    Chef's special Cajun blackened burger
    Is S.

I tried to visit this place a while back and they weren't open, but this week as I was nearby, I was able to finally come have lunch. The spot is a little weird, around the corner, but they've done a decent job putting up signs. The inside is laid back, sorta pub-ish. Nice little bar area. I was told the burgers are great here, so I ordered the chef's special burger, which was a cajun blackened burger. The burger was really great. Nice and juicy, tons of flavor. One of the best I've had in some time. I ordered onion rings with it, because that's a thing for me. They appear to be the standard onion rings, not house-made... but good. Nothing wrong with a standard onion ring cooked just right. I was waited on by Raven, who was smiley and always nearby. Overall, I definitely have to come back and try more stuff!

When we arrived for lunch they were pretty busy with larger seated groups plus there were two groups waiting for a table. Lucky for us they have a small bar that had open seats for the 2 of us. The servers were friendly and hustling to serve everyone . They seemed to work very well as a team. We settled in at the bar, ordered drinks and our meals. There is a tv at the bar that was playing Mayberry reruns that were great! The goat burger was terrific. Cooked a perfect medium rare and served with yummy goat cheese. The tater tots were yummy - hot and crisp! My husband ordered the sausage fest. He thought it was ok but not as good as he had hoped. We really wanted a Loaded goat tshirt but were told they were on order. There is a "sister" store a few doors down that sells them but they only had one color. Maybe next time!

Wow. Hidden gem for sure. Fried pickles were a hit, the spicy ranch was amazing. Had to get an extra for the burger. The dynamite burger was fabulous. Added pimento cheese and that went so well with the spice. The fries were my favorite type of fry. Thicker than shoestring but very crunchy. Service was top notch. 10/10 would recommend, and definitely consider driving up from Charlotte just to have it again.

    The Black Bean Burger

My husband and I have been here a few times now and we've always enjoyed our meals. Great service and a neat little spot located in downtown Mt. Airy. Today I had their black bean burger, which is not on their current menu but we were told they are working on their new menu now. The BBB comes with lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles. I also added bleu cheese crumbles to it; so so good! For my side I chose a side salad with their house made bleu cheese dressing. My husband got the Bacon Cheeseburger with a side of tots. He ate every last bit of it. We both enjoyed a Red Oak that was on tap. They have a large beer and mixed drink selection. The fried pickles are really good, too!! Go on and go now.

The only complaint I have about this place was how long we had to wait to get a table and then to get our food once we ordered. The food itself was fantastic though. The burger was big, juicy, and cooked perfectly. It wasn't really spicy even though it had jalapeños and their special hot sauce on it. I tasted the pickles more than the spice. The fries were amazing though, a good amount given and nice and crispy. I'd come back here for a burger, but I think I would give myself more time so I don't get hangry before the food comes out.

Fried pickles. Very large portion and delicious

We stopped here for the highly rated burgers (on yelp of course) and they did not disappoint! We ordered fried pickles which I got a great picture of and when my black and blue burger came out I was so excited I forgot to snap a picture. This restaurant was very clean, the staff was so busy and still short staffed ( like most places) but they were fantastic. Everything was hot, fresh and incredibly delicious. Great job yelpers.

Tony and I went to the Loaded Goat in Mt Airy, NC just to have a drink at the bar and check out the restaurant. We were greeted by the Hostess and I asked her if we could just go straight to the bar. They were busy and we didn't want to occupy a much needed table for dining when we knew we would be in and out soon. I promised Tony that we would go bar hoping if I could choose and I chose this one due to the name. The Loaded Goat is named after the Episode on Andy Griffith where the Goat at the Dynamite and Barnie locked him up in the jail cell. Part of the decoration in the restaurant is scenes framed from that episode. They are located on the second floor so there is a nice view of main street from the windows. The restaurant is lovely. The bartender wanted to know if we were eating and I told her NOPE just bar hoping and she served us immediately. Tony had a PBR and I had a coca cola...I asked for cherry and lime but she gave me grenadine and lime..I guess its okay not what I asked for..but it tasted fine. Our check was only $4.65 so I left her $2 tip and we left when finished. We will definitely put this nice restaurant on our list to dine at when we are in the area again~

This place was recommended by local as best burger in town and we had to see for ourselves We stopped in for lunch. I got the bacon cheeseburger and my wife got the goat burger. Both were juicy and flavorful. We would definitely return if in the mood for a good burger.

Onion & Mushroom burger, super fresh side salad, & the Goat burger- damn good!

Cute little bar & grill in Mount Airy. Nice staff & great burgers! We got the: FRIED GREEN TOMATOES: Wasn't crazy about the batter they use. Sorry but they could be so much better. FRIED PICKLES: Same as above. THE GOAT BURGER: Excellent, but definitely heavy. And goat cheese is, so not really complaining here... Still loved it! BANGIN' SWEET ONION & MUSHROOM BURGER: My man LOVED it! SIDE SALAD w/ RANCH: Good, but I missed having some croutons. Still... super fresh veggies & great ranch dressing! Overall we enjoyed our visit & I'd recommend checking this place out!

Hands down THE best burger EVER! Service was great. Our waitress was funny and sweet. She gave great recommendations. The price was VERY reasonable. Lost 1 star for ambiance. It was so silent it was uncomfortable. Everything was sticky. It wasn't a hole in the wall kind of place so the sticky floors and tables didn't fit the yummy menu. I would definitely go back. Screw the sticky awkwardly silence. The burger was fantastic. I can sit in silence.

I recommend the dirty south burger, which I've had before, but this time I got the hot Winston chicken. I enjoyed the gochujang slaw on the side as well, but I like it as an included side. If I paid the full $5 for extra side, I wouldn't have been quite as pleased perhaps. Lace got the aforementioned burger, which I'm pleased to say is still delicious (I'll probably go back to it next time), and the fries are above average quality, too! Pours of draft beer seem to be in a smaller than average glass, but then they are keeping their beverage prices down this way.

After being awarded the Triad Yelper of the Year 2024 Award at the Yelpies Award Ceremony last year, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, I decided that it would be appropriate this year to go back to this restaurant and write a follow-up review, since my initial review was one of my reviews that contributed to me obtaining this highly esteemed Award. I arrived on a Thursday evening with a 6:15pm reservation which I'm glad I had made because later I found out that this place gets to be a full house on Thursdays. A young lady host greeted and welcomed me at the Host's station as soon as I arrived. She checked my reservation and had my table all ready for me. Located in the middle of this very popular Restaurant Bar, gave me a nice view of the entire place, and with a light high above I had a perfect lighting to photograph my drink and food as part of my review of the place. My server Jillian arrived soon after I was seated. She had a wonderful personality and welcomed me with a friendly smile and very pleasant attitude. After answering me some questions about their Mocktails, I ended up ordering their Raspberry Burro. For dinner I ordered their BBQ Bacon Chicken Kababs with a side of their special fries and a salad. While I was waiting for my food to arrive I observed the place quickly filling up and I found out that tonight was Music Bingo and Live Music at 9:30pm with no cover charge. It brought me back to my college days in Boston and Cambridge, Massachusetts, where the night life was a thing to look forward to. Suddenly I discovered the key of Martin's popularity and the important role it plays in contributing to making the City of Roanoke a Star City indeed. I enjoyed my drink and the Chicken Kababs with the side of special fries were amazingly delicious, as well as the salad. They have a good variety of quality items on their menu and their chefs amazingly deliver. I invite you to read my first review where I celebrate their Cuban Sandwich and Slaw, and view my photographs that accompany my review. What a night. Besides the food, I enjoyed playing the Music Bingo, which one of the card titles was The 1970's. One of the best years of my life, when I attended High School in San Juan, Puerto Rico and College in Boston and Cambridge, Massachusetts. During that time I also won a Saltwater Fishing Tournament at the young age of 17 by catching a 405 pound Blue Marlin off the coast of Isla Verde, Puerto Rico. It was the best of times for me. My server Jillian provided exceptional customer service, checking on me at the appropriate times. For dessert I ordered their Glazed Doughnut Bread Pudding, and it was so good, I can't wait to return to have it again. What an extraordinary dining experience I had that night. I highly recommend this restaurant and bar for when you feel like having a good time, alone or with family and good friends. I promise you will be able to sabor what a Five Star review is all about, and experience for yourselves why Martin's is one of the City of Roanoke's most precious gems.
