free food options. Gluten free pasta, pizza, wraps and buns are available. Chef is knowledgeable and will direct staff with any questions you may have! Bartenders will alter drinks to make them gluten free! Stopped in for dinner on a Thursday night! Not busy at all! Waited almost 10 minutes before the waitress came to greet us! We we gave our drink orders and stated we were both ready to order! She stated "I have to get you the drinks first before I take your order" we stated "wouldn't it be easier if we gave you both to put in both drink and food order at the same time?" And she confusedly hesitated and then took our food order! After our food was delivered, she never came back to check on us! I had to stop her in order to get the check and a box for myself, she looked at my friend and asked if she needed a box but had nothing left on her plate! Obviously not needed! We have been here twice and while it isn't on the top of our return list it isn't on the bottom either. Service is inconsistent, maybe they were overwhelmed. Both times we were there the tables around us received a basket of bread while we did not. Refills of drinks were charged at $1 each.... that's annoying especially since they come in rather small glasses. If you're going to charge for refills at least serve the drinks in a larger glass. The pizza is tasty with a nice crisp, thin crust. The kielbasa wrap was sloppily assembled and was rather lacking on the kielbasa. The nachos were good. The skirt steak did not resemble any piece of skirt steak I have ever seen.... seemed of low quality and was tough and over cooked. The remodel of the interior is nice, open, and modern. Ordered a VIRGIN Bloody Mary and even explained to the waitress that means NO ALCOHOL.. and also confirmed when the drink was served that there was no alcohol and got a mouthful of vodka... manager gave a half ass apology but walked away in the middle of the conversation. Waitress never even apologized or cared. Walked out and will never go back or recommend. Horrible service, horrible customer service and obviously do not care about their customers at all! read more

I usually don't take the time to write a review, good or bad. Unfortunately our experience dining here was so awful I felt it needed to be shared . We went in with a party of 8 . After about 35 minutes two of our party members had gotten their meals . We waited and waited for the other 6 to get theirs. Our waitress acted as if this was out of her control and didn't seem to bothered by it . After an HOUR , yes and HOUR we spoke to the manager and luckily then after 15 minutes got 5 more of the meals . Again the process started waiting for that last meal . Once again our waitress didn't seem to care or bother coming to our table AT ALL so we spoke to the manager yet again. This was a horrible experience overall. The only shining light was a waitress named Alexia, who wasn't even waiting on our table but came up to our table several times after the huge debacle and apologized. She was very kind and if you go to this establishment I suggest you make sure you get her or don't bother going . read more

First time for dinner here. Service was fine but the entire experience was disappointing. Was seated in the back dining room. Felt like we were in a cafeteria.... Bright harsh lighting, loud echoing area.... Not intimate at all. Could use a dimmer and sound deadening. Service was fine, but food was not subpar. Salad with a steak add on (+$12).... Steak - cold, chewy, and basically inedible.... Husband had the skirt steak.... A normal fav, and cooked to medium rare as requested but overall tough and lacking in flavor.... Also missing the chimchirri sauce after advertised.... I don't mind paying money for a good meal, but this was not it! read more

I went apple picking with some friends and our kids yesterday and we decided to stay and have dinner in town. The restaurant seemed to have a casual dining vibe which seemed to be fitting for families. We sat at a table outside as the weather was beautiful. From there, everything went down hill. We were given menus and we were beginning to peruse. We placed our orders, ordering appetizers and main courses and easy to eat meals for our kids who were entertaining themselves with games on our respective phones. The appetizer comes out (calamari) and the waiter proceeds to spill and entire large container of sour cream or (tartar sauce?) all over my lap and my purse which was resting on my seat between my thigh and the arm of the chair. I believe the waiter muttered a half-assed apology (I'm not sure) and proceeded to sort out other dishes and which dish goes to whom. The complete and utter lack of concern was shocking. There was no scramble to get me a napkin - there was no accommodation made to apologize and rectify the situation. My friends at the table are all scrambling the way the restaurant staff SHOULD have been scrambling. I asked said waiter if I could get more napkins. He disappeared and never came back out. I ultimately had to ask at least three different wait staff to get me napkins to clean the mess they made ON ME. One of the adults at the table had to swap out my chair for another because, again, no action was taken by the restaurant. I finally had to go to the ladies room and proceeded to wash off my pants and my purse and do the best I could with cleanup. I proceeded to go back to my seat to try and continue to enjoy the rest of my meal. I did not have utensils and had to ask for utensils repeatedly again from multiple wait staff (it took 20 minutes to get utensils). I finally had to ask if the protocol at the restaurant was for the guests to eat with their hands because getting utensils seem to be such a challenge. Now I'm not sure about other people, but if an employee at your restaurant screws up, what should happen is management should come to the table and apologize on their behalf and offer some compensatory measure in an effort to do right by the guest. No attempt was made to rectify the situation, apologize for the situation, or even acknowledge the situation. And the kicker is when I asked the waitress if I could have some additional napkins to clean up some cream that I had missed when cleaning up my purse, she proceeded to reply with an air of condescension that it wasn't even our order of calamari - it was actually meant for another table. What relevance does that have to me or to the fact that I was wearing sour cream in my lap?? It's unfortunate that the restaurant actually has pretty decent food but that their customer service is GARBAGE. And I'm sure the wait staff was wondering why their tip was probably so low (we had a $300 tab - a table of attorneys fully capable of paying their fair share for GOOD service) If they really want to know, it's because I used the difference to pay for my dry cleaning. read more

I dined here with my son, niece and nephew and their spouse and 2 younger children, under age 10 on Friday night. 7pm reservation. The evening started well, table was waiting for us. Our server was pleasant and we all ordered by about 7:20 or so. 3 appetizers were ordered and meals for each of us at the table. The band had started playing by now ( way too loud) conversation nearly impossible. Our appetizers arrived in a timely manner, and were for the most part good, although the crostini for my Bruccetta was hard and stale. This where things went downhill. We waited and waited, and waited and waited for our entrees. Finally, about 45 minutes after our apppetizers were finished our entrees came out! Well some of them anyway!!! 4 of the meals were pizza and they were delivered. The other 4 meals (not pizza) but fairly simple ( kids pasta, penne vodka, burger, and ceaser salad) came 20 minutes after the pizzas came. Half the table was finished eating as the other half was just getting their food. My burger was overdone( surprise) bland and dry. The pancetta in the penne vodka was cubed way too big and subsequently picked out of the dish by my niece. Not once were we offered an explanation as to what went wrong but simply told your food will be out any minute, promise! A manager finally came to the table but only after my nephew insisted and got stern with the server! The manager SHOULD have been on this as soon as we started questioning where the food was. The manager did comp the 2 kids meals and a percentage of the total, as I was a guest of my niece and not paying the bill I said nothing as I felt it wasn't my place. I am a retired chef/ restaurant manager with well over 40 years in the business, so I know how things are suppose to work. This was our second visit within a two week period to try the highly touted Prime Rib Wednesday! When we received the specials menu there was nothing noted for Prime Rib except for a shredded prime rib sandwich. When I asked our server about this she said they do have prime rib it's just not on any of the menu's. I found this odd and asked her what cut sizes were available and pricing, neither which she could answer. I finally settled on an end cut and wanted to know available sides, only to learn that it's mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables no other options. My son not wanting a full prime rib settled on the shredded prime rib sandwich which we were quickly told was not available! I found this odd since it's on the specials menu and it is prime rib night and the have prime rib which is not on any menu but you can ask for it, so this was quite the conundrum. My son settled on the pizza which he said was good but it was served ten minutes after my prime rib was , the prime rib was served lukewarm no au jus sauce which it desperately needed since it was very dry. The anticipation of this highly touted on social media Prime Rib night was a bust and I would not recommend It. Perhaps stick to what you do good straight up bar food! read more
