Mom and I attended the Autumn Leaves festival and decided to grab some lunch on our way out of the event. Neither one of us had ever been to this establishment before. It was a old timey diner that was filled with many patrons. Mom and I both decided on burgers but there are quite a few options to choose from. I got the pimento cheese burger and mom got the cheeseburger. We shared an order of onion rings, which were delicious. We both really enjoyed our burgers as well! They came out very fast! Our server was Lavonda and was pleasant and accommodating, despite being very busy. She made the experience even better. I gave 4 stars instead of five as I felt the prices were a bit high for the size of the burgers and side items.

Best monster size Western omelette stuffed full of fresh vegetables, ham & cheese all for a reasonable price .

If'n you like a big breakfast at a great price with fresh ingredients Barney's is the place for you . Foods always great and everyone makes you feel at home

It is a no frills diner with good food. Service was good despite having a full house. We both had the gourmet burger which really is a regular burger with some type of spice. Burger was cooked perfectly and the onion rings were nice and crispy.

We wanted to try something other than Snappy Lunch in Mt Airy. Glad husband chose this place. Love all the pics of Barney inside. They were busy, but tables turned over at a good pace. Service was good. We had meatloaf, and burgers. Husband liked deviled eggs as a side. Food was good.

This cute diner gave me everything I was looking for today. It was that old style diner with counters and people that had been working there for decades. Turn back the time on the decor and the pricing!!! To be on Main Street in a place with tons of tourists, this place could charge way more than it did. I chose the special which was Barney burger and fries for $10.75. The burger was delicious and hand pressed for that fresh flavor. There was cheese and bacon on the burger and the bacon was among the best cooked bacon I've had. I'm a bacon snob and I cannot stand microwave mushy bacon most places serve. This bacon was extra crispy and oven baked. (We asked!) The fries were your typical fries and the onion rings were delicious. Lots of homemade cake. I was full so I didn't try them but they looked delicious!!! Step back in time and give it a try. I loved this little town and this place.

Today was a seat yourself day. They have 24 tables and a bar. The server came by and took our drink order quickly. Everyone is really nice. Most places seem to serve Pepsi. If you are a Coke person, you can get that in a bottle with no refills at several places. The burger was great, grilled onions, bacon, tomatoes, and lettuce with mayo. Catsup is on the table. The onion rings were crisp, hot, and not greasy. The deviled eggs had a good sprinkle of paprika on them. Everything was tasty. Kind of glad we didn't go last week. They had 40000 people in town for the Andy Griffith festival. Lines at restaurants would be long and sidewalks crowded. They don't close the streets for the festivals. Great food and atmosphere. Will return again.

Barney's on main is a diner that serves breakfast and lunch located on Main Street in historical mount airy North Carolina aka Mayberry. Paying homage to hometown hero Andy Griffith famous show sidekick deputy Barney Fife. The diner is small but does not lack in Mayberry decor or reference on the menu. Me and my buddy stopped in here for lunch on our little trip to Mayberry. I went with a basic bacon cheeseburger while He went with a Mayberry Club. The service here was adequate and our food came out pretty quickly. I will Say his portion size was better than mine. The food was just ok. Nothing special but not bad. Kinda what you expect for a small town tourist trap. They did offer some merch and souvenir cups but we both stuck with just the lunch meals. Overall a cool little place and I'm sure I'll Remember the setup and experience more than the food. But that's ok. It was perfect for what we were needing at the time.

Why can't all places have these prices?! What a cute place with good diner food. The homemade lemonade was delicious and not too sweet. Everyone in my group enjoyed what they got. My only complaint is that I got the grilled cheese and it was just okay. Otherwise, fun place to stop for lunch.

A fun little spot in Mount airy. Lots of tourist. The food was good! But the best part was the friendliness of all of the people there and the fact that they had fresh cake out on the counter! I went for their pineapple bacon cheeseburger while my wife just had a grilled cheese. They were whipped upquickly and delivered with a smile!

We stopped in here on a weekday row 1130 for a lunch. I got a turkey club with chips and it was just a pretty OK sandwich. The atmosphere is definitely what you're paying for when you go here because it just the Barney pictures if you did not have any ties to mayberrry at all, it would not get much business or even get three stars really it's pretty plain Jane at all of it

I think this place is more known for the nostalgia and the decor than for the food because it's definitely themed after the Andy Griffith show which the whole town is. Also. That being said, I had to get the Barney burger and thought it was a very good burger. The waitress was super nice and greeted me immediately upon entering and the food was very affordable, and very tasty. The whole town was very cool if you're a fan of the Andy Griffith show and I highly recommend you checking it out if you're in the area

He made sure everything was perfect! We started off with the Cheese Sticks with both ranch dressing and marinara sauce! The marinara sauce was really good! The ranch dressing was too watered down for my taste!!! The cheese sticks were hot and fresh! Very gooey and good! He ordered the 13 Bones burger with fries. The burger had amazing flavor! The fries were a bit too salty, but they were perfectly cooked and served hot! I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich with their homemade chips! I ordered an extra side of dressing for both my sandwich and the chips. I just cannot rave enough about how amazing my entire meal was! Those chips were PERFECT!!!! Already looking forward to our next visit! Most Sincerely, Dayla

It was very cold where we were sitting and the server allowed us to move to a warmer spot. We ordered a fried mushroom appetizer. This was very good. They came with ranch and I think it was the horseradish sauce. The orangish sauce was very good. I ordered 1/2 rack of dry ribs with mac & cheese and green beans, and 2 hushpuppies. You get a choice of Texas toast, hushpuppies, or rolls. My coworker ordered salmon. When the food came out, my ribs were wet. I told the server that I had ordered dry rub. He stated they were dry but had sauce on them. I'm sorry, that is not a "dry rib", in my opinion. The first piece of rib meat I ate was soft and juicy. The next two were super dry and I could not eat any more of them. My coworker joked that that was probably what they were referring to when they said "dry rub". The green beans were ok. I added a ton of pepper and some hot sauce. I saved the mac & cheese for lunch the next day. The hushpuppies were dense and needed a little more flavor. My coworker commented that her salmon was ok but nothing to write home about. I should have went with my first instinct and ordered from the kids menu. The prices are very reasonable and the atmosphere is nice.

The staff was very friendly and helpful with answering some questions about the menu. They know the menu well and was knowledgeable of the preparation. I ordered the country fried chicken with gravy that is served over mashed potatoes with a hot roll and a side fried okra. It was a plate special for just under $10. Food came out hot and the chicken was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Juicy and tender. I don't think the gravy was made from scratch but it was good white, peppered gravy. The mashed potatoes were real potatoes, not boxed. The okra may have been the frozen kind but it was fried and seasoned perfectly. I also ordered some ranch dressing on the side to dip the okra and chicken in and it was made from scratch ranch dressing and some of the best ranch I've ever had. The roll was like a breadstick and it was freshly baked, served hot and may have been made from scratch. It was a really good hot roll. Overall appearance was that it looked like it has been around for a while but had a cute, country diner vibe going on. I would eat there again if I'm passing through and would recommend to anyone wanting country style food with good service. The price was very reasonable with big, generous portions.
